I like it. I liked it more as I read it. And, after completing my reading of Unification I really like it.

The author is a skillful enough writer. I think he should expect for Unification to grow on the reading public over time and that he shouldn't be discouraged if it doesn't go viral over night or even in a few years. After all, Lewis's That Hideous Strength was uniformly rejected by the critics but is still being read today over 60 years later as part of his much loved Space Trilogy. I expect success and influence will be found in the long run.

I think this is a book for open minded readers, especially ones interested in New Age spirituality, such as the the work of the late Wayne Dyer. Or to someone interested in the literature that has contributed to the development of the current discipline of Positive Psychology (that focuses upon what contributes to human happiness and well-being instead of the old emphasis on the diseases of the mind), or, for readers looking for something to believe in. I doubt it will appeal to most evangelical Christians.

I wish I had kept the author`s text message offering me a complimentary copy of the book. My memory is that he described it as being about a world-changing spirituality, yoga, meditation, martial arts, and higher consciousness. I accepted a copy because I am interested in all but one of those subjects (martial arts-I`m just not that guy). But primarily, I wanted to see if he had any actionable ideas that will get us from where we are now--materially, psychologically and spiritually--to bring about what he calls Unification. The idea that spirituality requires each of us to be plugged into each other, and nature, as well as a Higher Spiritual Power is very attractive to me. Over the past two years, my attraction to the idea has lead me to study the writings of the Inkling, Owen Barfield. So, I wanted to see how this idea was developed in McCall`s book.

The theme is there. In some ways Unification reminds me of Barfield's 1929 novel English People that shows a group of siblings, each finds his and her way of manifesting a mystical spirituality in each ones's individual life. Like in Unification there are many passages in which a character or the narrator explains the principles of spirituality at issue. For a philosophical exploration of Barfield's version of our interconnectedness with each other, nature, and to other spirits I recommend his 1950s book Saving the Appearances. Having read and reread lots of Owen Barfield I think he would have agreed with much or possibly all that McCall wrote about in Unification. That is something coming from a Barfield scholar.

In a way Unification reminds me of Walt Whitman`s 1861, 3rd edition of Leaves of Grass. Whitman printed the lines of the poems with scriptural verse numbers in the hope that it would be accepted as a new religious text for America that would cause men to love each other enough that the Civil War would be prevented.--We know that didn't work out. But the comparison is that McCall has an equally daunting goal and desperately wants his book to inspire change that will save us from our selves. Incidentally, later editions of Leaves of Grass did not include line/verse numbering. Despite Leaves of Grass not being accepted as a new scriptural text, as Whitman hoped, Leaves of Grass became something else by the time of the last, Death Bed edition, and is a bedrock of American literature. It contains something of what McCall calls Unification. And, arguably, the continuing influence of Leaves of Grass may be contributing that idea to our evolution of consciousness, as Barfield termed it. My hope is that Unification will compliment the works of writers such as Barfield, Whitman, and others, in a way that will result in the world healing Unification described by McCall. To iterate, we have to expect the long view in evaluating the book Unification and its ideas.

Unification: Love, Adventure & Awakening Found in the Mystical Expansion is a new age story of mind expansion and awakening and explores the concept of The Unification: the process of this enlightenment.

Set in changing timelines from ancient eras to 2035, the novel provides an adventure story that selects individuals who are products of rich cultural backgrounds who are on the path of solving greater mysteries than those of their worlds, and provides thought-provoking accounts of spiritual and psychic change.

Crisp, clear, and precise are the journeys of protagonists and connections between past, present, and future. The sense of self represented in conversations, explorations, and interpersonal reflections, along with a metaphysical and spiritual focus, binds the changing events and characters using powerful connections.

From scientific research to why humans always wind up in trouble when they try to pair spiritual objectives with fast or profitable outcomes, these protagonists investigate self-healing research, unrealized potential, and the nature of truth, reality, and innocence in present and past worlds.

Of necessity there's a lot of dialogue, philosophy, and spiritual reflection along the way; so readers anticipating a light new age read should likely look elsewhere. Though the story line is alluring and engrossing, Unification is anything but (and is not intended as) a light read, offering the rare opportunity to absorb spiritual concepts in a pairing of fictional mystical and physical journeys.

Unification is a recommendation for new age readers who would receive a novel that holds not just entertainment value, but virtually commands a self-inspection and reflection process through a slow read of eye-opening concepts and wisdom.

Unification is cover-to-cover brilliance. Author Bridges McCall doesn’t just enlighten readers with his powerful spiritual and social messages; he takes readers on a series of awe inspiring adventures that use a broad range of messengers to make his point: the well-being of society is in direct proportion to the spiritual well-being of its people.

Despite religious teachings to love our neighbors, we have become enslaved by our own self will and human egos. Over time, mankind has taken the perfect world God created and filled it with human greed, prejudices, inequality and hate as well as addictive behavior. Unification is a genius compilation of wisdom, entertainment and humor that delves into raising spiritual consciousness and thereby elevating the quality of society. Unlike traditional spiritual books, Unification can not only change the reader; it can change the world.

This inspirational novel is one of the best books I have ever read. The adventures were fun to explore yet absorbing the ideas in their entirety was nearly impossible. Unification is a narrative maze addressing spiritual healing, self-exploration, divine existence, ancient history, telepathic maneuvers, mythology and a journey with a new friend Kana and his psychedelic mushrooms.

Unification is not merely a book, but an invitation to a movement. Bridges McCall offers readers the awareness of limitless possibilities here on earth while finding divine alignment. He provides a possible solution to feeding the poor, uplifting society, and promoting universal care; thereby enabling unity within all cultures. In truth, it presents an ingenious and detailed solution to solving the world’s problems while taking its characters and readers to a deeper spiritual level.
