Innocent Eyes

"If he's gross, I'm bailing."
That's what I said to my supposed best friend when she asked me to take her place. A blind date, she said. What harm could it do?
He was charming. Beautiful. God's finest creation. He wined me and dined me. Made me do things I'd never before dreamt of in the bedroom. It was perfect. Dangerous. Arousing.
But Jenny didn’t tell me the full story. She didn’t tell me about the debt she owed. And now Quinn Cane wants his money's worth, and he’s going to make me pay whatever way he can.

“A debt needs to be paid.”
The woman who came to meet me didn’t owe me money. I could tell by her innocent eyes. Still, the debt will be paid either way.
She was something to play with and use as I saw fit, but something about Emily Brooks made me want to keep her. So she became my dirty girl. Pure. Innocent. Mine.
Then she whispered my damned name and invaded my world, changing its reasoning.
She wasn’t meant to break the rules. But she rolled my dice and won.

Shame. Forgiveness. Dark. Erotic. Romance.

This book is intended for mature audiences. 18+ only.

Hailing from the depths of the quiet British countryside, Charlotte likes nothing better than sinking into her characters dark and devious world's. Sometimes they're kinky, sometimes they're twisted, and sometimes they're a serious hold on tight situation, but her stories are always filled with romance and love in some form.

"Life is a torrent of differences, different needs and wants, and it doesn't always end that well. Yet we strive to find our countering balance, hopeful for a happy every after. "

Oh, my goodness not sure where to start with this fantastic piece of fiction.
There is just so much I want to say here and trying to get it all out in a cohesive manner, well oh boy here we go taking a deep breath.
So first I should say I am a massive fan of Charlotte Hart's work and cannot say enough good things about her dark dominant scribblings, they always hit that sweet spot with me and even when she takes me to places I'm not sure I want to venture it's a journey that I can't help but appreciate with that great big shove outside my comfort zone.
Rachel De Lune I am a newcomer to, but I was super excited to see what the collaboration between these two popular authors would bring to the table.
And hey Ho this trip through Quinn Cane's kingdom along with the poor innocent Emily was delicious.
It was Blood and Tears, Fire and Thorns but also Rainbows and roses, if that even makes any sense.
I guess what I'm trying to say is Innocent Eyes goes through a whole kaleidoscope of emotions and while this is definitely not a pretty as a picture love story it also kind of is.
What makes this so deep is the true darkness and depravity of Quinn Cane's decadent nature and how he corrupts his dirty girl Emily.
It's the beacon that manages to bleed through to the darkness.
Emily's light that helps to cleanse some of the blackness that is Quinn's tarnished soul while his Dark nature in return paints hers in shades of grey, kind of a meeting in the middle of there true natures.
A merging if you will, each giving the other something they need.
Emily, the corruption Quinn brings to the table to oust the rot from her life, strengthening her natural nature.
While Quinn benefits greatly from Emily's guiding light, tempering him kind of his conscience.
So, There were times here I absolutely hated Quinn with a passion.
His take what you want selfish attitude basically like a kid with a new toy he wants to break, then put back together, damn the repercussions.
His world, his rules.
In the beginning, Quinn's actions were truly reprehensible and it was difficult to see how he was going to redeem himself.
I also do understand how he has grown into the individual he has become, doesn't stop me wanting to brain him know.
Emily herself, she was stronger than she thought, I loved her naive optimism for life.
Also at the same time, I wanted her to grow a backbone, and stand up for herself.
I was still totally rooting for her all the way as whatever was thrown at her she dealt with like a trooper.
You couldn't help but like the girl.
I found myself amazed at her resilience and ability to see the best in people.
The side characters here were few, but what we did have were so diverse a definite mixed bunch of very different individuals.
Some I especially loved to hate and I am so glad they got the rewards that their shitty actions brought.
We reap what we sow in life and Karma's a bitch.
Except in the case of Quinn, I'm giving him a free pass on account of his repentance and just because I can he he.
Seriously though he did do a 360 in regards to his emotions and overall attitude so I'm feeling the love at this moment in time.
So this story was jam-packed full of everything, it was a rollercoaster journey of every emotion imaginable and I adored every minute of it.
I do so love me a HEA, even better when its a bitter fight till the finish.
Fingers crossed these two talented authors pair up again as this worked in every way and flowed together seamlessly.
I would never have guessed this was a collaboration.
So A really big shiny endorsement here from my camp.
Cannot recommend this enough.
Give it a go, you won't be able to put it down.
So glad to have received an ARC of "Innocent Eyes" from the Author's of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

DNF @ 28%.

The H ties the h to a chair and leaves her in a room for hours where he forces her to watch horrific videos of a woman being gang-raped. The h ends up vomiting and urinating on herself. The H eventually checks on her and is disgusted with what she did. Then h actually APOLOGIZES to him for the mess she made. Not "why the hell are you doing this to me" but actually apologizes!! I am so disgusted!! Yuck!

Will not rate as I couldn’t finish.
I love dark books but I couldn’t relate to the heroine and her “betraying body” after everything he did to her. Too much Stockholm syndrome too quickly but that’s just my personal feelings.

This was a DNF for me. I forced - yes forced - myself to get to 20% and some of this included skipping parts. I just found the actual writing style hard to read. For me it felt too wordy and didn't flow. There was just too much nothing, with a first sex scene that I quite simply didn't believe in. All in all the part I read was very unemotional and wooden.

I also quite frankly don't believe that debts were paid by repeatedly raping/gang banging the wives of the man who owed the debt. This didn't make it dark, it made it bizarre and distasteful.

Innocent Eyes was a fantastic dark novel that came out of nowhere for me. Both these authors (Charlotte E Hart and Rachel De Lune) are new to me authors but I honestly am on my way to look up their back catalogs asap. This novel was deliciously dark and decadent. It was also equally sexy and shocking and I honestly could not get enough. Quinn and Emily were so raw and provocative and their connection and attraction was intense and amazing!!

When dangerous and sexy Quinn Cane decides to use Emily Brooks as a means to pay off a debt he never would have expected his emotional boundaries to be crossed like they were. I loved that Emily was a breath of fresh air for him and she was his reason to change the way his family did business. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel. I was shocked and surprised but so addicted it's not even funny. I loved that despite the reason they came together, Quinn and Emily's chemistry and connection were pretty apparent.

All in all this was fantastic and I can't wait to read more from these authors in the future! Bravo! 4 stars! ~Ratula

The first date was interesting with both of them there instead of other people. But man it got bad. He was a disgusting rapist. And he hated what had happened to his mum but continued doing it for years??? And then at the end his brother was a psycho but he was annoyed he was dead but was also anti-rape all of a sudden like he didn’t get off on those awful videos and force her too. Let’s not forget he scared her enough to make her piss herself. Why do people think any of this is romantic or entertaining?? Nope.

The blurb of this one drew me in and had me counting the hours until I could wrap myself around the promising sensual words of Rachel De Lune and the darker thoughts of Charlotte Hart. This author pairing was brilliant and brought out the true essence of each character. Each author stayed true to their past and wrote a beautiful story together. I’m sure they each took away something different from this experience, but I can only hope that they loved it enough to do it again. I want to see more from the world of Quinn Cane and Emily Brooks.

Quinn is so dark and depraved, but right from his first meeting with Emily, something started to eat away at him, made him question his life and his methods, gave us hope that he could become worthy of the sweet and innocent Emily. It was a long road and he probably didn’t deserve any of Emily’s love after all the hell he put her through, but Emily could also see the man inside of Quinn. The one that was clawing its way out, trying to better itself, be better than his father.

Through no fault of her own, except perhaps her naiveté and dreams of romance, Emily Brooks finds herself locked away in an unknown place for unknown reasons. Her perfect date filled with perfect sex has gone very awry and has left her head spinning with questions. Quinn had stolen her heart on that date, had shown her a side of him that she soon came to find out was not a side he showed anyone.

Innocent Eyes was a very dark one, but it was filled with the promise of something better. I loved Quinn and felt hope for him. He had a hard, outer crust but he had his reasons. He showed himself to be a protective, loving and loyal man, one who was worthy of being loved but was it too late for him and Emily. Had he pulled that final straw on Emily, the straw that broke everything and took away her innocent eyes? Could he possibly earn her forgiveness after destroying her life and pushing her away? Would he have to do the unthinkable and learn to survive in a world without her love?

I highly recommend this book. It has moments of darkness, but the light outweighs the dark. Quinn has met the perfect match in Emily and watching him soften, watching their journey to each other, watching everything they endure was its own kind of fairy tale in the making.

Five brilliant stars!

This fabulous duo has NAILED the dark and deliciousness my soul constantly craves!

Emily and Quinn's chemistry is crazy! So they didn't meet or come together under normal circumstances. But what's normal? Emily is my kinda heroine. Although somewhat innocent, she's strong as hell. she manages to stay in Quinn's head even when he's the ultimate cold and ruthless alpha caveman. Her strength is not physical but more mental and emotional. Quinn may know the game but Emily penned the book and the rules!

Hart and De Lune combined their individual talents to create a story where darkness met light and both were conquered! I'm not big on romance, but the darkness Quinn brings not only make the notion palatable but exciting!

Phenomenal read! 5 stars!

Disclaimer: This review is MY PERSONAL OPINION of Innocent Eyes. My personal opinion should have zero influence with your reading experience. Quinn and Emily's journey is NOT wine and chocolate. It's dark, it's gritty, its FABULOUS! Read and devour at your own risk!

I went to bed last night to read a few chapters and ended up staying up way past my bedtime to read it all. Quinn Cane wouldn’t let me go. He sucked me right in.

When Emily goes on a blind date as a favour for her friend she doesn’t realise how much her life is going to change. Although she’s an innocent, loyal friend it’s fortunate that she’s a strong character as she’s gonna need it.

Quinn is the head of his Cane family. He’s ruthless and heartless. He doesn’t care for many people. When he meets Quinn under some different kinda circumstances he realises he wants her. As Quinn doesn’t do normal he takes rather than woes her. I absolutely loved these two together. They fight hard but can Emily find the true Quinn under all the walls he’s built.

These two authors wrote a well written gripping read. I found myself totally gripped in this story.

Be warned this story veers on the dark side:) I’m really looking forward to reading more from these authors as I loved this story.

My blind date was gorgeous, beautiful and charming. I met him at a great restaurant, great food & wine and the dessert afterwards was to die for. He made me do things I have never done before and called me his dirty girl, at each other all night, I fell asleep in his arms, it was the perfect blind date, until I woke up in another country and strap to a chair in a dungeon for hours.

My friend Jenny set me up on a blind date or so I thought. She was setting me up cause she owed the mafia $100 thousands pounds for a gambling debt n I was the prize to pay off that debt.

Quinn Cane came from Chicago to London to check on a debt that hadn't been paid. The girl before me didn't owe me, I can tell by her innocent eyes but a debt must be paid one way or another. Canes take what they want and now that I had her, I have to have her, so I drugged Emily and took her to my family home in Chicago where I will continue to use her.

Innocent Eyes by Charlotte E Hart and Rachel De Lune is the story of Quinn Cane and Emily Brooks.
Quinn is a hard man who by the roll of a dice decides what he gonna do with a person. Quinn feels nothing towards anyone really...other than a soft spot for his mother. Emily is a caring person who is mainly working at her Photography business. When her best friends starts acting funny and needing money Emily still tries to help her...even go on a date that Jenny was suppose to go on. But not to long after going to said date Emily finds out that it wasn't a date and Jenny owes Quinn money. Quinn takes Emily even though he knows she didn't know what was going on and Jenny set her up. There is something about Emily that Quinn can't yet walk away from.
This is a dark romance with things that might be a trigger for some...so beware.

personally, i can't remember if i've read a book in the past by either authors until Innocent Eyes, and quite honestly, by the time i started reading this book and got to chapter 3, i didn't care. It was the kind of book that when you start it, you don't expect much of it because it doesn't scream out 'watch out for the bad guy because you'll regret it'. It slowly shows you who Quinn and Emily are, the type of people they are, and yet, you know there's something between them once they meet for the first time.

You'd think that Quinn would change his ways with everything he's admitted (yeah, yeah, i know, how naive of me!!), and when he doesn't, it just takes it one step further... i couldn't look away and for certain i was more than curious to find out how Emily would get out of it all. Considering it was my first taste by either author, i'll say that it was a hit and for certain i'll be keeping my eyes open for both to find out exactly what they'll have to deliver to their readers in the future.

“Nothing is innocent here. Nothing has been for so long.”

I loved the way it started. A guy is threatening and pointing a gun at our hero - Quinn, while he's casually, without a care in the world, scrolling through his phone, not bothering to even look up.

That immediately caught my attention and made me curious to keep going. That start set a nice mood for the story. Well, not "nice", exactly. But the right mood.
“Nothing about this is soft. There’s nothing nice here, regardless of the gentlemanly appearance I gave her tonight. Nothing gentle or tender. It’s hard and fast. Calculated and cold.”

The story was dark, and that's exactly what I was after. In terms of plot and execution - I'm more than satisfied. The writing was also great. In terms of characters, however, I'm divided.
I like the hero. Quinn wasn't a nice man, and he never pretended or tried to be. He's the result of his upbringing and he knows it and he makes the best of it.
Now, the heroine, on the other hand, was definitely not made for his world. Emily has hearts in her eyes and always tries to see the best in people. She completely disregards her instincts and refuses to see the truth. She found herself in an insanely dangerous situation, put there because of someone she stupidly trusted, and yet, it was like she refused to see what was in front of her. She constantly tried to humanize Quinn and justify his actions, which only confused both Quinn and me. It's like she put the blinds on and that frustrated the hell out of me. I mean, he dragged and kidnaped her, flew her to a different country and almost forced her into a gangbang, but all Emily thought about was how she was gonna introduce him to her parents.
I can't even here.
If you forget about the heroine's stupidity, I did enjoyed seeing her go though these experiences and getting tougher.
Overall, I quite liked what I read. Granted, I wanted to see a more concrete punishment for Jenny, but the fact that Emily agreed to any punishment at all was big.
If there's going to be some sort of follow up, maybe with Quinn's brother, I'd gladly read it.

This book is not for the faint of heart! It is a dark place with a HEA, but just wow from beginning to end.
Emily Brooks is a photographer in London who gets set up on a blind date in place of her friend/employee Jenny. What she gets is dark and dangerous Quinn Cane, who wants to collect on a debt owed by Jenny. He knows Jenny doesn’t have the money but he will still make her pay.
Quinn sees a beautiful lady with Innocent Eyes but is quickly informed that this is not Jenny. He still wants to use Emily under the guise of a debt to be paid because he sees something in her that makes him want the pure girl and nor one of his high priced “escorts”.
What happens next must be experienced and dissected by the reader, but I was enthralled by the courage of the regular girl in a horrible situation.
Emily starts as an Innocent who must really pull strength from within herself after the roller coaster of emotions from her current situation. She somehow lets attraction and chemistry rule her soul is instead of hating Quinn, or running!
Quinn lives his life by the roll of his ever present dice. Will he leave their fates to a roll of those dice?
I adore both authors and hope Charlotte E Hart and Rachel De Lune collaborate again! 5 hot and dark ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book is everything!

As a fan of both authors, picking up this bad boy was a no brainer for me. I was not disappointed. Instead, the styles of the different authors combined to create a story that was, at once, dark yet romantic, gritty yet sweet, and always, always sexy as hell.

Everything about this book was a win for me. The characters were intriguing and kept you guessing right up to the dramatic climax that I won’t ruin by oversharing here.

The heroine, Emily, was strong and capable—my favourite kind—and kept the hero, Quinn, on his toes throughout the story. Even when he thought he was in control of the situation, she was in his head.

He was an enigmatic mix of cold and ruthless, and subtly sweet and caring. His attitude towards somebody could change on the roll of the dice he constantly carried.

Emily is an innocent who finds herself thrust into a world she has no experience or knowledge of. What follows is a steaming hot, at times thrilling and disturbing tale that will leave you utterly satisfied by the time you turn the last page. For me, this is the best work by both authors so far, and that is saying something!

I hope to see more from this awesome pairing!

Hart De Lune.
It was meant to be. Like Little and Large, The 2 Ronnies, Hinge and Bracket, Chip and Dale...The list is endless, but you get my point I'm sure.

I was so excited when these 2 fabulous authors announced they were pairing up. 2 of my favourites, joining forces, mixing the dark and steamy with the goodness and light. It could not be more perfect.

That distinction between their styles is one of the highlights of this book. Charlotte's depravity and dominance perfectly opposes Rachel's more sensual nature and brings the 2 characters to life, really emphasising their traits.
But it has also done the authors a world of good within themselves. As a fan of both authors, I can see how this collaboration has brought something new to both of them and I really hope we see more of them together in the future!

This book was a real joy to read, from the first word to the last, I was swept in their world and carried along in the story and the way their love blossomed through even the darkest of situations.

A definite must read!

Innocent Eyes is a new Standalone hot and sexy romance.

I love Innocent Eyes written by co-writers Charlotte E. Hart (who is new to me) and Rachel De Lune (whom I read several of her books and I am a big fan of).

Innocent Eyes is Quinn Cane and Emily Brooks story. Emily had a friend Jenny (the kind of friend that who needs enemies if you have a friend like her) Jenny threw Emily to the wolves. Asked her to go on a blind date with a man that she owed a lot of money to.

Things went well on the date at least Emily thought so. Quinn decided that Emily would pay that debt and be his “dirty girl” and there is so much more to this story!

Now how did these 2 authors get together? Charlotte E. Hart is a Dark Erotic Suspense/Romance author and Rachel De Lune does write “emotionally driven erotic romances and she loves her HEA’s. The story is seamlessly written by these 2 authors. Oh and did I say Charlotte E. Hart writes Dark Romances.... I think I may have found another author to follow!
I enjoyed Innocent Eyes and give it 4 stars.

~ ‘My intentions may have been fucked up in the beginning. I saw you as something I could take and enjoy. But you’re right, things changed.’ He reaches into his pocket and pulls out those two cubes that seem to govern so many of his decisions. ‘That’s why I gave you the choice. That’s why you got to roll the dice.’ ~

The story of Quinn and Emily is a story wrenched with moments of complete and utter disbelief, anger, angst and turmoil. I found myself either loving Quinn or completely despising him. Emily owned my heart from the very beginning and by the end I had a new found respect for her fierce loyalty and growth. In the very end, I grew to love Quinn too and forgive him for some of the unforgivable.

I truly enjoyed this book. These two are refreshingly wonderful writers. Simple but poignant. Subtle but powerful.

I will never look at dice the same way 🎲🎲.

Thank you.

I really enjoyed this kidnapping story more than I even thought I would. Emily is living her dream starting her new business but has a somewhat toxic relationship with her BFF. Quinn is straight up gangster and when he's owed a debt...he doesn't let that just pass. I couldn't believe how straight up disrespectful Jenny treats Emily. Definitely not like a true best friend would. Even though Quinn is jaded and hardened, I was somewhat surprised that he would take Emily as payment for Jenny's debt. What??? But I liked the way their interactions evolved and I loved Quinn's protective stance toward his family. Nate was starting to worm his way into my heart. Josh really was a piece of spoiled work. This story had nice suspense and some steamy scenes. Just what I like.

5 Stars of Cane deliciousness!!
Holy hell!!! There were times I didn’t want to keep reading for fear of what I’d face next on the emotional train. This was a story for serious suspense and raw sexual energy junkies. But it was so GOOD!!! Quinn Cane does not disappoint. He takes what he wants and honors debts-payments with the roll of the dice. His unwritten code is slowly unraveled when Emily enters his world unknowingly. The two become a force all their own as they navigate what it must mean to be Cane. Damn I loved this book!!!
Thank you both, Rachel DeLune and Charlotte Hart, for the ARC for an honest review. Bring it on I’m there to read your words anytime...

I am a newbie reader when it comes to Charlotte E. Hart and Rachel De Lune but I must say I was blown away by Innocent Eyes. It kept me captivated from the start and had me questioning everything at every turn.

Quinn is a ruthless mobster. A gangster as Emily would say. When Quinn meets Emily, he is expecting to meet Jenny, the woman who has racked up a hundred grand in gambling debt. Emily being the awesome friend she is, lets Jenny talk her into taking her place for this meeting. Emily has no idea what she’s getting into by helping her friend nor does Quinn when he meets Emily.

I was literally on the edge of my seat while reading, Innocent Eyes. Quinn is such a hot head that his mood changes from one moment to the next and you never know what he is going to do. When it comes to Emily, he has he reasons for “making” her work off the debt her friend made. Emily makes him a different person and for Quinn that is hard for him to deal with. Their chemistry though is off the charts! The sex is hot for sure.

If you love page turners then Innocent Eyes is for you. There are some triggers and if you cannot handle it, do not read it. It is very explicit in areas so be warned.

What a rollercoaster, this one. I came VERY, VERY close to a DNF at around 39%. Seriously close. I read a little bit further to find out what would happen, and ended up pushing through to the end. I'm still a little annoyed at how quickly Emily forgave Quinn, how quickly she became all about his physical advances after what he did to her, particularly at the casino. That was almost my breaking point. I felt some pretty strong hatred for Quinn right then. And, quite frankly, I hated Quinn for most of this book. She didn't actually do anything to Quinn, didn't truly owe him anything, and yet he treated her like garbage. He stole her from her life, causing irreparable damage since she was a small business owner, kept her captive, controlled her, terrorized her, forced her... he was not much of a prize for most of this book. Toward the end he seemed to have come around, but then he did something else that had my face in my hands in frustration. He seems a bit unhinged to me-- volatile, and unsafe. I'm not yet convinced that Quinn won't lose his mind and kill her at some point. There are two more books in the series, so I guess there is an available glimpse into future of this couple.

I ended up liking this book, but for a good portion of it I thought I would end up hating it. It was maddening, but it all ended up okay. I still don't love Quinn, and if I were Emily's friend I'd tell her to run as far and as fast as she could, but here we are.

Worth the wait

What can I say that hasn't already been said? This book captivated me from the first sentence, a book of the finest frivolity, reading the story unfold, you can see it in your own mind what you want it to become, but then you're blindsided, I couldn't put my kindle down, I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a erotic, lust filled book, I can't wait for part 2, Thank you Charlotte and Rachel,,,,,,, Philly 😁💟

I received an Arc for my honest review.

This is the first darker novel I have really given a chance and I'm absolutely satisfied that I gave it a chance. I loved this book, I loved the characters and I went through so many different emotions while reading this book.

I won't give too many spoilers but I'll say this, Emily (main character) is a good girl with a fantastic heart and genuinely a beautiful person all around. She goes on a blind date in place of her "friend" Jenny and winds up meeting Quinn Cane (main character). Jenny owes Cane a lot of money and cannot pay it. So he wants to collect his debt but realizes that Emily isn't Jenny. So, Emily and Cane have a nice first date, some spicy sex afterwards but then everything changes and Emily realizes pretty quickly that Jenny set her up.

Without going into too much detail, Cane turns out to not be the best person in the world but for some reason Emily is still drawn to him. He insists on Emily paying the debt that Jenny owes in anyway he sees fit, she hates him for it but still has feelings for him, no matter how awful he is treating her.

Emily seems to take down the walls he has built up over the years and gets through to him no matter how hard he tries to fight his own feelings. This book is dark but I really enjoyed it all the way from the first page to the last. I hope to read more about these two characters in the future.

All around, I would absolutely give this book 5 stars. I will definitely be reading more books by Charlotte and Rachel and am so happy that I gave something a bit different a chance. This is for sure a one-click book on Amazon, or worth the pre-order on any of the other retailers.

Quinn Cane is a self-assured man. He’s also a man who lacks sympathy. Emily Brooks has a unique business that more and more women are taking advantage of. These are two people that are hard to think of as being able to have any type of relationship.

The authors let you know that this is a dark erotic romance. You will definitely see the dark and most definitely the erotic but the romance is harder to see. It’s also very raw with graphic language. I don’t know if it’s sad or not but Quinn is a mean alpha male. He gives no excuses and expects respect at all times. But one thing he doesn’t seem to respect is women.

So if you have issues with that this book may not be for you. He’s a man who seems to live by a double standard. He cares deeply about one woman but doesn’t care about another. But this is one reason why you continue to read because you want to see if he’s redeemable. You also feel sorry and concerned about Emily. The question becomes how does a relationship come to be with a man as dark as Quinn. It’s a story that’s very psychological – expect your brain to be engaged. One thing you won’t be able to figure out is which author contributed to what. They make a great team and it also means they know what their readers are looking for. As I get toward the end, a pleasant surprise was seeing a friend of Emily’s. It made for a great ending and why it became a book you won’t be able to put down.

I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
