No one returns from Faerie unchanged... but most don't return from Faerie at all...
Tabitha and Lysander are out of the Iron Court's sights – for now. Tabitha's convinced that they will be safe if only they can get to the Otherworld, where she hopes she will also finally discover the answers to her questions about the hagstone. And when they meet a mysterious, handsome faery who promises he can take them straight to the Queen's Court, it seems like all Tabitha's wishes have come true.
But it quickly turns out that the Kingdom of Faerie isn't quite what she expected it to be...
Tabitha and Lysander don't know who or what to trust any more. And the closer they get to the Court of the Faerie Queen, the darker and more wicked Faerie seems to grow...
Will Tabitha and Lysander find the answers they're looking for in the Queen's Court? And even if they do – will they be able to return to the human world again afterwards?
The Queen's Court is the third instalment in the River Witch series, a fairytale-inspired fantasy series set in post-technology Britain.
dnf I don't think I can continue with this series. I just can stand Tabitha in this one, and I'm really not enjoying the constant sniping between her and Lysander- just not motivated to read more
A story of magic and mayhem, beautifully descriptive of the world of faerie however, depicting the truth behind the shimmering beauty. About the life that was being depleted of colour and all that was natural as the fae needed the human world to survive and maybe humans needed the fae magic in theirs even though they feared the capriciousness of the fae. All Tabitha had wanted was to keep her village safe but could she, Lysander and the errant knight together do this from whatever Mabh threw at them and she could be very vengeful when thwarted? And who is the girl who woke up under the mountain? she is still a big mystery? will the next book reveal this? Helena Rookwood must herself be either a witch or one of the fae herself, she writes to beautifully about the land of faerie, it's as though she is painting a canvas in front of our very eyes and it is so artistically done too. This in fact for me was the best book so far in a very enjoyable and loved trilogy, supposedly the last book since it is book 3 but I for one would love to read more about both the great characters and the magical world of the fae so Ms. Rookwood please keep the books coming.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
My biggest problem with this book is the fact that it ended so soon!
The book starts out with Lysander and Tabitha trying to find their way to faerie. They’re both tired, exhausted, and not in the best of spirits. We get introduced to a new character in this book who makes their story a little more interesting because we’re not sure whether he will help or hinder. Once they make it to faerie, it proves to be as treacherous and tricky as Lysander warned Tabitha it would be. Tabitha continues to learn her own powers but will it be enough to save them in faerie? This book was so good and now I can’t wait for the next one!!!
The book continues to be interesting though it probably only deserves 3 stars because it feels like a really long chapter of a story rather than a book on its own. And yet more happened in this book than the previous two so... I feel a bit conflicted.
I hope book 4 finishes the story and answers the questions though because fun as it is, I don't think I will commit more than reading one more book in this series. (I don't mind series with lots of books but not when they are effectively just the same one story drawn out.)
The most clever of the 3 book River Witch series so far, Helena Rookwood has spun a tale that is magical. I was given a copy of this book and have volunteered to post a review. In this book we learn a great deal more about the main characters as they do about themselves and each other. Venturing into Fairie, we meet new characters and discover the dangers of Fairie itself. Such a wonderful series with several more books to come soon. It is an exciting adventure, not to be missed.
My favourite book so far! The Faerie world and court is a place of wonder - this is hands down my favourite Faerie realm because it is described in such rich and exquisite detail! The characters really come into their own and new characters make the mix even more interesting. Between Fionn and Mabh, I'm not sure who I'm more intrigued by! A thoroughly wonderful tale and I wish I could read book 4 right away! I hope it's released soon...
This book wasn't bad. But it also wasn't much of anything. The only reason I read this series is because it was free. Had I had to pay for these books, I probably would have stopped at the first book. No don't get me wrong, I loved the elements of this book. But I felt like all three books should have been one book.... There was no climax. It just felt stagnant, even though the elements in the book had the potential to be so much more.
This was a great edition to the series and I can't wait to see where the author takes us next. I was very happy to get a few of my questions answered and for Tabitha to grow up some. I recommend this series to anyone who likes reading about witches and/or fairies.
I received this as an ARC in hopes I would write a review.
Easy, quick read. Nicely explained the ending for the first three River Witch books. Enjoyed the action and conflict. Left plenty of room to extend the story further.
I have enjoyed the series so far. Each book carries you along and is easily read in less than a day. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys fantasy and is looking for a light and cheerful read. I am looking forward for more books in the series.
This trilogy has been such a fun, quick read. It certainly feels like one large story, broken into parts, which would be really good for younger readers. It made me want to continue the story - and I'm anxiously awaiting the fourth installment!
What a book. Such descriptions and magic, mayhem to make this book so wonderful. Wish it didn’t have to end. Received a free copy and reviewed because I loved this book of magical faes.
