Ok, so not a "fun" book - it is well-written, thorough and extremely useful for understanding the Social Security system, including Medicare. Recommend it for anyone approaching retirement - or interested in ensuring its survival for the next generation.

I'm a financial planner, who was required to read this book as part of a master's program. Having read countless other sources, attended private sessions and taken courses specifically on social security, I would say this is the best resource I've come across.

This book is easy enough to read for the average consumer and contains enough great information to further educate financial professionals.

Highly recommended.

Comprehensive

I will definitely have to refer to this book in a few years. There is so much involved in social security and Medicare that I am positive I will not even remember a fourth of what I read and it probably will change by the time I retire, but will keep current and pay much more attention from here on.

Good book with a lot of information on two subjects that I knew little about: Medicare and Social Security. Rather more detail than I need, but that's the good part about a reference book, it has material that I might need in the future and can always go back and pick up the parts that I didn't need now. It is hard to imagine needing another book on Social Security and Medicare. Recommended.
