Brice Bannon served fifteen years in the Coast Guard, most recently as captain of the Deployable Operations Group, (DOG), the Coast Guard's version of the Army's Special Forces and Navy's Seals operations. When the command was decommissioned, rather than accept re-assignment, Bannon retired from the full-time Coast Guard.
But Bannon didn't leave the Coast Guard behind completely. He remains in the Reserves.
Recruited by the Secretary of Homeland Security, he leads a small, secretive team of specially-trained, highly-skilled operatives capable of responding to and investigating specific, targeted threats against the homeland. Threats that cannot be effectively handled by standard operating means. Threats that call for a unique and often secret approach outside the normal channels of either Homeland Security or the Department of Defense.
When not risking his life for the government, Bannon runs the Keel Haul, his bar in the resort town of Hampton Beach, on the New Hampshire seacoast. There, he also operates as a small town private investigator and tends to get himself in big trouble along with the help of his two best friends and teammates; Tarakesh "Blades" Sardana and CWO Skyjack McMurphy.

If you need a reading break from the serious, this one is good one. The hero is not one of those unbelievable, take on a dozen single handed, but much more realistic.
This book comprises 3 short stories. They are interesting. Brice Bannon is retired coast guard office and part-time bar owner and private detective. He only helps those that appeal to him. Like the 9 1/2 year old boy who rides his bicycle to his bar and hires him to defend him. His mother blames him for eating the cookies. The main part of that story is the mother. She is in hiding and the mob wants her dead. The last story he finds out someone he met in the service is murdered. A page turning story as he delves into this mystery. Recommend. Good read
David DeLee is a good storyteller. He just needs a (better) editor/proofreader. This collection of short stories featuring Brice Bannon was action-packed but lacked depth of characters. In all the stories the endings were anti-climactic. The last story in the collection, Blue Charlie Foxtrot, came closest to full character development, but the proofreading errors detracted from the story.
This is my first time reading this author. The reviews I had read compared the lead character to my favorite lead character in another author’s series. There were some parallels, but not the depth of plot or character. Plot loose ends for me were: what happened to the treasure and how the weapon ended up in the possession of the criminal
Overall, the storyline and main character were engaging enough for me to read another book in this series.
Good and action packed story. Nice character development throughout, although I thought the background of the main characters could have been explored a little deeper. Also the next ff-the-books Department of Homeland Security angle could have been exploited much more.
This is a collection of short stories. The hero lives and works in the dead last of NH. As a NH native it intrigued me. I like the heroes, the locale and the dialogue. Will read the sequels.
Facing the Storm, the first book in the Brice Bannon series, introduces Coast Guard Commander Brice Bannon in several connected short stories. If the rest of the series is as good, it could make the Must Read List.
This was a couple of short stories and a novella. I like the characters and I'm looking forward to reading more in this series. There is at least one more as the first chapter was appended to the Kindle version of this book.
This book has four short stories and they are fun to read! The main character is a Commander in the U. S. Coast , based in New England. Supporting characters are interesting and well drawn.
Down side for me is only that I prefer a longer book.
Tempered storytelling with the right amount of humor and wry
Action without gratuitous gore, intelligent players who are low key but completely in charge and competent if not extraordinary in the discharge of their duties. Two thumbs up!
This book is a collection of short stories about a former Coast Guard officer turned sometimes private detective. The stories are short and quickly to the action. All the stories were interesting and enjoyable. I will be looking for other books by this author.
This book is a great introduction to Brice Bannon. The stories are all good adventures. Quick to read. Filled with interesting characters. I look forward to reading more of his adventures.
First book I have read by this author. I liked the story and am intrigued with Brice Bannon and Tara. I will definitely read more. I like stories where the bad guys get justice and Brice certainly delivers it. For those who like suspense and action stories this is one for you.
From the description, I was expecting a book about special operations type stuff. The first bit is, but the rest of the book is Bannon and his friends working as private investigators. It isn’t bad, but not what I was expecting.
This is the first I have read by this author after seeing an article saying ideal for fans of Clive Cussler which I am. Well not what I expected and definitely not in the vein of Cussler. It was good tale more like a couple stitched together. Will give the next one a read to see if it’s any better.
I like Cannon and hope that Mr DeLee will write more about him. I know these were just short stories but I hope he at a longer ones about him. They were awesome.
