I loved seeing this piece of music and story performed live, on stage as a kid. I didn’t know there was a book about the story. I loved seeing the line of music on each page for the character in that part of the story. That was fun to see. I love seeing the music in the book too.

The art was fun. The kids have seen this live. The nephew loved seeing the duck inside the Wolf’s tummy. He thought this was a great story. He gave it 4 stars.

I was at a family reunion that was hosted at my aunt’s house and she still has a few books from her children’s library from the time I was a kid. I did raid it to read to the kids.

We love Peter and the Wolf, so we were pleased to find this picture book that contains musical notation for each instrument. The story is illustrated in a folk art style which suits the story and they are appealing and detailed to look at. Perhaps the illustrator was intentionally making the instruments look different or naive to be in keeping with the folk art style but several were unrecognizable as the instruments they were meant to be, only the violin looked more or less as it should. My daughter enjoyed playing along to this as she has several of the instruments featured, those she didn't she used piano. We enjoy books that include some music and Peter and the Wolf is a good example of that.

Includes notation for all the musical themes. Unfortunately, the illustrations of instruments are a little problematic. Grandfather appears playing a bassoon the size of an alto clarinet. Why can't artists study photographs to get these things right?
