Nobody likes to lose anything; money, cars, a house, or precious time with children. The way humans are wired, we don’t really take any kind of loss well.
Divorce is not just a loss; it also signifies the end of a dream, of your plans, of a future you have carefully planned- this is the exact reason why it hurts as much as it does.
Suddenly, you have to change where you live, you have to let go of some things your own, and in some cases, you have to start working out custody arrangements with your partner.
It hurts to lose the life you’ve built.
So if you’re grieving, crying, feeling hopeless, or tired of moving on with life, it’s all normal to feel that way.
Though it is of little consolation, our expectations of such a union are changing. Many years ago, people used to get married for economic reasons. You had a partner for life for procreation and succession, for the strengthening the bonds between families and social status, and of course for companionship.
Today, we get into marital bonds, in most cases because it satisfies a source of happiness within ourselves as the other person holds us as the object of their attention and desire. We look for passion and a trusted friend, support in our endeavors, and emotional and spiritual bonding.
Unlike decades past, we no longer only break the promise of “till death do us part” because we are unhappy, but for the mere possibility that one might find more happiness with someone else. As the landscape of relationships and marriages changes, when there isn’t a clear-cut “Why?” we doubt our own self-worth and the merits of what we have to offer to a partner.
Although grieving is a normal and absolutely necessary piece of recovery, at a certain point, you have to pick yourself up and move on with your life- there are so many beautiful opportunities out there for you and as you’re about to learn in this book, divorce is not always a bad thing.

I found this book to be very helpful! It is a great starting guide to doing the work towards healing. I recommend you read with a notebook next to you to make the lists recommended and go through highlighting very important points of reference. I plan to review my notes again and keep reminding myself I had dreams and goals and most of all I AM Worthy!
The day I started reading this book was very traumatic and I felt empty. This book gave me courage to deal with my pain. This is a short read but encouraging, I will heal.
