The Vortex begins where The Torch ended with Adie having a major problem to deal with. The bakery has endured some fire damage after little Torch’s escape, but now a summer storm has called to Kellen and he is unable to resist the siren call and now Adieis being called upon to help him before he destroys the city and attracts the unwanted attention of the demons higher up.
Adie just can’t seem to catch a break. The bakery is in need of repair and now she has to drop everything to run to Kellen. Adie is in a weird head space because of the men having to help her heal, but now she has to make a conscious decision to engage with Kellen if she’s going to help him. Things get steamy, intense and absolutely delicious.
Things do take a tragic turn with this book. I get disappointed with Adie for again wanting to lay the blame on others for her own ineptness. I like that she tries to help, but I have to agree wholeheartedly with the librarian that Adie is selfish and that she needs to move past that already. If she was what she needed to be things would have played out differently.
All in all though I have to say that this is a good addition to the series, so I’m rating this serial 5 out of 5 stars. I’m looking forward to see what happens next.
