Cabrina Roberts flew to Las Vegas to have a face to face conversation and get a possible lead on her friend, Aisha Miller’s disappearance. What she finds instead is Gabriel Neary, codename Buckeye, a CIA Agent that is too handsome for his own good. Add in two free tickets to a hypnotist show, a bottle of cheap champagne and the pair wakes up the next morning to find themselves married. Throw in a road trip to Georgia, loads of laughs, and a couple who are simply too perfect for each other to ignore, Buckeye and his babe, begin a not so traditional romance across the miles.

Cabrina is determined to find her missing friend Aisha, and the trail is leading her to Las Vegas. There she finds Gabriel, who promises her the answers she's been searching for as long as she shares an evening with him. Gabriel and Cabrina never imagined that one evening could lead to so many adventures and possibly a lifetime of love. Cabrina and Gabe are an unlikely pair that seem to be just perfect for each other. These two set off on a journey to find Cabrina's friend end up find themselves and what they have been missing in their lives. This is not your love at first site story, but a story of getting to know and like themselves that eventually leads to them loving each other. I really liked these two together, as they seemed to both be looking for the same thing out of life. It was sweet how they first fell in like and admiration that led to a strong bond which led to love. I only had a few issues with the story, like the reunion between Cabrina and Aisha didn't quite sit well with me but luckily that wasn't the main focus of the story. My other issue was that I felt the story kind of ended abruptly for me. I looking for something more between Cabrina and Gabe to tie up the story and instead got Cabrina and her mom. Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed Buckeye and the Babe and look forward to the next installment in the Modern Mail Order Bride series.
I wasn’t much impressed with Gabriel from the other stories but oh how he became my favorite in this latest installment of Neary magic. I was glad Cambrina was a fast learner and made the decision to live. Now for Bleu and Ms. Thang!! Thanks for the great stories Ms Gaines.
By getting married on the first day they met each other, they no longer suffered from aloneness. This is something people don't normally do but to Cabrina and Gabriel, it felt right. Their car trip from one end of the country to Georgia, they learned about each other and fell in love. If what they felt in four days just showed them what their life together would be in ten years, wonderful. With their marriage , they both felt excited about life. Before, they were just existing, now they felt alive. The aloneness was gone.
Cabrina was determined to find her best sister friend Aisha/ Tameka. Finally seeing her after almost a year, she realized that Tameka's life experiences in the months prior, she was no longer the person she was before she left, and the reasons why she left. Cabrina was at a crossroads in her life that she was no longer the same person either and did not know if she liked the new Tameka. The Aisha she knew, no longer existed.
Gabriel Neary felt that it Cabrina Robinson searched with unabashed passion for her friend for a year, he felt that as a husband she would have his back if he got into an uncertain situation. She would not give up on him either. She was now a preacher's wife. The wife of Pastor Gabriel Neary. He did not have a pulpit to preach from but felt that his calling was for a wider arena in life, but he did have an unconventional congregation.
I just loved Gabriel's character. He was a very sweet man, who seemed to know what people needed before they did. He exuded a quiet strength until pushed. He was very loving and giving to everyone he knew. Despite this, he had a keen instinct for when things just did not seem right. Cabrina needs to learn to listen to his instincts. Regardless of her stubbornness, he vowed to give her his heart and all that it contained. Cabrina, in turn, promised his mother she would not just take care of his heart and body but his soul as well.
I just love Olivia's way with words. She always writes her stories with some comic relief that feels so natural. Her description of Paunch and Judy, even though it was a very serious subject matter about stalking, was just hilarious. Cabina's father's reaction to their marriage was expected, I was not surprised by it. His reaction was hinted to along the way in the story. I can't wait to read about DaShondra and Isaiah' s story. That girl is a whirlwind that blew Isaiah's mind. I can't wait to read how bad it gets blown in the next book "Bleu, Grass an Bourbon". I just loved this story. It was very entertaining.
Another great story by Olivia Gaines! If you enjoyed "A Rainy Night in Georgia" then this book of up for you! !
This is the love story of Gabriel and Cabrina. Gabe is the second Neary brother that finds love in an unconventional way. Gabe and Sabrina meet while she is searching for her missing friend Aisha. Gabe intercepts her to prevent Cabrina from exposing the truth about Aisha and Zeke. They find themselves attracted to one another and act on it in a special way - they get married!! What happens next is one fantastic adventure after another fantastic adventure. These adventures bring them closer together and allows both of them to discover who they are.
Cabrina also just face the truth about her friendships and her life. Gabe finds clarity and peace in the arms of Cabrina. This tale will incite laughter, tears, sadness, joy, and some intrigue. It is well written with a few typos but nothing that kick you out of the story. Buy this book and lose yourself as Gabe and Cabrina travel across the country.
The Modern Mail Order Bride Series just gets better and better! With her usual thought provoking and comedic humor, Olivia Gaines takes Gabriel Neary and Cabrina Roberts on the journey of a lifetime; with the reader along for the ride. Submerged in espionage and the world of pedophilia and religious cults, Gabriel has yet to find that balance between work and personal life until he meets Cabrina Roberts. Initially trying to keep Cabrina from spoiling his brother Zeke and sister-in-law’s cover, Gabriel can’t resist the force of nature named Cabrina Roberts. Sassy, smart and a dash of self-righteousness, Cabrina discovers life doesn’t revolve around her. With dread and fear of the worst, she sets out looking for her best friend/sister Aisha who’s been missing for over a year. Along the way she finds her soulmate and yen to her yang in Gabriel Neary. Together they rescue each other from the in-between and dark hold of aloneness!
I was pretty disappointed in Cabrina. She behaved like a child too many times in the book. How she was willing to just stop being in her friend life that she had known for 20+ years just because her friend changed due to a traumatic event. She had no understanding. She lacked decorum the way she looked down her nose to despite her face toward her friend and her friends home. Deshondra didn't even make an attempt to go visit Tameka to insure she was okay. Cabrina irritated me to no end. Gabe was so patient, so understanding and loved her although she was a whiny, sheltered, egotistical, shallow, overly dramatic, judgemental human being. Her parents said Tameka was their child but I saw no effort in them reaching out to see her, connect with their "granddaughter." I gave the book a four because of that damn Cabrina. I was happy when was slapped by Tameka and put in her place by Sharon
… and more then I expected. I believe this is the 6th book in the series. This is a continuous from the last book. None of the books really bleed over until this book, although the mail order /hook up relationship company used by the men to find brides is the same in all the books.
This book left me feeling good and bad. I love the characters and the storyline… for the most part… but some of this book was a stretch for me… in some chapters not believing this is what the author had to offer. I really like her work. She’s one of my current favorites in this genre…but this whack-a-doodle craziness… I don’t know. I do love the guy in this relationship is a minister, and works for the CIA. So much potential there but, didn’t care for the lack of steamy love in this story. Pretty sterile. LOL… on to the next book in the series, which is another continuous of this family story.
LOL!!! Wow..what a trip this turned out to be. I was immediately ticked off at the instant wedding. I was like.. "Please no..not so fast" But I had to remember that there was an fast, consuming, nearly "magical connection between Gabe, Cabrina, Bleu & DeShondra at the end of A Rainy Night In Georgia. I never thought Gabe would settle down so that was a shocker and the changing dynamics between all of the players in these stories grabbed my attention and filled me with the usual rollercoaster of emotions from laughing out loud to cringing in disgust and tearing up. There's such depth to these characters and I love them. A very well thought out and written tale that draws you in and never lets go. Ms. Gaines does it again! Well bloody done!!👏
This is the next part of the story involving the Neary brothers, the women they married and the love all of them found including their wives. As with the other mail order bride books I read featuring the Nearys, some areas were laugh out loud funny. Others were wipe your eyes sad and still others were thank You Jesus for Your sacrifice grateful for how the characters loved and looked out for others. There was even an "Oh Hell Naw" or two with the two swingers hell bent on making our hero Gabe and our heroine Cabrina their latest conquest. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and look forward to the next one coming down the pike. Thank you Mrs. Gaines for some very pleasurable reading experiences.
Cabrina Robinson just wanted to make sure that her friend was okay, and Gabriel Neary apparently had all the answers. A quickie wedding and a cross-country road trip changes both of their lives for the better.
I think I’d call this section of Gaines’ Modern Mail Order Brides series The Neary Brothers trilogy. It does a good amount of world-building, and is technically simultaneous. I like it thought because all three couples are, in their own way, unique, although there is a fault in here that I’d have to talk about at a later date.
Speaking of faults, while there are some very minor mistakes - very glaring one is Mrs. Robinson’s first name being Courtney at several points and Constance at other. As a Courtnee myself, I have never been aware of it being a nickname for Constance.
That being said, I thought this one was a good read. Spending so much time in this series really showed me the growth in Gaines writing, and I really appreciate how well done this series is.
When I tell you I laughed til I cried reading this book I am not exaggerating. Olivia Gaines never disappoints with combining lots of humor with her romance. Gabe and Cabrina meet in Las Vegas while Cabrina is hunting for her missing best friend (who happens to be newly married to Gabe's brother). The couple embarks on a cross country road trip to see the newlyweds and their journey is full of laughs. There were moments when I wasn't sure I liked Cabrina, as she was a little snooty, but trust, she learns the errors of her ways real quick. Kudos for including one of my favorite Arizona eating spots, Oregano's.
A Very Good and Exciting Interracial Romantic Comedy
Buckeye and the Babe (Modern Mail Order Bride Book 6) is a very good and exciting interracial romantic comedy that earned a rating of four stars. I enjoyed reading this book about Gabriel and Cobrina romance as she marries Gabriel the first night they met in Vagas. I was very humorous and adventurous as the couple traveled across country to see her friend and her new family. I would recommend this book to everyone who enjoys reading very good interracial romantic comedy.
I really enjoyed Buckeye in the Babe I love how he put her and checked more than once. I also like the fact that she didn’t judge the women who came for Sunday service, and I have to admit I totally went in the gutter with that, until I continue to read the story, and I love the way you played it out, that was to cute. And I love how Gabe’s boss gave her a codename, And she’s willing to help Gail in anyway that she can. I cannot wait for Bleu’s story with DaShondra!
This is a marvelous story it's everything you will enjoy reading. The characters are believable with emotions that will have you turning page after page. Their chemistry is so unforgettable, I really enjoy reading a story that makes me laugh and want to shed a tear or two. Each couple is unique with lots of charisma. I only had one wish and that is to read the Mann story. But this is a awesome series to binge on you will not want to stop reading all three books.
OMG!!! Okay Cabby was judgement and prudish. The fight between her and Tameka was long over due and a sure Tameka felt better afterwards. Same needed his moment he was trying to be brave for his wife he couldn't tell her he was scared shirtless but he voiced his concern and Gabe I like his characters did what he does with ease. Glad Cabby stood up to her father and made her own decisions to live her life the way she wants. Sounds like it will be interesting.
Cabrina and Gabriel were a sold match. This story was funny, interesting and maddening at times. I get why Cadrina was the way she was and I can understand why Tameika felt the way she did; however, hitting Sabrina was NOT necessary. To me Tameika always wanted to do that. Me...I would have laid sister-girl OUT for hitting me like that. And yes, torn the whole place up.
This was a very good read, the struggles one can over come when you have strong living people to love, comfort and protect you, without wanting something in return,I've read a rainy night in Georgia, Buckeye and the Babe and I am looking forward too Bluegrass and Bourbon I know it's going to be great. To the Arthur I enjoy you books please keep them coming.
This was another good addition to the Modern Mail Order Brides Series. For this one, I read it out of order. I hesitated over the series, so I went back and took a chance. Olivia Gaines' unique approach to Americana gets to me every time. She makes me laugh as she introduces her own spin on characters who are different and relatable at the same time. I enjoyed this book. Bravo!
You have to read On a rainy night in Georgia, before reading this one. Cabrina, friend of Tameka, and Gabriel, brother to Zeke, meet and marry in Vegas. Roadtrip to GA, which sounded like fun until they meet a nasty, nasty couple. Cabrina is not quite as nice and supportive as she seems and once your meet her dad, you really understanding. I liked to learn more about their story as it feels unfinished.
Buckeye and the Babe is my favorite Neary brother story. When Aisha Miller disappears in Georgia, her friends are frantic. Cabrina Roberts heads to Las Vegas to get a lead on her whereabouts. She ends up with Gabriel Neary, ex CIA agent and person of interest---well the brother of a person of interest. They embark on a rollicking journey that includes spirituality, stalkers and steam! All good fun.
Paunch and Judy was a piece of work. Their part of the story had me in tears of laughter. Gabe and Cabrina reaction...priceless. I was a little disappointed when Gabriel didn't tell his parents about Cabrina. But you know in the end Gabriel redeemed himself. I am dying to know how Bleu story comes along.
Loved Gabriel and Cabrina’s story. This was a very sweet and funny book. I love this family. It was good to see Zeke and Tameka as well as the others again. I cannot wait for Blue’s story. I would absolutely recommend this book to everyone who enjoy reading a cute funny love story. Thank you Olivia please keep them coming.
I cried, laughed out loud, was talking to the characters, and tell in love all over again with this chapter in the series. If you haven't read any of the books by Ms. Gaines you should start. Here is as good a place as any, but I suggest you read them all. I enjoy being a Bibliophile. Great writing for Awesome readers. Join us, you won't regret it.
This book had me in my feelings. Angry feelings. I really liked Cabrina until she met back up with Tameka and then I too wanted to slap her! I didn’t think her character could be redeemed after that, but by the end (thanks to Gabe) she was beginning to grow on me again. Looking forward to DeShonda’s story.
I loved Gabe, couldn't get into Cabrina, they is just something missing in her personality that couldn't bring me along. Aisha/Tameka was right; I can now see how she needed to get away. The overall storyline was very interesting and Me Gaines never disappoints with the humor. I guess we'll see in follow on books of Sabrina gains more likeability.
I am so happy to have disco weed Olivia Gaines. Her writing reflects real people, with real emotions, trials, growth, and interactions. This instalment in the seriesa made me crack up with Judy and Paunch in a horrific and cringed way but it was funny nonetheless! That moment between Cantina and Tameka was a a real as it gets. Damn. On to the next book!
Excellent Read! The best one of the modern day brides are my opinion. Gabriel and Cabrina are hot and cute and a match made in Heaven. I really enjoyed this Neary brother as well as Bleu and his penchant for bourbon. Looking forward to the other bride stories.
I can’t imagine being NOT hypnotized by the slow burn chemistry of this couple. A theologian and a sinning saint crosses Ms. independence Etsy princess have meetings of minds and baggage to lay down as they travel to start a new life. Funny at times, inspiring for romantic readers, is a highlight in the mail order bride series.
