What can the woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:25-34) teach us about our own encounter with Jesus? In Where Virtue Flows, the author explores the biblical, cultural, and theological implications of her story to inspire believers everywhere to press through and lay hold of God's promises.
Each chapter also includes a devotional prayer and questions for personal reflection or small group study.

This is a wonderful book. It wouldn’t have taken me this long to read, but I like to study when I read and this was a great study too. Questions are at the end of each chapter to help with your studying. I really liked that, because I love to study God’s Word. This is a great book showing and proving our churches have lost it’s first love. And it teaches and shows you this through the woman with the issue of blood. Quote from book “we have created a turnstile Christianity, where people are herded in and out of services to make room for the next crowd. No one lingers. No one tarries. No one travails. And no one is changed. We can learn a lot from a woman who refused to be just another face in the crowd. She pressed through.” So next time you go to church or just whenever, if the Holy Spirit leads you to do something for the Lord, do it. Don’t quench or stop God’s spirit. Don’t worry what anyone thinks or says. Do what God would have you to do, but it must correspond with His Word. He doesn’t tell you to do anything that’s against His Word. I want to thank the author, through Christian Book Review Group, for gifting me the book for my honest opinion.
This book centers on a powerful biblical moment and expands it into a deeper spiritual reflection on faith, persistence, and personal encounter with God. What stands out most is the focus on the story of the woman with the issue of blood and how it is used as a lens to explore spiritual hunger and determination. Rather than treating the passage as a familiar story, the book appears to unpack its deeper meaning by examining its cultural, theological, and personal implications. There is a strong emphasis on the idea of “pressing through,” which gives the message a sense of urgency and personal application. The book seems to encourage readers not to remain passive in their faith, but to actively pursue a deeper connection with God’s presence, power, and promises. Another notable aspect is the devotional structure. With reflection questions and prayers included in each chapter, it positions itself not just as a teaching resource but as a practical guide for spiritual growth and personal study. The tone appears both instructive and encouraging, aiming to challenge readers while also guiding them toward a more intentional and engaged spiritual life. It is particularly suited for those who appreciate scripture based teaching that connects biblical events to present-day faith experiences. Overall, based on the description, this book presents itself as a focused and reflective study that invites readers to move beyond surface-level belief and into a more active and personal pursuit of spiritual transformation.
I am so excited about this book! For so long I have seen God‘s Spirit move with precision and power in my own life and have been seeing how he is speaking to others as well. God’s cleansing and life-changing Holy Spirit seems to be the Christian church’s best kept secret. Finally the silence of unanswered questions is broken by this bold book. “Who is the Holy Spirit? And is He relevant today?” If you have been pondering these same questions then it’s time to pick up this book.
You will be amazed to see the parallel of the woman’s beautiful story and where the Christian Church is at today in regards to the Holy Spirit! Learn more about this desperate woman who had great faith and a fearless heart and fall in love with how all her needs were met (and more!) after experiencing Jesus. At the conclusion of this book you may find yourself with a similar state of mind and heart...like I did!
