Love Undercover #1

The Wrong Kind of Compatible

Rate this book

Data analyst Cassie Howard may be brilliant (and, okay, a little awkward), but she’s worked hard to get where she is. She definitely doesn’t need some sexy new analyst coming in and taking credit for her work. Or the inappropriate thoughts that keep popping out of her mouth she’d rather he not hear.

For undercover FBI agent Drew Kerrigan, computers have always made more sense than people, but he’d better develop some slick social skills in a hurry if he’s going to win over the too-tantalizing-for-his-sanity Cassie. Hacking their systems was easy. Now he’s just got to hack the one person in the company most likely to see through his ruse…

Multi-award-winning author, Kadie Scott, writes steamy romantic comedies and western romance. She loves plots that move hot and fast, feisty heroines with sass, heroes with heart, a dash of snark, and oodles of HEAs! Other titles include wife, mother, Star Wars geek, ex-competitive skydiver, spreadsheet lover, eMBA, organizational guru, Texan, Aggie, and chocoholic.

Kadie attempted to find a practical career related to her favorite pastime by earning a degree in English Rhetoric (Technical Writing) and an MBA. However, she swiftly discovered that writing without imagination is not nearly as fun as writing with it.

Kadie currently resides in Austin, Texas, with her own swoon-worthy hero, their angelic (mostly) kids, who are growing up way too fast, and 2 adorable fur babies.

Talk about a fun read! Romance between computer geeks who are more comfortable doing coding than carrying on human interaction! Kadie Scott’s THE WRONG KIND OF COMPATIBLE is a delightful romantic comedy that takes “awkward” to a new level.

Cassie knows her stuff, stick in front of a computer and cut her loose, no problems, she has earned the position she has, one keystroke at a time. Stick her in front of a handsome new geek and watch her filters and firewalls crumble as her thoughts go from her brain and right out her mouth!

Drew is definitely a geek, definitely handsome and most definitely NOT the most socially skilled guy on the block. He also has a secret and an undercover mission, one that could end up destroying the woman he is falling hard and fast for. The big question, if what he discovers is true, will there be any way to re-boot the budding romance that is growing between himself and Cassie or will their romance face the blue screen of death?

Kadie Scott has a real sense of humor when it comes to love! Sweet, sometimes silly, sometimes sizzling, only the secrets they each hold stand in the way to love, Funny one liners, charming scenes, some nasty secrets and corporate espionage, what’s not to love? Ms. Scott may have the perfect summer read in THE WRONG KIND OF COMPATIBLE!

3.5 “FBI & Sexy Nerds” Stars

ARC via NetGalley

Thank you, Entangled (Lovestruck)!

A cute nerd MC, a cute nerd LI, people talking about hacking and a FBI undercover mission make this book a funny, intriguing and unique read.

In The Wrong Kind Of Compatible we have two characters who are pretty much perfect for each other falling in love. Cassie and Drew are both crazy about computers and datas and complicated computer language I can't honestly follow. While Cassie works for growing company as their data analist, Drew is a computer specialist and FBI agent working a undercover mission that can lead to Cassie going to prison. Drew and his team know something's up with Cassie's company, and all evidence points to Cassie being guilty of corporate espionage. That means Drew has to infiltrate the company and try to get close to Cassie to unconver the truth.

Well, when the FBI said close, they didn't mean that close, but the attraction between Drew and Cassie is undeniable. So, on one hand, we have Cassie and her new hot coworker who's driving her crazy because she doesn't want to give in to her attraction just to find out he's there to take her job. Being a badass computer genius woman should be enough to garantee she'll keep her job, but we all know how hard the corporate world is on woman. On the other hand, we have Drew and his hot suspect who might be guilty of a federal crime or might screw up his first undercover assignment. They both have reasons to fight their attracting to each other, but the more time they spend together the harder it becomes.

The thing I liked the most about The Wrong Kind of Compatible was how funny it got, especially when reding Cassie's POV. Cassie had an unique personality--she seemed to be missing a filter, since pretty much everything she thought she ended up saying out loud. That made for some really fun interactions.

The chemistry between Cassie and Drew was another positive. They were good together and they shared some nice, hot moments. They both had things to lose, but ended up falling in love and ultimately fighting for that love.

**4.5 Stars**

Cassie is a data analyst, and not much captures her attention like code or all things nerd. Well, until the new employee, Drew, was introduced, that sentence would've been true. But now? Yeah, he hits all of Cassie's wishlist items. Too bad guys like him, even if he is a fellow nerd, never notice women like her. Besides, she's a strong woman and proud of what she's accomplished, especially the new government contract she recently secured, she doesn't need to question her attributes, or lack of, for anyone. So yes, she tends to talk to herself, but nobody was around to hear her current mental pep talk, especially not the new...*throat clearing* Fiddlesticks! How much did he hear? Wait, did he just say they're working together, that his position is the same as hers?

“Take that, hot new guy.” - Cassie

Drew is very good with a computer, albeit by means of hacking, but his true purpose for being at the company as an employee lies with his real job as an FBI agent. He's never been someone known for socializing, but he really wants to win over the adorable blonde muttering to herself, about him no less, and it isn't only due to his need to complete his assignment. Plus, hackers, even one of the world's best at it, don't usually work in the field, but as this is a government contract under scrutiny... Something suspicious, as in illegal, is going on and he's been watching Cassie's work for months, sure she's the culprit, but the target of his undercover assignment is a completely different reality, as is her impact on him, in person than on paper.

"Those eyes… When she’d first turned around and blinked up at him like a lost little owl, he’d completely swallowed his words." - Drew

As the two begin working together, it's obvious their skills are both high, as is the mutual sexual tension, though neither pick up on the latter initially. Drew realizes exactly how smart Cassie is, as well as untrusting and intuitive, and works hard to earn her trust...ironic considering he's deceiving her every day.

It isn't long before their banter, sexual innuendo, intentional and unintentional, result in an explosive encounter. While both want nothing more than continue to completion, possibly a few times, they also know it isn't the best idea. Cassie still doesn't trust him, having had her work stolen in the past, and as for Drew, she's still his prime suspect. But they understand each other so easily, complementing one another's awkwardness and intelligence almost seamlessly, and the chemistry between them is undeniable. Neither Drew nor Cassie know quite how to analyze their connection, but they do know they'd love further, more in depth, input...you know, in order to provide a complete assessment. *wink*

"This woman was priceless." - Drew

What happens when Cassie begins noticing some irregularities in the code she's written? Will she suspect Drew, the newcomer? Or maybe one of the other recent hires? What happens when Cassie discovers Drew's deceit? How will she react upon learning why he got close to her? Who is really responsible for the illegal activities within the company? What will the fallout mean for Cassie professionally? Can Drew convince her his feelings for her are real? That once he got to know her, truly know her, he believed in her innocence? Can she ever trust Drew again? Will Drew and Cassie take another chance at forever?

One-click now and follow along as two like-minded people meet under suspicious reasons, yet discover the person made for them because of it.

This was so cute, I enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. It was short and sweet, almost more of a novella than anything else.

Cassie Howard is a brilliant data analyst who happens to be on the awkward side. One day she gets a new co-worker Drew Kerrigan. He may be an equally socially awkward hacker, but he's also an undercover FBI agent who is trying to find the source of possible illegal activity where Cassie works. He also happens to be super sexy. Sparks fly and drama ensues.

Cassie and Drew were adorable together. They had great chemistry and a lot in common. Their conversations were loaded with hilarious puns and unintentional sexual innuendos. Okay, some of them were intentional.

I was really glad this book skipped the I'm socially awkward and therefore have no sexual experience and thank god an attractive man finally wants to sleep with me stereotype. Nerds have sex too. And by "sexual experience" I don't mean her number of partners, that isn't mentioned or even important. I just liked that Cassie knew what she wanted, what she liked, and was confident in bed. Plus, condoms were used! Yey!

Drew may have been a genius of a hacker, but he was a pretty awful FBI agent. Thankfully, Drew admitted this to himself all the time. It made a huge difference. Nothing bothers me more than characters sucking at their jobs (You know, stuff like a detective, bodyguard, FBI agent etc..) making huge mistakes while ignoring it and wondering why everything isn't going according to plan. I usually end up yelling at my book BECAUSE YOU'RE AN INCOMPETENT BOOB, THAT'S WHY. At least Drew had the good sense to admit that he was failing miserably at what he was originally sent to do, mostly because he was falling for one of the people he was investigating. If I'm remembering correctly, this was his first undercover case, so that helped too. As for Drew's lies, they didn't bother me. I mean, come on. What was he supposed to do? That's the point of the plot.

And yes, Drew did a pretty shitty thing towards the end. Bad form, Drew, bad form. At least he groveled appropriately.

All in all, a really cute book. Nothing that'll knock your socks off, but it was sweet, romantic, and filled with funny banter. I'm glad I read it.

Cassie Howard is a data analyst for a government contractor = nerd. She is lacking social skills and her colleagues treat her a little like Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory. One of her quirks is that she can't tell whether she is thinking or talking out loud and frequently expresses her innermost feelings out loud.

Unbeknownst to her, her new colleague Drew Kerrigan is an undercover FBI agent investigating shady dealing at the company where Cassie works. Although Drew is tall, dark-haired, blue-eyed and muscular he is also a hacker and a bit on the nerdy side too. Oh, and his prime suspect for the shady dealings is none other than Data Minds' prodigy data analyst, Cassie.

Of course we know that it isn't Cassie but apparently the combined might of the FBI can't identify the real culprit.

As Cassie and Drew bond over a love of coding and Star Wars can Drew uncover the real criminal?

How many times do I have to write, I liked it but I didn't love it? I didn't find Cassie and Drew very convincing nerds, apparently having unmatched underwear is code for geek!

A lighthearted read, perfect for the beach but not one I would re-read.

The Wrong Kind of Compatible was a really cute and quirky read. I thought Drew and Cassie were the King and Queen of adorable nerds and I could not get enough. This novel was so funny, "punny", and sexy. It was a fantastic read!

When brilliant and awkward, Data analyst, Cassie Howard meets sexy new analyst Drew Kerrigan sparks fly. Unbeknownst to her, this HOT and "adorkable" new employee is an undercover FBI Agent sent to hack and investigate her for corporate espionage/information theft. But what happens when lines and boundaries between them merge and real life and the Undercover Op begin to blur?

I really enjoyed this story. I felt Drew and Cassie were so perfect for each other and their chemistry so hot! They were both socially awkward and weird but just so adorable for each other. Bravo!

I would like to thank NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for an advanced copy of this book for an honest review! 4 stars! Ratula

2.75 stars rounded up

At first I was quite amused with both characters -- a brainiac data analysis who doesn't quite have a brain-to-mouth filter, and an equally socially inept FBI hacker/agent who goes undercover at her company. I mean, I chuckled when Drew had to resort to finding a How-To book to help him figuring out how to talk to Cassie!!

But then I started to get tired with their awkwardness -- it felt a bit over the top. I also didn't like how Drew ended up sleeping with Cassie before the case was over. Of course I read romance with this plot before, with the law enforcement agents sleep their way with suspects ... but somehow I just didn't like it here *shrugs*.

I also started to think that for a smart hacker, Drew was pretty clueless with catching up the bad guys... and I, as a reader, who saw things from miles away before the cases wrapped up, was getting frustrated.

In the end, this was just an okay book for me. Not exactly loving it but not completely disliking it either. At least we have a heroine who works as data analyst, a field that is more common to be male's territory...

I'm his book was super adorable. I loved every minute of it. I love the the two main characters are with each other. That being said I wish the story was a little longer, it felt a little rushed to me to be honest. Aside from that a cute read!

Great story, I loved it! Take one highly intelligent, strong and semi-snarky woman and pair her with a hot undercover FBI agent on his first undercover assignment, who is as brilliant as she is; stir in a little corporate espionage and toss with pressure from his bosses and you get this story. What a great read.
Cassie is a coder, working for a company that just landed a huge government contract due to her hard work. Cassie works at her own level and comes from a family of totally over achievers. She's low man on the totem pole in her family. Drew is brought in as a new hire to assist Cassie with her work. Drew is a hacker, ex military and this is his first undercover assignment. The FBI thinks that Cassie is at least involved in stealing corporate secrets if not totally to blame. Drew has a hard time believing this as he gets to know her and works with her. Then they develop a relationship, slow but Drew turns up the heat and it gets steamy. Drew suspects something amiss with the three owners of the business but again no proof and no proof that Cassie has done anything either, until the morning stolen coding ends up on her computer and Drew finds it. At the same time Cassie finds papers on Drew's table about the business and other company things. She's a breath away from being arrested, she flees knowing Drew just used her and is busting her can to save herself from being arrested. Meanwhile Drew talks to Max, his best friend and partner and they pull in some extra help trying to figure out who, what and Drew doesn't want to think she's guilty. But yet he isn't quite convinced.
Add to this Drew's superiors are breathing down his neck to tie this up. They seem to think the evidence points to Cassie and Drew doesn't budge on that one. The story gets pretty intense toward the end with several twist and turns and there are a lot of them throughout the book.
This is a fast read, yet it will keep you turning those pages as things heat up and the storyline twists.
Huge head nod from me!! Nice work Kadie, I loved it. Bring on Max's story! I'm ready!

Book Review For: 'The Wrong Kind of Compatible' by Kadie Scott The Wrong Kind of Compatible by Kadie Scott My rating: 5 of 5 stars 'The Wrong Kind of Compatible' by Kadie Scott is book One in the New series "Love Undercover". This is the story of Drew Kerrigan and Cassie Howard. Cassie is the classic essential nerd who doesn't know if she talking with her inter voice or with her actual voice. So things sometimes just come out of her mouth. But Cassie is a hard worker and once she gets on a project she doesn't want to stop so she has a hard time doing so when the company introduces Drew as a new employee. Cassie is taken back by how handsome he is...and then she finds out he working with her personally. Cassie works as a Government contractor so she takes her work seriously and feels somewhat threaten by Drew who introduces himself at first as if he is taking over her position. Drew is serious non social type guy who is working for the Government, and know is assigned to look into this company and more importantly Cassie. Drew is doing so undercover to see what has been going on with this company so trying to get Cassie to trust him went wrong from the start. I have to say this book hooked me in from the start! I so loved how funny these two were in their 'head voices' much less what they actually did. This was a joy to read and look for more books in this series...and by this author. One awkward pairing ends up leading to the perfect match. The Wrong Kind of Compatible is my introduction to author Kadie Scott. She lets readers know that she's a force to be reckoned with. Not many authors can make computer hacking into an exciting story that seduces and intrigues all while laying claim to the body's most vital organ. The heart. Drew and Cassie set out to entice and do so in a way that is as fresh and mysterious as the characters themselves.

MY RATING: 5/5 STARS!

I knew this was a good read from page one. It was whip smart funny and adorable, filled with lovable characters that aren't afraid to be quirky.

Drew and Cassie are basically the same person. Both are socially awkward and both love computers, coding, hacking, and building programs from scratch. Their idea of foreplay? Fighting about how to code the next line or which direction their latest computer program should take. Also, computer tech sexual innuendos. I loved it all and it made me smirk because of how clever it was written.

Let's talk about Cassie. She's smart in her own fields and excels but it doesn't stop her from feeling inadequate when compared to her four brothers who are either a brain surgeon, heart surgeon, physicist or whatever. She's the outside with no Phd to her name and while it doesn't bother her, her mother is bothered by it.

This is another reason why I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Cassie's mother was judgmental, making it hard for her to connect deeply with her daughter. Like her sons, Cassie's mother wanted Cassie to get her Phd and is clearly disappointed that she didn't fall into the doctorate degree path. Because of this, Cassie suffers self-esteem issues, not realizing how brilliant she is, and how well accomplished she is despite her ground breaking successes in the tech industry. I was literally begging for Kadie Scott to remedy this relationship and let me give you some inside information....she does a great job at it.

Now let's talk about Drew. He's a hot nerd and I love hot nerds. Kadie did a wonderful job at creating Drew because we saw how he developed into a charming fellow he was by the end of the book. Instead of staring at Cassie without saying a word, Drew learned to fight past his social awkwardness and creating conversations with the opposite sex. Drew is also so sweet. He takes the benefit of the doubt no matter what which is a wonderful aspect to have in a character.

As for the story, it advanced well. It wasn't rushed so you don't have to worry about whether or not the story was too short or whatever. Nice and paced well, Kadie did a great job.

FINALLY. Moving onto how this is actually part of a series and there are no news for the next novel yet BUT BUT BUT PLEASE OH PLEASE I HOPE KADIE WRITES A STORY ABOUT MAX!!!1 AKA DREW'S BEST BUD FROM THE FBI

MY RECOMMENDATION

PICK IT UP!!!!!!

Undercover FBI agent story this might be, don't imagine it as some sort of adrenaline-spike thriller. The Wrong Kind of Compatible is a romcom of said agent met with a brainiac data analyst.

This is the first Kadie Scott's book I read and I enjoyed the sexy, humorous tone of it. It didn't try to be overly complicated. In fact, I had a feeling the whole federal agents code and op got tone-down or simplify for the story to be easily accepted.

It help that the main characters here, Drew and Cassie were likable characters. Both were awkward nerds, a bit weird on social communication, which of course could be read as them being made for one another. Basically the nerdy jokes these two exchanged - a few of nerdy sex jokes among them - were the highlights of the story. The mutual clumsiness felt genuine, that at times I could relate to what the character did.

The ending is quite predictable and the stuff of eye-rolls to me (not big on grand gesture, I am) though it could be seen as romantic. But I gotta say, I like that Drew and and Cassie didn't dwell on bad feeling and quick to forgive each other. All in all, this is a no angst entertaining rom com with guaranteed HEA.

The Wrong Kind of Compatible is so cute! And sweet and adorable and kinda sexy. Cassie is a data analyst with a brilliant brain. She's a certified adorable nerd with no filter between her brain and her mouth. When she meets the hot, nerdy guy with glasses who's to become the new analyst working with her directly, she's flustered, and turned on.

Drew is just as flustered as Cassie, even more so, because he's not there to really work with her. He's an FBI agent undercover and he's just discovered the woman he has to investigate is hot in an adorable, nerdy kind of way, and he wants to do more than just investigate her...

So what happens when two brilliant computer geeks meet and work together? Well, in Drew and Cassie's case, they banter nerd jokes and discover those turn each other on. Then they finally, finally, start steaming up their zip drives and they're both falling, hard. But, what will Cassie think when she finds out the guy she's falling for is investigating her for cyber crimes? And what will Drew do when he realizes the woman he's falling for can't possibly be a criminal?

I love this adorable story. It's got lots of heart, it's sexy, it's sweet, it's awkward, and it's just plain great!

What can I say? I really like books, where the girl gets to be the geek. As a bit of a nerd myself, I can enjoy a book where the main character is smart and sassy. And Cassie certainly is that kind of a character. She is actually pretty hilarious, because of all the inappropriate comments that she just can't keep to herself.

One of her first encounters with Drew isn't going over very smoothly. As the main data analyst at Data Mines, she isn't too thrilled to get a new colleague. So when Drew introduces himself and immediately starts to offer help, she tries to flip him off: "... I hope I didn't embarrass you. I've been told I can be..." She paused, searching for the word. Drew dragged his uncooperative body back into submission and focused on the conversation. "Candid?". "Blunt?" the female voice piped up again. "Disconcerting?" the male voice interjected. "Quit helping!" Cassie called over her shoulder.... "I'm sure it'll wear off and you will get used to me." "Nope," their audience chimed in. Someone else snorted. "Not even a little bit."

Since even Cassie's colleagues think she is pretty awkward, she doesn't have a lot of friends. So when Drew is trying to befriend her, she thinks his sexual innuendo's are pretty funny. What she doesn't know is that Drew is actually an FBI agent, trying to uncover who is responsible for stealing data from companies and hacking into systems. And Cassie is the prime suspect.

Drew is basically also a nerd. But a hot nerd that is. He is a hacker, working for the FBI to find hackers on the wrong side of the law. However, in the social department, he is lacking some skills. I really want to unzip your files just isn't the right pickup line... So his friend Max really tries to help him out. But I doesn't seem to work, because Cassie still doesn't trust him. So Drew has to find a way to get her attention. And although just being around you makes my synapses on fire gets Cassie's attention, he is nowhere near discovering who is the bad guy (or girl) at Data Mines.

Cassie's suspicions about Drew are only increased, when strange coding is appearing in her data analysis, and when her boss is asking her to keep an eye out for Drew. Meanwhile, Drew is receiving more evidence pointing towards Cassie...

But, despite their mutual distrust, they can not deny the sparks flying between them. Sleeping with the enemy is definitely an option here... As the lies and deceits are growing, so is Cassie's vocabulary: Oh, Gorgonzola on a stick... Can Cassie and Drew untangle this mess? Or will their secrets make them incompatible?

Absolutely funny and my kind of story. Five out of five stars from me. With a special thanks to Entangled Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange of an honest review. I'll be reading more from Kadie Scott, definitely.

FBI agent Drew Kerrigan faces a tough undercover assignment when he's tasked to work alongside someone who has just as impressive computer skills as he does. Too bad she's his target and the only way to get close to her is to unleash his charm on her; charm he needs to find quickly, considering he's better with computers than people. However, the closer he gets with Cassie, the harder he finds it to believe she's responsible for what's going on inside the company she works for. But when the truth comes out about his true identity and why he's working as a data analyst, will Cassie be able to forgive him or has he ruined their chance at happy ever after?

What a fun and interesting read Ms. Scott has penned in this first story of her Love Undercover series, which drew me in from the very beginning due to the heroine's reaction to her new co-worker. Seriously, she had me smiling, as she says whatever is on her mind, even if whatever is on her mind isn't supposed to spill from her mouth. Will her tendency to verbalize her every thought get her in trouble?

As for the dialogue, it was very entertaining due to the hero and heroine's witty banter. The nerdy innuendos and jokes had me chuckling, because it helps Drew overcome his social awkwardness and get closer to Cassie. Then there's the investigation into the information Drew is looking for that makes things interesting. Is Cassie innocent or guilty? Why are the FBI looking at her as a suspect? However, it was the characters back stories that I really enjoyed, as Cassie comes from this wonderful family where she's well-loved, but she doesn't feel like her parents are as proud of her as they are of her siblings. Will she finally realize the truth when things start going wrong for her?

Both the main characters were enjoyable and I loved how things turned out between them in the end. Cassie is strong and brave in the way she stands up for herself when she learns the truth about Drew. I also liked how hard-working she is, and that she doesn't let anything stand in her way of finishing a task she's been assigned. While Drew, I could sympathize with him when it came to deciding between whether Cassie was guilty or innocent. I also liked how he handled his co-workers when it came to their opinions. He would finish the assignment he was tasked with no matter what.

Overall, Ms. Scott has penned a really good read in this book where the chemistry was strong, the romance was delightful and the way this story ended had me smiling because of how everything worked out for Cassie and Drew. No way was Cassie going to go down without a fight when it came to the investigation. Furthermore, the epilogue wrapped this story up nicely, because readers discover what happened to Cassie in terms of her job and how far the hero and heroine have come in their relationship. Certainly, they've found the perfect addition for their household. I would recommend The Wrong Kind of Compatible by Kadie Scott, if you enjoy romantic comedies or books by authors Jennifer Blackwood, Nina Croft or Donna Michaels.

the wrong kind of compatible is a charming romantic comedy about two socially awkward, yet brilliant computer data analysts. drew kerrigan is an fbi agent working undercover to discover why data minds has suddenly won a slew of government contracts, and why those proposals contained information that looks like corporate espionage. his main suspect is cassie howard.

cassie comes from a family of overachievers, and she is the best at the type of work she does. so when her company hires someone in a similar role, she's immediately suspicious. it's hard to be a woman doing the kind of work she does.

the fact that drew is ridiculously attractive makes it even harder. and then he seems to be on her same wavelength when it comes to blurting out slightly inappropriate, slightly suggestive things.

drew is torn. he's at data minds on a job. he's supposed to be collecting evidence that damns cassie, but he finds it difficult to believe that she would be behind anything like that. and it's not just his attraction to her that leads him to think that way. but the fbi wants proof, they're not interested in his gut instincts.

the closer drew gets to cassie the more worried he is about being able to stay unbiased. when everything comes to light, it seems like drew and cassie will end up on opposite sides. but these two hackers understand each other too well, the chemistry between them is not just apparent as they write and analyze lines of computer code, but also in the banter and sheer sexual tension that thrums between them at all times.

The Wrong Kind of Compatible, a smart, sexy Contemporary Romantic Comedy, the first of the Love Undercover series. Cassie & Drew are two scary smart, data analysts working hard to build their careers in New York City. Cassie is a woman who simply doesn’t do sub-par & is currently laser focused on an analysis that will take the company she works for to an even higher level. Drew is the new computer whiz hired to help her make that happen – who also happens to be one of the best hackers in the world.

Told in third person point of view this is a fun, cute, Big Bang Theory-esque, fast paced read. Between Cassie’s internal dialogue & involuntary verbal outbursts “Holy smoking hotness, Batman. No computer nerd has a right to look like that.” & Drew’s complete lack of people skills – “Computers he got. Interactions with people took effort.” the quirky dialogue of these characters will have you cracking up. They have a great instant connection that is built upon as the story progresses. Romance, comedy with a mini-mystery who dun it, a little of everything.

I really enjoyed these characters. Cassie with her impressive mind, quick wit, the classic smart girl, sensible, logical, capable, amazing at her job –are only a few of her loveable quirks. And Drew – who doesn’t love a man who is all sorts of awkward! I adored the word play & how these characters kept up with each other on their own level – stimulating exchanges along with an undercurrent of sexual innuendo “Her smart complimented his smart in an even better way than how her awkward mirrored his own. Crazy funhouse mirror style, but still the same.”... "Wait? Did I say that one out loud?"

With this being my first read from Kadie Scott, I didn't know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the nerd-on-nerd action and chemistry Drew Kerrigan and Cassie Howard had despite them both being socially awkward. When I read the blurb for this book, I liked that she went with nerd-on-nerd romance because the norm is usually 'one's a nerd, one's a total dreamboat'. The banter between these two was unique unto themselves because they both spoke the same nerdy language.
Even though Cassie is a highly intelligent data analyst, she doesn't live up to her mother's expectations like her siblings. But she does take her work as an analyst very seriously since she is contracted by the government. Unfortunately, someone has been hacking the company where Cassie works.
Drew, a FBI agent, has been sent to investigate a hacking but he is undercover and Cassie is his prime suspect. Even though Cassie feels threatened that Drew is there to take her job, she can't deny the chemistry and compatibility that they share, but when she learns Drew's true reason for being there, will compatibility be enough?
I know that I am not giving great detail to the substance of the book, but I don't want to spoil the plot for you since it does have an element of suspense, hence why Drew is undercover in the first place. But I will say this: I totally loved these nerds and I think this is a great start off in Abigail Owen's (aka Kadie Scott) journey into contemporary romance. I hope to see more of her.😄😍

If you are looking for a light, fun read, then look no further than The Wrong Kind of Compatible! This is a fast read full of charming dialogue that will put a smile on your face!

The story focuses on Drew and Cassie, who are each quirky and awkward in their own way. They both feel a little off beat from everyone else, and as if no one really fully gets them. However, as luck would have it, it just so happens that Drew and Cassie are perfect for each other. They practically even speak their own language, which by the way is full of innuendo.

Even with all of the fun and flirty dialogue, I couldn't help but want more. The story went by so much quicker than I wanted it to. I wanted to know more about all of the characters, including Drew, Cassie, their coworkers, and their families. I feel that knowing more would have made for a more dramatic criminal reveal at the end. I would have liked to get to know the characters and guess who the culprit was. Instead, the story focused solely on Drew's and Cassie's attraction to one another. Don't get me wrong, I did love reading about their relationship, but the crime buff in me just wanted more about the cyber crime component of the story.

Despite me being left with wanting more, I still enjoyed this read! One cannot crack open this book and not find Drew and Cassie completely adorable! They are completely right for each other!

I give it 3 1/2 stars!!

First let me just say...the cover on this book? HOT! I'm so used to seeing lots of skin on romance covers (not that I'm complaining) but I had forgotten just how freaking sexy a guy in a dress shirt and tie is! Love it.

This is the first book I have read by Kadie Scott (It looks like it's the first book she's written unless she has another pen name? It's the only one listed on Goodreads anyway) and I really enjoyed it. It was such a fun, sweet, cute read. I loved that BOTH the MC's were these socially awkward, "geeky" types. It was a fun twist from the usual "one nerdy, one not" books I've read in the past. I loved not just the banter between the two, but also the internal dialog, as their thoughts had me cracking up. The things that slipped out of their mouths, and their attempts at flirtation, were hilarious. I loved that Drew actually went to the book store and bought a book on how to talk to women. And that Cassie later found it. I loved that Drew wouldn't wear his glasses with a camera after the first day as his team totally made fun of his horrible attempts at conversation. Drew and Cassie were just too cute. I enjoyed the two of them so much and the attraction and chemistry felt real to me.

This is the first in a series and I can't wait for the next one. It says it will be Max's story. He is Drew's friend and I can't wait to learn more about him as he definitely snagged my interest.

“Wait. That really does it for you? Nerdy sex jokes?”
A pink flush crept into her cheeks. “Maybe.”

Oh, holy mother of geeky heroes! Nerdy sex jokes definitely do it for me—and for Cassie, clearly—and The Wrong Kind of Compatible is full of them. And clumsy, unintentional innuendo. Which is, like, the holy grail for nerd-loving readers like myself.

You guys, this book is so delightful. It’s light-hearted and completely charming; an easy, fast read that’s jam-packed with likable characters and a fun plot that engages from the get-go.

I adored Drew and Cassie. They’re equally brilliant, the same amount of awkward, and totally right together. Their burn was slow and sexy, inevitable and totally winning. Basically, this book was a joy to read, and left me smiling, after making me both giggle *and* swoon—sometimes within the space of a sentence.

I have not read Kadie Scott before, but if this is what I can expect in the future, you can bet I will be back. Especially if the Love Undercover series continues with Max. Lordy gordy, I hope he’s as geeky as dear Drew…

“We fit together like all the components of a computer, only coming online when each piece is snapped into the right slot.”

I love a good geeky, awkward relationship book and The Wrong Kind of Compatible was full of fun awkwardness and sexy, geek filled fun.

Cassie is a genius. She's use to working by herself and people looking to her for answers. She's the coding queen and very happy with that position at her job. So she's a little taken aback at the sight of Drew, a new employee who will be working with her on coding but is drop dead gorgeous...Geeks can be cute but not GQ gorgeous like Drew!

But Drew has a secret - that's he's really uncover investigating Cassie and the company she works for, for cyber crimes. What he never expected was the instant connection and underlying sexual tension between the two of them.

As Drew gets to know Cassie, he knows deep down that she can't be the one stealing the information but there's only way to know for sure and that's to get as close as he can to her, get her to trust him. What happens next, is pure entertaining fun.

I loved Drew and Cassie together from the start. Two socially awkward people who have this spark that neither really knows what to do with. This was a quick fun read that I really wanted to see more of. Having found my own Geek Prince Charming, I love these type of books that show that their more out there than billionaires and rock stars.

What a quirky fun RomCom! The author has written a hysterical story that will keep you grinning and laughing out loud throughout the pages. The banter of constant witty innuendos between the two lead characters, Drew and Cassie, is absolutely adorable.

Drew, a hacker/analysis for the FBI is sent on his first undercover op to catch the culprit of a cyber crime. Cassie, the head of her company’s analytical team, is his #1 suspect. The attraction these two have is instantaneous. But Drew has a job to do and Cassie is worried he’s there to replace her. Thus the office banter begins as they try to scope each other out. Is Cassie the culprit? If not who is? Will they be able to keep their attraction in check, at least long enough for Drew to find out if the culprit is Cassie? Can Cassie keep her lack of a filter in check or will it just further complicate things? These two nerdy computer geniuses are just too funny! 2 Thumbs Up for a great book and I look forward to future stories from Ms.Scott.

If you like geeky alpha heroes, then you’ll enjoy this book. The hero, Drew Kerrigan, is an undercover FBI agent sent to Cassie Howard’s company to use his computer and hacking skills to figure out how the company seemed to have stolen data from other companies in order to get a government contract. Cassie is not your typical heroine. She’s a brilliant, socially awkward programmer. And she’s Drew’s chief suspect.

So, of course, these two who have so much in common - their geekiness and poor social skills, plus their hotness - start falling for each other. The reader knows what’s coming - that Cassie will find out why Drew is at the company and get hurt and then they’ll end up working together to find the hacker. Even though the plot was predictable once we learned the set-up, it was a very fun ride and I enjoyed the interaction between Cassie and Drew as they find what they have in common trumps their suspicions of each other. I like having the main characters both be so smart and enjoy each other’s intelligence.
