This time, the vampires are out for more than just blood.

Abbey Beckett is the Nightstalker: London’s kick-ass caretaker and the scourge of the pointy-toothed.

So far she’s been doing a bang up job of combating her nemeses, the Judas Clan... at least until they captured her boyfriend and turned him into one of their own.

Now, in a bitter twist of fate, the Nightstalker must deal with her partner transforming into the one thing she was put on Earth to destroy.

But when Abbey meets a mysterious stranger who gives her some fresh insights into the Judas Clan’s motives, she’s forced to ask herself a question: is her boyfriend really cursed, or have the Clan actually given him a gift?

It isn’t long before Abbey finds herself asking whether her enemies are really the force of evil that her holy handlers have taught her to kill. Is it possible that the angels have been lying to her, because if you can’t trust an angel, who can you trust?

Adventure, scares, and fast-paced action collide in this thrilling urban fantasy series. Read Turned now for a pulse-pounding vampire slayer story you cannot put down. Take Buffy, add a dash of British snark, and you have Turned.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I loved this page-turner and already cant wait for the next book!

Twists, turns, surprises, shocks, and mayhem abound as Abby attempts to do right by the mantle of Nightstalker. This installment has her racing against the clock and fighting her own instincts to find a cure for her boyfriend-turned-vampire, Neil.

I enjoyed watching Abby take control and start to really own her gifted powers while on her quest. The main and supporting characters were very well done, believable, and true to form in their actions/reactions. The story picked up right where Sanctified ended and flowed smoothly into previously uncharted waters of intrigue and awesomeness.

Seriously, this series is a must-read for paranormal, or Uncanny, fans the world over. It has action, romance, attitude, action, vampires, action, puzzles and, of course, action. I strongly recommend reading these books!!

Abbey Beckett returns in the second installment to the Branded series of the Uncanny Kingdom Universe. Abby is the Nightstalker. Think Buffy with a little less direction, and angels (real angels) on her side. When we last saw her, Abby was dealing with the fact that she was just learning how to use her powers, and her vampire enemies had turned her boyfriend. Not the best first few days at work. Now Abby is on an exhausting mission to find a cure for her boyfriend's curse, all the while questioning whether or not she is playing for the right side. Are the angels really good, and are the vampires really bad? This one is a page turner that will leave you wanting the next installment NOW!

“...if you can’t trust an angel, who can you trust?”

David Bussell’s Turned: An Uncanny Kingdom Urban Fantasy (second in his Branded series) is a one-sitting book. That’s not a statement of length. It’s a statement of addictiveness. I simply couldn’t put it down and ended up reading until after 4am - with my alarm going off at 6am for work. Not a fun workday at all, but still worth it as the book is just that good.

So welcome back Abbey Beckett, you kick-a** Nightstalker protector of London, to an adventure that will challenge everything you believe and are. Don’t worry folks, Abbey is up to the challenge and will figure things out - and we get the (great) fun of following along.

Highly recommended.

Abbey is understandably panicked when the boyfriend she just rescued from vampires turns out to be a vampire too; especially since they'd just had victory sex the night before and he wakes up hungry for her blood. The only thing she can think of to do is drag him to the angels who have been telling her, more or less, how to be the Nightstalker, defender of humans from the vampire race.

What follows is nonstop action as she races against time and solicits help from magicians and even other vampires all over London, falling by instinct into the only course that will keep Neil with her.

An awful lot of claret gets spilled, so if that is not your cup of tea, even Abbey's championship sass levels may not tide you through this mayhem. But then, you have gotten this far, haven't you?

Neil, beloved by Abbey (AKA Nightstalker), has been turned into a bloodthirsty Nosferatu trying to tear out her jugular. And there's no cure for him. At least until her fallen angel handlers, Viz and Gen, get a recipe from God. In order to cure him, she needs, among other difficult-to-obtain ingredients, Pope blood. Then she needs a powerful magician to put it all together before Neil is completely turned. But when Abbey gets 'involved' with a very 'friendly' vampire, who she comes to trust, she doesn't know who to trust - a vampire or the angels. We find out who are the good guys at the smashing, slashing conclusion… But wait! There's more! It's to be continued...

Another great story for the Uncanny Universe. It made me laugh and groan through the whole thing. Never quite knew what was going to happen next. The best kind of book! It totally made me question who were the good guys and bad guys. Plus a guest appearance form another Uncanny story shows up just to cause confusion. And laughter. A well written book 2 that is even better then book 1 that is full of action, funny scenes, twists, and crazy people it made it a great story to read. I loved Abbey and Neil.

Disappointing

I really liked the first book and other books by this author but this book really irritated me. The plot twists were so obvious that I almost stopped reading twice because I was so annoyed by the heroine's idiocy and bad choices. That said the author generally has a really good voice so I shall suspend total judgement until the 3rd book.

I really enjoyed this book. Filled with the usual humour and wittiness that I’ve come to associate with all these books that are part if the Uncanny Kingdom. There were plenty of twists in this tale, and the overall storyline was one that kept me intrigued.

Is there really a cure

This is a fast paced story about our reluctant hunter madly searching for a cure for the vampire curse and finding out that there are a lot of gray areas mixed in with right and wrong in this new world in which she finds herself.

So, book two in the series and Abbey is learning more and more about her powers. This series is getting very interesting that’s for sure. Roll on book three. Highly recommended.

Having your boyfriend turned isn't a bonus for Abbey so there's only one answer!
This book was so much fun to read. Abbey is so normal in most regards, easy to relate to, that it makes it even more exciting when her Nightstalker side takes over.
Awesome second book.

What a follow-up to Sanctified this Turned out to be (excuse the pun!). I was looking forward to finding out how Abbey was going to deal with Neil's turning and she certainly is given the runaround trying to find a cure. She is on a tight timescale and the action is non-stop and relentless. She is confused by her new friends and meeting a seemingly kind, handsome man does nothing to alleviate her worries about their intentions. We also meet a character familiar from another Uncanny Kingdom series, London Coven, and that was a source of delight because he is such an enigma and any glimpse of him is very welcome.
Abbey is becoming stronger and more confident in her new role as the Nightstalker and her actions seem completely in harmony with what we know of her character so far. The whole story gels beautifully, picking up right where Sanctified finished, and the characters leap fully formed off the page. I love the interaction between Abbey and Gen - definitely frenemies, at least for now.
Abbey has to fight to the end of the story to help Neil and it seems that everything she has done will be in vain but you'll have to read this fantastic book to find out. In fact, spoil yourself and read all the Uncanny Kingdom books.
