“One of my most rewarding jobs was finding unwanted animals their forever homes.”
A writing career was the last item listed on her bucket list, until she discovered that she wanted to put her stories on paper and breathe life into her characters. Her love for Scotland, curiosity of history, and passion for romance has inspired her to write her first book, Highland Burn.
“Fourteenth century Scotland was a fascinating time in history. Not only was Scotland fighting for their freedom from the English king, their own people fought each other; clan vs clan. Though being a woman of the twenty-first century, I wouldn’t want to live in those unsettled times. But writing historical fiction paranormal romance allows me to escape into their world and breathe a fresh air of romance and magic into that era, which I love to do.”

This is the first book of this genre I’ve read by Victoria Zak, the second in the series. I love wolves (they are my one of favorite shifters), but I haven’t read anything historical in years. This book reminded me that I really used to love this style.
I really enjoyed Adaira and Rafe’s story. It definitely left me wanting to learn more about the world of the fae. I actually read this one before Beautiful Darkness. But I enjoyed it enough that I went back and read that one. Looking forward to Wicked Darkness, the final book of the trilogy.
This is the second book in the Daughters of highland darkness series . Adaira Keith is out to help clear her sister of murder charges . When she is attacked by a demon fae and wanders into camp that also her love is located . Rafe Madok is in love with Adaira but is also gave a pledge to bring the keith sisters in. Will Rafe keep his love safe or will his bond keep him from the love that is his . The author writes some fantastic characters . Rafe and Adaira are no exception . Adaira is a strong woman who will do anything for her sisters. I love her and the way she doesn't let Rafe get away with anything. Rafe is hot and sexy and you know he loves Adaira but the oath he has been living with . He is the kind of guy you want in your corner . The author takes us on a journey of adventure . It has everything from demons to fae and vampires . The story is well written and you will fall in love with all the characters . This story continues with the Keith sisters who are Fae Vampires. Adaira Keith is trying to clear her sister Leana of murder charges. She's on her way to Dornoch when she's attacked by a Fae Demon sent by the evil Fae Queen. Adaira has been poisoned by the Fae Demon and left for dead but manages to come across a camp. It happens that Rafe Madok is there. They are in love with each other and Adaira happens to be his mate. However, he's sworn to capture the Keith sisters for the murder of Laird's son who Rafe has sworn fealty to. His position is put in peril for trying to keep Adaira safe and keep his oath to the Laird. What's a warrior to do? Read for yourselves and find out. This is such an intriguing, suspenseful, action packed story with such strong characters. I highly recommend this book.
Uncaged Review: The second book in this series hits right on target. Leana Keith is accused of murdering the Laird’s son. Adaira is trying to find her sister and clear her name, and at the same time Rafe’s wolf pack is ordered to find them and bring them in for justice. But Rafe only wants to protect Adaira, will his pack turn on him when they find out that he’s been protecting her? And let’s not forget about the dark fae.
The author does a great job, blending historical with the paranormal and it really works. I liked and enjoyed the first novel in this trilogy several months ago, but I loved this one. The strength and determination of Adaira and the loyalty and love from Rafe gives the reader something to rant about. I’m looking forward to part three. Reviewed by Cyrene
Victoria Zak you have done it again! I am truly very pleased with this book❤❤ Adaira and Rafe are amazing and I could not ask for a better beginning, middle, and end to this book it is COMPLETELY ASTOUNDING & AMAZING! Adaira has always stood tall with Rafe by her side and in this book it's a turning point for Rafe he has to make the decision on what he wants to do and also Adaira and how she needs to get her sister's back to where they belong and get the FAE Queen off their back! I truly look forward to the Final book in this trilogy "WICKED DARKNESS!"
Deadly Darkness is book 2 in the Daughters of Highland Darkness series. This series centers around three sisters that made a blood promise to the unsealie queen when they were young in order to kill their very abusive father. After 10 years if doing the cruel queens biding they escaped. Adaira is on the run from not only the fae queen but also the honor guard. The Honor Guard is a pack of wolf shifters that serve Laird Cormag. Race is the Alpha of the wolf pack and in love with the one woman he is hunting.
This book is a twisted tale of three sisters, who are fighting for freedom from the evil fae queen. now the author does a great job of dragging you into the story. so that you can not help but read this in one sitting and keeps you entertained till the very end!
you have some bloody spots, some super hot romantic ones also. A Simple flash back towards the first book, which is a nice visit. Then your back into the thick of it with this book. It is a stand alone but has parts that twist into the first book.
Second book in this series as we learn more about Adaira who was one of the sisters who was cursed. The second book picks right up where the first left off. We get to learn more about Adaira and Rafe who is a werewolf and one of the honor guard sent to bring the sisters back to be killed by the clan. She was a strong character and the story had a great flow. I found Rafe a likeable character and they had great chemistry. More action and some sexy time. Although we await the third book to see what happens to the third sister and the fight against the fae this story had a great ending.
This is the second book in the Daughters of Highland Darkness trilogy and is focuses on Adaira and Rafe, the wolf shifter commander of the guard ordered to hunt and arrest her and her sisters, this is a fast paced absolutely wonderful story, Rare and Adaira fall in love and, poor Rafe has the dilemma of protecting her or bringing her in, which will win, grab a copy and find out.
I received a copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion
By Victoria Zac (Daighters of Highland Darkness Trilogy 2)
A sisters unbreakable loyalty that is what this book is all about.
Left for dead by the evil queens dark servant, Adaira is lucky enough to be found by Rafe, a wolf shifter who is not only supposed to be hunting her, but is in love with her as well. He threatens her sanity, indomitable heart, and all that she is.
A commander's unshakable love. Ordered to capture the Keith sisters, Rafe Madok, commander of the Honor Guard, must turn over the woman he loves to face justice. It may sound easy, but it's not.
They both must follow their hearts and by secretly protecting the Keith sisters at the same time that he's expected to capture them, Rafe's position within his pack is on jeopardy to say the least. Adaira must clear her sisters name and defy the man she loves by asking Rafe to take her to the very Laird who ordered her arrest. Can Rafe abide by Adira's wishes? Will Rafe chose duty over love? Is it possible that Adira can protect her sister and openly love Rafe at the same time? Or will everything including them be destroyed after they have worked so hard to protect it all?
Wow Victoria Zac is incredible. This is the second book in the series and I'm on pins and needles waiting for the third. This book has everything you could ever want. Fae, vampires, and wolf shifters. Put those together and you can't go wrong. Ms. Zak you are an incredibly gifted writer who knows exactly what readers want. I loved this book from start to finish and if I could rain down hundreds of stars I would, but they will only let me give you 5 so that will have to suffice.
Deadly Darkness is the exciting second book in the Daughters of Highland Darkness series. This time our heroine sister finds love with a wolf shifter. Ariana is a wonderful heroine. She is independent and compassionate. And I loved that her wolf identifies her as Queen of my heart. beautiful and suspenseful plot.
As the eldest sister takes her rightful place as Laird of her clan, the nearer the three sisters get to destroying the Unseelie Queen. Fun and entertaining with a good deal of excitement.
Deadly Darkness is the second story in the Daughter of Highland Darkness Trilogy. Adaira Keith is searching for her sister and to find a way to clear her of murder. Rafe Madok is leading the hunt for the Keith sisters on order of the Laird. He is also a wolf shifter. He saves Adaira’s life when she is poisoned by one of the Fae Queen’s Demons. Rafe and Adaira love each other; in fact, they are mates. Will they be able to reconcile their love for each other and Rafe’s mission to capture her and her sisters? Is it even possible?
This is an adventure from start to finish. As expected from Victoria Zak, the characters are strong and complex. Rafe and Adaira are great together. The complicated storyline moves fast and is packed full of excitement, danger, twists, and surprises – one big one at the end. Don’t miss this one.
