My boss asked me out. He isn't just some ordinary guy, either. Far from it. World-famous billionaire Blade Harrington wants me-- me, a lowly intern-- on his arm at a Valentine's Day ball. He promised me it'll be the greatest evening I've ever had, complete with flowers, champagne, and a limo. But will it really be a romantic night... or the worst mistake of my life?
Meg Harris is a busy mom who spends her spare moments dreaming up worlds a little sexier than the one in which she drives kids around, runs to the grocery store, does endless loads of laundry, and scrubs the kitchen floor. Her chosen profession involves a great deal of time dedicated to imagining sweaty, gorgeous men in the throes of passion, as well as long hours spent poring over pictures of beautiful male chests in the pursuit of the perfect cover. It's a tough job, but she's willing to bear the hardships... all for her readers, of course!
Valentine’s Day could be considered as a day of magic, a time for fantasies and wishes to come true, and this story definitely captures that spirit really well. Set in today’s business environment, where the rich live in a reality that is totally separate and very different from the world their employees have to deal with, it tells the story of Val, newly hired and recently graduated, and Blade, the company’s all-powerful CEO. It is a modern-day fairy tale of the best kind, and I loved every moment!
ღ´¨)Valentine and the Billionaire. ¸.•´¸.•*´¨) ¸.•*¨) (¸.•´ (¸.•` ღ"So you’ll go to the ball, Cinderella?" He looked at me for a long moment, his eyes still burning with determination. And then he grinned. "Yes, Prince Charming. I'll go to the ball."
My first thought was harassment, no matter which way you look at it. And then I said, had I been Val, I think I too would have said yes, because, hell, I would have felt my job was on the line. Especially given that my BOSS had the capability to fire me. And since he is rich, yeah, trapped.
Second thought, I don't care much for millennial millionaires. Too entitled and have really not earned the rights despite the money. I don't know what was on Blade Harrington's mind when he actually asked an employee out...oh yeah, get me revenge against an ex who didn't deserve a second thought. Human Resource should have been all over this like white on rice.
Thirdly, OMG, Val was so innocent it hurt. I felt sorry for the life he led, and could understand why he went head first into this. And his thoughts on his and Blade's time together gutted me: "He was a billionaire and I was an intern. He was the prince and I was the scullery maid, and there wasn't a chance in the world that he'd want to see me again. There was no glass slipper in this version of the fairy tale. There was only the real world, and in the real world billionaires and interns didn’t wind up together. They just didn't."
But like all Cinderella stories, endings did happen happily. A saccharine cute holiday read.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author. Reviewed by Cee from Alpha Book Club
This short story really was a sweet, good read. I was pleasantly surprised that once I started reading it that I could not put it down nor did I want too. I have never read anything of Gem Frost's before but I will say that I am glad that I read this one and I will definitely read more by Gem in the future. Honestly this was such a good read that I wish it would have been longer.
Val is an intern. This is his first job since he has graduated college. So when he gets an email that tells him to be in the CEO's office at 2pm, Val is a little agitated and unsure of what he has done wrong. He is so nervous that when he finally gets to Blade's office he about passes out.
Unsure of what he has done wrong, Val nearly passed out again when Blade finally lets him in on why he wants to see him. Blade is in need of a date for the Valentines Galla that he has to attend. There is no way that he is going to go by himself. Especially since his ex, Roger is going to be there. Yes it may not be right to try and rub it in his face that he too ha moved on but Blade cannot seem to make himself care about that. So when the opportunity arised, Blade decides to ask the cute intern that he has not been able to get off his mind since he first seen him.
What will happen when Val learns that Blade only asked him out to get back at his ex? Will Val give Blade a chance or will he put an end to things immediately?
I truly enjoyed this book. My only complaint is I wish it had been longer because it was a good read in my opinion. I look forward to more books by Gem in the future.
Was given this galley copy for free for an open and honest review
A sweet Valentine romance where Cinderfella meets his Prince. Valentine (Val) is a lowly intern scanning old documents when the company CEO calls him to his office. Blade needs a date for the ball and revenge on his ex and Val is just the ticket. Will one night be enough?
Sweet valentine's story. Romantic and cute. Liked both MCs, especially Valentine. Only moan is that it was too short, and as such was lacking in character development.
