This was super decent but, not gonna lie, I felt a little lost.
The amazon blurb said, and I quote, "Although this is book #4 in the Werelock Evolution series timeline, it was written as a STANDALONE, so it is not necessary to have read the trilogy that precedes No Light."
Pfffffft.
Lies.
Lies, I tell you.
Sure, sure, I was able to amble along a little bit.
But, have you ever been to a party which - while fun - you are surrounded by people who seem to have endless inside jokes you just KNOW are going over your head?
Well, enter me at this partay.
Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it well enough.
It WAS about fated mate werewolves FFS sake, AKA Val's kryptonite (see what I did there? *wink*), but I definitely think I would have enjoyed it more had I listened to my gut and usual SOP (that's Standard Operating Procedure for those who are down with the 411 (that's info for those who aren't ancient enough to remember that little fun landline phone fact)) and read 1-3 first.
Dude, check OUT that^^^ level of Kristen Ashley parentheses.
Anybabble, I didn't adore the H. Something about him, I don't know.
Might still go back and try book one.

This series just keeps getting better after every book. No Light is the fourth book so please dont read it before the others or else you will missing out on all the previous fun. You will also be completely turned around and upside down trying to figure out who, what and where.
If you have read the previous books then your safe and you should buckle in because this will be a wild ride. Unexpected twists and surprising developments will keep your eyes glued to the words flying off the pages.
I'm personally conflicted due to the many changes that occurred in the storyline and I'm crossing my fingers that everything and everyone will come together in the future. (That's all you'll get out of me as far as hints to the storyline.)
Add it to your TBR list. Buy it, review it and enjoy!

As a true stalker-fan of Hettie, I shoved old people out of the way to get a copy of this book.
You might ask, was it worth it?
Um. FUCK YES.
Hettie has a way with words, she can build an entire empire made of gold with a pile of verbal poo, and not many can pull that off. In Hettie fashion, the book is witty, humorous, a bit dark and oh so sexy.
There is so much I could say about this book, the characters, plot and everything in between; however, my words can’t hold a candle to the actual truth. Talking about all of the above doesn’t do this book justice. If you haven’t already been sucked into this world from the Werelock Evolution trilogy, I pitty you, then No Light will do you in. This book has all the key players, the ones you would bury dead bodies to see naked. Starting with my book husband Alex, moving on to Remy – whom, I am still patiently waiting on his call – and Kai. Wait, I didn’t put Alcaeus in the mix. I mean, I wouldn’t necessarily bury a body for him, but he is still swoon worthy. (I say that because the first 2 books I was on the fence with him.) Alcaeus is moody and a brute, I think it is because he hasn’t found his true mate in over 400 years. Apparently, he stopped being a douchecanoe to land his mate this go round.
YOU GO BOY!
Avery wasn’t my fav MC out of all the books Hettie has written, she is just a bit too badass for me. Don’t get me wrong, I would totally be her for a day and be good with it. She is just a single mom, doing what all single moms do…. KICKING ASS.
Like a fucking boss.
And so the story goes… badassery plus badassery equals a damn good read.
Of course there was other shit that happened, and other people in the mix, but giving it away takes from the suspense.
Best advice?
READ THE FUCKING BOOK.

The next instalment of the Werelock Evolution series, No Light was very different to the other books, new and old faces, brand new and exciting story, a new fear and a desperate struggle for survival. Hettie totally smashed it, I was hooked from the prologue didnt put it down until I hit thenend around 3:15am, I couldnt stop even for sleep.
Avery was an awesome female protagonist, feisty, funny and full of fire. I wouldn't mess with her, that badass mama werewolf would take on the whole species to protect her little girl from harm, but who will protect her? What do you do when the "bad guy" is your little girl and enemies are everywhere you turn?
Hello Alcaeus, sexy werelock rogue with a great sensense of humour and a hero complex a few centuries wide. Alcaeus was one of my favourite characters from the first three books and continues to be so. On a mission to hunt and the kill the prophecised Rogue with the ever tortured Kai, and still grieving his Lupe. His character development was off the charts and I loved reading his pov chapters.
Lots of twists, mystery and magic, with scenes that had me laughing, crying, gasping and hot around the collar. Cant wait to see what Hettie writes next!

Him: “My mate was the cutest little badass there ever was.”
You don’t need to read the preceding three books to understand the dynamics between all the characters since all is eventually revealed through Avery’s very perturbed and astounded perspective. Her internal monologues are a riot!
This story has everything: its own rich magical history, surprising twists, scorching romance, wacky humour - all revealed with smart dialogue and witty commentary. It has plot depth, amazing originality, and great execution. It fed my literary cravings like a Michelin 3 Star ten-course tasting menu and I loved every second of it!

NO LIGHT is book four in the Werelock Evolution series and is SOOO much more than just a paranormal romance! It's dark and light at the same time (I know you're saying, WTH??) but it's completely true! Although this one's a standalone, I'd recommend starting with book one because not only are the first three AWESOME, they'll give a more complete picture of the overall plot.
This story goes off on a tangent with Alcaeus and Avery as the main characters but it's still an integral part of the original storyline which is basically the protection of ALL mankind (werewolf and human). Alcaeus is a centuries old werelock, a hunter looking for the prophesied "Rogue" who will supposedly bring about the end of man. Avery is the mother of the Rogue, a werewolf who hunts the hunters. One glance and these two know they're fated mates. Complicated much?!?
This book was EXHILARATING, NAIL BITING, and EXCITING! It made me laugh with witty banter and snarky commentary. It made me cry because I was 100% invested in the characters. And it made me sigh with the hot as hell, sexy scenes! There's some surprisingly crazy twists, too. Honestly, half the time I was saying, "YES, Avery go for it!" and the other half chanting, "NO, Avery, don't do it!" LOL!
Alcaeus was absolutely swoon worthy, so charming, protective and sweet with both Avery and her daughter, Sloane. I loved watching his character grow within the story! Avery is described as a BAD ASS and she definitely was. She was also funny, sassy, smart and one tough Mama when it came to Sloane...I wanna be her when I grow up! Plus, I got to see other sides of some important secondary characters so I can't wait to read their stories in the next installments.
This is one of my most favorite paranormal series, I've loved every book so far! Kudos to Ms. Ivers for creating such a wonderfully rich world with fascinating characters and captivating storylines! Told from dual POVs with a happy for now ending (the saga continues with new characters...yipee!!)

I am going to start off by saying that this is the hardest review I have ever written. I have deleted sentences only to rewrite them and then move them. It has taken me over an hour from start to finish.
I had the pleasure of reading "No Light" by Hettie Ivers this weekend (even my husband read it - he is still laughing at the "You girls look stunning" line in the Epilogue. lol.). While I have read the previous books in the Werelock Evolution series, my husband has not and we were both able to follow this story so for those new to the series and starting with this book, it can be read as a stand-alone novel.
This is Alcaeus and Avery's story. Alcaeus is a 400+ year old werelock who has been looking for the prophesized Rogue for decades. The Rogue is said to be an incredibly powerful creature who won't need a pack and will have the power to destroy the human race. Avery is the mother of the Rogue. No problem there. ;)
Al and Avery... well, not only are they enemies by the fact that one is hunting the others' child... They are also mates! I was already half in love with Alcaeus after the Trilogy and knew that no ordinary werelock would do as the ying to his yang. Avery is not even a werelock (what?!); she's just a regular ol' werewolf who managed to survive a rogue attack as a human (unheard of so we know she is special). Avery is also a badass and the ultimate mom. I can see her walking around with a flash-bang in a Frozen backpack featuring Olaf. Got heat? The question on everyone's mind (or maybe just mine): Does Avery like warm hugs? Well, her kid is a pyro so she might. ;) Sloane is pretty cool and not just because she happens to like my husbands' favorite movie, Frozen (Queen Elsa is awesome) - sorry hubby.
All joking aside, I don't want to leave too many spoilers but this book tests loyalties and friendships (as the blurb on the back-cover suggests). To anyone who has read the Trilogy, this book takes place almost 10 years after the events in Revenge of the Wronged and while the characters who we know and love are fundamentally the same, you can see how they have evolved and matured over the years. This book manages to be funny and be slightly dark at the same time. The funny part comes from Raul, Alcaeus, and Avery who each have a wicked sense of humor and use it to cut through the tense moments. My husband also loved Kai's dry humor. Even the action scenes had some humor in them. Off topic, but the action scenes were pretty good. If you have read Hettie's books before we have always gotten some action but some of the scenes reminded me of the thrillers I like to read and my husband of the Die Hard movie he was listening to while reading (from my husband: well, she's not John McClane but...). There is an ambush and a fight scene complete with grenades and guns with silencers.
Like I mentioned, it is a little dark. We ARE dealing with the Rogue in this book. There is the fact that several characters contemplate killing a 9 year old. There are characters battling anger, grief, and closure issues that they have been side-stepping throughout the years. All of them come out here. I felt compassion for the struggle that some of the characters faced between following their hearts and their minds (and it really is a battle to choose between the two when they tell you to take opposite action). As one character said, the world is not solely black and white. There are shades of grey.
I liked the book and know that I will continue to come back to it. I've always loved Alcaeus and wanted the best for him. In the first few chapters following the initial introduction, I had trouble connecting with Avery but I was sad to say "see you later" to her at the end of the book even though I am fairly certain we will see her in the future. Avery brought my maternal instincts to the forefront... the drive as a parent to do whatever it takes to keep our children safe; to do whatever we can to let them know that they are loved and that we care. Avery does not know the meaning of the word "quit" and I admired her so much for it.
To anyone who has read the Trilogy, this book is different. It might feel like it drags a little at the start but, as my husband pointed out, the author did need to provide some background knowledge as it is a stand-alone novel. It's hard to forget that you read the first 3.5 books. While the Trilogy did have plot and a storyline, there are were a ton of steamy scenes. While No Light has some,
they don't really fit with the storyline as much and I found that what Hettie gave us in the book was very appropriately placed and a good break.
Hettie, my dear, another great book. You had me at the edge of my seat at times while making me laugh, reflect, and cry at others.
P.S. - This will go down in my history book as one of the only times I will probably ever get my husband to read one of my "girl" books. He is not willing to read the Trilogy but for someone who does not read books in this genre, he said it was good. We also watched Frozen after reading the book.

Received an ARC for an honest review. Some minor spoilers ahead.
What can I say about Hettie's stand alone novel that tells the story of how Alcaeus finds his mate and loses his brains?
I might say that I'm more than a little convinced Alcaeus is a little slow in this one. I could say that she utterly ripped my heart out, by the way she treats Kai in it. That I alternated between cursing Hettie and Avery at the same time. That I'm seriously reconsidering my FB domestic partnership with her because of it. But I won't say any of that, I'll get into why I gave the rating I did.
So why the five stars? It's brilliant. The whole damn book is one giant set up for the rest of the series to come, Raul and Bethany, Kai and Kai, Remy, Kai, Lessa and Wyatt, and oh did I mention Kai? Seriously, if I wasn't so damn invested in this universe I might have said, fuck it, and paddled away on my canoe, flipping Hettie the bird, while whistling a little tune, but I just can't. I'm a sucker for punishment, and although I don't think Kai needed to be tortured that much, emotionally or physically, yup she does both, her writing is far too brilliant for me to low ball her just because I'm pissed.
Plus any author who can get that kind of rise out of the reader should really be applauded, even if she get rewarded with me bitching and moaning about it the entire time.
Oh, I should probably talk a bit more about the book itself. Alcaeus finally meets his match. A single mom, whose a bad-ass by the way. But what single, hardworking mom isn't, right? She's doing everything in her power to protect her nine year old daughter, the rouge of all rouges, prophesied to destroy the world as we know it, against rogue hunters. Mainly Alcaeus' family. Her daughter is definitely a "Special Needs" case. Prone to lighting her room and people, Kai, on fire. But I digress.
The complexity of emotions and relationships that Hettie writes, as she approaches the character of a single mom trying to date and protect her daughter, is interesting because you don't find this story line very often. I'm not just talking the paranormal genre either. Very few authors touch the single mom character with a nine foot pole, mainly, and this is my own theory, the character is just too complicated for most authors to take on.
While Avery isn't my favorite person, for reasons most of you will figure out, Kai, she struggles with the self doubt that comes from trying to raise a child, a special needs child, and feelings of inadequacy regarding, "doing enough," for said child. I can't deny that the character that is Avery is well formed and multi-dimensional.
Alcaeus is indeed frustrating in, No Light. Mainly because he loses his head after he meets Avery. Seriously, once his dick takes over, his actual brain melts to mush, so in many ways Hettie technically gets this character right as well.
Be prepared for your jaw to drop to the floor at the end. I wasn't and made a dent in mine. I was fist pumping, cheering, and then cursing Hettie for putting me through all these emotions in the span of her book. How's she gonna do me like that?
She more than makes up for this by including an excerpt from her next book at the end, but seriously, as any addicted, I mean avid reader knows, that's never enough. My recommendation: One click this, and when you're finished, if you haven't read the trilogy, one click that bitch of a roller coaster as well. A little something to tide you over while your waiting for the next book to come out.

What I absolutely love about Hettie's books is that they make you brainstorming yourself! Who is good? Who is bad? On which side should I be on? I swear I LOVE books which do that to me and this was definitely one of those!!
It's not simple paranormal romance oh no it's everything you wish plus big pile of puzzles that you slowly need to put in order just to be shocked in the end by amazing twist!
This story has taken me by surprise it was totally different from previous books of the series yet so familiar!!
It wasn't at all what I expected!
I have been waiting for this book for a while and imagined so many different ways it may go but not that one!
It started slowly, simmering for a while - Al is grieving over the loss of Lupa going around the world with our as well grieving, bitter Kai...
Kai who didn't change much but Al or rather Chaos is looking for distractions... many and often distractions...
Avery is a fighter, she will do everything what's possible and beyond to fight for her daughter's life... She went through so much even before what happened to her at the camping site... She was always strong but the biggest battle is still in front of her.
Finally I got an answer to what our handsome werelocks done to Milena's mind in the previous book...
There is more of her sexy brother Raul or rather a lot of him and I absolutely can't wait to read his story Same with Jurassa & Remy's story - there are glimpses and I really need more more and more!!
I loved Alcaeus so much when he first met Lupa in the first book he was so sweet, lovely and kind then he was different... sexy, confident and of course funny but something was missing...
Here he found himself again and he swept me off my feet!! He is such a lovely fool!!! I was expecting so many things from him so much darkness but he was such a charming and a goofy surprise I'm glad he is back being himself!

As I said this book was full of surprises it's like so many things were twisted and ended being upside down!!! I never expected many of them I think me being focus on other facts like who really Sloane was before, where she came from have taken me away from seeing clues which were there but I simply haven't seen them!
Gabe was definitely one of them - the connection of Sloane and Raul! What they accomplished together it was there for me to find out before it happened but it came as a shock and almost at the end of the story! The changes to the packs - lots and lots of twists and changes...
All together book was amazing! Thank you Hettie for keeping me on my toes all the way through!
I love how you brought together two hardened by life characters into two people crazy in love, because even in darkness you can find happiness... and amazing sweet goofy love!

Sexy werewolves/warlocks on steroids – just couldn’t put it down!
This is book 4 in the Werelock Evolution series and since it was described as a standalone I read it first out of order. I literally devoured it and when I was finished I immediately went on to Slip of Fate (which is book 1 in Milena and Alex’s trilogy) which made me realize how much I missed by not having read them in order, so I wouldn’t recommend it at all.
Actually it’s never a good idea to start with the negative things about a book, especially one that in all other aspects is so mind-blowingly fantastic, but here it is: it takes one third of the book until the heroine and hero finally meet, although that first meeting is everything one could hope for as the heroine proceeds to shoot the hero. Powerful werelock and playboy that he is, rather than being fazed by this kind of reaction, he is instantly charmed instead…
Avery had a hard time growing up being shuffled from one foster home to the next, but she always was resilient like a weed. When her life finally seems on track with an academic career, normalcy, and friends, she, her fiancé and two of her friends are attacked and killed by a rogue werewolf on a camping trip. But Avery refuses to die and as a result of the events of that fateful night she gives birth to a girl with extraordinary powers… but since that little girl is believed to be the rogue of all rogues that, according to some ancient prophecy, is going to bring about the end of humankind, they are both being hunted relentlessly. As a matter of fact, Alcaeus has also been hunting her for years, but when he finally meets her, killing is the farthest thing on his mind….
So, what I really loved about this book (especially compared to Milena and Alex’s story) is that the heroine is no blushing virgin, but an adult, tough woman who has loved before and is a kick-ass fighter into the bargain. Also, she puts the well-being of her daughter above else, even if it means leaving her mate. The hero is a strong alpha type, but when it comes to her daughter he is mush, and he goes against his family and also his long-held beliefs in order to support Avery and protect her and her daughter. Very emotional towards the end and oh so beautiful. The sex is hot and raw, but in parts also sweet. Great combination.
An original and captivating paranormal werewolf tale, full of magic and passion.

Oh my was this a phenomenal read. I must say that I am bias to the whole Werelock Evolution series because I've read the first 3 books and have adored every character since, so I knew I'd love this off the back. Where do I even begin!!?!
Al is still the hot, arrogant and slightly obnoxious werelock I remember. He's also overly sexual as usual. I loved that he finally found his mate because in the first three books my heart was hurting for him, especially after Lupe. Al is a hot man and I'd love to roll in the hay with him.
Avery (or Cynthia or Blythe) was an intriguing woman. Human turned werewolf who bore the rouge. She was such a powerhouse and had so much will power despite all the craziness that was going on in her life. I loved her sassiness and her kickass skills.
The romance was awesome. I think I loved that their wolves immediately knew one another and they didn't really beat around the bush. Al was ready to give his all for Avery and though she tried to slow things down, she just couldn't. I loved their romance and the sex was just amazing lol. Not to forgot, Al was absolutely perfect with Avery's daughter Sloane -- I die for him!
Kai is one I will forever love because he's so realistic and level-headed. I wanted to cry at the end for him. That wasn't cool. Sloane was an absolute demonic cutie pie. I couldn't help but laugh and how badass and dangerous she was for only a 9 year old.
Raul was unpleasant surprise at first, but as the story progressed I ended up liking him more than I ever did. I still think he's an ass to Milena though and he's very petty. Gabe got EXACTLY what he deserved. I always hated him.
Alex and Milena are my loves! They have gotten so much stronger and Milena definitely shows her Alpha side. Alex is still an ass lol. Remy and Alessandra were awesome. I felt so bad for Alessandra though -- no girl deserves that kind of rejection even when it's warranted.
That ending was beautiful, but tore me to pieces. I really hope the Reinoso and Salvatella can get past their drama and become one big happy family. I mean they already have their packs intertwined! I need them to be in harmony.
Those previews for book 5 and blew my mind. Kai with another girl?! Raul and Bethy?! No wayyyy the excitement has me drooling for more!!!!!

Ivers is back with another gem after her departure into sci-fi and the Krinar World. I liked Beyond the X Club, but Ivers shines in her own world just that bit brighter. No Light rejoins the Reinoso Salvatella blood feud after a decade and we find our familiar characters in some unfamiliar situations. I don't want to get into the plot, as some of the other reviewers have already done, so I'll just stick to what I liked.
First, Avery and Alcaeus are awesome! The way they get together had me at the lock of a door, truly love at first shot! Ivers tackles a really gritty, powerful character in Avery who provides a refreshing message to the question 'what do we do when life gives us lemons'. Obviously, we throw a flash grenade at them. Her determination is fierce, and the emotions I felt reading her story were powerful because of it.
Second, as it turns out, I think Raul may be my new favorite, smokin' hot, surfer dude, kick ass werelock with a super soft side that we weren't privy to in the trilogy. His demeanor towards little Sloane will melt your heart and gives depth to a character that had the potential for so much more from the first three books. I am really looking forward to Just Like Animals, and would like to publicly lobby Ms. Ivers to write JLA before Seer as it is more interesting to me(and likely everyone, at that point) to see how Raul and Bethy get together. I always knew the party in Argentina wasn't the end, just the beginning(party, kidnapping, whatever). I digress.
Third, Ivers humor is again a vital part of her storytelling, weaving absurdity, one-liners, irony, and slapstick into her books effortlessly, as the humor than helps to juxtapose the very serious themes that she also tackles with this tale. The weight of it all that I felt reading, I believe is owed to the well rounded emotion and depth she gives to the tale and she accomplishes this with a deft hand. I never laugh out loud reading except when I read Ivers.

When you pick up a book by Hettie Ivers you are almost guaranteed to get a book that is going to blow your mind on multiple levels. No Light was no deviation from the incredible stories I’ve come to expect from this talented author.
No Light included the brilliant characters Alcaeus, Kai, and Raul from her other Werelock Evolution books. She also introduced new characters Wyatt, Avery and Sloane. I don’t even know where to begin when it comes to these characters and their interactions. Throughout the book I found myself, laughing, saddened, sometimes sobbing, while other times I was irritated and wondering what Hettie Ivers was thinking with all the twists and turns she threw in this book. Of course no book by Hettie Ivers would be complete without some rather steamy scenes, and let me tell you, her steamy scenes could fog up this reader’s glasses, even when she isn’t wearing them!!
The chemistry between Alcaeus and Avery was…I have no words. I simply couldn’t get enough of this couples interactions. I can’t deny the fact I absolutely loved Avery’s relationship, if you want to call it that, with Kai as well. When it came to Avery and Sloane if only I could convey everything those scenes stirred up in both my heart and mind.

Alternative world building at its best....
I loved this book and the original premise.....it is an enthralling follow up to the first three books in the Werelock Evolution series...... the author’s writing style is so easy to read, both intelligent and humorous....
The beginning of this story is absolutely compelling.... it is dark, but also starkly beautiful......honestly I did not think I could feel such sadness and empathy for a character that I have only just met and know nothing about...the description of the struggle between letting go and returning to an unknown and potentially brutal future is wonderfully observed....
This is alternative world building at its best... and the characters that reside within it are both fabulous and believable... in all of this praise I also forgot to mention that apart from providing much of the dark and ironic humour woven throughout the narrative these shifters are also a sexy bunch and boy do they know how to get down and dirty when the situation calls for it....
This book can be read as a standalone..although I would strongly urge any Werelock Evolution virgins to go back to the start to truly appreciate the subtleties and backstories of the characters encountered in this installment.....
A fascinating and addictive read that left me both sated and yet hungry for more as this epic story of betrayal, hatred, loyalty and love moves slowly but inexorably towards it’s final conclusion...a 5 star read if ever there was one....I received an advanced copy of this book from the author.

The beginning of this story is absolutely compelling.... it is dark, but also starkly beautiful......honestly I did not think I could feel such sadness and empathy for a character that I have only just met and know nothing about...the description of the struggle between letting go and returning to an unknown and potentially brutal future is wonderfully observed....
This is alternative world building at its best... and the characters that reside within it are both fabulous and believable... in all of this praise I also forgot to mention that apart from providing much of the dark and ironic humour woven throughout the narrative these shifters are also a sexy bunch and boy do they know how to get down and dirty when the situation calls for it....
This book can be read as a standalone..although I would strongly urge any Werelock Evolution virgins to go back to the start to truly appreciate the subtleties and backstories of the characters encountered in this installment.....
A fascinating and addictive read that left me both sated and yet hungry for more as this epic story of betrayal, hatred, loyalty and love moves slowly but inexorably towards it’s final conclusion...a 5 star read if ever there was one....I received an advanced copy of this book from the author.

Hands off, bitches! Alcaeus is my new book boyfriend.
I had no idea what I was getting into with No Light. It was even better than the previous books in the series. I need to read slower because
doesn't come out until next month and my binge of this series is almost over 😥. ..I'm worried I'll be caught in some kinda smutty novella limbo.
Things continued to unfold in this installment. The Reinoso pack is back and Alcaeus is front and center. Everyone is after the rogue as the ten years of no light is close to an end. When Alcaeus scents his mate, all orders and missions fall by the wayside. Avery is his world.
Avery is on a mission to kill Alcaeus. She's protecting her daughter (a.k.a. Maribel 2.0) from rogue hunters. Life has dealt her some hard blows and she just keeps going. Although she can't deny him, she is slow to trust. An incredible plot filled with hilarity ensues.
Ivers gives us more info on Kai and Raul while introducing Wyatt. I found myself feeling giddy with anticipation. It's great to know there are more things to come.

No Light: A Werelock Evolution Series Standalone Novel is an excellent and entertaining read. I have been patiently waiting for a new entry into this series and No Light did not disappoint. This is a standalone book, so if you are new to this author or series it's a great time to jump in. This is an emotional, action packed, humorous shifter paranormal romance. Offering lots of sexiness and a surprising amount of heart, this book will quickly ensnare you and keep you turning pages as quickly as you can. Characters are complex and the chemistry just lights up this book. Their witty banter is so enjoyable it will bring a smile to your face. I highly recommend this book. It's protective alpha hero, kick butt heroine, heartbreaking but awe inspiring child, old friends we meet again and a plot that is well thought out create an amazing and pleasurable read. I'm posting a voluntary, honest review after reading an advance copy of this book.

I absolutely loved this book. I have been wanting to see Al get the girl from the very first book and boy did he. Avery is the strong woman that doesn't need to be saved but sure could use a little help considering everyone wants to kill her and her daughter because of a prophecy. This story starts out with a bang and it never slows down, it is 1:15 in the morning on a work night but I couldn't stop until I had devoured this book,will be waiting not so patiently for Kai's book.

The best dramatic movies have elements of comedy peppered throughout them and though this is mainly a dramatic book I was extremely pleased by the ongoing humor, which amounted to much more than you typicallly see in a serious werewolf shifter book, and set it apart in my eyes in such a positive way.
This is book 4 in the Werelock Evolution series but I had only read Slip of Fate prior to this one. Though I imagine the reading experience is heightened if you have read them all it didn't detract from my enjoyment of this book at all, which I actually enjoyed more than Slip of Fate.
Al-chaos (lol) and Avery have such an interesting, humorous dynamic. The typical uber-possessiveness of a werewolf for his mate (which I always love) is somehow even better than usual. I also loved that his protectiveness immediately included Avery's daughter, before he had even met her.
Just like in Slip of Fate, I find myself caring about all of the secondary characters and I feel like the author has skillfully built my interest in them while not detracting a bit from the main couple of this book. I can't wait to read about when Kai is driven to break his century-long celibacy and I just know Raul was stalking Milena's human best friend on Facebook. I even want to see how Lessa gets Wyatt to forgive her. This series has certainly hooked me in, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

Like all if the books in the series this book was fantastic. I love how Hettie has a way of making the ladies in her books strong but still not afraid to show the feminine side. The guys...wow..they are a mix of scary, funny, serious and definitely sexy!!!

Good one
This was an exciting read that starts off with an violent beginning. It progresses into a supernatural storyline that will captivate you. I was a little surprised at the total capitulation of the alpha male. When he saw his mate, he was all in. There are complications and lots of sexy mating times. It is story that will keep your attention, have you laughing, few tears, and leave you with an HEA. Definitely reading more in this series.

So... I LOVED THIS BOOK. It was everything that I wanted and even more!
I see how No Light could be read as a standalone, but I honestly think that the best way would be after the sequel: Just Like Animals. I know it sounds stupid but is actually an amazing reading experience. I loved getting into this world and I wasn't lost at any point. I loved to see Raul, the protagonist from the next book, and I loved to see Sloane, but what I loved the most was a goofy and loving Chaos.
There wasn't a lot of action but I actually was invested in hoping that Avery would escape all those werewolves. I'm amazed that she managed to do it, and that first time that we see her running for her life had me at the edge of the bed.
My love for this story is so big that I was considering reading The Seer's book but... my dislike for Kai won and nope.
I discovered from that I still don't really like Milena at all, so the first trilogy is not going to be for me but I bet that is fill with misunderstandings, betrayal, action and maybe fun. This book was a big shock because I'm not a fan of stories with single parents. They tend to dwell in their hardships so much and they bring me down, but this piece of gold only lifted my spirits.
"It was the truth. Sloane was my greatest love and life purpose. If I had a soul mate, she was it for me"
I feel that I want to gush more about Chaos and how cute he was.
No light was actually pretty light hearted -yes, I tried to make a joke- and I did smile a lot and laugh once during my reading. I've spent one of my best days today, because this book managed to hold my full attention and I finished it in one day.

No Light was sexy and full of surprises. When it comes to Author Hettie Iver’s writing, sexiness and naughtiness is always expected. I’m usually not into books that get a little too dirty, but when it comes to her writing I am all in. She has a way with her words that will suck any reader in, even a very “clean” reader like me. ;)
Bad boy Alcaeus finally met his match when he met single mom Avery. She had this grace and sexiness that Alcaues was attracted from their first meeting. She was strong and had this delicious smell he couldn’t get enough of. He knew right from the start that they were mates and he took care of her at that moment. Clothes came off and they got as dirty as they could off the bat. I usually get turned off by stories that had instant attraction, but with Alcaues and Avery it was expected. They were wolves and once they find their mates, nothing can stop them from wanting each other.
I enjoyed Alcaues from going to this bad boy sex with every female he wanted with no attachment, to this man who wanted just one woman to rock his world. When Avery came into his life, she was all he wanted. Alcaues was nothing but sexy in this series volume. He showed all his good side, that no bad side of him mattered. These two were almost as sexy as my favorite couple Alex and Melina. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read more of this sexy werelock series.

The best thing that could have happened to Avery was her daughter Sloane, who happened to be born from a very dark and tragic event, costing the lives of people she loved dearly. But Avery was nothing if resilient, resourceful, and courageous to take them both on the run, now that she has exposed herself as the only human to survive a werewolf attack and tell the tale. Avery is a little firecracker of a character; package, sassy, admirable, determined. She loves her uniquely gifted daughter Sloane unconditionally and is willing and dedicated to going to extreme lengths to keep her safe for almost a decade, especially from those hunting them, “rogue” werewolf hunters guided by a centuries-old prophesy foretold by seers.
The South-American Reinoso pack was one such group searching for this “firstborn of a new and errant breed of werewolf ” or rogue werewolf, and moreover, the reining family members were much more than mere werewolves, they were werelocks, with intriguing supernatural powers. I've laughed so hard with this book! Holy cow! I also enjoyed the main characters thoroughly it my attention from page one.
Character breakdown;
Alcaeous; A Casanova, funny but temperamental. I loved his cluelessness to the obvious and loved more how easily be loved accepted those around him. His the type of guy you want to get to know and pray he wasn't using you. The man has a big heart I loved him. He also undid me at the end of the book but guess this author knows how to make me cry!
Avery; first holy shite Batman can this girl fight. From the very beginning of the book I knew Avery was the biggest bad assed chick in this book. From her motherly instincts to her need to protect and fight for it all. I loved her determination to see to her daughter's safety to make sure she was save and Soundwave with all that'll happen. I also felt for her a tragic childhood can make a person do the craziest of things, and she did.
I loved the entire plot of this book and could not believe how it captured my attention. I felt like never letting go and this book was long yet it still felt short lol. Definitely pick it up you won't be disappointed.

We got a tease of the prologue from this novel in the last book however I never pictured it playing out like this. The storyline for each novel is always different than others that involve werewolves, in the fact that you never know what to expect.
Avery survived a werewolf attack but only because she was fighting the whole way back. Getting pregnant with her daughter Sloane was a whole other story. Trying to shield her from everyone after the 'rogue', Avery has her work cut out for her.
The Reinoso pack family is back in action but not everyone can more forward from the past...
I don't think I would ever see the day that the playboy, werelock Alpha Alcaeus would actually follow someone around like a love sick fool! He is too old and alpha for that! Yet Avery makes him follow her around like a lost puppy. Their connection is almost stronger than Milena and Alex.
The climax comes out of nowhere and the mating bond gets tested time and time again. It is one of the best and captivating stories that leave you wanting more.

No Light by Hettie Ivers was Paranormal at its best. Warewolves, warelocks, prophesies, fated mates, family dynamics and the rogue of all rogues are just some of what you will get in this fast pace gripping tale.
This was Alcaeus and Avery's romance yet there were a host of additional characters who all added to this fascinating story. I will admit Raul was my favorite.
Steamy scenes, amazing characters, exciting storyline and lots of twists and turns will have you hooked until the very end and leave you wanting more. I absolutely loved this novel. It was an at times emotional, funny, action packed page turner which I would highly recommend. This was a phenomenal novel and a definite must read for PNR lovers.

There’s a reason why Hettie Ivers is one of my favorite authors and this series just keeps proving why. I’ve been waiting for Alcaeus’ story and the heroine that he is paired with is perfect! Avery is so strong, so independent and with so many odds against her she’s still an amazing mother. These two have instant sparks and the chemistry is explosive! I swoon so hard for Alcaeus in this book and even Raul.. 😉 I couldn’t put it down and the twists! Oh my gosh the twists! I stayed on edge until the very end and the wait for No Light was totally worth it. I can’t wait for the next two books in the series!
