Full disclosure, I worked as a book coach with Katia on this book (which actually gives me an even deeper understanding of its content and quality). As a former expat, all I could think as I was reading Katia's work was: Why wasn't this around when I lived abroad? It's helpful on so many levels, and could have saved me a great deal of time, grief, and most importantly money in my own adventures around the world. Katia is a master researcher, and the information in this book is up-to-date and relevant. What I loved the most were the case studies, real stories about real people all over the world managing the ups and downs of being an expat. Katia also shines for me around how to care for children through the transition of moving countries. Love this book! If you're an expat, it's a must-read.

A must-read for expats - whether you're already done with the move or considering one.

I wish I had this book when I made my first move 10 years ago - the stress (logistical and emotional), confusion and ambiguity (of how to have a comfortable 'landing') would've definitely been better managed.
I see Katia has brought her experiences as an expatriate (in her different roles as as a mom, a career woman, a coach) here. So it isn't theoretical, but practical and empathetic advise that individuals and companies can richly benefit from.

Thank you, Katia. This book is a true gift!

The book is eye opening, insightful, helpful, definitely great for reflexion.
I love how organised the book is, everything is clear and you can even work with checklists included in a book.
If you are ever going to make a great move, this is deffinitely the book you should read before you do.

Useful book for persons going to work overseas for the first time. The book concentrates mostly on the issues families face, although the author does provide a chapter for singles. I wish the author provided more links and tips, rather than addressing issues at such a high level. I found the Appendix with the checklist to be helpful.
