A small girl's rose-colored fantasy of being queen of the world begins with her enjoyment of one hundred lollipops per day and her neverending roller coaster rides, on which her little brother is occasionally granted admittance.
For me, the type of illustration didn't suit the playful aspect of the story. The emphasis on the sister looking out for and including her little brother were sweet.
A young girl dreams about all the fun things she could do if she were queen of the world. Sweetly, she mentions the things she'd let her little brother do, too. I like the concept and the text is well executed, but I didn't think the illustrations matched the story at all. The story is humorous and ambitious and specific, the illustrations are whimsical and blurry and undefined. I'd love to see the story redone with different illustrations and I would bet that there's a great story out there somewhere that would dovetail beautifully with these illustrations.
I’m so excited to find out what this book is called! I had it as a kid and read it tons. I personally LOVE the illustrations, because to a kid they don’t feel out of place—they feel magical, yet make perfect sense. This is one I’d love to have for my own kids in the future.
Ran across this while I was pulling holds off the shelves at the library. Well, you know the title appealed to me so I took a few minutes to read it. Very nice book with beautiful art. Nice story for and about siblings.
