The Claiming of Grimmauld Place

Rate this book
When Grimmauld Place begins fighting against Harry’s ownership of it, he decides he needs help to train the historic home — but little does he expect that it’ll be Malfoy who’s most suitable for the challenge. However, as Malfoy and Harry get closer, Harry comes to understand that expectations aren’t always the best path by which to guide his heart — and in the process learns just what is needed to make a house a home.

Harry is having trouble claiming Grimmauld Place as his own. The house seems to hate him so he puts an ad out for someone to live with him and teach him to claim ownership. Draco is the best candidate for the job. What follows is their story. It was almost a five star read for me but it was missing something. Still really enjoyable and worth a reread.

Love the Magical House trope, this was cute but Astolat's version is my favorite of the trope so far.

It wasn't bad. Quite redundant and predictable. There was some grammar mistakes and flow of narration bumpy occasionally. I was hoping for deeper meaning to some aspects and answers felt flat after all the waiting but it had that something, capturing and the thrill of developing relationships reflected in making a home. Nothing new but still nice.

Grimmauld acting up towards harry. Harry prints to get a roommate. Draco applies (poor now) and Harry lets him stay for q urar. Draco has a pet tortoise francis (magical, talk only with harry). Draco makes potions in harry's basement for internship in russia. In day draco works in 2 shops to meet ends. Harry doesn't know that draco is poor. Later he tries to help draco by talking to headmistress in hogwarts. Harry tells this to draco who gets angry n leaves. Grimmauld presents its golden key to harry. Draco comes back n both get back together

The conflict between D/H near the end was really good, and I liked that piece most of all. Usually I really like magical pets, but this was maybe too much of a good thing. Not sure why this wasn't 4 stars for me. Maybe not enough angst....maybe the angst wasn't coherent enough? Couldn't put my finger on it, but there was something missing for me. Still a good read!

“It’s good to be home,” Draco said, like he understood. Which, of course, he did.

Tropes:
– Draco/Harry fanfiction
– Forced Proximity

Grimmauld is not listening to Harry so Harry needs help trying to wrangle it into submission. I love this trope!!!! This was such a fun read and the banter between Harry and Draco was top notch. This author's writing is so funny. Frank the tortoise and Paul the gnome were the BEST side-characters ever and brought so much to the story.

Beautiful and perfect. With the correct amount of angst, drama and banter :)
