You met her at the end of The Last War, but who is the archer? How did she come to save the McNamara’s from certain death/enslavement? Meet Indigo in her insane rise from obscure teen to the enigmatic archer in a new thriller, titled The Zero Hour: Indigo.
The Zero Hour: Indigo is action packed post-apocalyptic survival fiction at its finest. Not only do you get to know this badass huntress on day one of the fall of San Francisco, The Zero Hour: Indigo is a rip-roaring ride through hell, a wildly entertaining ride that sets up critical events set to take place in The Ophidian Horde.
This story is technically Book 1.5 in The Last War series. It can either be read after The Last War or after The Ophidian Horde.
‼️Perfection! Don’t miss out on this decades best series‼️ In a Post apocalyptic world you have two options. Either you change into what you have to, or you will without a doubt become a victim and perish. In this book we get to know the backstory of Indigo, who she was, and why she became what she had to. Its written in the supremely vivid style that is this authors hallmark. Since I am a avid fan of his writings, well knowing how skillfully the characters, surrounding environment and dialogue is portrayed. Its no miracle that I found this book to be brilliant. The way events, emotions and characters are portrayed, realistically vivid and dynamic, it never fails to captivate even the pickiest reader. The most amazing part: In an unprecedented way making you feel as if you really are there in what is happening. Books that convey their story so the reader can associate and relate is uncommon and a treat, but this is above and beyond that. It really makes you feel like you are there, that it is your reality as well, that your participating and living it. That I would say is an amazing achievement, especially when its a fairly short story like this. Even if your normally not into Post apocalyptic books, but loves books that are exceptional, this series is a must read. There are many more aspects to it, (beside the obvious that it draws you in) the emotions, the human psyche during duress, the will and mindset of a survivor. In a sense its like the first settlers struggling to survive in a hostile environment, but in the modern world, with where things are crumbling, instead of being constructed. This whole series is so exceptional it will without a doubt be one of the best you have ever read, assuming you have the wit not to miss out on this century’s best series as it emerges!
⏱ Sixty second, no spoiler summary Indigo’s dad heads out of town for work and leaves her home alone. While he’s gone, drones attack San Francisco and Indigo has to learn how to survive on her own. Thankfully she’s an excellent archer and not too bad with a gun either. Thugs are starting to cause trouble in her neighborhood and a nasty gang is forming. We follow Indigo from the start of the drone attack until she meets up with the McNamaras.
👍🏻Turn Ons Fast paced and great detail. I love the humor in these books and the voice is amazing.
👎🏻 Turn Offs I don’t think there was anything.
👵🏻 Safe to talk about with Grandma? No f-bombs, but mild other language with lots of carnage. TW of rape. If you don’t like descriptive fighting, skip this one.
⭐Rating ⭐ 5 stars! Short, but a great addition to the story. I love watching all of these characters come together. The drone attacks are still the driving force behind these books, but there is enough other story going on that the drones can stay in the background for now. Which helps move the story along.
Title & Author: The Zero Hour by Ryan Schow Format: Kindle (Kindle Unlimited) Read: 3/7/21-3/8/21 Rating: 5 stars
I just read this whole 6 book apocalyptic series. It is a great series and I am now waiting on the final book to see how it all ends. The books give us many different people in many different areas of the country and then brings them all together in an unbelievable, but believable way. There are some problems with syntax and a some words are in the wrong place and some are repeated. But I am not here to talk about editing, because the truth is it does not affect or detract from the story which I can not seem to put down.
I really have enjoyed all of schow's books. I love that the there are characters that have absolutely no clue as to what fighting is like but over time they learn what it is going take to rebuild society. Normal people put in I,possible situation My one complaint of the book is that they are Too many grammatical errors. More than one character says "I could care less" when the actual phrases is. "I couldn't care less", and there are a few times when I don't know who is supposed to be speaking or acting But as I said I really enjoy all of the series of books
So, the brought it all together going into the Horde. This is terminator on steroids. However, what keeps me glued to the pages is how fast humanity went down the toilet. This makes the punch lines so much believable. Trust me, the shit is going to go down real soon. This book details how how need a good squad to survive and let Tony Toughnuts do his thing as a solo artist. Highly recommended!
WOW! 2nd book read in the 7 books series and I am caught up the best series I have read in a very long time. Not since Hugh Howie and his Wool series have I been so mesmerized, losing site of my surroundings and getting lost, oh so beautifully lost in this saga. Can’t wait to read more. Thanks Ryan Schow.
This book gives us background on the character who came to the aid of the McNamara group sfter drones destroyed the helicopter they were trying to reach. Indigo knows what the gang is that is about to attack the McNamara group. She knows them firsthand just how brutal they are.
Fast-paced. I found the beginning difficult because I thought it would be a continuation of the same family but it was just the first few pages. It moves just as quickly and I think better. I like the main character, Indigo she has gumption and innocence that very quickly begins to disappear. Well worth reading.
I really enjoyed the change up on who’s telling the story in book 2. This continues to build the excitement and character development. I’m looking forward to book 3.
Beginning to end in one afternoon. I know, need to get a life, right? I have a good life, happily with an occasional afternoon to enjoy a good story like "The Zero Hour."
I enjoyed reading this book, love the characters, the plot line and the heroic efforts of the people surviving. I could not put the book down but I did finally after I finished it.look forward to reading more from this author.
A brilliant second book in this really well written & exciting apocalyptic series! A great continuation of the story with lots of action makes this a really fun read! I like the style & ideas & do hope to read more by this writer!
Excellent story about a young woman who is coming of age in a very bad time. She is smart and though and soon enough ruthless. Edge of your seat action.
