From the New York Times & USA Today bestselling author of TAPPING THE BILLIONAIRE comes a hilarious and sexy standalone about fate, chance, and one heck of an epically awkward meet-cute.

I’m Leo Landry, one of the best shutdown cornerbacks in the nation, and the New York Mavericks’ first round draft pick.

If James Bond spent his days running drills and his nights shutting out quarterbacks, he’d dream about being me. But professional football is on a whole other level from college, and as the new guy, I’ve got everything to prove.

No problem.
All I’ve got to do is focus, right?
Too bad life’s got other plans.

Blond hair, long lashes, and criminal blue eyes, there’s a pint-sized bombshell that I can’t stop thinking about.

I don’t even know her name, but she’s completely screwing up my game plan.

It’s too late to turn back now though. I have my eye on the prize, and I won’t settle for anything less.

4th down and only one goal in my sights—this pretty little mystery girl.

Good thing I’m at my best when the pressure’s on.

Finally book #4!
Leo's story.

description

Leo is a brand new professional football player and he's a bit scared ... will he'll make it in the big league? He was a college superstar, but the NFL is something entirely different.

And instead of concentrating only on football and his very first season.... he can't stop thinking about the beautiful girl he met when he had to go to the team's clinic to get his urine tested. The meeting of football player and medical assistant and pee did not go as it was supposed to go, but still, Leo can't stop thinking about her. He wants to see her again - but he has no idea who she is!

Gemma just dropped out of college because she realized that she didn't want to take over the family's engineering company. She wants to make a living being a singer-songerwriter. But that's just a stupid dream she's too scared to dream. That's why she's taking temp job after temp job. And on one of those jobs she met Leo.

Will they ever find each other again????

I'm pretty sure Gemma's new hilarious temp job brings them closer than they might think ... ☺

LET THE FUN TIMES BEGIN!

AWWWW - SUCH AN ADORABLE & FUNNY STORY!

I loved Gemma and Leo and his Nonna! I totally saw her as Frankie from the Netflix show Frankie & Grace - or is it the other way around? Grace & Frankie? No idea - hilarious show though!☺

Leo and Gemma meet in the most adorable way. HILARIOUS!!!!!

And then it takes them a while to find each other again. And then of course we need some time to fall for each other while trying be the best first-year football player ever and for Gemma to get over her fear of being a professional musician!

Not gonna be easy!

But we LOVE every single second watching our two darlings fight for their happily ever after!
We also loved the other players' cameos!!!

The book was really funny, adorable, very sexy, sweet, a bit frustrating. Gemma is not easily convinced to give music a real shot! But I really loved reading it. I loved that we don't have that stupid misunderstanding or mistake moment with a groupie or something like that. It was an extremely sweet New Adult romance. I loved it!

4th & GIRL was an amazingly sweet & funny Romance! Hurry to your nearest amazon for your own Leo - this one is MINE!!!

I can't wait to see what MM will have for us next!

Oh so much fun! Leo and Gemma are so cute together. Gemma is kinda stubborn but she’s just trying to figure out what to do with her life. Leo is new so he’s trying to find his place within the team. I think some of the best parts in the story were with his great aunt Alma. Oh my stars I hope I’m as cool as her when I’m 80. That lady pretty much stole the whole book for me. She’s a firecracker and made me giggle nonstop. My biggest draw to these authors is not only their storytelling but their characters. I love when I want to be friends with all of them and just hang out. They’re good people.

Leo Landry is the New York Maverick’s latest rookie and still proving himself to his new team. When Leo is doing a routine drug test, he encounters a beautiful blonde haired, blue eyed beauty and he’s dying to know who she is. But before he gets the chance to work his charm, she spills his urine sample and he leaves without getting her name. And when he returns to redo his test, his mystery girl is nowhere to be found.

1 year ago, Gemma dropped out of college when she realized she wasn’t passionate about her chosen career path as an engineer. So ever since, Gemma’s been working for a temp agency, trying to discover what her passion in life is. After a terrible mishap with collecting the New York Mavericks’ urine samples, Gemma moves onto a new job—working for an old woman who sells erotic toys and accessories out of her home via her online business.

Gemma’s new employer is desperate for Gemma to meet her great grandson, Leonard. Gemma wants no part in this setup, but she’s forced into this blind date whether or not she wants it. But Gemma’s blind date isn’t the man she was expecting—he’s none other than Leo Landry, the man whose specimen she spilled everywhere. And as it turns out, Leo is beyond interested in Gemma on a romantic level.

Will their romance be a total touchdown or will Gemma be fickle with her love life like she is with her career?

4th & Girl by Max Monroe is the fourth and final book in the Mavericks Tackle Love series. I enjoyed this fun and steamy sports romance series! I loved the meet cute between Leo and Gemma. I wish their story and conflict had been a bit more flushed out, but overall I enjoyed this one! 3.5/5 stars.

4.5 Stars

The smile on my face has been glued to my face since I started reading this book. I can't get enough of this duo, they never disappoint. Time and time again they deliver and once again this book was no exception.

Leo. First round draft pick and the newest New York Maverick's cornerback. He had me feeling all sorts of ways. He was so charismatic and sweet and caring and such a great guy. I loved, loved, loved him.

Gemma. She was a great heroine. Very relatable and down to earth. She's a year from graduating college with a degree in engineering, but she's recently discovered that despite being an engineer runs in her family, it's not the career for her. Music is her passion and she needs to seek deep within herself to believe in herself and take the leap to make it a profession.

Leo and Gemma had one the funniest encounters. It had laughing like crazy. And it was evident as soon as they laid eyes on each other the attraction was there. I loved their witty banter, I couldn't get enough of it. These two were perfect for each other. Loved them.

4th & Girl was filled with so many laugh out loud moments, especially when Nonna was involved. My gosh she was such a riot, she had me cackling so much. I also really liked getting a glimpse of the previous Maverick's players. The perfect ending to the Mavericks Tackle Love series. As much as I'm sad to say goodbye to these wonderful characters, they went out with a bang. Can't wait to see what this fantastic duo has in store for the new year.

NO SPOILERS!

4th & Girl was the PERFECT ending to the Mavericks Tackle Love series, and my FAVORITE Max Monroe book to date! It was a fun, hilarious, and entertaining standalone romantic comedy, and I absolutely loved it with all of my heart and soul. You can never, EVER go wrong with a Max Monroe book, and 4th & Girl was a prime example of their excellence!

The storyline was PHENOMENAL. I never completely know what to expect from Max Monroe, but I always know I'll be laughing out loud and fully entertained from beginning to end. The plot for 4th & Girl was amazing, and I loved it so much. It was fun, flirty, laugh-out-loud hilarious, and so much more. Max Monroe is by far one of my top favorite authors, and their books are unparalleled. Everything they write is pure romantic comedy GOLD, and I can't wait to devour more from them!

I LOVED the characters. Leo and Gemma were magnificent, and I adored them and their story with all of my heart. They were incredibly fun and lovable, and I couldn't get enough. I loved Leo and Gemma's personalities and red-hot chemistry together, and how their relationship progressed throughout. I loved reading the book from both Leo and Gemma's point of view, and all of their playful, witty, and hilarious banter and interactions with each other. The secondary characters were just as amazing as Leo and Gemma, and I absolutely loved their addition to the story. They made everything more fun and entertaining, and never failed to make me laugh like a maniac. Leo and Gemma's story has been my favorite from Max Monroe so far, and I was absolutely ecstatic with the conclusion. It was the perfect ending for this amazing couple and the entire Mavericks Tackle Love series.

4th & Girl was a fun, hysterical, and entertaining standalone romantic comedy, and I would HIGHLY recommend it and the rest of the Mavericks Tackle Love series! Max Monroe exceeds my expectations and more with every new release, and I truly couldn't have loved 4th & Girl more if I tried. This super talented and hilarious writing duo continues to be a top favorite author, and I can't wait to see what they release next!

Quite a tame book for Max Monroe. Not too much drama or over the top scenes. Couldn't believe it was the last book in the series. Was really hoping Teeny got his own book. All in all, it was an enjoyable, quick read.

Oh my, I had a serious case of the swoons here. Leo, Leo, Leo. What am I going to do with you?

Before I go any further, let me just put it out there, that I voluntarily read an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review. So this book...gah, I laughed. Boy, did I laugh. I laughed until I cried at some parts. Max Monroe, the powerhouse duo that they are, they have it on lock. The perfectly timed zing of a rom-com. There is a definite art to this realm and they have elevated it to a whole new level.

While the storyline was a bit predictable, it wasn't...if that makes any sense at all. The somewhat zany and outlandish characters that Max and Monroe pen are amazing and their interpersonal relationships are what separates a Max Monroe book from many of the others currently on the market.

Leo, Gemma, Alma, Abby...and cameos by some of my previous favorites. I really was quite entertained the whole time. I can't wait for the next series to begin and hope that we'll hear about the Mavericks again some day. Again, thank you to Max & Monroe for a copy of this book in advance of its release. 4 stars.

Have you read any of Max Monroe's books? Because you should. Any and all of them. Their brand of humor is completely hilarious and I love all the internal conversations the characters have with themselves. I didn't just laugh, I literally had to put my kindle away because I was cracking up so hard.

But back to the book, these two ladies can write a swoony male lead. EVERYONE SINGLE ONE OF THEM. Leo, rookie NFL star who is also going to get his masters for life after the NFL, who meets Gemma on a whim and is instantly taken with her. I mean he posts on Reddit to find her, I'm sure that thread was hilarious. And Gemma, oh man, this girl is all of us. She decides that getting her engineering degree just wasn't what she saw her life to be and takes on side jobs to find something she truly loves (ahem, music). Also, we meet Leo's Nonna (Alma), what a hoot that lady is and I would love for her to be at my dinner table one night!

This was such a fun story! I really enjoyed both lead characters, Leo Landry (the rookie Maverick we glimpsed at the end of the Trick Play) and our heroine Gemma who was figuring out what to do with her life through a series of temp jobs. A definite highlight was the eccentric old lady Alma and her sass (plus hilarious online shop she runs). I don’t want to spoil anything, but let’s just say, she’s not a shy, naive old lady. Also Gemma’s best friend Abby, who is so bizarre and flits in and out (literally, appearing in Gemma’s apartment at the weirdest times lol!). I want to know more about this crazy best friend, Max and Monroe! This book seemed to fly by faster the previous ones, but then I always want more from Max Monroe! We get to see some of our favorite Mavericks through this book too. This is supposed to be the end of this series, but I do hope we get more cameos from these Maverick books in other future stories (please!). I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I just love Max Monroe’s books and this one did not disappoint!!! Gemma is trying to find herself and has dropped out of her senior year of engineering school much to her family’s disappointment.

She takes a job with a temp agency and is filling in as a Med tech. Her first duty is to assist the Mavericks football team with their urine samples. She meets the gorgeous Leo Landry when she fumbles his specimen and it spills all over her.

Leo is the rookie cornerback for the Mavericks who can’t seem to get Gemma out of his head.

Gemma is fired and takes a job with a feisty 80 year old naked Alma who happens to be Leo’s great-aunt.

This was a great read!

You don't have to be a sports enthusiast to fall in love with a good book. 4th & Girl is a story of hard earned rewards and heartbreaking risks that centers around a love of football and an eclipse of the heart. Monroe breathes life into characters that are captivating, aggravating and at times down right infuriating, but no less hard to resist. Gemma and Leo score a touchdown in my book.

4.5 stars!!
From zero to one hundred in less than a second, this adorable fucking creature had not only stolen my attention, but with sniper-like precision appeared to be going straight for my heart as well.

Leo Landry is the “newest first-round draft picks for the New York Mavericks.” As long as he keeps up his record, he has it made but his focus is on something other than football. He can’t stop thinking about the mystery girl he met when he first joined the team, and it’s driving him crazy.
Blond hair.
Long lashes.
Criminally blue eyes.
She’s petite and awkward, and she’s completely fucking up the plan.
But it’s too late to second-guess.
And it’s sure as fuck too late to go back.
Once my mind is fixated on something, there’s no stopping me.

Gemma doesn’t exactly know what she wants to do with her life but she does know that being pushed by her parents into a career she doesn’t love is not it. Even though it wasn’t an easy decision, she dropped out of college when she realized her engineering major wasn’t for her. Gemma has been bouncing around temp jobs for a while and she finally finds one that may stick for a while until she can figure out her life.

I loved 4th & Girl! It is a fantastic addition to the Mavericks Tackle Love series and Leo Landry may just be my favorite Maverick to date! His story has one of the funniest meet-cutes I have read in a while. It’s a train wreck yet you can’t stop the laughter from bubbling over when things go from bad to worse in the most hilarious ways. And after their first encounter, I just knew Gemma and Leo would be great together!!

I absolutely adored Leo. I couldn’t help but fall for him when I saw just how wonderful he was. He’s down to earth, a hard worker, and a standup guy who doesn’t let fame go to his head. He is sweet, swoony, and sexy, and I loved his sincerity. He knows what he wants and what he wants is to find the mystery girl. Since the moment they met, Gemma is all he can think of. When Leo finally finds her he goes all in, seeing exactly who she is on the inside and out, and I loved it!
“Good God, Gem, you’re so fucking beautiful all the time, but when you sing, I can’t feel my own body. Everything, everyone…the whole world except for you goes numb.

Gemma was awesome. She was smart, funny, and trying to figure out what she wants to do career wise. I loved that she stood up for herself and didn’t give in to what was expected of her. She is a talented musician and even though she didn’t really see her talent, Leo gives her the support she needs to discover her dreams, believing in her completely.
Gemma’s passion for music mirrored my passion for football. It ran through her veins and stayed intertwined with her soul. It was who she was. And it was exactly what she should be doing.

After the initial encounter, Leo and Gemma never swayed from each other’s minds, both having left a lasting impression on the other. They don’t see each other for a few months and it turns out, they have a mutual person in their lives. Nonna, Leo’s great-aunt happens to be Gemma’s current employer, and when Leo and Gemma finally meet again, it is really entertaining.

Witty banter, sweet moments, and sexy times fill the pages and I loved it all. Leo and Gemma are fantastic as a couple and I couldn't keep the smile from spreading with these two were together. The attraction is instant, the chemistry is electric, and they can’t get enough of each other.
Only two official dates and I’d apparently barreled past the point of playing it cool and landed straight in the “I’m crushing on you so bad, and I can’t hide it” stage.
Because I was. I was crushing on Leo Landry
hard.

I needed more than just this kiss, and I needed it badly. She was like a drug in my veins, and I needed a full hit.

They fall hard and fast, and I loved watching their feelings grow. They support one other and are each other’s number one fans. They are willing to take risks when it comes to the one’s they love and I thought they were the perfect match.  Even when they hit some bumps in the road, they overcame fears and fought for a HEA.

The secondary characters were wonderful in this story. Of course I loved seeing the Mavericks again (I still love Cam, Quinn, and Sean!) along with their ladies but Nonna and Abby were hilarious additions! Leo’s spunky great-aunt has no filter and I laughed nonstop at everything that came out of her mouth. She was a breath of fresh air and I loved her over-the-top personality. And Abby! OMG, what a hoot! She was popping up everywhere and the things she said were sidesplitting. I was basically crying from laughing so hard whenever these two ladies showed up.

Overall, 4th & Girl is an entertaining and loved conclusion to the series.  Though I am sad for it to come to an end, I couldn't be happier with the way things played out, for everyone!! Another Max Monroe hit!!

4.5*

Although I (still) haven’t read the first book in the Mavericks Tackle Love series, I feel pretty confident in saying that 4th & Girl is, and will always be, my favorite of the 4.
Leo and Gemma are both so adorable! Not every book do you find yourself loving both main characters equally- usually my heart leans a little more towards one or the other (and more often than not it’s the hero), but in this case, I have to say I adored both Gemma and Leo equally- their funny and awkward first meeting set the tone for all the Max Monroe goodness that was to come. And don’t even get me started on Alma, aka Nonna- what a hoot! She’s the aunt we’d all secretly love to have.

Anyway, back to the story- did I say adorable? Because it really is! Their first date was so freaking fun and I couldn’t wait to see what else was in store as they got to know each other. I loved how easy things progressed between them, they really were so cute and perfect together. I really enjoyed this story so much!

Yes, there was a point in the story when Gemma maybe got a little too stubborn, but then again, Leo kind of had it coming. So see, it all balanced out for me! Plus, given their ages, the little conflict they do encounter is to be expected.
And let’s just talk about their ages, shall we? Or rather, how they acted their age. I find that sometimes when you have a couple in their very early 20s they can tend to be portrayed as too mature/much older than the really are. But Max & Monroe did a really great job of keeping Leo and Gemma’s actions/reactions/thoughts/feelings true to those of a younger couple, and that made me kind of irrationally happy!

*Warning: This book will make your cheeks hurt from the constant smiling as you read.

4th & Girl is the final book in the Mavericks Tackle Love series. Each book is interconnected but can be read as stand-alones as each focuses on different players on the New York Mavericks football team.
This is the story of Leo and Gemma. I absolutely adored these two. They both were adorably dorky but incredibly sweet on one another from the get-go.
I loved seeing Gemma as someone who was a bit uncoordinated (not over done, btw) but still be headstrong. She had a passion for something that her family thought too frivolous. She's wandering a bit in her professional life trying to find the one thing that makes her feel optimistic about her future.
Enter Leo Landry. He is a rookie with the Mavs and as soon as he meets Gemma for the first time (giggle), he knows there's something about her. When they finally get together, he's a complete and total swoon-worthy dreamboat. He believes in Gemma 110% and gives her the push that she needs to believe in herself.
This story was so sweet, so cute, so adorable.

And it *must* be noted that I am completely in love with Leo's Nonna, Alma. She was the cherry on this friggin story!!
Also, it *must* be noted that I want more deets on Abby...can we have a spin-off, Max Monroe?!

5 Best Meet Cute Stars!!!

I’m admittedly sad this is the last book in this series by Max and Monroe, but talk about going out on top. I’ve not been shy about my love for all their words and it seems with each new book I get a favorite. 4th and Girl is no different. I’m IN LOVE with Leo and Gemma!!

Imagine having your dreams of playing in the NFL come true but you can’t focus doing what you’re being paid a lot of money to do because you think you’ve met the girl of your dreams….this is what’s happening with Leo Landry. Problem is, he can’t seem to locate this girl easily…but never doubt a man on a mission.

For her part, Gemma is a beautiful, sweet, intelligent and bright girl who’s trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life…she knows for certain it’s not being an engineer. And so our story begins with Leo and Gemma and how they find the one thing they weren’t looking for….Love!!

This book was such a fun read. It’s filled with all the things I love about Max Monroe books…sassiness, sexiness, a H/h that really are meant to be together and true laugh out loud moments that even had me snort laughing at times. There wasn’t a moment in this book that I didn’t love…except that moment when I turned the last page I knew the book was over…I have no doubt I’ll be doing a re-read of the entire Mavericks series in the very near future!!

4th & Girl- Leo and Gemma

Ahh…the end of the series. Boo.

This book and the entire series were so good. Each couple is amazing, with funny banter and sizzling chemistry. Plus the guys create such a fun world together, just light and entertaining reads.

Leo and Gemma have a very unconventional meet cute..it has something to do with a certain fluid flying everywhere. Anyway, Gemma has no idea what she wants to do in life so she works temp jobs for the time being. She loves music but that’s just a hobby.

Leo is a pro football player for the Mavericks and the first time he sees Gemma, he is intrigued. Their first meeting didn’t go so well and their second is quite unbelievable as well. But between the team and the girl, cocky Leo don’t stand a chance.

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

As usual with Max Monroe, this was a fun and fast read. Leo and Gemma's tale begins in the most awkward of ways, and things only get funnier from there. Once they finally reconnect after their weird initial meeting, and they get past some awkward nerves on their first date, these two really open up to each other and are a really sweet couple.

Throw in Leo's Nonna, and you're in for some hilarious moments. That woman is a cracker of an old geezer and was definitely one of the main stars of this story.

The ending of this was just perfect as well. I literally laughed out loud at the perfection of it.

Fast, fun, sweet, this was a great read and if you're a Max Monroe fan you definitely want to jump on this one.

Finally Leo's story and it's absolutely perfect! I thought that I already had a favorite in this series, but Leo Landry has stolen my book heart!

Max Monroe continue to write wonderful stories that always deliver the feels. Their attention to detail as well as the crazy plots and locations add to the awesomeness that is the writing of Max Monroe.

In this book, Leo is a rookie football player for the New York Mavericks. Leo is sweet, considerate and super swoony on so many levels. When Leo meets Gemma Holden, it is absolutely the most fantastic and hilarious meet cute! I can't even with the way their paths first cross.

The back and forth POV's is exactly the way the book should be written. It helps you to fall in love with both of the lead characters so easily. I could not stop laughing during this book. Like I said before, Max Monroe's attention to details, story plots are completely spot on and entertaining!

Just do yourself a solid and one click this book. And if you haven't read the entire series...what are you waiting for???

I think this might be the cutest book I've ever read. It was funny, sweet, filled with most embarrassing things happening known to a person. I loved the chemistry between Gemma and Leo. I loved him for wanting the best for her even when she was to scared to do anything about it.

I loved seeing the "old" characters. And than Nonnie and BFF Abby were hilarious side characters.

It would seem Max Monroe can't write anything that isn't simple amazing. Another great read and another amazing couple to get to know.

The Mavericks Tackle Love have been a favorite series by far from Max Monroe. I remember when these duo debut and love their unique writing and quirkiness. There is no stopping them for sure with 4th & Girl. They had me falling all over football star Leo and our wonderful heroine Gemma.

4th and Girl had me smiling from ear to ear and snort giggling. This story hit all the marks from feeling butterflies to feeling the heat level! The characters were all a hoot! I could not get enough of 4th & Girl and recommend it all around.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LEO.

Once you start reading you will definitely lol with Leo & Gemma and Nonna is priceless. This series every guy will make you swoon but Leo will make you swoon hard. I love Gemma & Leo together and their ending was absolutely perfect. Another touchdown from Max Monroe that everyone must one click.

I received a free copy through Social Butterfly PR in exchange for an honest and unbiased review/opinion.

3.5 stars — This one had so many good moments—moments where I laughed and moments where I swooned—but if I’m being honest, I struggled to maintain interest in the story as well. I enjoyed it, but I just wasn’t captured I guess. I wasn’t sucked into Leo and Gemma’s romance, and I just didn’t feel any strong chemistry. Basically, it was good, it just wasn’t great for me.

Leo was pretty adorable. I will admit that sometimes his cocky moments threw me off, b/c most of the time he was really humble, hard-working, and with a good head on his shoulders. I know we’re given the impression that he acts cocky as sort of a front, but I guess I never really understood why. It was like that aspect of his personality was only there to make his appearances in Trick Play make sense. If not for that, he was a seriously solid hero. I loved his budding friendship with Cam. I loved that he took his career in football seriously, but that he didn’t have blinders on and was thinking about the future as well. And I loved how adorably inept he was in his relationship with Gemma…it was like this was his first serious relationship, and he just got befuddled so often.

Gemma was spunky and fun, but even her personality had some dichotomies that didn’t work for me. She had moments of acting ditzy, and moments of super intelligence. I never quite figured her out. I totally got her college epiphany, and thought she made the right choice. But it was strange to have a heroine who just floundered and didn’t seem to have much drive. Not that I, personally, have much drive…but still, I just didn’t connect with her for some reason.

As for their romance…well, I didn’t feel like I had enough time to really fall in love with it. I was impatient to get to them being together, and so became frustrated with so much time apart (especially since I wasn’t getting character growth that I understood). Now, when they did get together, it was super sweet! I loved their first two dates, and could feel their connection there. Strangely enough, I didn’t feel their steamy chemistry as much, but maybe that was just me. It felt very rushed. And then after that perfect romantic middle, we got more time jumps, and I didn’t get a chance to see their relationship evolve. So I was lost a bit again.

Now saying all that, I loved the ending and the epilogue, I just felt like the story needed tightening up or something. Lots of potential, it just didn’t hit with me.

I enjoyed the secondary characters, but I will admit I was occasionally baffled by them as well. Especially Abby. What was that girl’s deal? I didn’t particularly like her, was I supposed to? At one point I actually wondered if Gemma was insane and Abby was just a figment of her imagination…but that was for like .2 seconds. The football guys were fun as always. Aunt Alma/Nonna was interesting. I enjoyed her, but probably not as much as others did.

So yeah. There’s my rambling review. I’m rounding up because the moments that made me laugh and smile and gave me butterflies were truly awesome…I just wish there had been more of them for me.
