Isaiah Bradley, the first Captain America, nearly destroys a concentration camp singlehandedly!

Isaiah Bradley, wearing the costume as the first Captain America, is sent to destroy the concentration camp of Schwarzebitte single-handedly. He knows it is probably now a suicide mission, but he acts with ruthless efficiency, until he sees the horrors of Nazi experimentation, which combined with his own experiences of experimentation, drives him to a rage. He is captured by Nazis (who mock him as "Jesse Owens"), while in the present day, we see Steve Rogers being told the story for the first time . . .

If you saw the Falcon and the Winter Soldier Disney+ series, you may have some familiarity with Isaiah Bradley. The series is his origin story. Testing unproven science on soldiers, an unwillingness to treat black soldiers with the same dignity as white G.I.s, and the willingness of them to be heroic all the same. It feels a bit ham-fisted at times, but you get the point.

"Original" Cap vs. the Holocaust and then it ends on a framing device.

Fine.

We get to see Isaiah in all out action. Violent, aggressive, wearing the stars and stripes as he infiltrates Nazi Germany. Will he survive? Steve Rogers (present day) starts asking questions...

Excellent read

Excellent explanation for the way American people of color were treated, reminiscent of the Tuskegee experiments. A truly excellent read.
