USA Today bestselling author Rylee Swann is often found in her writing cave, located in a small purple office in a large old Victorian house in Upstate New York. Here she battles with mammoth spiders, works at her hectic marketing manager job, and enjoys the company of the strong, confident, sexy characters she writes about in her romance books.

Amid all that, she also makes time to snuggle with her two cats, who couldn't care less about the spiders. Much to her chagrin.

I normally don't like reading novellas bec I think they're too short. I know, I know. That's THE point --- it's supposed to be short. But I want the story arc that spans months. I want to get to know the characters. I love chapters full of conversations and days spent with the MC's. And novellas usually are too condensed that I find their stories choppy and abrupt.

But this one? This one was awesome. It's the first novella that I've ever given 5 stars to.

I think that had this been a full length story I would've hated it bec the circumstances involving the MC's would've been full of angst and drama. However, as it IS a novella, the angst level was, imo, low and very tolerable -- which I appreciated so very much.

The story is your typical second chance, rockstar romance. It's nothing new. He lost his girl bec of his own stupidity and now that his head is on straight, he wants her back.

Why 5 stars? It was the how that got me. It was the way the author (my first book by her also, btw!) wrote the scenes and managed to evoke emotions in me with her descriptions. I absolutely loved how Kace proved his sincerity and how he won Presley's trust again.

Interview with the Rock Star by Rylee Swann was a Second Chance standalone. It was also my first book by the author, but it definitely won’t be my last.

Presley Collins and Kace Rymer were college sweethearts. They were blissfully in love, had the world by the tail and were about to start the greatest adventure of their lives together, until one fateful event separated them.

Fast forward ten years and Kace was starting his come back tour and had been clean from drugs just over four years. Presley was a journalist and was assigned to cover his press conference. This would be their first time seeing each other since their split.

It was written with a dual POV and I loved having the raw thoughts and emotions from both of them. The storyline had a realistic vulnerability and I fell in love with everything about them and their story. No spoilers here but it was a fun and unique way to convey a popular storyline theme and I loved it.

In the end, it was an incredibly quick read with a light theme mixed in with some heavy life lessons and consequences. It was the perfect timing for me to enjoy. I was left with some good feels and can’t wait to explore other Swann works.

It ended at 73% ?

I can’t say I liked this much at all, which was a surprise because in the 1st few paragraphs of the story I could for some reason imagine Presley driving the road on a humid southern day that sounded like soo many many days here in my part of the south ,complaining about over playing of a good song til you cringe the moment you it , I swear I felt like I was in the car or I was the one driving it.....
But sadly it quickly went down hill from there for me,sighs and while I didn’t enjoy myself here and would have given a 2.5 rating if I could have, this feels more like a personal preference maybe than anything else but I’m going to keep going soo I can get it out and move on....
Kace felt like a hot mess even sober,to me we never get to see wh the h or any woman would him really, all we really see of him is waking up hungover because of the anniversary of when they were supposed to have gotten married ( 10 years prior) , then it was all either flash backs to their shared back, which didn’t interest me much ( sorry but I either want the past 1st then the present,or I want them going down memory lane together ) any way most were ether flash backs /glimpses of their past or him begging in vain to get Presley back ....
Kace might have been a decent enough guy,but we aren’t really given a chance to get to know the man he really is today, the story was too short...
Pres was right o feel the way she did w/him especially with she’d been through and seen buy honestly after Kace was introduced into the story she just felt a bit distant, almost bitter ( not that she didn’t the right to be ) but to sit back and judge him via video on all his faults while he tried to “prove himself” with a drink in her hand ( when he’s also an alcoholic) just seemed a bit too hypocritical and weird to me...
This was too short fir what it wanted to pull off in my opinion,
Two ppl once mad,y in love , separated by years and lies and hurt and addiction and most of the story is told either by flashback or at a distance, how, how am I supposed to feel connected to that ?
They meet up a very chapters in at a press conference, are together for a couple of short chapters face to face w/alternating p.o.v’s ,that might have been incredibly short if it weren’t for flashbacks and two POV‘s.....
And then the next few chapters were over the internet with him trying to prove himself, and then not coming back together til the epilogue, where they’ve supposedly gotten back together and her friend has found love as well with the marriage/baby combo on the way that’s supposed to seal the HEA deal...
But I just wasn’t feeling it,neither were eager to see the other ,they then spend less than an hour together big part of that was him singing the National anthem at a football game,
Then the rest of the time if him basically begging and such to “win” back her trust via an internet stunt , til someone reveals some truths to them both and the rest happens off camera in the year wrap up in the epilogue, we aren’t given a chance to really know these characters much less care about them ..
Well I didn’t, I was hoping for strong heart felt emotions and a connection and I’ve gotten more sitting and talking w/a stranger in a waiting room ...
That’s it for me ,I won’t be back w/this writer and I’m grateful again for KU...

p.s. Except for his nice abs I don't personally the guy on the cover sexy or appealing in the slightest... I like my men more manly and alpha looking....
Thanks

Presley and Kace are off the charts with their comeback tale. It killed Presley to leave behind the man she loved on her wedding day, but finally the demons of drugs and stardom tore them asunder. She has moved on the best she could with her life and tried to forget the rocker that owns her heart and soul. When Presley walked away from him Kace lost his love and life. Now 10 years later and finally sober when he finally sees her again he knows in an instance that there is no way he will let his girl get away. Proving to Presley Elizabeth that he has changed and means to be a better man for her won't be easy, but Kace is determined, sure and nothing will stand in his way.

Short, well-written novella about a 4 year sober rock star who lost ‘everything’ by trusting the wrong person. On what should have been his ten year wedding anniversary, he just happens to be in his hometown; the same town where the woman he should be celebrating his wedding anniversary with, lives. Coincidence? Unconscious planning? Fate? He doesn’t know. He does know that not a day goes by where he doesn’t think about her and what they should’ve had together. He loves her as much as always and decides it’s time to win her back. This story tells how he got her to trust him again.

Very short story about second chances and forgiveness - Interviewing the Rock Star is not really the books premise but a reason to reunite. Ms Swann has a good writing style with likable characters, just wished it was full length

This is a quick read, I thought the idea for the story was good. I liked the characters both leads were well drawn. But this was just an okay read for me it lacked passion and a true connection between the characters. More could and should have been made of the plot, as it is they spend the majority of this apart, albeit he communicates via the internet. I’m not sure about the cover either.

 Torn Apart

Presley Elizabeth is a young woman who is struggling the best she can in life.  Her past Love, Kace Rymer, is a one hit wonder of a rock star. They met ten years ago and we're besotted with each other. His Hit song he wrote for her and whenever she hears it on the radio it brings back so many wonderful and a few heart breaking reminders of Kace.  They were engaged but Kace was struggling with the life style of being a rock star. Drugs and drink were his enemy and he couldn't seem to help himself out of this spiral of despair. Presley was so worried by his body wasting away to the abuse but there was nothing she could do. Then something happened and she broke off the engagement and hasn't seen him since even though she loves him so very much and he has tried umpteen times to even get her to speak to him. Four years ago he got rid of all his management team, including his cousin, got into rehab and got himself a new manager, Steven. When he is asked to sing the national anthem before a football game at home he returns to where they fell in love back to her. They meet and what happens after that could very well make you cry, sigh and laugh. But oh how beautiful Rylee Swann delivers this touching story to us, the readers.  She is a fabulous author the way she draws you into the pain that both Kace and Presley are going through and she lets us 'hear' what they are thinking. This is a heart wrenching story that takes you through all the emotions of finding love, having it torn away from you, dragging oneself through rehab and trying to get to be the person you want to be and then declaring your love to all the world to even have the slimmest of chances that you just might win the love of the most important person in the world to you.  Rylee has excelled in this book to make us root for Kace and Presley despite what we thought was the 'truth'. She really got into their heads and I just couldn't put this book down as I was too 'invested' in their characters. yes, Kace was flawed but he was not totally as he had been portrayed and he did deserve a chance which Presley was brave enough to give him. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

However, as I loved this story so very much and will be re-reading it again, I have bought my own copy.

DEFINITELY  RECOMMENDED.

Presley Collins is wishing she could skip this meeting and just go float around on the Tennessee River as she did as a kid. It was before 8 a.m. and already so horribly hot and humid. She found herself once again thinking about him… and in astonishment, she heard his voice surround her with his one-hit wonder song. Ten years faded away and she remembered when she was his. Kace Rymer had written that song for her.

After almost 5 years of sobriety from drugs and alcohol, Kace wakes up with pain, disgust, and a crappy taste in his mouth. He’s back in Tennessee on his “comeback tour”, and the memories of Presley were too strong now that he’s back here. Then the radio played “Lie to Me”, the song he wrote for her. So he got drunk. Now he’s paying for it. His manager told him the guy scheduled to sing at the UT football game was sick – but before he even asked, Kace was refusing to sing that song. But he knew his manager was worried about him, that he hadn’t faced his past yet, and he decided to do it. He needed to move on as he was sure Presley had.

The magazine journalists sitting around the table at Sass & Frass are waiting for their assignments. The boss eagerly announced that Kace Rymer was going to be in back town after all these years – and he assigned the story to Presley! She tried to get out of it, but he wouldn’t budge. If she was a professional, then he said she was obligated to do the story. She would have 30 minutes; she could survive that. And he would probably be too stoned to even recognize her. But he does recognize her; and he still loves her. Will he get the chance to talk to her and convince her how sorry he is, how much he wants her back? Will she trust him anymore? Or is this the final closure that she needed to move on?

Wow, this was a powerful book. I have never been involved with addiction, but it opened my eyes as to how it can so easily destroy someone. I could feel the pain coming right off the pages as I read. But I am glad to have read this story, and gotten to know these characters that the author brings to us so well. I definitely recommend this book for many reasons. But read it and find the reason that feels right to you.

Upping the Game💘

Second Chance💔 Adult Romance

I had a very hard time reading the beginning of this book, because this happened to me, only the person I loved and lost and wanted back was suddenly killed. So there was no second chance for me. It really was over, forever.....

So, back to this extremely well written book, especially the beginning of it. At first, I thought Presley💋💃💔 was going to Kace's funeral, that is how sad it was. It brought tears to my eyes.
She is actually going to Kace's presser, put on before he sings the National Anthem at a Tennessee College football game. Presley💋💃💔 wants to give him back his engagement💍 ring, to finally put the past behind her, or so she thinks. She had returned it several times over the years, but he always sent it back. This time she's going g to give it to him in person!

They fell in love💘 before his fame, they were young and struggling, but happy in love💘. Then Kace🐺🍆🌋🎤 wrote and sang🎤 THE SONG heard round the world🌎, and everything changed.
Kace🐺🍆🌋🎤 couldn't handle the fame and the 💰money, the drugs💉 and alcohol🍸, the hangers on, the groupies and the enablers. He fell, and he fell hard, destroying the love 💔between him and Presley💋💃💔.

Presley💃💋💔 left him and now it's ten years later. Kace🐺🍆🌋🎤 is clean and sober, but has anything between them changed........can a lost love💔 ever be found again.......

ARC Received for a Voluntary and Honest Review.
I also bought the book on KU.

Awesome story! Loved Kace and Presley! Rylee you have done it again!!

Presley is a woman with a broken heart. Unable to trust any man after her last relationship ended spectacularly she keeps getting smacked in the face with memories she just can’t escape. Ten years on and one man in particular just cannot stop popping up but that is because her ex is Kace Rymer, famous rock one hit wonder. Shame that one hit wonder is still playing on the radio and that the song was about her. Will she ever escape the pain of the past? She thought so that is until she is asked to do an interview with a rockstar.

Kace is a man with a rough past, sex, drugs and rock’n’roll was the name of the game. He carries a lot of guilt and shame about events that happened in the past that meant he lost everything. The love of his life, his so-called trusted friends and family. Stuck with the memories of the past he is forced to head back to his hometown but everything will be fine as there is no chance he will bump into Presley again… will he?

When fate steps in by bringing these two together but how far is Kace willing to go to prove his love to Presley? Read on to find out.
This is a great story and is a must-read for fans of Rylee and second chance romance.

I read an ARC of this book voluntarily for an honest review.

It’s a great short and well written story with twists, quite different from the others second chance story because of the characters behaviours, dialogues. These characters and their behaviors were unexpected.
Kace is a rockstar, ex drug and alcohol's addict. His addictions ruined his relation with Presley ten years ago, a day before their weddings. He changed all his management team, and now that he’s sober, and he starts a new tour. He needs to comes back in his town. Presley and him meet again during an interview. What he have done is so difficult to excuse or forgive, that Kace needs to find a way to Presley’s trust again.
I found hilarious (or maybe I was shocked, or I found it doulourous), how Presley reacts when they meet back and that he tries to get back to her for the first time in ten years.
I think that is what I prefered in this story : the way Kace organises his second chance to her heart, because he feels so guilty and that he has a lot to be forgiven . Presley refuses everything, so he needs to find a solution, without seeing her.
Really excellent for a so short story.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and I must say, WOW. Okay, this book, this book right here, is exactly why I love Rylee Swann's books. This beautiful and emotional story is why she should be on everyones must read list!!

The plot itself is killer; lost, drifting rock star seeking redemption. Wronged woman afraid to try or trust again.

The characters are so real. Their actions/reactions so understandable and relatable, yet offering up singularly wonderful and unique perspectives/responses. Truly unforgettable.

The steam is at level WOWZA. Seriously.

The action is pretty good. It isnt over the top, but there are a few justified knee-to-groin and jaw-to-chin moments that I clapped for in wicked glee.

Rereadability is high! I see myself reading this book again and again. So, I completely recommend it. I loved this heart warming story and if you give it a chance, I think you will, too.

A sweet, hot second chance romance. It’s never too late when it’s meant to be.

Kace was a rockstar who became the cliche. Hooked on booze and coke. He cared more about his next high than his future.

Presley was the girl that got away. Years of his addiction tore them apart. After the unforgivable, she left Kace and moved on.

Ten years has passed and Kace is back on tour. He’s clean and sober. Fate steps in and brings Kace back to Tenessee and these two are brought back into eachother’s lives. But now that Kace sees what he’s lost, he’s determined to make amends and get the girl.

A quick read with a whole lot of hot and swoony moments. These two had an amazing connection. Kace’s vulnerability was endearing and made you love him even more. Forgiveness isnt’t easy, but when you love someone you find a way.

When Fate Works It's Magic!

When Kace and Presley come face to face after ten years, all the emotional ups and downs between them flow like wildfires, but so does that spark- a raw intensity that held them together through RockStar Maham and addiction- almost.
Kace knows he needs Presley, his mission beyond a comeback tour, is to prove to Presley that he is sober, loves her more than anything, and wants her back.
Will she be able to see beyond his past demons?
A sweet, sexy, albeit maddening romance novella ( I was like girl come on already, I have no patience. ) with so much heart! Loved the idea of moving on from your past, hard work, and redemption!
This fast-moving packs a punch story was just right!

Ten years have past:
Presley Collins is now a journalist at Sass and Fras
Kace Rymer is a recovered drug addict and rock star
These two are thrown together on the 10th anniversary of their would be wedding date, and for what an interview
Even though these two have been separated, they still love each other.
The daily online stream at 9pm eastern time becomes an ungoing interview and Kace's attempt at seeking forgiveness and a second chance

I enjoyed the elements of nostalgia, where both Presley and Kace think about their past and what their relationship meant
Phyllis is a strong lead character and good friend that makes Presley analyze her past, Kace and what would have been...you'll shed tears with Presley and Phyllis too.

Good quick read

I love stories that make you feel. This one gets you from the very beginning. You can feel the heartbreak and frustration from both sides. I can understand Presley not wanting to open herself up to be hurt again. Trust I'd hard. It's even harder when its broken. You can't help but feel for Kace. Addiction is such a powerful horrible demon. His description had me bawling. I think most people at this point know someone close to them of know of someone who had been touch by this horror. To see it described in that way puts it into a perspective o had not considered before. I loved the story it just became a bit too predictable near the end. All in all a great read.

This is an amazing story that will tear at your heart. Grab a hanky because you'll need it. an emotional story of a first love and a second chance between two people who were meant for each other but were torn about. A story of addiction and what a powerful force it can be in our lives and career. Presley is a writer and Kace is a famous rock star who is back home for a tour and Presley is assigned to interview him. They were each other's first love ten years earlier. No spoiler here, but a great story about true love, forgiveness, renewal and a second chance. I read an advance copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.

Rylee Swann has created a book full of emotion that had me tearing up during some parts. This story is about a decade old relationship that ended the morning of their planned wedding. The years since then have not been easy and now, the rock star is returning to the town where it all began. And ended. The flashbacks are sometimes painful to read. You can feel the hurt and the loneliness that the characters both feel.

The writing in this book is excellent. There are references to drugs and alcohol. The book is standalone and has a HEA. What else could you want?

Kace,
Beware! There’s a snake in the grass.
And something in your past didn’t quite play out like you thought it did…

This story broke my heart.
Then, slowly, it put it back together.

Addiction is cruel and unrelenting. It tears down relationships and destroys dreams.
Redemption is hard-won and often there are setbacks.
And each person must find their own path.

Kace and Presley’s journey back to each other is bittersweet and beautifully written. Love isn’t always easy, but if it’s true, Love has grit. Forgiveness can be found. Miracles happen.
Bottom line: Sometimes it’s worth it all. 5 stars.

This book captured my heart the second I started to read it. It was easy to read and a page-turner as well. Through it all, this story will take you through a plethora of emotions. I laughed and I felt pain, just like the characters did. There are many down's in this book, but fortunately, they are good ones as they bring our very soul out into the forefront of our very minds. I felt for these characters and their story, just like if it were mine. And, I am happy that it ended well because that is what I wished the most for these characters that went through so much.
A really awesome book that will touch the very deep of your soul.

This second chance romance story was short and for the most part it was fine. I didn’t love it but I didn’t hate it either. I liked the plot of the story and thought it was very well done but I didn’t care for Kace. He lacked the overall Rock Star persona that I was looking for when picking up a book with the words Rock Star in the title. I also wished there was more in person interaction between these two to help create some of that build up and passion between them otherwise it just feels very flat. This story had some potential and even if it were a novella it still could have been great with just some minor improvements.

Even though I read this book fairly quickly it contained a lot of information and did not leave me asking any questions like some quick reads do. I absolutely love Presley and Kace. Presley had me lmao 😂😂😂 when she posses a question to herself in the beginning. Kace gave a powerful answer about drug addiction that should be used world wide to help fight drug abuse. Rylee Swann you did an amazing job writing this book and thanks for putting your words out their for the world to read.

It was a quick read, medium to fast paced and the characters were well written. They were outstanding in the fact that you always knew what they were thinking about or what they were saying. Every thing for Presley and Kace was magical. It also was funny from time to time. It was an emotional journey for Presley and Kace. Ten years in the making. This is an emotional. Heart-breaking and heart-warming story about a second chance at love. Kace and Presley were always meant to be together, until addiction and the road to stardom destroyed their relationship. Now 10 years later and Kace is back, and is determined to finally get his girl back, by any means that he can. No spoilers; this is a quick read, which in my opinion is a must read, you will not be disappointed! This author talented author has written a beautiful story, which had me hooked and intrigued from the very beginning. Amazing story Rylee!

I've read a few of her books but I must say that this one absolutely blew my mind. It was so powerful and heartwarming that it made you stop and really think about life. The what ifs, how did I go erong, can I really make amends and is it worth all the pain to get back what wasnlost. My answer to this is...yes. Risk is so worth the rewards.  This book is a must read. Congratulations Rylee on an outstanding book. Can't wait to see what you being us next. I happily give this 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy.

An interesting twist on a second chance love story. Kace, an up and coming rockstar and Presley are young sweethearts, deeply in love and preparing to marry when their world falls apart. With drugs, booze, women and rehab it seems like he’s the typical bad boy rockstar but 10 years later and 4 years clean he’s back in his hometown to perform the national anthem and finds himself face to face with now reporter Presley. This book is a great read with unexpected twists and turns making it impossible to it down. I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

This story will both break your heart and melt it!
Kace and Presley had a beautiful, perfect love story. Until some demons destroyed it all.
Ten years later, Kace is hoping for redemption and Presley is still haunted by a love that can never be matched.

This story was beautiful and heartbreaking! At one point I was shedding a few tears while the next I wanted to punch something! I loved Kace’s dates every night! An emotional read, and one of Ms. Swann’s best!

I was very fortunate to be able to review an Advanced Reader Copy of this book!

I'd received an ARC of this book and had promised to leave an honest review. The booked moved well but I really couldn't quite get into it until it hit about 50%, and then pow! I think the author made a mistake by not putting Kace and Presley in the same room long before the book was half over. The two of them had chemistry, history, and steam between them and it should have been allowed out of the steamer a long time before it did. I give the first half of the book 3-1/2 stars, and the last half 5 stars. It is a very enjoyable second chance romance that needed to start sooner.

Rock Star Love on the Mend

Short read about a rock star’s relationship gone wrong, and the mystery of how it happened. The villain is obvious, but the denouement is satisfying (altho I do wish we knew how many years in prison he was sentenced, LOL).

Even through Kace’s addiction, you pull for him to win back Presley’s heart. The voices are clear and it’s an excellent story. You can really feel the love between the two. :-)
