Many literary critics rate him among the greatest authors of world literature and consider multiple books written by him to be highly influential masterpieces. They consider his Notes from Underground of the first existentialist literature. He is also well regarded as a philosopher and theologian.

Translation was very bad

நான் படிக்கும் தஸ்தயேவ்ஸ்கியின் முதல் புத்தகம். ஏர்கனவே இவரின் குற்றமும் தண்டனையும்(crime and punishment) வாங்கி வைத்து விட்டு இதை வசிக்கலாம் என்று ஆரம்பித்தேன். இந்த கதை நான் தினமும் பார்த்த பார்க்கின்ற கதை போலவே உள்ளது. நம் அனைவருக்குமே இந்த அனுபவம் இருக்கும். கதைப்படி ஒரு உயர்ந்த பதவியில் இருப்பவர் அனைவருடனும் தான் அன்பாகவும், மனிதாபினமாக நடக்கிறேன் பார் என்று ஒரு விளம்பரத்திற்க்கு ஆசைப்பட்டு எப்படி சிறுமை படுகிறார் மற்றும் இதனால் எப்படி எல்லாம் மற்றவர்கள் பாதிக்கிறார்கள் என்று அழகாக விவரித்து இருக்கிறார். சிறுகதை என்றாலும் மிக அதிகமான மற்றும் அழகான நுண்சித்தரிப்பின் வழியே நம்மை உள்ளே அழைத்து சென்று விடுகிறார். மொழிபெயர்ப்பு சரளமாக உள்ளது. துப்பாக்கிகள், கிருமிகள் எக்கு என்று ஒரு மொழிபெயர்ப்பு வாங்கி மிகவும் சூடு பட்டு கொண்டேன்.
