Joelle liked boring, predictable, and safe. Though that kind of life left something lacking. But all that changed when Kivani walked through the door. He was exciting, unpredictable, wild, and scared Joelle, too. Joelle wanted to give his life a little shake, but Kivani is determined to turn Joelle's life upside down.
Kivani Davenport uprooted his life and moved to the city to be one of the Dark Knights. He also left his old life behind to get away from his cousin. Ethan has been a thorn in Kivani's side for nearly three hundred years, but when he shows up in town, Kivani fears for his mate's safety. Ethan is a Hunter, and he's set his sights on Joelle. Can Kivani save his mate from Ethan's twisted games, or will Ethan hand Joelle over to the new evil that has invaded the city?
[Siren The Lynn Hagen ManLove Erotic Alternative Paranormal Romance, shape-shifter, M/M, HEA]
Lynn Hagen loves writing about the somewhat flawed, but lovable. She also loves a hero who can see past all the rough edges to find the shining diamond of a beautiful heart.
You can find her on any given day curled up with her laptop and a cup of hot java, letting the next set of characters tell their story.
This volume in the series was a bit more fast paced. It definitely felt like I was dropped into the middle of the story more so than ever before. I loved Joelle’s character though. Nerdy hipster hairstylist finds love in the arms of his wolf mate and badass Dark Knight? I’ll take it any day! Could have used more explanations in some parts but overall a good read:) The plot, as always, thickens...
What really kept getting me confused in this? Our Dark Knight Kivoni (first name) and the new head honcho of bad guys Kovochi (last name)... I mean.. Effing really.. lets just have them similar enough that you kinda have to think about it?
So the bit about Kivoni's cousin seems a little weird.. I don't remember any other diluted paranormals being introduced. Cousin has enough blood for longevity but that's his only benefit. I would think that the shifter gene being passed onto kids guarantees shifterness regardless of the other parent. After all the gene is the important part but hey not my world or my rules but that don't hit me right.
As for Joelle... I'm not really sure. He's like, shy and comes across as afraid of his shadow but can be assertive at times.
Moving back to Ethan.. even thou they're cousins, I don't understand how Kivoni can turn a blind eye when finding out he's a hunter. Even if he was unable to take care of it personally he could have had someone else dispatch justice, or even try to redeem him if he felt that bad about letting his last bit of family die.
I totally loved this addition to the, Dark Knights, series. The story had a straight forward pace that kept it from dragging and becoming bogged down with tedious details. Joelle was so sweet and shy, so I'm glad that he was able to have a mate, Kivani. Yes, he could have been kinder to Joelle, but he was still very protective and caring. I wish I could read all of these at once since I like the Dark Knights so much. An entertaining, and amazing read.
Normally I like Lynn Hagen's characters but I really did not like Joelle. I thought he really brought the whole book down and kind of ruined a decent story.
