Abigail Bontrager is a herbalist. Like her grandmother she hopes to become a healer. She is newly married and spends much time looking for different herbs and plants for her cabinet. Sometimes she forgets to make her husband supper but he understands her desires with plants and very much supports her.

One day Abigail learns of a new area of plants that she has not visited before. She finds the area and finding new exciting plants she forgets about the time and soon becomes hopelessly lost. It has become dark and she has no idea which way is home. She makes herself a bed of leaves and branches to bed down until morning. When she sees the sun she will know the way home.

Meanwhile her husband and neighbor being concerned for her, start searching for her with flashlights. Not finding her, they call the neighborhood to search for her. It is so dark that they finally give up the search. Her husband keeps searching. Read the book and find out how the search ends. If you enjoy Amish stories you will enjoy this one.

Herbal medicine does work

Abigail was taught by her mother how to use different plants to make medicine. She was told by a friend where he had seen some new plants in the woods that she might want to check out. Some people thought she was doing witchcraft and did not approve of her work. Abigail went into the woods to find these plants and it got cloudy and she could not find her way out. She had never gone so far into these woods before. Her husband and other men went searching for Abigail and had no luck. Will they find her before it was too late, or will the people say her witchcraft brought this on her?

Great story...

I enjoyed this story of the Amish characters in this story of the adventures of the young woman who was very intense on learning n the ways of nature and it's healing ways. I always have a hard time remembering that it is characters in the authors mind and not real people.

I enjoyed this short Amish Romance. The heroine in this book was unconventional in many ways and her hero, her husband is getting used to her ways. I voluntarily chose to review this book and gave it a 4.5* rating. And I look forward to many more of this author's stories. This is also the 3rd story in the Pure Read Clean Reads Bundle Set Vol 2.

path GOD setsSweet read

This is not really a romance in the boy meets girl genre. It is more of a story of walking along the path GOD sets for you and watching the miracles HE performs. Either way, it is a sweet story with a happy ending for the entire Amish settlement.

Getting lost can lead to healings within the community.

Newly wed Abigail learned her herbalists skills from her grandmother. When she gets lost in the woods while looking for new plants the whole community turns out to help her husband Amos find her. In honor of her being found a community picnic is held and that leads to another healing within the community.

Everyone is God's creation

God made each and every one of us. Yes, we are each different but we are still His creation. When we love and accept each other, we are showing God that we love Him.

Amish have a good knowledge of nature

This was interesting story regarding the use of plants to help with health problems. Too often I think we jump to conclusions before considering a different approach to helping others.

Way Too Short

I liked this story but I felt that it was way too short. It needs a longer and stronger storyline to go with it.
