Ghostly Encounters #2

Ghostly Interlude

Rate this book
Maggie Russell—legal assistant by day, horror writer by night—gets the scare of her life when she wakes up in a strange café without any idea of how she got there. But if she tells anyone about her sleepwalking escapades, she could lose her grandmother’s house, and she’d fought so hard to keep it.

Dean Parker is a private investigator whose office is next door to Maggie’s law firm. He’s been eyeing the pretty brunette ever since she started working there, but getting involved with anyone isn’t in his game plan. When he finds out she’s been having sleeping problems, he suspects her money-grubbing cousin is involved. Instead, he discovers something worse: a ghost is living with Maggie and it appears another may be possessing her.

Dean is determined to help Maggie rid her home of the uninvited guests. He just never figured his attraction to her would be reciprocated. Keeping his distance is no longer an option, though. If he fails, Maggie could very well be possessed forever.

I loved where this story started. Dean, the private investigator that we met in the first story, and Maggie, a horror writer that sleepwalks. It only gets better from there as the author helps us unravel the mystery of why Maggie is sleepwalking, introduces us to more ghosts and characters, and some steamy, slow burn romance. Dean is smitten with Maggie, but he’s got some b a g g a g e he needs to deal with! I really enjoyed getting a peak into our previous couple, Rob & Bridget, who are now pregnant and deeply, happily in love. If you like a little ghost story with your romantic suspense stories, I think you’ll enjoy these books. I’m hoping the author has another, but happy non-the-less.

This is book 2 in the Ghostly Encounters Book. I loved this book from beginning to end. Maggie Russell doesn’t know why she’s so tired. She finds out from PI Dean Parker who doesn’t tell her
right away but after a tragic accident in his life he can see, and talk to ghosts.
It gets really interesting when there’s a ghost in the house where Maggie and her cousin Erica live in.
The fun as just begun.

A must read if you like ghost books..

My first book by Ms. McKitrick and won’t be my last.

Stacy McKitrick’s book, Ghostly Interlude, is one of “those” books. You know. The kind you can’t put down. I had to keep reading, reading, reading. The author just kept throwing in twists and new little gems. Yes, this is a ghost story, but so much more. As the abilities of the characters are slowly revealed, their ability to see ghosts, to…well, I don’t want to spoil it, but readers will be pleasantly surprised. There was also mystery, mayhem, and murder in the book, and of course, a romance. Sure, you know they’re going to get together at the end, but goodness, I often had my doubts and wondered just how in the world it was going to happen. Although this is the second book in a series, and I have not read the first one, I had no problems understanding what was going on. Definitely a "stand alone" book, although it might be fun to read the two books in order. I highly recommend this book.

This is the second book by Stacy McKitrick in the Ghostly Encounters series. This book revolves around Dean and Maggie but Bridget and Rob feature quite a lot as well.

Maggie works in the office next door to Dean and they both have an attraction to each other. Maggie enlists Dean's help with a Ghost that is haunting her home but Maggie is one of the fortunate/unfortunate persons that Ghosts can possess. Her Aunt Lindy can't move on and Dean is the go-between who can see Lindy and has to find a way for her not to possess Maggie for Lindy's own purposes. Add into the story Maggie's cousin Eddie, his mother Gina and the house that was left to Maggie by her Grandmother which Aunt Gina is trying to get into to search for something of value and you have a book with lots of secrets and intrigue as well as a love story developing between Maggie and Dean.

I purchased the first book Ghostly Liaison and read it first so that I could get a good grasp on the characters but it is not necessary to do this but I would recommend you do as they are both good reads.

Thanks to Netgalley and Mythical Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Received a copy via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review......

I really wanted to give this book a higher rating but it was a really struggle to actually get through the entire book. I thought when i read the summary that it would be an interesting book and though the storyline is an interesting concept it was written in such a way that the story dragged on forever. I think that the author had great intentions but fell flat when trying to construct the story for readers. Don’t get me wrong this book is good but i think it had the potential to be great ....

I received a copy of Ghostly Interlude by Stacy McKitrick from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I was intrigued by the summary and really wanted to like this novel, but it was a chore at times to keep reading. The plot could have been pulled together better - more linear and less mystery shoehorned in - and the characters developed better. There were flashes of real goodness, but then the story would get bogged down.

I would try reading another book by Stacy McKitrick to see if a future novel would improve in pacing and character development, but I wouldn't recommend this novel.

This is one of the best books that I've read in 2017. It's a smart, intriguing mystery, and I could not put this book down until I finished it.
