Civil war explodes as bestselling author Daniel Abraham continues his acclaimed adaptation of George R. R. Martin's fantasy masterpiece. News of Eddard Stark's arrest for treason has spread to Castle Black, where Jon Snow, now a member of the Night's Watch, finds that the onus of bastardy is nothing compared to being the son of an accused traitor. But that is the least of his problems. For the frozen corpses of two rangers, brought back for examination, prove lively enough to commit murder. Meanwhile, in Winterfell, Robb Stark calls his bannermen and marches south . . . though the wildling woman Osha argues that the real fight lies to the north, against the mysterious Others. But with Eddard and Sansa held hostage, Robb knows that only victory on the battlefield can save them. And so, together with his mother, Lady Catelyn, Robb prepares an audacious roll of the dice.

Moon of my live. Are you hurt?
Jorah the Andal, I heard what you did choose any horse you wish from my herd. It's yours.
I make this gift to you for what you did.
And to my son, the stallion who will mount the world, I will also pledge a gift.
I will give him the iron chair that his mothers father sat upon.
I will give The Lands of the Andals. I, Drogo, will do this.
I will take my khalasar west to where the world ends and ride wooden horses across the black salt sea as no khal has done before.
I will kill the men in iron suits and tear down their stone houses.
I will rape their women, take their children as slaves and bring their broken gods back to Vaes Dothrak. This I vow Drogo son of Bharbo.
I swear before the mother of mountains as the stars look down in witness! As the stars look down in witness!

George R.R. Martin, “A Game of Thrones: The Graphic Novel” {Adapted by Daniel Abraham; Art by Tommy Patterson} (NY: Bantam, 2014)

Issue#17

“Two of our brothers slaughtered within sight of the Wall, yet the rangers heard and saw NOTHING?” - Commander Mormont
...
“Not yet. I want Maester Aemon to have a look at them. Bring them back to the Wall.” - Commander Mormont. (Is this meant to be a joke? Aemon is blind!)

{Jon had no time be afraid}. (This speech caption is missing the word “to”).

{But the godswood was an island of peace in that seas of chaos. Bran had always liked the godswood, but of late he felt drawn to it. …
He felt safe in their sight, and the silence helped him think.}

First sights of the Others appear as wights attack the Wall. In Winterfell, the banners swear fealty to Robb, while Osha tells Bran of a greater danger north of the Wall. Across the Narrow Sea, they try to poison Daenarys, which enrages Drogo and makes him change his plans, he will not raid the lands of the East, but will rather turn West and invade Westeros.
