Miu is an unfortunate occult fanatic, who guzzled down a whole bottle of "Cherry Soup", the super strong cell revitalization liquid without thinking. Thanks to that, now she's a zombie. This all happened when Miu's just gotten close to her crush, Tohno. However, Tohno can't stomach zombies! Who knows what will happen...?!
This book is a fun twist on the zombie genre. It follows Miu who stays up all night consuming horror media, her own little hobby that she keeps mostly to herself about. She's a typical teenage girl, she doesn't sleep enough, she's obsessed with her classmate, Tohno, and when her best friend offers her some "Cherry Soup" she drinks the entire bottle. This soup is designed to revitalise your cells and make you look fresh and bright, however, a full bottle turns Miu into a zombie, and her crush can never find out after he says he hates zombies. Miu has to navigate her crush and growing friendship with Tohno and her life as a zombie.
It is kind of a silly read, but overall, it is fun. It's light and distracting enough to not require a lot of brain power to read which is always nice and not always the case with manga. I definitely will continue with this series.
In this unique romantic comedy, we follow high schooler Miu who has a huge on her fellow student Tohno who shares her love for the horror genre in books and movies. However, what he doesn’t know is that she’s a zombie surviving on cell revitalization medicine and he shockingly hates zombies. On top of that, she has to deal with her overprotective childhood friend and another girl who’s fighting for Tohno’s affections.
“ZC” is a nearly typical rom-com story with the zombie theme mixing it into something a bit more different. It has its fun and dramatic moments but it is a good read thanks to its zombie parts. B (75%/Good)
A bizarrely heartfelt comedy about a girl who accidentally becomes a zombie, but gets to hang out with her crush who is a horror movie fan (that hates zombies).
I thought this would be an off the wall comedy, but it turns out it was a bit deeper than that. Near the end of this first volume it got really serious, but it still kept that off beat humor.
If you want a rom com that's a little strange, this is a good one to pick up.
I've seen this cover a couple times but if it weren't for Zombiethon I'm not sure I would have ever actually checked it out. I was definitely not expecting to completely power through the entire series. So this review is for the whole series. This was absolutely silly. That's the best word I can use to describe it. A light and fun read from start to finish. With a few shockingly emotional scenes I wasn't expecting at all. My only issue with the series is it felt like more needed to happen between characters. To have this cute moment with Tohno and Rio (the Rio moment made me tear up) and absolutely nothing with Haru felt so wrong to me. Justice for Haru!
Miu befriends the most popular guy in school (who also happens to be her crush) Tohno over their mutual love of horror. After she ingests some 'cherry soup' her best friend gives her, her body begins regenerating. So when she is badly injured, she is turned into a zombie.
This was funny and also contained cute art. The plot is interesting and I like the characters and their inner thought process which we get a bit of during this first volume. Will continue with the story and see where it goes
Super cute shojo/ romance novel. The two main characters become friends over their love for horror! But they both hate zombies. Shockingly enough Miu, the main female, drinks this concoction her friend gave her called Cherry Soup which gives her an increased energy. She ends up drinking too much of it and ends up dying but she is still alive, making her a zombie! How will she hide this secret from her crush and other people at the school? Who knows! Super funny and has a very cute art style. There's nothing scary about it but if you love horror references and want something cute and funny to read I highly suggest it and all 3 volumes are free on Kindle Unlimited!
This is really cute! I wish series like this would be adapted into anime because this manga in particular is dynamic, entertaining, and visually energetic. I was just really impressed by it, and I hope the rest of the series is just as fun.
A really unusual take on love, chemistry and zombies. I chuckled all the way through and highly recommend it you want something light hearted and off beat
Glad this is just a manga, I mean, come on, I can't deal with the story if it's not 😩. It would be CREEPY 💀 and BLOODY but still cute, innocent, and hilarious ❤
Miu stays up at night indulging in her horror hobby, making her zombie tired the next morning for school. One day, Miu’s best friend Haru offers her some “Cherry Soup” which revitalizes and energizes her for the day. However, things turn unexpectedly around, when Miu has a date with her crush, the most popular boy in school, Tohno and drinks the entire “Cherry Soup” bottle and gets into a fatal accident. Now a zombie, Miu navigates her newfound relationship while hiding the fact that she’s a zombie.
Miu is a refreshing character. She is contagiously happy and positive although she’s not that bright. I love her relationship with Haru because they both have an understanding and trust with each other being neighbors. Tohno’s character isn’t the clearest but I’ll give him a chance. He does fit the typical quiet, no dating popular boy personality though.
The artwork in this manga really stood out to me. Unlike other manga, it’s all hard lines and pointed edges with minimal details and somehow I loved it. I felt this art style really fit in with this fast moving story with sometimes exaggerated emotions.
Overall, this was a fun read. It’s horror themed with a shoujo twist and very light hearted. If you’re interested in exploring the horror genre I definitely recommend giving this short manga series a try!
