Short Stories to make you laugh; Short Stories to make you cry... And sometimes makes you think. A collection of stories from people you meet in all walks of life.... their lives, their point of view.
Without any overarching theme or genre, I struggled to get into it. Though a few of the more mysterious and thrilling stories caught my eye, I felt many ended up being about nothing, and left me feeling the same. The language is at times exciting, but often overused and makes a habit of repeating itself. In the end, it wasn't for me.
Even though I have not yet finished this anthology of short stories I can say with confidence that it is an excellent volume. I can review it unfinished because I am both going to finish it, and can see from the story quality that there is something for everyone here.
I am better educated about India for having read the tales, especially the military gentleman in a successful arranged marriage... or is it successful from the perspective of both parties?
There is the lilt throughout of the special relationship India has with English. It adds character and value to the anthology

Update: the second half did not disappoint. It lived up to the promise of the first half
I really like this author, whose stories are full of very interesting characters. Examples are the wife who endures her husband singing in a traffic jam, a writer whose brother is convinced he's a criminal, and an army officer who is lucky to be happy in marriage. In short, there are all kinds, and there are lots of surprise endings, and the book takes you to India, which I consider a plus.
These stories are from all walks of life and types of people. I really enjoyed them all. My favorite was the locket. It was sad at first but the ending was great, and I loved the quote from the beginning. I highly recommend this book.
