Giles (to Buffy): "What did you sing about?" "I, uh...don't remember. But it seemed perfectly normal." "But disturbing. And not the natural order of things and do you think it'll happen again? 'Cause I'm for the natural order of things."
Since she's been brought back from the dead (for the second time), Buffy the Vampire Slayer hasn't quite been feeling her calling. Sure, she still gives the underworld a run for its money, but her heart just isn't in the job. Luckily, she's been able to keep her lack of enthusiasm a somewhat secret. Until now. When someone accidentally summons a music-making demon named Sweet, Buffy finds herself belting out her most private emotions. And she's not the only one -- before the battle is done, each of the Scoobies will have uncovered -- through song and dance, for better or for worse, each others' most guarded thoughts -- prompting the question, "where do we go from here?" Here, in one volume, find complete, uncut dialogue, song lyrics, sheet music, and a full-color photo insert. For the true fan, a complete, authorized guide to the smash hit musical episode!
Joss Whedon (born Joseph Hill Whedon) is an American screenwriter, executive producer, film and television director, comic book writer, occasional composer, and actor, and the founder of Mutant Enemy Productions and co-creator of Bellwether Pictures.
He is best known as the creator and showrunner of the television series 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003)', 'Angel (1999–2004)', 'Firefly (2002)' and its film follow-up 'Serenity (2005)', and 'Dollhouse (2009–2010)', as well as the web-series' 'Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog (2008)'. Whedon co-wrote and produced the horror film 'The Cabin in the Woods (2012)', and wrote and directed the film adaptation of Marvel's 'The Avengers (2012)', the third highest-grossing film of all time.
Many of Whedon's projects have cult status and his work is notable for portraying strong female characters and a belief in equality.
This book collects the script for the musical episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Once More With Feeling, along with the sheet music for all of the musical numbers, a liberal selection of photographs of the production, and some interesting behind-the-scenes information and anecdotes. It's the ultimate fan geek book to read with the soundtrack playing and the episode on the screen. Showtime!
Necesario si te encantó el capítulo musical. Contiene el guión, comentarios de como hicieron el capítulo, algunas fotos y las partituras de las canciones. En lo personal, me hubiera gustado algunas entrevista con los actores.
How can I not rate it 5 stars? Seriously. That episode is one of my most favorite in the whole entire series and most definitely one to put on a MUST WATCH list to introduce new fans to the series... even if OMWF covers and opens doors to a lot of things that happened before and making you wonder what's gonna happen next. And, boy, do things move after this episode... Hold on to your seats...
I love that this script exists. I was actually singing the songs as I was reading them and I could clearly see the scenes in my head as I kept on reading. It also made me discover something I hadn't caught on in the show with one of the pictures taken from shooting the episode.
I love how the script is written. It gives a good idea about every episodes of every seasons and how, maybe, it was on set as well. And I also love that we got to see (well, read) what was cut from the actual episode. Nothing too big, nothing major, just little things that actually didn't make the plot move along, I guess but I like it anyway.
I cannot, for the life of me, read music so, for me, I could have done without the sheet music at the end but I can see how people would appreciate it. Then again, there's a whole soundtrack that's available... Oh well. I did enjoy the behind the scenes stuff as well. References from little things that were mentioned story wise or just in the script as is, outside of the story. I like details like this, that was neat. And the added pictures were also fun. I would have liked more behind the scenes stuff like pictures between scenes and such or bloopers type things but I guess we can't have everything, can we? There were some experiences from the shoot and songs and all so that is very cool.
Definitely a must if you love Buffy the vampire Slayer and you collect stuff from the show! ♥♥
Yes, you best believe this is a whole book documenting one of the finest hours (and eight minutes, according to Joss) of television.
A fun lil montage of behind the scenes exclusives, photos and of course, the infamous script details -which I FULLY intended to make the most of during the next, (inevitable knowing our government here in the uk) lockdown for entertainment.
(lol as if I don’t already know ALL the words, and my family haven’t suffered enough with my constant reenactment of spikes “Rest In Peace” scene since I was 11)
“I’ve got a theory” this needs to be added to your TBR list ASAP!
Not only a fun way to experience the infamous musical episode of Buffy, also a great tool for musicians/singers who want to have the sheet music to go with the lyrics to songs they already know and love. SO happy I bought this!
Un libro súper completo. Hay detalles de la elaboración de las letras, el escenario, los actores...incluso las partituras de las canciones. Simplemente genial.
This is a good book in a variety of ways. First, you get the script to the show. I always like to look at those since they allow me to take my time to go through the show and focus on what was said rather than try to keep up on the television.
There's a lot of material on the idea of making the show and the work they had to go through with the actors and that part is also done well. Then there's some color photos, always a plus, plus the sheet music used in the show.
It's one of my favorite Buffy episodes and this book compliments the actual show quite well. I consider it definite must buy.
I've had this script book for a few years, but it has remained packd up and in storage for at least 3 years nows. I dug it out with the intent to read it and discard it as this was not one of my favorite episodes. It wasn't horrible and I actually enjoyed it but I've seen it, own the season on dvd and see no need to hang on to this little addition.
I've read most of the the script books for the first three seasons. Anything after that lost my interest, but since I found thiss book in freebie pile, I grabbed it, thinking that it would add to my collection of allthings Buffy/Angel nicely. Sadly, I am just not as crazy about the show as I used to be and I move, alot, so I feel the need to shed some excess baggage in the book area.
I can see where fans of the show and super fans of the musical episode would love this. I am not big on musicals of any kind so while I can respect Whedon for doing what he did, I wasn't in love with the episode. It was nice to see how Whedon scripted the episode, even if I can't point out what was changed from print to screen at this point, and the back story from the behind the scenes crew was interesting. Since we heard from Joss and other crew members, I think it would have been nice to have some of the actors' perspectives presented which is one reason why I didn't star this higher...felt like it missing something.
This isn't for just any Buffy fan, this is for the fans that loved it til the end, or at least through season 6.
So I wanted this because it is the sheet music to the Buffy musical episode which is awesome in so many ways. I had no idea it also included the shooting script (always fun to see how Joss writes!) and quite a bit of "making of" content. I've never been real into this kind of behind-the-scenes thing but I actually really enjoyed it. Since I've gotten into the Whedon comics but refuse to by the individual issues (waiting for the collected versions) it's nice to be able to get a Whedon fix every now and then. May have to break out the soundtrack or my old VHS copy of the episode recorded off of TV sometime soon!
Tie-in script book for Buffy's musical episode. The full script is printed (including cut lines and other changes made during shooting), as well as the sheet music for all songs. Besides that, there are a few sections going into the making of such an unusual foray for the show; those could have been longer, but were nice to read anyway.
Not much to say, really. Does what it says on the tin. The episode itself, of course, rates a full 10 stars out of 5.
I am that dork, I did sit down and read the screenplay to one of my favorite episodes of a TV show I am not too proud to say I love. So what! Such a funny episode, all in song, and very poignant. What if you died and your friends and family wouldn't let you stay there, they pulled you out because they thought you were in hell but you were....well watch the show!
Simply put: Joss Whedon is a genius. He wrote the story, music, and lyrics for this (musical) episode of Buffy and it is brilliant. With this, the episode's script, you can even have TV in convenient book format! It won't make much sense if you're not a fan though; you at least need to know the background story of what Buffy is all about.
This is the script book for Buffy's musical episode "Once More With Feeling." It includes the shooting script, all the words of the songs, the sheet music, some promotional photos and screen shots, and some written stuff about the experience of writing and making the episode. Yay!
This is the full script of the episode 'Once More With Feeling' along with the full sheet music for every song, and a very amusing introduction by Joss Whedon. If you're a Buffy fan, particularly of this episode then I highly recommend this.
I have to admit that when I checked this out at the library I thought it was a comic book, but I was surprised that I liked the script. It was cool to notice the changes they made and the sheet music was awesome. One of my favorite episodes!
I've owned this book since the Christmas that it came out. I was rereading through it and decided to try playing some of the songs. We'll see how that goes
