The Kingmaker

Rate this book
The Kingmaker is the fifth book in the series by crime writer Sandra Prior, following Dangerous, Diamond Geezer, Mickey’s War and Mickey's Revenge.

With Mickey ‘Dangerous’ Taylor gone, his son Tommy is the new boss of the East End and he’s taking the gangland by storm, leaving his mark as the impeccably dressed, take-no-shit boss he’s always dreamt of being. With new ventures around every corner, a new bird every day of the week and unlimited booze and blow, Tommy is well and truly out from under his father’s shadow.

But there are dark undercurrents swirling around the Taylors and trouble is approaching from all angles. With a problem in Ireland for his uncle Johnny, a restless wife and scandalous mother, Tommy has his hands full. And those are only the threats he knows about. Miles away, someone is stalking Terri and Georgie with a deep secret from their past, a secret that has lain hidden for over twenty years.

Tommy might have overestimated his ability to navigate this dangerous territory, but while his hot-headed solutions cause more problems than they solve, the cool-headed Sharon watches and waits, quietly influencing him with the sense that a lifetime of experience has taught her. But is she really helping Tommy, or is she pursuing her own hidden agenda?

With the noose tightening and the stakes growing ever higher, Tommy finds that being the Guv’nor isn’t just about the money and the glamour – will he have what it takes to ensure that the Taylor family survives their greatest challenge?

After coming across Dangerous a few years ago in my local library I've been hooked on the Taylor family ever since. This family is far from perfect, and definitely has a mixed bag of problems. I did worry after the death of Mickey, who was a big character in the Taylor family if I would still be as gripped. I need not have worried, I am still drawn into the book from page one. Each book I've read in this series has felt like catching up with old friends. I love how they all argue and have their own problems and lives to deal with, but if anything happens they are all there for each other pick on one Taylor and be prepared to have the whole clan of Taylor's fighting back. My only criticism of this book is that I couldn't put it down, and I'm now in withdrawal from the Taylor's until the next book. I highly recommend this book. Make friends with the Taylor's you won't be disappointed.

ABSOLUTLY BRILLIANT the fifth book in the taylor trilogy, the death of mickey is still reeling through the family. his son tommy is loving his life in the spotlight as a nightclub owner in essex with sharon as his support and advisor. terri and georgie are coping with mickeys death, but there's someone out there watching them from the pass but who is it? i loved reading this book gripping, fast pace that will leave you hooked. this author never lets you get bored while reading, and hope to see a lot more books in the future to come.

Being a lover of Sandra Prior's books i was thrilled to read the new book to keep up with the Taylors. It is an excellent follow on full of twists and turns.Georgie, terri and sharon are still the same but not for long
as they are not alone and things begin to happen. Some one is out to finish them off or try.Tommy is most certainly Mickey's son and vows to hunt them down.I can assure you that you will love this book i was sad that it ended as i was so into Tommy baying for blood.
