David Grann’s Killers of the Flower Moon is a New York Times bestseller and National Book Award, Finalist. This is a chapter-by-chapter summary and study guide. It includes Study Questions, a List of Important Characters, and a Timeline to help guide you through the tragic story of the Osage Indians.
The Osage Indians were some of the wealthiest people in the United States during the 1920’s. These Indians enjoyed luxuries that many could not afford because they received a share of the oil money that was produced on their land. But then wealthy Osage Indians were found murdered and there were other suspicious deaths. After 24 deaths, local officials had not solved a single murder. Several of the deaths occurred in one family. Mollie Burkhart was the only one of four siblings who lived. But a priest received word that she feared she was being killed. That is when the Bureau of Investigation under Tom White stepped in to investigate and solve the mystery of the murdered Osage Indians
mr Scorsese traumatized me a bit with his long ass movie and i wanted to read more about the story as condensed as possible, because i wanted to be spared of the tiny little details. mr Scorsese, you have been vibe checked and it is safe to say that you did a good job, too good of a job even. you have tried to capture as much as possible, but i think the story should have been portrayed as this summary of Killers of the Flower Moon - very neat and onto the point. my ass still hurts from not being able to stand on my feet for 3 and a half hours. i guess you can say that I am bitter, and I am
Excellent book. The author gave very detailed descriptions of what happened. He did a great deal of research and it shows. I am horrified that this happened and isn't well known today. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys True Crime or history.
Yet another sad chapter in the history of Native Americans. Riveting and thought provoking. I'm glad to no longer be ignorant of this "Reign of Terror". I'm also encouraged by the those characters of high moral standards, red and white, and even more supportive of investigative journalism.
