Monster-hunting isn’t for the weak. Good thing I’m not weak.
Former Army Sergeant Dana Kane knows the monsters she sees are real; they tried to kill her in Kuwait, and damn near succeeded. But Dana lived, acquiring a PTSD diagnosis and barely avoiding a medical discharge … and the attention of the Conclave, a secret group of Shamans who are keeping their eye on Dana to see where this new ability of hers will take her.
Now, back home in Detroit and working as a skip tracer, Dana pairs up with her former squad mate, the all-too-tempting Gabriel Broussard. Gabe’s a law student now, but he’s so much more; he sees what Dana sees and shows her the ropes, teaching her what she is and how to Hunt.
But when the same monster that almost killed Dana once before starts killing again, this time on her home turf, study time is over. Dana needs to come into her full power and defeat it before it destroys everything she holds dear—including her own sanity.
Dark, dramatic, and funny, First Sight is the first novel in the Motor Town Monsters series, and the premiere entry in an exciting and inventive new urban fantasy world: The Shaman States of America.
I picked this book on a whim and really enjoyed the storyline and how it flowed. Lots of secrets and as it was getting even better it ended. Can’t wait to find out what happens next
I received this for free in exchange for an honest review.
This novel had really good potential. I was excited to read it but, truthfully this was a disappointment. The pacing is really disjointed, there are tons of grammatical errors, and I felt really lost the first fourth of the novel. It's just not very well written and I had to force myself through it.
Dana Kane is strong, fierce, and funny. Every page kept me wondering what was happening on the next. This quick read will satisfy a reader's taste for adventure. Or in this instance....the hunt.
