He depends on the kindness of strangers.
Fremont: As a mining geologist, I scouted out uranium on the rez. My boss was an unstable tyrant who would tolerate no deviance from his sociopathic plan. I found uranium, all right—making the Navajo hogans glow, their corn shine green from space, their cattle keel over, twisted and deranged.
It was a game-changer when I realized what decades of this poison was doing to the people. And a chance meeting with the white priest who had chosen his own deviance in the desert, well, my destiny was changed forever. I’ve been down, but I haven’t been out. And Father Moloney is the premier guide to assist me on this coming out journey.
Father Noel: A cancer invaded our land. My parishioners were dying at a high rate, their limbs gnarled, fingers fused together, useless. But I never expected my crisis of faith to come in the form of a built, ripped geologist.
I dreamt of Fremont’s arrival, his backpack bristling with scientific instruments. He holds the future of my congregation in his beautiful hands. Will he go up against the powerful conglomerate, risking health and fortune to help us? More than that, he’s stolen my soul with his vulnerable, down-to-earth honesty.
At first I saw Fremont as a fun distraction, a sort of cuddly toy to play with, to dominate and control. He’s much more than that—he pushes back and has me on my knees. I was sent here to this hellhole as punishment for toying with a subordinate on another rez. Little did they know this poisonous, gorgeous desert would be my salvation.

This is not an MC book that you'd expect from Layla Wolfe, the Bent Zealots are on the margins of the story. However, don't despair....the writing is as good as ever, there is violence, there are steamy scenes, and underlying it all is a very real problem, contamination of land and the watershed on a Native American reservation.

Our heroes are Fremont, a geologist working for a mining company, and Father Noel, a somewhat disgraced Priest living on the rez.

After a few false starts their relationship blossoms, but the pollution problem is getting worse, and the results of this are seen in twisted limbs, deformities, and high rates of cancer amongst the resident population.

Only Fremont can help them.....but does he have the guts to stand up to his boss?

Will he betray those he has offered to help?

Will Fremont and Noel ever see each other again?

You'll have fun finding out, as there is a thread of humour running through what is essentially a serious story.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book....read it in one sitting in fact.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I was actually surprised that I liked it this much. It is definitely a different type of MC book and brings us on a journey of Fremont, a geologist looking into the amount of uranium on the Rez, and Father Noel, the priest on the Rez. Let’s just say that it’s not just uranium they find together. This book has action, violence, suspense, secrets and some amazingly hot scenes between these two men. I would definitely recommend this book to others!

Let me get this part out of the way: if you are OFFENDED by any of the following – DO NOT READ THIS BOOK. Period. End of. Homosexuality – the act or the fantasies, foul mouths, obvious displays of domination, submission, bullying and violence. You won’t like this book – for it has all of that and more: a storyline that brings the best intentions to right wrongs of long standing, and the search of two men to find acceptance and a place in a world that will be shocked, dismissive and discriminatory. Well, any but the world of the Bent Zealots.

Freemont was a whiz kid in the geologic field – after flying through MIT and a stint at the EPA his reputation is on the rise. Thing was – he wasn’t happy: facing questions and deeply held fantasies that he never shared with his wife. Unfortunately, he didn’t share these by speaking, but by acting – and his wife was more than vocal with her coworkers (who were also his) and anyone else who cared to listen, and probably many who didn’t. But, his boss – a seriously overblown, egomaniacal fool reminiscent of another blowhard in the news, is using his new ‘shame’ to manipulate and control (even more than usual) his discovery of Uranium in what are now abandoned mine areas scattered throughout the Navajo reservation.

Noel immigrated from Ireland to New York when young, had a youth (and years after) spent doing the wrong thing, gaining a well-deserved reputation as a tough guy, take no prisoners, bend to my will sort of man. Realizing he’d lost his humanity and way, he joined the seminary in an attempt to find peace and give back. When the Catholic church, in an effort to manage this wild child with an unusual take on the gospel and his calling, with increasingly remote postings and assignments, and a relationship with another priest came to light – he left that church, took up another religion that was more tolerant of him as a complete being, and he’s ended up in Bent Zealots territory, a small church on the reservation. Prone to riding his Fatboy with his cassock and collar, he’d been hoping and waiting for something and someone to help him make a real mark and difference.

With Freemont’s arrival, the dire circumstances that surround the “Navajo Neuopathy” come to light, Uranium waste, tailings and sludge are poisoning the reservation and it’s people – grazing lands, housing, even wells. But, Freemont’s boss is only interested in the increase in the price for Uranium – demanding he find new veins of the dangerous mineral for his company to exploit. Morally, Freemont is stuck in the middle – he wants to tell the EPA and get the land cleared, and he can’t seem to reconcile the Navajo’s belief that he was sent to save them, combined with the attraction for Noel, and his repeated statements that Freemont is the one who can bring change. Interpersonally, Freemont’s fear of ‘coming out’ and his lust for the priest fight with his upbringing as a good Jewish boy who works for a man who could destroy him professionally, if not physically threaten him with an over-sized bodyguard reminiscent of Ivan Drago.

Science, the effect of radiation poisoning, the lack of concern for the health and well-being of the people already subjugated with the obscure and racist segregation of reservations, the struggles between morally right and professional suicide, the fear of taking action, a need to deflect and even hide the budding relationship between he and Noel, and the internal struggles that each go through on this meandering path to a life hoped for yet undefined, the story is layered, nuanced and emotionally present. The faith that Noel has in Freemont, a faith that seems to fly in the face of everything that is palpable around them, combined with the real support from both the Bent Zealots and the Navajo is the foundation of the life that the two will build together, as they find a way to happiness. If you’ve read the others in this series: you’ll reconnect with Twinkletoes, yet the Zealots are mostly in the background here as this becomes the journeys of two men finding their way, separate and together, to a life that fulfills, excites and provides happiness.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the author for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Freemont is a mining geologist who is sent to an Indian rez to scout for uranium. He hits the jack pot in more than one way. The rez is highly contaminated with uranium. He finds this poison is causing cancer, early deaths, gnarled and fused fingers to the people on the rez.
Father Noel Maloney is the white priest on the rez. He had been sent to this hellhole as punishment for having been caught in very compromising position with another man. The Bent Zealots MC, a gay MC, is very involved and supportive to Father Noel, the church and the rez.
Really enjoyed how Freemont and Noel's relationship evolves. Interesting how they both had been caught in comprimizing positions that results in their ending on the same rez. Is is fate, destiny? It definately results in one hell of a journey! Noel helps Freemont come out of the closet.
If you like gay romance, daddy Dom, BDSM, MC, suspence, violence, no cligghanger and HEA, I highly recommend this book.

This story is set on the reservation, Fremont is a mining geologist who found that the uranium that was found on the res. Was killing father Noel’s people and Fremont was there to help. At the beginning of the book there is a quote that I loved.

“You’re not the only cuddly toy that was ever enjoyed by any boy. You’re not the only choo-choo train that was left out in the rain, the day after Santa came, you’re not the only cherry delight that was left out in the night, and gave up without a fight, you’re not the only cuddly toy that was ever, enjoyed by any boy. You’re not the kind of girl to tell your mother the kind of company you keep. I never told you not to love no other, you must of dreamed it in your sleep. Harry Nilsson”.

In the 5th book of the Bent Zealots, we get Freemont's story. I love this series as it is really different from other MC books I've read. The guys are all gay or bisexual and they all do what they can to take care of each other and people they love and care about. Father Noel is sent to the Rez as a punishment and that is where him and Freemont find each other. I loved the story of them building a relationship together and trying to do what is right. Loved the story, kept me engrossed in it. Very well written, easy to understand and... it's just a damn good book. Even though this is book 5 in the series, it can be a stand alone, although it will be easier if you read the other 4 books first; just so you know who is who and who is with who. Does that make sense? LOL

A Cuddly Toy, book five in The Bent Zeaots MC, follows Fremont Zuckerman and Noel Moloney. Fremont works as a geologist for a mining company looking into the amount of uranium on the Rez where he meets Father Noel. What Fremont ultimately discovers enough to make him disgusted, but with his tyrant of a boss breathing down his neck, will he be able to help the Navajo clean up this mess? Or will the poisoning of the people living there, and the land they live on, go undiscovered to help Fremont’s mining company keep profiting?

A Cuddly Toy: Bent Zealots

Good story.
A lot of drama and angst.
I truly felt for the Natives, they got the worst of a deal.
I know things like our government not cleaning up their messes really is happening to this day.
This story was about Fremont and Noah and coming to terms with the love they share, and their life together.
It was a HEA

A Cuddly Toy is the 5th book in The Bare Bones MC series.
This is no ordinary MC. These men are the Bent Zealots and the men in this MC are gay or bisexual.

A Cuddly Toy is Fremont (a mining geologist) and Father Noel Maloney (an Episcopal Reverend) story. Fremont is on the Reservation to scout out Uranium for an unscrupulous boss, Avery. Fremont meets Father Noel when he goes to confess his sins of working for a man with no scruples. Fremont finds Uranium contamination everywhere. Father Noel wants Fremont to do the right thing and report the contamination.

While reading A Cuddly Toy I just kept thinking gloom and doom. All this Uranium that Avery was searching for and when it was found Avery wanted it covered it over. And, all I kept thinking was those poor people living amongst all that uranium…. In the water, in the soil, and they fertilized with it, fed the cows with it, drank from the water with it. Ugh!

You can read A Cuddly Toy as a standalone but, if you have read the other books in this series you will see some of the characters from the previous books in A Cuddly Toy like Twinkle Toes and Ormand Tangier to just name a few.

Now for my warning. A Cuddly Toy is not for everyone. This book has some very hot and sexy scenes between men. You will also find BDSM, violence & suspense. As well as a good story. But, if you don’t like anything that was mentioned I would say, don’t read this book.

A Cuddly Toy is another highly enjoyable & entertaining book to read by Layla Wolfe.

Once again we venture into the wonderful world of Layla Wolfe's Bent Zealots Mc. While this storyline did include the wonderful Zealots they were not the prime players in this tale. They did play a role, Twinkletoes was a major player but the focus was on Fremont , father Noel and what was dirty at the Rez. Ms. Wolfe's books are always entertaining, have great characters and get down & dirty. There is nothing hotter then a tattooed priest who rides a Harley and there is a paragraph in the story where Fremont agrees with me. :) The struggles that the two men face as they dance through their attraction and their inner battles with what to do about it are very intense. Being a man of God adds to the problems and causes conflicts on both sides. However, the thrill of being bad seems to over power the fear of persecution. With that being said, I have to say I struggled with this story. The religious dialogue tended to confuse me and had me rereading parts to make sure I understood what was going on. There were several places that I was not sure who the character was and still feel as if I did know who was who. I understand that Noel was a man of god but it seemed he only talked in pros and I would think he would be able to talk normal when not in a sermon. Because of this I can only rate at 3.5 stars even if I enjoyed the story.
I volunteered to read this story for my honest opinion

This is a fantastic, intriguing MM romance and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
This book is about: The journey of two men, a somewhat disgraced priest (Father Noel) who's worried about the people where he stays. He meets a male geologist (Fremont) who works for the mining company that is mining in the same area. They are both attracted to each other and go through a lot of trials & tribulations before they get their HEA.
What you will find in this book is: a MC gang, hitmen, a devious mining company, drama, intrigue, suspense, twists & turns, some humor, adventure, action, enemies, danger, pollution/contamination, violence, secrets, domination/submission, profanity, threats, emotional feelings, happiness, lust, love, passion & steamy scenes.
The story-lines and plots are well-thought out and written. The characters are well-developed with individual personalities. I look forward to reading more books written by this talented author and I would recommend this book.

This was my first book by the author and it took me a while to get into it, I had to go back and forth a few times before i could get stuck in and it was worth it. While part of a series I found this was easily read as a standalone. Whilst the MC was there, they were not the center of this book.

Mostly centered on the reservation where Father Noel a disgraced priest is working and living , we get Freemont story. Freemont is a scientist and has come to scout out Uranium for his boss Avery. Finding it, his conscience sees him confessing to Noel. Noel who wants him to report this contamination where the people are drinking the water and feeding their animals.

\A serious book, there is still time for a romance between these men, but will it all work out. Read and find out. Well written and intriguing.

This entire series is unique and intriguing. Each story bringing it's own entertainment and individuality. So if you haven't read the first 4 I would suggest starting at the beginning. It isn't a necessity for understanding but there will be no regret in the enjoyment arena.
This storyline proves my point. Just an overall great story. Very well written and grammatical structure was strong.
Strong likable characters. I enjoyed reading and experiencing each one inside the story.
Lots and lots of substance inside the plot. Crammed full of romance, mystery, drama, etc. Some extra heat with lots of hot alone couple time.
I could go on and on with the positives. It really is simple~~~~ READ !!!!!! You will be glad you did. I am so excited for the next.

A Cuddly Toy is a little different than Layla Wolfe's usual MC books, but only in the best way! You have two alpha males, Fremont and Noel. Fremont is a scientist sent to an Indian reservation to check the levels of uranium and falsify the results to suit his boss. Meanwhile Father Noel is there to offer comfort and guidance to those on the reservation slowly dying horrible deaths due to radiation poisoning. Father Noel and Fremont meet and come together to get the reservation clean and help those living there. This book does contain violence, hot sex, and a great plot! I definitely recommend this one!

Started with a dream!
Irish Episcopalian Father Noel Maloney, checkered past, bike riding Man of Religion, wants to help the natives. Fremont, Jewish, bisexual , Man of science, hired by the big evil that wants to make moola off of what’s killing the natives.
Until tribesmen, Bent Zerlots M.C., troubled teens and a hot Irish priest will convince Fremont of what the real reason they were expecting their hero.
Galileo, boy you never know what will come out of his mouth when he talks. Dark, humor, truth or something just fudged up.

Fremont came to the Rez to scout out uranium. What he found was a group suffering from the effects of the land. He also found a priest who he was attracted to. Noel was a priest doing his spiritual duty while hiding his love of men. Two people brought together for a mission who end of finding out a lot about themselves. I enjoyed their story. I also enjoyed the continuing story about the reservation that was continuing from prior books in the series

I read the first book of this series a while back and loved it, reading this one made me remember just how much. Now I am questioning why I never picked up the others.....one clicking them all now. This was great book that has two of my fave genres together, M/M and MC. Layla has written an exceptional group of characters and seeing the club expand and that each member slowly gets a HEA, well that has me hooked. Cannot wait to catch up with what I missed and then anxiously await the next!

He found what he had been sent to find but when he find the father things begin to change. It was causing so many problems for those living around the mines. Meeting the father puts everything in a better way for him. They push each other buttons. What will they do? Can things improve for them? See where this will go
