1 I just can't do it Stars
Sorry but I'm tappin' out at 20%. I don't think I have ever DNFed a Netgalley book, but I honestly can't take anymore of this. I wanted to quit as soon as I got 3 pages into the prologue because I had no clue what was going on. I held out and read 3 more chapters. When I got to chapter 4 and I was still bored, and uninterested I knew it was time to give it up.
The fact of the matter is this book confused and bored me to death. The whole prologue I was thinking what the hell is going on. Who are these people, and why should I care? The start was like being thrown into a wreck. Chaos everywhere. Then chapter one started and I was still trying to figure out what was going on. It was so frustrating. I had no back story for the main characters. No connection to them. It was a hot mess.
Then when I finally did get my bearings of who these people were, I didn't care because there was no depth to them. No back story, nothing to connect me to them. I seen some names from another series by Lora Leigh that I read a few years back. The Elite ops series, but that just confused me again. How the hell do they tie into this series. The plot had no depth either. Ivan and Syn jump into bed in chapter 1. I felt no chemistry between them at all. Therefore the sex felt like flat words. Still I forced myself to keep going. I never got into it. I was bored and didn't care what happened to the main couple. On top of that I don't feel this book can be a stand alone read. It was evident that I was missing things that were either touched on in book one or maybe even The Elite Ops series. Either way it felt like I was punishing myself by reading this book. So I quit. Sorry there are Lora Leigh books that I own and love but this one isn't gonna work for me. Maybe if I didn't spend so much time confused, I would have connected but either way I'm out. DNF @20% chapter 4!

Dagger's Edge is the second book in the Brute Force Series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone. Ivan Resnova is a Russian Mobster who is considered to be royalty. He has faced great trauma in his life and his experiences have made him hard. Crimsyn "Syn" Delaney also comes from a crime family who is guilty of some of the atrocities committed against Ivan. When Syn finds herself in a forced engagement with a family friend, she will do anything to escape. As her path crosses with Ivan the two are physically and emotionally drawn to one another. Despite the significant age difference and the fact that their families are mortal enemies, the two come together and vow to overcome.
Overall, I would recommend Dagger's Edge to anyone who enjoys a great deal of action and smoking hot passion!

"I want you to fuck my mouth first."Told in multiple POV, Dagger's Edge had a very complex plot. Although the main conflict was clear, there was so much going on that at times I felt myself overwhelmed with sorting all of the details out. Still, I found the physical connection between Syn and Ivan to be smoldering and the love they felt for one another to be authentic and full of passion. The secondary characters enhanced the story and yet, perhaps I would have felt more connected if I had read the first book in the series.
"I wish I had come to you sooner."
Overall, I would recommend Dagger's Edge to anyone who enjoys a great deal of action and smoking hot passion!

When I was looking at this book before I requested it, I saw it was an author I liked and the hero was a Russian, so of course I requested it. When I got it, I saw it was a second book. I had to go see if I had read the first....I had and oh no, I said I didn't want to read this one. I said I try it and if I have to DNF it I will. But I loved it.
The prologue messed me up. I'm like who are these people, but it all becomes clear. I was prepared to hate Ivan, but he was a yummy Russian teddy bear. Journey/Crimsyn is awesome and holds her own against his grumpiness. They were great together and smokin' hot even with him being much older. The bad guy totally took me by surprise.
I'm glad I gave this one a chance. Now the next book, I will give a chance since I'm pretty sure I figured out who it will be....

Great story full of passion and suspense. Definitely read book 1 first!

I have to say it took me a few chapters to get into the story. The prologue completely lost me. I actually thought about not continuing the book because I had no idea what it was trying to say. I felt like I was thrown into the middle of a scene. This book is obviously a part two in the series.
Thankfully, I decided to put aside trying to find follow plot and just read. Once I did that and opened myself up to the writing, the story turned out to be awesome.
The author gave us a story of family feud, hate, control, violence. I’m sure that doesn’t sound intriguing on its own. However, she also gave us a story of amazing heat, fire, passion, and intrinsic love.
Balanced together, this story was one that was complex and very hard to put down. It also made me realize that I definitely have to read book one and then come back and read this again.
One thing I’ve seen many times in a series of books is that it’s not clearly stated that reading the prior books is critical to the full enjoyment for the reader.
While the author did a good job blending and giving you some of the backstory throughout this book, it’s obvious that so much more is missing. Definitely read book one first.
I’m glad I found a new romantic suspense author to add to my one click list. Lora Leigh has fabulous storytelling abilities that stand out amongst the crowd.

Questo romanzo mi è piaciuto da morire, una BOMBA!
Prima di addentrarci nella storia e nei suoi personaggi però, dobbiamo fare un passo indietro. L’autrice ha scritto diverse serie, fra le quali la “Elite Ops”, e proprio nell’ultimo volume di questa serie, intitolato “Una missione per due” , abbiamo la storia dedicata a Tehya e Jordan Malone; vi dico tutto questo perché parte del vissuto di Journey, la nostra protagonista, è raccontato in quel libro e perciò ne consiglierei la lettura solo per avere un quadro più chiaro del suo background, oltre a godervi un altro bel libro. In ogni caso, potete tranquillamente leggerlo come “stand-alone” senza problemi di sorta. Il libro è narrato dal punto di vista sia dei protagonisti, sia dei personaggi che fanno capolino nella storia, come i già menzionati Tehya e Jordan, e nonostante contenga scene hot esplicite è molto più sentimentale rispetto ad altri romanzi dell’autrice.
Ma torniamo ai protagonisti. Journey è una donna in fuga sotto un’altra identità da ormai quattro anni, e per aiutare un’amica si troverà accanto all’uomo che segretamente desidera da molto tempo. I suoi ipnotici occhi verdi sono dei puri magneti per l’uomo in questione che non l’ha dimenticata, anzi la vuole con sé, solo non sa fino a che punto. Ivan Resnova, acerrimo nemico della famiglia di Journey, è un personaggio a tratti spietato, che ha dovuto giocare con le carte che la vita gli ha riservato ribaltando più volte un destino ingiusto. È un uomo affascinante, forse fin troppo navigato per Journey, eppure non possono fare a meno di orbitare l’uno accanto all’altro; ciò non farà che stuzzicare i nemici che li vogliono morti, ma quando c’è di mezzo la passione e l’illusione dell’amore allora tutto è possibile.
Dire che ho sentito tutta la solitudine, lo strazio e al tempo stesso la forza interiore di Journey è dir poco, a tratti mi sono commossa, perché ha descritto talmente bene certe sensazioni che non puoi fare a meno di viverle sulla pelle; l’intensità dei suoi sentimenti repressi, la ricerca dell’amore e l’inevitabile rassegnazione di una vita priva di affetto mi hanno colpita molto, così come la maturità e la determinazione del nostro alpha Ivan che, nonostante i pochi sprazzi della sua storia passata, fa intuire la sua forza, dettata anche dal suo essere brutalmente onesto e duro, ma al contempo rispettoso delle tradizioni che gli furono tramandate. Ho adorato la loro lotta interiore, ho sospirato nelle scene esplicite, e senza dubbio ho apprezzato il fatto che non la tirassero per le lunghe, anzi! L’autrice tempestivamente ha tenuto un ritmo ben cadenzato, che non mi ha mai annoiata, anzi mi ha tenuta incollata per le tre ore e poco più che ho impiegato a terminare quest’affascinante lettura; c’era inoltre una buona dose di azione, un altro elemento a favore, specie non essendo cruente come al solito ma più soft.
Insomma, mi sono divertita, per me Lora Leigh è una garanzia e, nonostante i suoi libri siano sempre più o meno schematici, trovo sempre un qualcosa che mi sorprende e mi fa venir voglia di leggere subito un altro suo romanzo.
Io mi sono fatta avvolgere piacevolmente da quest’incantesimo d’amore, e voi oserete fare altrettanto?

Dagger’s Edge was an exciting and fast-paced read with a great suspense plot and an incredibly sexy romance.
Crimsyn "Syn" Delaney thought she managed to outrun the danger that has plagued her for the last four years. When danger finds her again, she turns to Ivan Resnova for help. Syn thought her time with Ivan had passed and never expected to see him again, but with danger at every turn Ivan may be the only one who can help Syn to safety even if it means risking her heart in the process.
The romance in this book weirded me out a bit at first as Ivan is the father of the first book’s heroine. As the book went on though, the age difference was easier to overlook and I found myself enjoying Syn and Ivan’s romance. Ivan finds himself unexpectedly falling for Syn and has a hard time convincing her of that due to trust issues she has. One area without any problems though is in their physical relationship. Their physical chemistry is off the charts and the scenes between Syn and Ivan are incredibly sexy with the perfect amount of steaminess. Fair warning to those who like their romances less explicit, the sex scenes in this book are very frequent with a lot of detail.
The book starts out with a flashback to four years prior to the rest of the book which ended up just confusing me. There’s no explanation for the scene or who anyone is and you’re essentially just dropped into the middle of it and expected to figure it out. If you haven’t read the first book in this series, you may be a bit confused as to who everyone is plus the scenes in the present pick up immediately after the first book. I found the plot with Syn’s family to be compelling and enjoyed it more as time went on and I was able to work out what was happening. The ending held a few surprises and I found myself liking the latter half of the book more than the first half.
Overall Dagger’s Edge ended up being a fun, sexy read and I’ll definitely read future books in the series. While this series isn’t my favorite, it perfectly hits the spot for a sexy romantic suspense read and I’d recommend it if you’re in the mood for one.

After meeting Journey (aka Syn) in book one, I was definitely interested in the intense chemistry brewing between her and Ivan. I loved that this opens up almost immediately after the events of Collision Point and that we get such a potent history that connects the MCs on a level deeper then just the physical.
Their bonkers courtship worked for me and I found myself really enjoying Ivan and Journey's love story. It was sexy and angsty and the drama kept me rooted to my kindle. Not to mention the yummy tension that caused sparks every time they were together :)
It really helped that we get both MCs' POVs because I loved knowing that although Journey was torn about their arrangement (since she asked for an illusion but was in fact in love with him) that Ivan knew it wasn't a game, he really was treating her like the love of his life and not as a role he was playing. It went a long way, knowing that Ivan never planned to let Journey go. He was my favorite type of Hero, protective, caring and wickedly alpha.
Quick Summary:
Journey has been on the run, trying to stay one step ahead of her crazy psycho family for the last four years. Years that have been hard on her, both physically and mentally. When fates places her in Ivan's orbit again, she is torn between wanting to turn and run and staying to grasp as much pleasure as she can with the only man she's ever wanted. But it's a bit tricky when he is the same man who has made a career of hunting and exacting revenge on her father and grandfather for a terrible betrayal.
When Ivan proposes they team up, Journey doesn't see any other option but to take him up on his offer, but not before deciding she should get something out of this arrange. Having been fascinated with Ivan for years, Journey figures if they're going to pretend to be lovers to enrage and hopefully get her family to slip up, the least Ivan can do is give her the illusion of the real thing.
Lora Leigh is the queen of crazy over the top plot devices and she has a flare for writing villains who really are insane and straight up horrible people and she doesn't disappoint in this latest book. It also still delivers explosive chemistry and scorching heat between the MCs.
Would I recommend?
If the May/December trope is your trope of choice, you'll enjoy this one. I really liked Journey and Ivan. The chemistry between them is undeniable and has the best kind of tension simmering between them 24/7

Their bonkers courtship worked for me and I found myself really enjoying Ivan and Journey's love story. It was sexy and angsty and the drama kept me rooted to my kindle. Not to mention the yummy tension that caused sparks every time they were together :)
It wasn't an illusion. This was her reality. She loved. And she was loved in turn.
It really helped that we get both MCs' POVs because I loved knowing that although Journey was torn about their arrangement (since she asked for an illusion but was in fact in love with him) that Ivan knew it wasn't a game, he really was treating her like the love of his life and not as a role he was playing. It went a long way, knowing that Ivan never planned to let Journey go. He was my favorite type of Hero, protective, caring and wickedly alpha.
Quick Summary:
Journey has been on the run, trying to stay one step ahead of her crazy psycho family for the last four years. Years that have been hard on her, both physically and mentally. When fates places her in Ivan's orbit again, she is torn between wanting to turn and run and staying to grasp as much pleasure as she can with the only man she's ever wanted. But it's a bit tricky when he is the same man who has made a career of hunting and exacting revenge on her father and grandfather for a terrible betrayal.
When Ivan proposes they team up, Journey doesn't see any other option but to take him up on his offer, but not before deciding she should get something out of this arrange. Having been fascinated with Ivan for years, Journey figures if they're going to pretend to be lovers to enrage and hopefully get her family to slip up, the least Ivan can do is give her the illusion of the real thing.
Lora Leigh is the queen of crazy over the top plot devices and she has a flare for writing villains who really are insane and straight up horrible people and she doesn't disappoint in this latest book. It also still delivers explosive chemistry and scorching heat between the MCs.
Would I recommend?
If the May/December trope is your trope of choice, you'll enjoy this one. I really liked Journey and Ivan. The chemistry between them is undeniable and has the best kind of tension simmering between them 24/7

My Review:
Dagger's Edge is a story that I listened to so quickly. This is a story that you can easily have an quick immersive experience with. There is something that is so edgy and fun and quite refreshing for this author. If you love a good spicy romantic suspense, then this author and book is a most definitely yes for you. Its always such a delight to return to this author and experience her stories and her heroes are so alphaholes and its absolutely delightful since you rarely since that type of hero anymore being written. And quite frankly its so refreshing to read at times.
Dagger's Edge deals with some tough topics. We have a heroine who is used by her own family and manipulated and we have to see her go through some rough times. Our hero is out for revenge for crimes that her family has committed against him. But when her life is put in danger, they are forced in a situation of being back together and reconnecting the spark they once had when he rescued her from her own family. I just broke for this heroine and everything that she was having to deal with. She also deals with many insecurities and also certain attitudes because of how she has been betrayed so often, she has major trust issues. But the hero, one is a alpha but also doesn't make apologies and is trying to earn her trust through his actions. It takes some time but once she realizes his devotion and love is for real, then things really start to click for them. I loved how protective he is of her, even from herself.
Overall this book was a blast of a good time and I couldn't seem to get enough of it. I can't wait to explore more of this series soon and read more of this author's backlist.

This is the second book I have read by Lora Leigh, and I enjoyed it for the most part. Thanks go to the publisher, via Net-Galley, for the chance to read and review in advance of publication. Dagger’s Edge is an action-packed romantic suspense novel that walks the edge of erotica.
Ms. Leigh writes fantastic suspense scenes that had me nibbling on my nails, waiting to find out what would happen next. It quickly drew me in, and I had a hard time putting it down. This is a plot-driven story, and for anyone who loves hot, steamy sexual scenes, there are plenty of those.
Regarding the characters, I never truly became vested in either of them. I would have liked more inner thoughts from both of them. The relationship was all about sex with very little emotional connection between the pair, so as a romance this book didn’t work for me. At times, the sexual scenes seemed out of place. I found myself flipping through them to get onto the action. I’m sure other readers may not agree because reading is very subjective.
What did work for me, is the high suspense and the startling surprise at the end when I found out who the villain was. I could feel the heroine’s pain at this realization. If I were to give two ratings for this book, I’d give 5 Gold Crowns for the suspense and 2 for the romance, hence my 3.5 rating.
If you love high suspense and lots of sexual scenes, then you will enjoy Dagger’s Edge. While the romance didn’t work for me, the suspenseful aspect of this novel kept me engaged and on the edge of my seat and made it a worth-while read. Happy reading!

I was so excited to have been given the opportunity to read the second book in the series, but I'm sad to say that I didn't enjoy it as I was hoping too. It didn't even feel like a Lora Leigh book, it felt as some one else wrote this story and she just stamped her name on it. Over the many years I have been reading, I have read a lot of this authors work, and this just was not up to par.
The plot to this one was just off, I like the idea but it didn't do anything to make it stand out. The love story its self was okay, I found myself skimming at times.
Overall, I know Lora Leigh can do better then this, maybe its just me but I have to be in the minority here and just at nope not for me, and hope that with her New Breed book due to come out this year that it will be 50% better then this one!

Dagger's Edge by Lora Leigh is book Two in the Brute Force series. This is the story of Journey “Syn” Delaney and Ivan Resnova. I have read the previous book but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
Ivan worked his way out of his criminal past but then he meet up with Syn again. Syn is on the run to save her life after being betrayed. Along the way she runs into Ivan her friend Amara's father Ivan. Syn has always had a slight crush on Ivan. Now, with danger closing in on her moves to isolate herself from him and others to keep them safe. But Ivan moves forward to help her and their feelings grow. This was a page turner for me and couldn't put it down.

Dagger's Edge is a steamy adventure story, with likable characters, a straightforward but captivating plot, suspense, and off-the-charts hot sex scenes.
While on the run from her family, Journey “Syn” Delaney stumbles across her teenage crush, Ivan Resnova, father of her friend, Amara. The attraction between them is too strong for either of them to ignore, and Syn revels in the night they spend together. But someone is still after her, and since she has been betrayed by everyone in her life, rather than drag Ivan into her mess, she runs again. When Ivan finds her again, she isn't doing as well, and is on the verge of being captured. He takes her under his wing, promising her the illusion that he's in love with her. What neither of them realize is that for both of them, the illusion is becoming real. But love isn't going to keep her safe from her criminal family or from the man to whom she was sold while still a child. Can Ivan neutralize the threat to his woman-and convince her that they belong together?
There are some surprises in the plot, but the real story here is the sexual attraction between Ivan and Syn. Lora Leigh captures the emotions, the physical pull, and the entire encounter with her usual flair.

I am a lover of Lora Leigh and her various series. This just happens to be my first read in this series. Ivan was hot and sexy and could be a very cruel and brutal man. One way to see that side of him was the threatening the one person in the world he loved more than life, Syn. Syn found herself able to breath again. To live life like it should have been, but someone does not want her to step too far in to freedom and light. Syn soon finds that she was not away from the life she left behind. She finds that she must return to continue to life. Brute Force was a novel that I could get deep into. There was an intensity, a touch of suspense, and romance. The characters were good, the plot came along, the pacing was so-so, and sensual steamy connection between Ivan and Syn were all in place.
Dagger's Edge was not a quick read but it was one that would engage you and take you on an adventure that was not so pleasant for Syn or Ivan. Then again it depends on which side of this dangerously intense adventure you were on. I will not say that my heart was stolen, but I did find a series that has peeked my interest a bit more. I will seek out and read book on of the Brute Force series.

# Not recommend to read as standalone.
H was the father of h in Collision Point (Brute Force, #1). Both H and h's families were dark and sad and twist. If you were familiar with the author's previous series, you'd understand how evil that can be. Still, they fell in love under a dangerous circumstance although it took a while for them to believe they had the ability to love.
Stubborn H and h, check. Alpha male H, check. Strong-willed h, check. A lot of hot scenes, check.
If you've read Elite Ops series, you'll enjoy this book.

Smoldering chemistry between a secretive femme fatale and a dangerous crime boss will pull a reader into this erotic tale. Ivan Resnova who first showed up in the Collision Point as the overbearing and protective father is now focused on the girl who is now a woman. Crimsyn "Syn" has been on the run from her family. She is at the wrong place at the wrong time when she is exposed to the true colours of the men in her life - fiance, father and grandfather. When she escapes them and goes on the run, the last thing she ever thought would happen, is to see her childhood crush, Ivan.
When these two cross paths again, their reaction is explosive. Ms. Leigh creates two strong characters with brutal pasts. I felt sorry for both Syn and Ivan. They survived their dysfunctional and abusive families. This survival instinct is fun to watch as they are drawn together and believe they are bad for each other. The sexual attraction between the two is well written and believable. The unresolved past conflict and childhood crush adds an erotic tension between older man and younger woman. Whilst the age difference is not a large gap, their experiences at the hands of terrible fathers makes all the difference in the world.
This spin off series can be read as a standalone. This second book in the series can also be read by itself. For those who have read the original series as well as the previous book, there world building will feel more complete. Ms. Leigh does a nice job of referencing and giving a bit of a backstory on characters from previous books. Still, for those who want a more layered experience and enjoy making all the connections, it is better to read the Elite Ops series and Collision Point first.
The conflict in this story is puzzling for me because it made no sense at first. Since the story is written in alternating 3rd person perspective, we see a little bit more than Syn. Still, it is not from an omnipresence point of view which is key, because it allows the reader to follow along with Syn and Ivan to figure out why Syn is being hunted. The loose threads all come together into a neat packaged bow by the end. The reveal whilst emotionally painful, is a surprisingly win-win scenario. I liked it.
The sex in this book is sensual and sweet. There is a hint of spice which kicks it into the erotic category for me. As a jaded erotic reader, the sex scenes were a bit too tame for me. Each reader's mileage may vary. This romantic suspense is recommended to readers who like childhood crush blooming into full on love themes.

The one word that went through my mind as I read this book was...huh? I was lost reading the first book and that trend continues in the second installment of the series. This book revolves around Ivan, Amara's (heroine from book one) father and her friend twenty-six year old Journey/Crimsyn. Ok - the book should have pointed out earlier that Ivan fathered Amara at 13. I pictured a 50-60 year old hero and thought it was ridiculous when they pointed out he had no gray hair and found it creepy he'd been attracted to her since she was 16.
As with book one - it jumps right into the action as if we should know who all these people are and how they all connect. I guess I needed a better map. I don't even understand whose side anyone is on and what organization they all are part of and who runs it. I found the entire storyline hard to comprehend. Why do people want to kill Journey - heck if I know. Even funnier, Ivan is apparently Superman...able to take bullets in the shoulder and require minimal medical attention despite great description of how he was bleeding out. Also, how did Journey stay on the run for four years in plain sight from these highly trained operatives when she didn’t even try to change her looks? How did Ivan not figure it out immediately? Why was she surprised when he did? So absurd!!
It appears the next book will be about Beau - but is he actually a good guy? That sure wasn't how he was portrayed in this book, but it felt like the author couldn't decide herself and tried to turn it around and imply he really is at the end.
Reading this, I feel like there is a great story hidden in there, but the author needs to take the time to lay it out in a more understandable way and take time away from sex scenes to explain the characters a little more.

The second book in the Brute Force series, it really illustrated Lora Leigh's ability to draw out scenes that are not only suspenseful but also action-packed and romantic. It captivates readers and draws them into the story in a way that makes it almost impossible to put down once you start reading. I personally wasn't able to get as invested in the characters as I would have liked, as the relationship between the MC's felt superficial at best considering as it was dominated by their sexual desire for each other and didn't seem to display any kind of emotional connection they may have had to one another. Nonetheless, I did enjoy the pacing, writing style, and overall plot. If you are interested in picking up a romantic suspense read, then I would definitely check this book out.

I haven't been this disappointed in a LONG TIME.
I'm not sure what happened with this book. It definitely wasn't up to par with what I expected from this author. While the story idea was fantastic, the execution fell flat. Even though I know this is a work of fiction, I struggle with incorrect information being presented. I really hope that and editor does a little fact checking and combs through this with a fine toothed comb.
There were a few things that were off putting to me about this story.
*The beginning was very confusing.
*The information was too repetitive. (not to mention the over use of the word FAR and PLEASURE)
*I worked for the Federal Bureau of Prisons for 12 years. At no time would the prison events in this book EVER happen.
*It doesn't make a good story line when you have the Hero AND Heroine shot, one of which is a significant wound, then never mention the incident again. Then, having different characters slapping said site of the wound only to be outdone by the heroine running her nails over it.

I'm obviously biased and will definitely tell you that if you have not read any of her work, her Tempting SEALs, Nauti and Elite Ops series should be your first stop, along with this series.

Ivan and Syn are two strong and persuasive characters that really attract readers to them with their charismatic appeal and the electrical chemistry that flares between them. The relationship is full of ups and downs, emotional issues and secrets that not only threaten the relationship but also threatens their very lives, there also is some miscommunication or maybe misdirection is the better word which adds to the intense situation that revolves around this romance.
Readers can’t help but become caught up in all the intense thrills, intrigue and passion of this fast paced and smooth flowing plot as danger stalks Ivan and Syn with some surprising twist that readers won’t see coming. This story also tugs at heartstrings as family can be quite deadly in this story which adds to the powerful emotional turmoil that is felt by the characters during all of the forceful and conniving events that take place in order to keep Syn safe, so this romance takes readers on quite a thrilling and potent ride from the very beginning.

Dagger's Edge is Ivan and Journey's story. We got introduced to them as side characters in book one. Ivan is Amara's father who was the heroine in book one. Journey, known as Crymson in book one befriended Amara for reasons I was not sure of at that time. Journey is the daughter of Ivan's enemy who has been running from her family for years.
While you don't really learn anything important about Ivan and Journey's relationship in book one, there are many side characters in this book that make it important to read this series in order to keep everything straight. Even then I admit I felt out of the loop on some of the characters. I have learned that this series is a spin off of another and is probably the reason to some confusion.
Despite feeling a bit out of the loop, I am thoroughly enjoying the Brute Force series. I will be looking up the Elite-Ops series as well, since I am pretty fascinated with some of these side characters and I want learn more about them.

A tense and sexy read with a lot of twists and turns. At times the twist felt a little overly complicated and the repetition of how evil the villains were felt a little forced. Still, the romance between Ivan and Journey was well crafted and as characters they worked well together. Strong chemistry.
The setup for the next book was mysterious enough to draw me in.
Overall a great read that had me finish in just one sitting. Solid 3.5

Baffled, I have so many questions :
She is the cousin of a queen...but which?
How could a crime lord family be related to royalty?
For f*** sake, did she have to be a virgin?
Is her former fiancé MI6? What do British secret services have to do with the story? (Does that mean the h is the favourite cousin of the queen of England?)
Sooo he has a daughter that’s almost the same age....that he had in his teens?and that’s not disturbing anyone?
Honestly, please comment if you have the answer to any of these questions,I am genuinely curious

This was much more thrill and suspense oriented than I anticipated. From the very beginning it was one wild race for safety after another as Journey tries to run from her past and the dangers that still threaten her present. When Ivan steps in, she knows that he will kill her once he learns who she really is but perhaps making a deal with the devil could save her in the end, even if she doesn’t believe in fairy tales.
I enjoyed this story despite not remembering the details of the previous one. Initially, it was a bit complicated to follow and I was tempted to set it aside. If you enjoy a thrilling ride of suspense and danger, death hovering at the doorway at any given time and uncertainty over who to trust even as two people fall in love amidst the chaos, this is definitely a read you will want to check out.

I almost DNFed and gave this one star!
Keep reading, and trust in Lora Leigh to deliver a great story. The first 14-20% is confusing and appears to be instalove, which I loathe. I almost had given up, but I am glad I stuck it out. By 80% it picks up and flies you so close to the end that you are sad it’s almost over.
I adore our heroine, Journey, with her red hair and firey personality to go with it. She’s a lonely runner who has never known real love, not from her parents or anyone. She trusts no one except the one dangerous man she’s kept an eye on since she was an innocent 16-year-old girl.
Our hero can be a bit of a villain, but is definitely the hero to those he loves the most, like his daughter, Amara. Ivan, Ivan, Ivan. I don’t trust him either through much of the book, which makes him easy for Journey to run from.
I think I will want to read this book again when I get the chance to read the first book of the series. It seems there is a lot of history behind this couple that is only hinted at in this book, but there are more details in the first book that we don’t know about if reading this one as a stand-alone title. I’ll definitely recommend this book, but advise reading this series in order for more enjoyment.

I received an ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review
Oh WOW, I really loved this book. Now I see that I have to go back to read Elite Ops series in order to understand everything that happened. Although the story had me lost for a moment I had to go and do my research to see where all the characters had come in and noticed that I missed a series with these people.
I loved the alpha male in Ivan. This was a man who got what he wanted and had no fear of it being taken from him once he gets it. I also enjoyed Journey/Crimsyn (Syn) who was a little feisty, however I thought her character could have possibly been a bit stronger with Ivan’s. She grew up in a family surrounded by crime with her father and grandfather being monsters. Seems as if they were selling her into a marriage in which she was not willing to go into. She was not in love with the man her family wanted her to marry so she decided that she would leave and run from her family into hiding.
There was a time period while reading that Craig’s name was written as Greg. I hope the editing team to make the necessary corrections. I’ve read enough of LL books to really enjoy them and so far she has not let me down with this one.
