Rating: 3 stars I thought this installment of the Cedar Creek series was just okay. I didn’t really connect with either MC. I felt Tobias went through too drastic of a personality change in a relatively short amount of time. Finch was an okay character but like I said, I didn’t really connect with him. Overall an okay read but not very memorable.
Good story although the only issue I had was the guys reaction to the shooting. Crow who is part of the community gets shot and there are no reactions to it. No going into it at all yet you go into few months ahead in Book 25. If the gang is all close then there should have been some reaction to it and a bit of story for the next book. But nope nothing. Other than that the story was as the previous books have been, enjoyable.
The 24th in the series and It was such a fun read Jesse is back of course and the couple for this book, Tobius and Finch are so cute. I read this in one go without putting it down, which always shows me how much I love a book. 5 stars to Shea once again.
So good!! And I'm so sad. One more book. But this was so good. And now that Jesse is mayor, it's getting a lot more interesting lol. Finch was bored out of his mind, but feeling sorry for himself. Since getting injured and such in an op, he's been floating along. So when he got a call from Jesse about leading Bigfoot hunts, he thought Jesse was out of his mind. But he was bored so went to find out what was up. After being around Jesse for a bit of time, he knew Jesse was nuts lol. That this man insists there's a Bigfoot is killing him. But what got him more than anything was gorgeous young man who came into the coffee shop with Jesse. Who he learned was named Tobias. Something called Toby to him. And he knew the man needed shaken up a bit. But he didn't realize how gentle he needed to be about it until he learned a few things that did not make him happy. He vowed to make sure Toby knew he was loved and cherished. But on New Year's Eve, robbers decided to spoil the fun and try to rob the money being raised for lost children. Finch knows he has to help take these people down along with the security, but with one person already being shot and and several more injured or dead, he basically has to perform a suicide trick to stop some of this. The question is, will he make it out alive before he gets to tell Toby he loves him? Tobias is one sweet guy. He's been through absolute hell in his life, with his step family. But he's finally made it on his own, with his own shop and his own apartment and he finally feels free. And with little things going on, he finally feels like he's part of a family and the community. He's super shy, so it's taking a while but he's getting there. And knowing Finch has his back is helping a lot. It's given him a boost of confidence to help him and now he's standing up to people he never thought he would. Finch is just the thing Tobias needed. And Tobias was a breath of fresh air for Finch. A new life. I'm so sad it's almost over, but this series has been an absolute blast. It's had it's up and downs. Abuse is never something to take lightly, in any form. And what a lot of these guys have been through has been horrifying. But through love, patience and friends, they've all found their ways in ways they never thought possible. They have hope and a new life and finally a chance to breathe and feel like they belong. http://lovebytesreviews.com/
I've read all twenty-four books in the Cedar Falls series by Shea Balik, and I enjoyed every one of them. I would highly recommend this series, you will never get bored, especially with all craziness Jesse get into. He keeps everyone guessing and wondering if he has a few screw lose in his head. Jesse is a very fun loving and friendly person, and you sometime wonder how his husband could put up with him. Especially, when Jesse and his friends, who are just as crazy as he is, gets together, they get into more trouble than you can imagine. But, their husbands are always on hand to rescue them from one predicament or another, after following Jesse on one of his crazy adventures.
I'll be waiting for the next books in the series, to see how Finch's and his friends are coming along with their new business. And, will his friends find love, like he did when he first arrived in Cedar Falls.
This series isn't just about Jesse, it's about his friends, and everyone or anyone who lives or comes to Cedar Falls, and find love or a place to call home. Read the series, you won't regret it, I know I didn't.
