I find that the quality of test-prep books relies much on their ability to simulate a real-world testing experience. The practice tests in the CD (and book) were unfortunately sub-par. Even in comparison to Kaplan's 2007 GRE book, this publication does a poor job reflecting true test questions put out by GMAC. If you want the real stuff, use the official guides, but don't rely too much on them because their questions are retired and a bit too easy. Keep in mind my target scoring range (and actual) was 95-99 percentile for both V and Q. I didn't use the book for any practice writing.
Great book for the review -particularly for math, which I needed desperately.
However, I had major issues with the amount of type-os and mistakes. It annoyed me when I saw these, because of all books to have at least 2 typos in every section, it shouldn't be a test study guide.
Overall, I found this more helpful for review and explanations while the Official guide was better for test questions.
