I always read books on Kaufman and the Algonquin Circle. Stupid me: besides his career in film with the Marx Bros and his scathing wit, dipped in vinegar, at the Algonquin, I never knew he wrote so many plays!! As this author recounts, he was the author, co-author and collaborator on multiple Broadway smash hits. This massive bio follows his career under a microscope (a good thing!) and one closes the book with the feeling they knew the master. There are sections on members of the "Table": Dorothy Parker, James Thurber, Harpo Marx et al. If you have interest in the lives intelligent, barbed wit, this is the one for you.
