“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day that you find out why.” - Mark Twain

Ryan Becker is growing strong in the literary scene, a handsome young man with a penchant for the gruesome. His list of books to date are SERIAL KILLER: 200 Gruesome yet Fascinating Facts about Serial Killers, Book 1– ROBERT BERDELLA: The True Story of a Man who Turned his Darkest Fantasies, Book 2 EDMUND KEMPER: The True Story of the Brutal Co-ed Butcher, JEFFREY DAHMER: The Gruesome True Story of a Hungry Cannibalistic Rapist and Necrophiliac Serial Killer, TRUE CRIME STORIES VOLUME 1: 12 Terrifying True Crime Murder Cases, TRUE CRIME STORIES VOLUME 2: 12 Terrifying True Crime Murder Cases, TRUE CRIME STORIES VOLUME 3: 12 Terrifying True Crime Murder Cases and now he presents. TRUE CRIME STORIES VOLUME 4: 12 Terrifying True Crime Murder Cases. According to the biographical information, Ryan aims to write all the stories he has read and watched and letting himself be taken into the world of true mysteries and psychological murder crime stories. He also wants to share his experience of his younger days with the readers on how he immersed himself with the dark reality of the world. He loves to tell a true story that will make you solve a puzzle on your mind. He is now living with his wife and two sons. Ideally, Ryan wants to leave a mark on the reader with his dark true crime stories. It is important to add that he succeeds!

Ryan’s books tend to be more psychological dissections or autopsies of the minds of the murderers he reports. At book's inception he outlines the content - ‘Welcome to Volume 4 of the True Crime Series. In this volume, you will be treated to a look into the world of spree killers. The U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics defines a spree killer as someone who kills two or more people in multiple locations. Though their victims may have been killed in different locations, the killings of spree killers are considered one event because of the lack of a cooling down period. As in previous volumes of True Crime, you will get the background history of each killer, details of their grisly crimes, and when applicable, information on their trial and sentencing. In this volume, you will read about: Jiverly Antares Wong: The Vietnamese immigrant who’s frustration with his unemployment spilled over, leading him to shoot up the Binghamton’s American Civic Association. Priscilla Ford: The 51-year-old woman who intentionally barreled down a Reno sidewalk in her Lincoln Continental and mowed down a crowd of pedestrians. Adam Lanza: The shooter behind the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre. Brenda Spencer: The 16-year-old girl who’s nightmarish home environment led her to be the first mass shooter of a U.S. school. Jared Lee Loughner: The Arizona man whose downward spiral into mental illness led him to unleash a barrage of bullets during a political event. Seung Hui Cho: The Korean immigrant whose bizarre behavior at school led him to go on a bloody rampage at Virginia Tech. Charles Joseph Whitman: Whitman went from being an Eagle Scout, altar boy, a Marine, to becoming known as the man who carried out a bloodbath from his perch on top of the tower at the University of Texas. Mark Barton: The day trader, without a conscious, who shot up the financial firms that he worked at after suffering a major financial loss. Jennifer San Marco: One of the few female spree killers. San Marco’s escalating erratic behavior led her to seek revenge on a neighbor and then at the mail processing center that she worked at. Michael Kenneth McLendon: The small town Alabama man, whose life was going nowhere. His answer to his dilemma was to gun down his family and relatives. Christopher Harper-Mercer: Tormented by his own mind, he entered his writing composition course at Umpqua Community College, and gunned the class down. Dana Ewell: The arrogant and privileged college student who wanted to be a multi-millionaire. When his millionaire father threatened his inheritance, he hired a roommate to execute his family.’

Very succinctly Ryan introduces these twelve murder cases, leaving no details to the imagination. Grisly but fascinating to read the manner in which Ryan approaches his subject matter. As he states at the end of the reported cases, ‘Spree killers are a sub-group of those killers known as rampage killers, which also includes mass murderers. Characteristics of spree killers feel they have been rejected by society; that the world is out to get them. They lose their connection with the human family and feel like they are a failure in life; that their life is no longer worth living. Many of them develop a love for guns for the power they feel it gives them. They embark on a killing spree to end their own incessant suffering while at the same time fatally lashing out at those who they feel victimized by. It is for this reason that most spree killers kill themselves when they have accomplished their goal. The reason why spree killers are usually men is that our traditional societal norms tell us that a real man stands up for themselves. Because most spree killers go through life feeling like a victim, taking a final stand lets them show the world they are powerful. All the spree killers profiled in this book share a common element; they never felt accepted in this world.’
And as a bonus to the reader, Ryan adds his book about SERIAL KILLERS – 6 bloody fantasies Volume 1.

Ryan writes very well indeed and has found his niche in books that inform and make us shudder, avoiding ‘the things that go bump in the night.’ He is very rapidly becoming an authority on crime whose insight is exceptional.

True Crime thriller

I was provided this book for free for an honest review. Ryan Becker continues to write exceptional true crime books. In this latest book he covers speed killers who feel that life and certain people have done them wrong. They are usually people who have a sense of low self esteem and want to get back at those they feel have wronged them. Ryan covers several horrible school shootings, a work place shooting and a couple of family obliterations. As per his usual style, Ryan covers these cases with complete details, background Information and these cases make you cringe at the dastardly and diabolical killings. All of these killers are true sociopaths and it is truly scary to think that there are so many of them out there in the world. This is an excellent true crime book that is well worth reading for the true crime aficionados.

Volume 4 deals with one of the worst sub-group of murderers in my opinion. Spree killers are cowards. They can't take that they created their own miserable world by claiming themselves victims instead of fighting to overcome and be survivors. They are the true definition of misery loves company. They plan mass murders to 'get back at society for failing them' but only kill innocent people who had nothing to do with their failures! Then claiming to be so powerful, these cowards most never face the crimes they commit. They surely run off to hide and kill themselves.

A couple quick opinions

I am enjoying Becker's true crime anthology books. They are quick reads and are well written and thankfully decently edited. Some great full length books are out there to explore about Karla Homolka, Robert Pickford, and Adam Lanza. (I didn't like the full length book on nurse of death, Genene Jones). Overall, a decent book and I am going to see what's up next by this author.

Twelve people who committed spree killings for various reasons. Some had mental health issues that were never treated, some had medical issues but the common issue they all shared was their belief that they never felt accepted by the world. Instead of working to overcome these feelings they choose to lash out at innocent people by killing them. It makes you wonder what lurks in the minds of people you cross paths with everyday. Very unnerving.

Mad at the world 🌎

These twelve stories are about mass murderers/spree killers which include some school shootings. They tell about people who have personal issues and feel slighted and decide to deal out some payback. Although some of the victims are personal, most of them are strangers who were in the wrong place at the wrong time -- that is, in the path of a killer.

An Overview of True Criminals

The criminals that are talked about in this book are well known, at least to me. Same murder, different mode, different name. It's a good for someone who isn't familiar with some of the cases. I happen to know about all but two cases in the book. Overall its a good book.

Shocking

I love to read true crime stories, it makes you wonder why people do what they do. These stories were shocking and you got a clue as to why some of these people did what did. You get a glimpse into a serial killers mind. After reading these stories you will have a hard time forgetting them. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a look into a killers mind.

Another solid read from Becker

Thought the writing may be a little rough at times, Becker still conveys the horror of these terrible crimes. He gives you a fair sense of the killer's background in a short amount of space and follows up with the results of the sentencings. Very consistent writer. Love reading his work.

True Crime Stories Volume Four: 12 Terrifying True Crime Murder Cases was a good read by Ryan Becker. This list examines horrific crimes and delves into the awful mindset of these murderers. This is a good read for any true crime fan. Ryan Becker has a great way of narrating a story that keeps you enthralled even if you already know the cases. I can't wait to read more by Ryan Becker.

It was ok. There was some incorrect info. One of the crimes for example occured in 1995 and the book said the trial did not occur till 1977. Obviously meant 1997 and still there were other errors I noticed. Would have liked for each chapter to have given more than just a basic over view of the spree killer. Also think I might have read the bonus book before.

Brief Accounts of Murderers and their victims

I give this book one star because this book serves as a reminder that gun laws in USA are very bad. Anyone can buy a gun. There are many spelling and grammar errors that are extremely distracting.
