The book doesn't really start until page 69.
Don't bother with the first 69 pages.

This is an erotic picture book, not a love manual or sex manual. Most images are of the women and they focus on her beautiful and sexy curves and breasts-- which isn't a problem, I love the female body. But I'm not going to deny (as others have) that this book is a cheap easy read and mostly full of erotic pictures of women.

Some pictures include an adequate view of the man, maybe three. The rest are just for admiring the amazing perfection that is the female human body. Not surprised that they had to use so many pictures to make up for the book's lack of depth and information.

I did admire and appreciate the photos when they began to describe the positions. These weren't vulgar and they were artistically done, but there is no denying that the focus was ALMOST always on the female body. It is what it is.

I wouldn't buy this book if you actually want to read and learn in depth on how to really and truly have the best sex ever. I mean, it's a good aid, it's ok for super beginners, people with no imagination or capability of creative thought, or for people who just want to flip through the positions the same way a mom hurriedly flips through an easy recipe book to decide what she wants for dinner that is quick, fast, easy, and relatively satisfactory.

It's more like a quick cheat sheet to sex.
Definitely not the ultimate guide, and if it is the ultimate guide for modern lovers...then I understand now why there are so many divorces. (Lol)
Pair this up with the original texts: the Kama sutra, the perfumed garden, etc
It is not a good stand alone book at all...it's a flip book of sexy pictures and of a few positions. It can help you dip your toes into some things but there is no depth to anything.
The authors picked a handful of quotes and reused them throughout the book.
Obviously the erotic pictures were used as a supplement for their lack of thoroughness with words. They know that people want to see naked pictures more than they want to read.
It's a super dumbed down version of how to have the ultimate sex, but maybe that's ok because we are a super dumbed down society. *shrugs*

It does offer a lot of pretty bad advice in the beginning 69 pages...so beware. i.e. Suggesting using foods such as sweet dips, honey, yogurt, cream etc as lubricants to enter a woman is a very bad idea. Especially if these foods aren't organic and from good natural sources, or contain sugar and other added ingredients. It disrupts the natural Ph level and can cause really bad problems such as horrible and uncomfortable infections and rashes and a variety of other issues. So, if you truly love your woman, please reconsider. Another reason to reconsider: her infection and rash can be passed on to you :) and it'll mean taking a break from intercourse until it heals. No fun.

I thought about giving it three stars, but now I'm going to give it two because it angers me that it falsely advertises itself as being a modern Kama...it isn't. The book doesn't deliver what it promises. It doesn't fulfil its purpose and main objective of being the ultimate Kama sutra guide. It uses a compilation of several texts...(perfumed garden, Ananga Ranga, etc) and not a very good compilation at that because they reuse quotes throughout the book. It's definitely not the ultimate guide of secrets to the erotic pleasure. It's boring and full of pictures directly focused on the naked women to make up for the lack of depth. If you have any imagination at all, you probably will be as severely disappointed by this book as I was. Dull. Dull. Dull.

I have never looked at the original one, but this modern version is pretty good. It combines some of the original text with newer text, which makes it more readable. I was surprised at how much of it was similar to yoga and even included some information on the chakras. Good reference for couples.

This very well illustrated book is by far the best Kama Sutra visual book out there; their not changing anything but using what's essential to the Modern Society we live in and removing the not so essential, there main concentration is this book is demonstration more than literal which is great for use males. Pictures are very well photographed, detail literacy is precise and understandable. Personally I choose this book over the Joys of Sex and if I had the opportunity to change option, I would do it all over again. Modern Kama Sutra at it's potential! Well worth possessing, and I'm honest not a liar. If it's literacy your looking for than this is not for you but if it's demonstration than this if for you.

I enjoyed the book. I tried reading it a few years back and quit it half way, it wasn't very relatable then. It features ancient lessons/wisdom on sexuality but explained in the modern world context.

I especially like the fact that the authors discussed sexuality as a whole, from mental preparation to the physical. The book may be useful to both men and women.

As an author of erotic romance and erotica, I've looked for and seen dozens of books claiming to be the "genuine" Kama Sutra, but this one is the closest I've ever come to the real deal. The biggest discrepancy between all of the editions is the naming and terminology of all of the positions, but this one is probably the most accurate I've found. And I won't even begin to describe the feast for the eyes that it contains - the pictures are erotic in a gentle, loving kind of way, and I'm sure those photographed are just models, but they are doing an exceptional job of portraying couples in loving relationships. Kudos to Kamini and Kirk Thomas for a lovely job and a book that not only will I enjoy and refer back to, but my partner has already stuck full of flags!

More sexy research! Another book I have always wanted to read and did. It was exactly what I expected. I did not find any of it offensive and it was actually quite informative and beautifully written. I enjoyed it. I found it quite romantic. Definitely a book to be shared with the one you love. I highly recommend it!There are photographs which I found to be quite tastefully done, but some people who are offended by nudity should stay away. It is a true work of art and non-pornographic in any way, shape, or form.

This book was something of a disappointment. I mean, I'm a pervert. I would hope a notorious book would be perverse instead of just ridiculous prescriptive behavior. I mean I'm anxious to try the invisibility recipe, but mostly, it took me *forever* to read and that's proof it did not "grab me by the dick" as I'd hoped it would. Ah well.
