Pip and Gage have always been friends and nothing more. Everyone assumes they're together, but they've never crossed that line.
Until one night when they obliterate it.
When Pip agrees to be a surrogate mother for some mutual friends, something in Gage snaps. He can't stand the thought of her carrying another man's baby. Sparks fly as the walls come crashing down.
Pip is thrilled that Gage has finally opened up about his feelings for her ... until he disappears without a word. His sudden departure from her life leaves Pip reeling.
Gage moved to Australia to escape his past. But events at home have drawn him back into the life he never wanted. Stuck between his old life and his new one, something has to give.
The story was well written but for me the stories which deal with best friends who become lovers always are difficult because I just don't get how you can be in love for years but don't do a damn thing about it. I have a male best friend who I love like crazy but even if you would leave us on an lonely island all alone I am 100% nothing will happen because in order to be best friends for years you have to be not attracted to each otherwise the shit is not working. And if I am attracted to someone I don't want to be pushed in the friendzone - so I DON'T GET IT friends to lovers sucks.
I have read the story anyway because it is a series and I just can't help it (just skipped the story about Reece but honestly no matter whats her story I just don't want to know too much bitch to get redeemed)
So back on track - Gage is cute and troubled so likable enough Pip on the other side is too pushy for my taste.
And really you don't have sex for 8 years because your ex is a bitch.... SURE
A Good End to a Fun Series with Quirky, Unpredictable Characters
At long last, we find out why Gage left the US for AUS. Seven or eight years is a long time to be withdrawn from relationships, and seven years is a long time to chase away other suitors from Pip, the woman he secretly wanted all along.
More than once I wanted to throat punch him. Actually, I still do. Why? SEVEN YEARS of making sure Pip had NO ONE, even when he was unwilling to be vulnerable or even talk. And assuming they were a couple when he left without a word? I can’t even. That kind of Alphahole behavior is eye rolling. I still have a hard time believing he’d open up that easily after so many years of being a clam, and changing. But...that’s why I like this series. No one is entirely predictable. They behave like real people.
Pip almost came across as a doormat. There were a few times I think she was - when Gage comes back. But they had just enough communication between them (LOL) where she was saved a bit from it. But I still think he’s something of a jerk and she’s something of a doormat, a little bit. But they do, of course, fit, and it was fun seeing how everyone else in their circle were doing, like Garrett and Blair. They’re so much fun.
Maybe (who knows?) in the future, another series by Eden Finley will have cameos of these characters. Maybe with the children all grown up. (Hint hint). Thank you for the ride, Ms. Finley, it’s been a lot of fun! :-D
Big fan of Eden, but I’d never read her first series and I have to say, it’s worth it! I wasn’t sure at first considering all of the angst these characters have and omg Reece, I hated her so much so of course Eden makes me feel bad for her and grow to like her character (how rude), but my favourite by far was Gage and Pip from the amazing of Odie (other dad) to the horrible town Gage grew up in, it was such a great book to wrap up this fun series!
Reasons I Recommend:
1) Amazing group of friends, each with their own intermingling back story
2) The strong friendships between them and the hilariously cheesy dad jokes and
3) We get to see the beginning of the author’s love for the mm romance and it’s perfect!
What a great way to end a series! Only after discovering this series very recently I've been binge reading this series. Absolutely love it! Each one different (from the ones I have read so far and I still have book 3&4 to read) I was always curious about Gage right from the start and this book explains everything, some of it which really surprised me. It's full of drama, angst and shows how something from the past can affect you even after this long (spoilers so not telling) But Eden has written this brilliantly.
Yeah there were times I wanted to punch Gage in the face, slap him up side the head....well you get the picture. But after 8 years as best friends, it comes together at the end with a HEA. A perfect way to end the series.
A great series ender! I love this series so much and this book has my very favorite romance trope- friends to lovers. They've been friends for years and Gage has always been in love with Pip. But seriously, what would you do if the woman you loved decided to have her first kid for someone else?
It's a book full of drama but also a ton of sweetness. Pip is sassy and can stand up to Gage's darkness. He has a past from America none of his Australian friends know about and it could just be enough to break them. But they're strong than they know. Highly recommend this series.
I'm glad this is the last book of the series. It features the most minor of the characters in this group of friends, and it shows because I couldn't care about them. This is a best-friends-to-lovers trope, and I got really tired of all the protesting between the protagonists that they couldn't be together because it would destroy the friendship blah-blah-blah.
There were a few interesting twists, but when I found myself skimming not just the sex scenes but a lot of other sections, I knew I couldn't give this more than 2 stars.
Dual POV. I definitely liked Pip more in this book than in book 1. There are a few sexy times and a little humor but the book could have used more of both in order to offset the truly heartbreaking moments. The end felt a little rushed but it was still a satisfying conclusion.
I liked this one a lot less than the other books I've read by Eden Finley, somehow it felt more stilted and slightly awkward than the others. It's still good but just a bit less so.
The last book in this series and omg I found it quite emotional 😢, an absolute brilliant read and I can definitely recommend reading this whole series in order.......it has taken me 30hours to read all 5!!!!!!!!!!
There was so much wrong with this one. So much shitty, possessive behaviour wasn't challenged and instead romanticised? I really liked Pip and Gage's relationship in previous books, but I hated where Finley took it.
Loved this series! The heartache of being shamed and accused of a deed you didn't commit was so sad to read. But finding you way through finally was great to read. Eden is one of my favorite authors!
If you want a hilarious, funny, read and entertaining and hot steamy parts this is the best book that you’d want to read!!! I love this author and his writing and his books is great read! Give it a try.
