When SAS vet. Lacklan Walker buries his father at the family graveyard in New England, the last person he expects to see at the funeral is his childhood friend and sweetheart, Marni - the woman who’d killed his father. To make things more complicated, his father’s dying wish was that Lacklan should look after her and protect her. Because Marni is on a mission, a mission to bring down the shadowy organization called Omega, the government within a government, a mission that might just save Mankind. But when Lacklan tracks her down to Tucson, Arizona, his biggest enemy turns out to be his own passion, his own need for redemption. A need that leads him astray and drags him ever deeper, as avenger and executioner, into the cross-border trade in crack cocaine and young Mexican prostitutes. But will his blind hunger for justice drive him to forget his promise to his father? Will it lead him to make the biggest mistake of his life – a mistake that could have disastrous consequences not just for him and Marni, but for the world…?

If you feel like reading a fast paced, action packed, kill all the baddies book then this is for you!
Lacklan is a man on a mission and anyone who gets in his way dies in one unpleasant way or another. In this book he is still searching for Marni but manages to get distracted by another woman who needs saving from herself. In the process he gets involved in bringing down a drug cartel, saves several women from prostitution and even deals with a few really superior baddies. The death count is huge - I gave up counting.
I enjoyed it anyway but still not as much as the author's Cold Case series. Lacklan is smart and single minded and always helps the underdogs. I am hoping he gets to Marni in the next book!
The book was good but the action started before I really got into the story. One minute he is looking for a girl who killed his father ,the next he is killing off drug dealers ,what had that to do with main story
In the second installment in the Omega series, "Double Edged Blade," author Blake Banner sends his protagonist, special ops vet Lacklan Walker, on a completely new assignment. Walker's a good guy and decides to help somebody out. He's just lost his father and inherited his dad's position in the shadowy Omega group. But he doesn't want it. Omega has frightening long-range plans that involve a vision of the world as a better place with fewer people straining the earth's resources. Before he died, Lacklan's father told his estranged son a little more of the Omega plans and insisted that Lacklan protect his old girlfriend Marni, who's being pursued by Omega. So Walker heads to Arizona with the intention of finding Marni and ends up helping a battered woman. This leads down a rabbit hole where Walker discovers the woman he's trying to help is linked to a boyfriend who is not only a total dirtbag but connected to Mexican cartel members. Rather than leave like anybody else would, Walker solves her problems. But Banner doesn't make it easy. He weaves a compelling tale that never lets up on the suspense, action or mystery. Walker is human. He's not perfect. But he is tough and he works smart. He uses the bad guys against each other.
Did I say action wow this book is filled with it. Lacklan just gets himself involved with more things. First it's looking for his childhood sweetheart who is it isn't involved with Omega a rogue government project. Than he gets himself involved in a drug cartel in mexico. People shot everywhere. Exciting thrilling and yes there is even some romance. Can't wait to read the next book I believe it's The storm.
This series is a great example of damaged hero, shoot m up, story line. It's well written, with details about weapons and tactics. There is the requisite evil organization to fight against, but always a secondary set of bad guys that has to be taken out. These aren't high literature, but they are a step above the average brooding tough guy mind candy.
Have read first two Omega series books and really enjoyed them. The hero has many flaws not least a propensity towards gratuitous violence. But good traits keep appearing making him more likeable so looking forward to next book.
The book is a quick read. It is quite gory at times, but if that doesn't bother you the book will be enjoyable. It did open my eyes to global warming if the story line is factual. I will definitely read the next book.
I’m sort of confused now. Who are the good guys and who are the bad guys? I looked up the world population and it is now 7 and one half billion. By 2100 it will be 11 billion. So the problems in this book are real. Very scary too.
Like the first book in the series full of action and some gruesome killings, mix in a little torture and voila. Now I can't wait to read #3 and some resolution to this storied chase.
Different series but interesting in its telling and concept. Bloodthirsty but also deep in the ideas behind the main tale. Hard to believe this part fit the rest but we go on.
Lots of killing and fighting, but it would proved to be a good thing. Lachlan is a strong man of principals of right and wrong. You do want him. Your side. On to book 3
Tremendous writing coupled with research that boggles the mind makes this read worth every minute. Hard to put down so be prepared to comic the time needed to enjoy this thriller.
This is a fantastic thriller. I can not put this book down . Once I started reading it I did not stop until I finished it . I can't wait to start the last book in the series . Highly recommend this series if you love a good thriller.
This series is a thrill ride. It's hard to imagine the next twist in the plot. I am thoroughly enjoying this series and now I'm headed to book 3. Join me on this ride, and you will not be disappointed.
I like this guys writing but the books plots have become pretty predictable. The hero (Lacklan) is gonna kick ass and take names for a while and just when he looks invincible he screws up, gets captured, endures being tortured, gets away and kicks some more ass. Set the stage for the next volume.
The second book in this series. Lots of non stop action as Lacklan Walker continues to seek the truth about the Omega. I am now starting the third book, The Storm. A well deserved 5 stars
Loved it. Love the series. So much action and hard to put down once you start reading it. I am alternating between this series and Dead Cold Mysteries series and having a wonderful time doing it. On to book 3 in Omega.
This book is fast paced and a bit convoluted. It becomes easier to read and understand as you get further into the story. The reading itself is enjoyable until it isn't. I feel this story has a good bit too much killing. Hopefully the next story won't be quite as graphic. Still a good read!
The first novel series that keeps me engaged and listening and learning. Grateful for this dynamic series. Awesome time of learning and growing. Together as one.
