Arsenic, second in command of the Drakkaris dragon guard and legendary assassin, knows that he's not worthy of a mate. How could a professional killer possibly find love? And yet, when a dangerous mission to save an imprisoned human leads to the task of being her personal bodyguard, the stand-offish dragon just might have to reconsider everything he knows (or thinks he knows) about love.
Farrah hates shifters. After being captured by wolves, taken to a remote island, and used for horrible experiments, she is ready to give up. But just when she's about to lose hope, she's rescued in the nick of time by incredible men with incredible powers. And one in particular, with bright green eyes and an indelible intensity, offers to protect her while she gets back to her normal life at home. But life is anything but normal with a man like Arsenic around.
Despite her reservations, Arsenic ends up being a much kinder (and much sexier) protector than Farrah could have possibly imagined. But with the possibility of having her memory erased, Farrah must weigh if the horror of the past outweighs the possibility of a future with a man she doesn't think she could ever forget. And time is running out, because there are horrors from Farrah's past that are more than just a memory...
Warning: This series about a powerful team of dragons who are here to find mates, settle down, and help save the world. These books contain lots of action, some violence, and hot, sexy scenes.
This is the third in the series, the first two are here:
Terry is the author of over forty bestselling shifter romances. She spends her spare time dreaming of dragons, playing with her pets, and watching sunsets from her home in the mountains alongside her husband (who she suspects would make a great bear shifter). She loves the wild outdoors, her fans, all readers, and getting lost in a great book.

So, I realize these stories are silly and fun and not to really take them seriously but Terry is seriously the worst when it comes to consistency regarding her lore.
If you’ve read other shifter authors you know each of them makes their own rules for things like how humans can or can’t be turned and how mate’s are established. In one series mates are bitten, in another a ceremony takes place etc you get the idea.
With Terry’s, most of the series explain that unprotected (vaginal) intercourse is how a mate bond is set but she only sticks to this when it suits her and it’s aggravating. In book one and two the dragons are fumbling around with condoms to keep from mating their heroine before she’s “ready”. Not in this one.
In book three, apparently it’s ok to have unprotected sex prior to mating... which I’m guessing was a ceremony or something? I know I know, Nikki it’s a silly PNR, lighten up. But it irritates me regardless.
Also, in the beginning she notes the Dagger he gives her is missing, then later right in the nick of time she suddenly has it in her sweater?
Oh and yeah the heroine was traumatized but did she have to be quite that selfish and bratty? When the bad guy comes for her (cause they do, like clockwork in Terry’s novels) I let myself daydream from a few seconds...
Arsenic would thank him profusely (maybe offer him a beer?) and ask if he’d like a reward for carting her away and saving us all from the trouble of listening her whine about her precious “normal” (it was actually crappy and pathetic) life.
But alas she’s saved and now he’s stuck with her a long looooong time. Poor dragon.
Arsenic is one of the most deadly dragons of this set as far as I can see. He also seems to be one of the most damaged. He feels he deserves nothing. I suppose it's fitting that his mate is also damaged. I liked how all of these dragons have such individual personalities. Great short read. I am hoping for Zinc's story soon!
Arsenic, he is deadly in every way and oh so lonely not believing he will ever find a mate oh the sad, sad all powerful good looking dragon lol gosh I feel so sorry for his sad sack hot ass.....lol
It's a good thing he meets traumatised Farrah who wants nothing to do with shifter's but actually needs a dragons protection it's a funny pairing and a good short story with some laugh's.
Farrah was not a dragon heart but had been captured along with the other women these evil shifters held hostage. When the other women were moved to another location Farrah was left behind for experimentation and torture. Just when she was near death and completely broken she was rescued by the Dragon Guard, mainly Arsenic and Marina and faced with another type of captivity – her own fears. All she wanted to do was forget everything that had happened to her and the Oracle held out that option – eventually. But first Farrah would be allowed to return home with a guardian, Arsenic, to insure that she was no longer hunted, then the Oracle would grant her wish if that was what she still wanted.
During the rescue and shortly after Arsenic had troubling feelings about this human. The Oracle had made it clear that she was not a mate to any of the dragons, but if that were true then why was his dragon convinced that she was theirs. Guarding Farrah was pure torture to Arsenic as his feelings grew for this brave little human – and all she wanted was to forget his existence. Not much hope for a lifelong commitment there.
I’ve enjoyed Arsenic for some time now. He’s totally rough around the edges, but he came from a far different background from most of the rest of the Dragon Guard. His attempts at cooking produce horrendous, inedible results but he keeps putting what he likes together in one pot… with not so great results. I’ve had a soft spot for this guy and I’d hoped for an amazing mate for him. Unfortunately, I couldn’t connect with Farrah. The more honorable things Arsenic did for her, the more it seemed Farrah set out to hurt him with words and actions. I tried putting myself in her place, thinking of what she’d been through but no matter what I did I simply couldn’t like this mate of a favorite dragon of mine. Perhaps as the series continues and she is involved in the next stories my opinion of her may change. I’ll give her that benefit of a doubt.
(Funny isn’t it, how we readers become protective of characters we know from a long set of series?)
I enjoyed Arsenic Dragon, it wasn’t all dependent upon my liking Farrah. And I’d recommend this story and the entire series to any Paranormal Romance or shifter Romance reader who enjoys action, danger, sexy mates and a group of dragons to care about.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
I love this cover! My love of Terry's dragons started with Double Dragons (2015) and has not waned in over 2 years. I have purchased, borrowed with KU, and received review copies of Terry's books - and I can honestly say all of her books are enjoyable (even the Bear Shifters and I am not really crazy about bears - I prefer big cats and LOVE dragons).
Arsenic and Zinc (anxiously awaiting Zinc Dragon) have been my favorites in this group of dragons. Arsenic is not one of the highborn Drakkan dragons and along with him being the assassin for the Guard, has always left him feeling as if he is not totally accepted and just tolerated. Even with his upbringing, Arsenic has chosen honor as his guide through life and it has served him well. He is the stoic, ever vigilant, and very literal dragon. Farrah suffered through hell before she was rescued and is having trouble in the aftermath of her trauma. She is a caregiver and even though she has been repeatedly told that she is not a dragon heart, she is strong, compassionate, and brave.
There is a little action in this book, as it starts off with Farrah's rescue but it is really over quickly and only showcases one of Arsenic's talents and has a skirmish at the end, but the story centers on Farrah's recovery and integration back into society. There is a little interaction with the rest of the dragon guard at the beginning and end of the story, but the majority of the story takes place away from the mansion and Arsenic's fellow dragons.
Overall, this story is sweet, as Arsenic seeks to deny himself and help give Farrah what she thinks she wants. There is some humor in Arsenic's banter with Cadmium (nicknames is all I am going to say). And a grumpy dragon that finds his mate :)
Once again - I wholeheartedly recommend all of Terry's Dragons (Aegis, the Emerald Dragon is still my all time favorite). I received a copy of this book from the author and I voluntarily reviewed this book.
Arsenic is the second in command of the Guard and the best assassin. He doubts that he will ever find a mate since he needs to be cold and unfeeling to do his job. Then the dragons get an emergency mission. Marina hears a desperate call for help and the dragons rush in to save a woman prisoner. The other dragons do a frontal assault to give Arsenic a chance to save the woman. Arsenic makes it in and is furious that the shifters there were planning to take advantage of Farrah. He kills them all and rescues Farrah. Farrah had been captured with another dragon heart woman but because she wasn't a dragon heart, she was not valued. She was taken away and was experimented on. Her life is so miserable that she wishes to die but then her captor decides to give her to his minion shifters to do what they will. When she is rescued by Arsenic, all she wants to go home and forget everything she knows about the shifter world. The oracle pities her and agrees Farrah can go back if a dragon goes with her to protect her. Farrah agrees just wanting to go back to her old life. Arsenic is confused by his feelings for Farrah. She makes him feel protective and possessive. It almost feels like she is his mate but she isn't a dragon heart. Somehow he needs to care for her but try to be an honorable bodyguard. Farrah has made it clear that she will agree to have her memories erased in just a few days. This is a great story with Arsenic whose has always felt inferior and unloved and Farrah trying to overcome a horrible experience. I voluntarily received a copy of this story and this is my honest review.
Arsenic Dragon, the third book in the Dragon Guard of Drakkaris Series, doesn’t disappoint. Arsenic is the best Assasin from Drakkaris, second in command of the Dragon Guard, too serious, a little difficult, and a horrible cook. He doesn’t think that he is made to have a mate. Farrah a human nurse captured along with Dragon heart women was collateral damage, she wasn’t originally part of the kidnapping plan although she is still useful as a guinnea pig for the wolves and wyvern. When she is rescued by the dragons all she wants to do is forget everything that happened to her and go back to living the life she had before. She has a feeling though, her protector Arsenic and the feelings that she realizes she has for him could make things more complicated. Although he always seemed like one of the most awkward dragons of the bunch, Arsenic turned out to be sweet and honorable Dragon. Trying to what is right for Farrah no matter what his heart is feeling. I really love that even Farrah cannot stomach Arsenic's cooking experiments. He is protective and Farrah is just wht the hardened assassin needed to soften up. The story made laugh and swoon, a great read. I always look forward to these dragons, trying to fit in an alien world fighting for their mates. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review
This is the latest in the dramatic, charming and heartwarming series of Dragon Shifters from another world coming to Earth to find mates and help protect humans from evil shifters. The latest dragon, Arsenic, has serious image problems. Growing up in poverty, with criminal parents and relatives he is on Earth believing he won't deserve to find a mate. He sees himself as a top assassin, but doesn't believe anyone gives him more credit than that. Although his adventures in cooking certainly give the impression He s trying to overcome his angry, antisocial image.. During a daring rescue, Arsenic saves Farrah from torture, rape and sure death. She has been horribly abused by a crazed wolf shifter who experiments on her because, since she isn't a Dragon Heart female, she is expendable. She is terrified of shifters after her ordeal. When Arsenic volunteers to be her guardian so she can return home, he just hopes she can overcome her terror. Through every day activities and Arsenic's gentle and honorable demeanor, Farrah is won over. But they still face fears, danger and misunderstandings. By the end of this book, you will truly wonder how the Oracle does not see Farrah a Dragon Heart of the first order. This is a fast read filled with humor, pathos and redemption. Loved the story and both Arsenic and Farrah are stellar protagonists.
Arsenic Dragon is the third book in Terry Bolryder’s new Dragon Guard of Drakkaris series. Arsenic is an assassin of Drakkaris and the second-in-command of the dragon guard. Farrah is a human who is captured, tortured and experimented on after she stops to help a dragon’s heart. From the the beginning of the story I loved Arsenic’s character. He is an honourable dragon with a strong, controlled, hard exterior but inside he just wants to protect others and be loved. Farrah has been through a lot and just wants to forget, but when Arsenic volunteers to act as her bodyguard, she begins to realize that all shifters aren’t evil. Sparks fly and a connection is made, but will Farrah and Arsenic open up about their true feelings before Farrah’s past comes a calling? Read to find out! Another great book from Terry Bolryder! I loved the hints dropped about the evil female dragon mastermind. I can’t wait to learn more about this plot line.
All the books in Terry Bolryder’s series contain a happily ever after and can be read as a standalone, however, reading it in order will give you a better appreciation for the characters and the series itself.
This is a voluntary review of an advanced readers copy.
This one for me was very very good. Arsenic and Farrah make a great pair. He is strong, honorable, dependable and is also the second in command of the Dragon guard. He is also an assassin who does his job flawlessly. He can't cook worth a darn eventhough he tries, much to the chagrin of his fellow Dragon Brothers. In his story, he saves a life of a human who is not a dragon heart. He realizes immediately how broken she is. And Arsenic knows a thing or two about being broken. He is only to do his mission and has been warned to not get too close to this human.
Farrah has been held captive a long time. She is immune to showing her captives how broken she truly is. Being a lab rat, is taking its toll on her. She wants this horrendous ordeal over to the extent she'd rather not live than endure anymore. She has an immense terror of shifters and initially she can't seem to shake her fear even though these new shifters have come to rescue her.
Can someone so broken be pieced back together somewhat? Can someone who feels unworthy ever obtain what he sees around him?
Great story, I still look forward to the next two stories in the series and I'm hoping they come out soon.
I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review
Arsenic is the 3rd book in the Dragon Guard of Drakkaris series. I have been waiting to read Arsenic's story and I am not disappointed. He is by far my favorite dragon. In this book, Arsenic and the rest of the dragons go on a mission to save a human who has been tortured by shifters. He uses his deadly skills as an assassin to get her out, and take out pretty much all the shifters there. I loved this book because it shows a different side of Arsenic. He comes off as a cold, deadly dragon, who can be very sarcastic and cocky. There is a sweet side to him that you get to see in this book, and you also get to see why he is so driven to prove himself. He uses his horrible childhood experiences to help Farrah, the human that they save. She is extremely brave as she tries to move on from her bad experience and make a new life for herself. The chemistry between them is amazing and the story is well written. Plenty of action and love scenes in this, and as always, the dragons make you laugh along the way.
Great book! I wasn't sure about Arsenic finding a mate, but now he is my favorite of this group. Farrah is a human that was captured with a bunch of dragon-hearted women. Because she wasn't one, she was sold to a lab for experimentation. Crios was an evil wolf shifter who loved to try to break Farrah by doing tons of testing. Including injecting her with wyvern venom to see if she would survive. The Oracle and Marina are keeping track of the dragon-hearted and missed that Farrah had been kidnapped too. When they realized it, they asked the dragons for help especially Arsenic, because he is an assassin. When she is rescued, Arsenic is sent into the human world with Farrah to protect her. If it remains safe, she can have her memories erased if the kidnapping. They form a relationship of sorts and now she has to decide on whether to forget or not. I love Terry Bolryder's books. I don't think I have read any that haven't at least earned 4stars. This one is definitely a 5 star in my opinion.
The Arsenic dragon doesn't believe he's good enough to deserve a mate, but honor-bound as the dragon guard 2nd-in-command and top assassin, he's first to gear up to rescue a woman being held prisoner by shifters.
Farrah was mistakenly taken, along with other dragon heart females, and used as a test subject for experimentation. Tormented and mentally traumatized, once rescued Farrah is terrified of shifters and desperately wishes to return home to her formally "normal" life. Going back to her world with Arsenic as her dragon protector she makes an attempt to get back to normal, only to find her world now revolves around a new normal. A normal that hopefully will include Arsenic by her side.
I adored Arsenic. He's been endearing throughout the books, and I was extremely happy for him to find his HEA, but I could not connect with Farrah and her wishy-washy stance on everything.
I enjoy this series and look forward to the next installment for these enchanting dragons.
*ARC received from author in exchange for an honest review.
Deemed unnecessary since she isn’t a dragon-heart, Farrah’s repeatedly experimented on by a mad scientist. Angry that Farrah isn’t appreciative of her circumstances, the scientist throws her to the horny shifter wolf guards. Annoyed that a female had slipped Marina and the Oracle’s notice, the dragon guard leap into action when they’re portal-ed to a lab.
Arsenic takes the lead killing the tightly circled wolves grasping the whimpering female in the center and protects her while she’s being calmed. Touching Farrah softens Arsenic’s heart as his teammates decimate the remaining wolves so they can all portal to the dragon’s mansion.
Farrah’s adamant memories of the shifters be erased and she be returned home. The Oracle agrees but insists on a guard until they’re certain Farrah was caught accidentally not intentionally. Arsenic volunteers for the duty without hesitation and is admonished he’s expressly forbidden to mate Farrah. But they’re alone in the human world at her house. Rating: 3.75stars
Oh my! This is a great story. I am still anxiously awaiting Zinc's story as well as the others. But Arsenic is a super character, as is Farrah. He is so honorable, and tries so hard to do what is right, while she is just trying to get her life back after a horrendous experience. And are they ever good together.
If you like shifter stories, especially those with dragons,, along with good character development, some action, some steamy scenes as well as a few giggles with your emotional dealings, then this is for you, but read them all in order: I like the Double Dragons first song with Tiger Protectors, but they are not necessary, if you don't like mild menage. Awakened Dragons is the first series, then read Rent-A-Dragon, Date-a-Dragon, Awakened Sea Dragons and finally this series Dragon Guard of Drakkaris. Then you will be anxiously waiting for the next installment, like I am. In the meantime, enjoy!
I don't know what is the problem in this series. In every book I find contradictions and lack of information. First, how they know that this female is a dragon heart?! There is no mark or trait. Second, the mating process is unbelievably ridiculous. I read many paranormal and alien books and most the time the mating between the hero and his female was fascinating and magical. There was inner connection or mental link and many other interesting things. However, I don't have anything worth saying about the mating in this series. In first book, sex + no protection= mating. In this book, Arsenic and Farrah had sex without protection but they didn't mate. Another thing make me lose my interest. Dragons should mate with only dragon heart females to prevent their poison from reaching their heart and die. Farrah isn't dragon heart and Arsenic chose her without any problem or explanation how his heart will not be poisoned. Odd.
I love the crotchety Arsenic and learning about his life helps understand his attitude. Farrah has been a terrified captive for too long. When the Oracle sends the dragons to rescue her, she is beyond horrified to be in a shifter world. When the Oracle gives her some choices, she agrees to have a protector if she can go back to her home. Arsenic volunteers. Despite a rocky start, they become friends, and more although neither will admit it. Another character study of the past reflecting on the life we live. Both Arsenic and Farrah deserve a rosy future with the past they have survived. Another favorite (it seems each new book becomes my favorite with Ms. Bolryder's works. Don't miss it or any of the dragon series'. I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.
Arsenic by Terry Bolryder is book 3 in the dragons of Drakkaris series and a 5 star read. Arsenic is an assassin on his home planet, he’s from one of the lower classes of dragons but he’s fought hard to become second in command of the dragon guard. Arsenic has a tough outer shell but he’s really a softy at heart. Farrah has been kidnapped by shifters, she’s then rescued by the dragons of Drakkaris, she wants nothing to do with shifters and wants her old life back, Arsenic is sent with her to protect her from any threat that might still be out there. Both Farrah and Arsenic have had things tough but they are so perfect for each other ❤️ I stayed up late reading this book and it was worth losing sleep over!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Arsenic is the third story in the Dragon Guard of Drakkaris series. It is a wonderful story. This is Arsenic and Farrah's story. Arsenic is an assassin and the second in command of the guard for the king. He and his fellow guardsman are sent on a mission to rescue a human woman. Farrah is a captive undergoing torture everyday and about to give up. How do you recover from the horror imposed by shifters. You hope for rescue that is never coming, until it does. The Oracle sends her back to Earth with Arsenic as her bodyguard. The story has just begun for these two injured souls. Come read their great journey. I give this wonderful read 5 stars. "I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced readers copy without pressure to do so".
I love this book. In the previous books, Arsenic has always come off as a bit of a loner and a mystery. He pretty much does his own thing, and doesn't seem to really interact with the other dragons. It's sooooo nice to see him get a chance for happiness. This book lets you in on his background and why he always seems a bit withdrawn from the other dragons. He always seems to want to fit in with them, but he never really knows how ( see his cooking attempts. ).
While I would have preferred to have Zinc's story first, because I feel he is the most in need of a mate, I'm very happy to see Arsenic find the one who completes him. Will definitely be reading this book again, along with all the others in the series.
I love Terry Bolryder's dragons - every single clueless fire-breathing one of them. Arsenic, a dragon from Drakaris, is the metalloid misfit of the Dragon Guard - a cold-blooded assassin, a loner, looked down on by other metal dragons - he never dreams there might be a mate for him. He's glad to rescue Farrah from the wyverns and wolf-shifters - it feels better to help rather than kill. He's a noble dragon, happy to guard his rescued human even though she's not a dragon-heart, not his mate, not the one who makes his heart race.... Or maybe he's got it wrong? Super story-telling from the best of the dragon writers.
Arsenic is the protector and assassin of the group. He doesn't feel like he is worthy of a mate. Imagine his surprise when she shows up. Farrah was kidnapped and tortured by shifters. Needless to say all she wants is to forget they exist. Arsenic will do whatever makes his mate happy even if that means her not remembering him. How can fate me that cruel? Is there any hope for these two? Wonderful read. Possibly the best of the "Dragon Guard" series so far.
*I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing*
I love these dragons! Very well done! Arsenic didn’t have high expectations that he would find a mate. He figured he didn’t deserve one. I love his determination to be the best he could be at the things he does. He’s ultra protective of anyone he cares for. Farrah may not even be a ‘dragon heart,’ but she certainly has great inner strength to have survived what she went through. There is so much miscommunication (or total lack of it) between Arsenic and Farrah! It’s no wonder it takes another crisis to get them to see the light. An excellent story and it tops my list in this series!
I stumbled across book 1 in the series and bam I was hooked, of course book 2 was hence devoured. Each dragon special in every way, but Arsenic very easily throughout both books became my favourite and as soon as I realised his happily ever after was released I may have squealed like a tween with glee. You know what? His story was as special as he is. This is a series so my suggestion is to start at the beginning, the back story is as important as the dragons finding their hearts.
I loved arsenic and Farrah’s story. I was anxiously waiting for his story to be published and it didn’t disappoint. Farrah has been abused severely by shifters and doesn’t trust anyone. Arsenic has never felt like he was able to overcome his poor upbringing and be worthy of others. Together, they helped each other thrive and reach their full potential. It was a great book with plenty of action thAt I would highly recommend. It was great being able to see inside his mind and know more about arsenic as he was such an enigmatic character!
This book is amazing! It written on a way that you don't have to have read the previous books to understand, but isn't boring/repeating for people who are reading the full series. I wasn't able to put the book down once I started reading it. I've been waiting for Arsenic story and it didn't disappoint me. The book is fun and sexy, but also emotional as both characters have a lot of baggage and have to work hard on overcoming them.
I was given an arc for an honest review, but also bought the book on amazon.ca to support this great author.
Arsenic is happy for his friends that their finding their mates but he was sad because he didn't believe he would find his. Farrah was losing the will to fight against what was being do to her by the mad doctor that was her tormenter. Their both hurt in different ways but very similar pine behind them. I love that in all of the Dragons books Terry has written the plots are all very different, but there very touching and page turning that you don't want to put it down. Looking forwards the rest of this set of books.
Arsenic “Nic” is here!!! Farrah has gone through a tough couple of month, being kidnaped and torture by a shifter mad scientist is no joke, so of course she does not want anything to do with shifter (of any kind). Arsenic “Nic” royal assassin thinks he is to damage and not deserving of a mate of his own, but he is willing to risk it all to be with Farrah. This is a lovely story, if you are not already in love with M.s Bolryder’s dragons, Arsenic will win you over for sure. I cannot wait for Zinc story (even though I suspect he is getting some from the new and mysterious female Dragon).
