I named myself. I took the word animal out of their mouths, wore it like a badge of honor, then shoved it down their throats. I've fought for what I have. I see you coming before you even know you want a piece of me. In a city riddled with warring families, I'll rise up between them. My people, the broken souls I gather, will have power by the time I'm done with them.

I protect mine.

Him. My brother, Nix.

Her. The girl that is the only home I've ever had. She knows me.

I'm coming at you, sweetness. Stay ready.

Loved, loved, loved everything about this book! Animal's story growing up hurt so badly to read. Him and T were lucky to find one another when they did. She has to be one of my favorite heroines! Never backs down and is the complete assassin! I love her! I really enjoyed how even though you can read these stories separately ,they intertwined at different parts! Just knowing how Havoc got his name is incredible. To be able to withstand so much on their own Animal and T were a team that was destined to be. I wish they had a more than five star rating . Because this book is so much more!

Once again Debra has nailed it. Havoc was perfection.

So we all met Animal aka Havoc in Mercy, if you haven't read Mercy yet I recommend you do first.
Yes Havoc is a standalone but you will get a better understanding of the characters if you have read Mercy first.

This book is Animal and T's story. It's about their past and how they survived being homeless and how they became the people they are now. This book is action packed, will leave you speechless and takes you on a rollercoaster ride.
Blood makes you related but loyalty makes you family.
T is badass she only loves once. You mess with her people and you can be sure it's the last time she'll allow you to mess with anyone else.

I loved this book.

You know when you start a book and your heart just hangs out in your throat for the majority of it. The kind of book that makes your heart race and your blood pump thanks to the action, the emotions and intensity. Yeah. That's Havoc. It's heart wrenching and heartbreaking. You might want to punch the hero in the junk. You might also want to slap him on the back of the head and give him a big huge hug, and when you get to THAT PART--the one where you have to read frantically to get past it before your heart explodes in your chest--you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

I love this story. Just like MERCY it's unconventional and different, and such an incredibly special tale of loss, love and hope.

DNF @ 50%

Well, this was a HUGE disappointment.

description

I loved MERCY, and I loved Animal in that book, but in this one, he was god awful. One, this had to be the least romantic book I have ever read. T (the heroine) is in love with Animal; he doesn't feel the same way. OK fine, a little off when you are trying to get me to believe in a couple, but OK. I could have maybe got past that if this poor doormat of a girl didn't then hang around to protect Animal and watch him f-ck two, three, four other women at a time. ALL THE TIME. And, we the readers get the pleasure of reading pages of sex scenes with all these OW. At 50% in we are still being treated to him f-cking around right in front of the supposed heroine.

I really do enjoy this author's writing, but I can't...there is no way on gods green earth I will ever be able to connect to Animal and T as a couple...ever. C'est la vie.

I skim read the last 50%

I can't...I just can't. I am biting my fingertips off to refrain from posting what I really want to post about this one. Ugh...

Woooooow. WOW. 5 Stars for Havoc and T!

So of course we first met Animal in Nix's Book Mercy (Which BTW is definitely in my top 5 of all time) Animal seems like an easy going ladies man but there is so much that Debra Anastasia revels in the this story to make you love him so much more! Animal has spent his whole life protecting others, now T is here to protect him. T has somewhat of a trademark of "I only love once" and she loves Animal and does EVERYTHING to protect him and his family. She is a complete badass that is dealing with feelings that she is use to hiding. The villain in this book was somewhat unexpected, the story developed very well. About 50% of the way in I was thinking I really hope we get Embers books and at the end it said Embers book in coming in 2108 YAY! Thanks for another amazing read Debra Anastasia!

Countless scenes of him with ow even after h confessed she always loved him. He even slept with her enemy and that scene was VERY graphic! He only realised he loved h towards the end but by then his sex scenes with ow were too ingrained in my head to feel anything but contempt for them both! Nasty!

I love Debra Anastasia and I loved Animal as a character in the first book but as a hero... yikes. Maybe it's just me but I really hate when . I wanted to love this one as I really enjoyed 'Mercy', but this book wasn't for me.

The Hero: Animal (a.k.a. Havoc) - he is the best friend of Nix from Mercy. They were in foster care together and had been each other’s ride or die ever since. Animal knew Nix was screwed up but loved him anyway and wasn’t afraid to show how he always had Nix’s back. Animal is quite a ladies' man, he can charm a girl out of anything and is known to often bring home two or more at a time, but the girls never stayed the night. They knew the rules from the get-go.

The heroine: Talon (a.k.a. T) - she was also introduced in Mercy. She was a homeless girl who hung out with prostitutes and carried a gun. She took on a few dangerous jobs for Nix and Animal for cash and wasn’t afraid to use that gun when circumstances required.

The Story: I absolutely loved Animal in the first book and T was a nice surprise as well, she was tough and ready for action. Animal was loyal, supportive and always helpful. He was described as a tall, muscular guy who tends to be the biggest man in any room, and he looked after his friends and would jump in front of a bullet for any one of them.

In this book, we find that Animal has known T since middle school, where she was a thief and people made up rumors about her like she was a witch or homeless. She was a runner, who hated locked doors. She said she had a mother, so Animal never mentioned her to his social workers. Animal had his own problems at the time, with foster parents that spent their money on drugs. She was homeless and he was hungry, they had a connection even back then. T didnt talk much even then; she has always been quiet, but she was so fierce.

Like the first book, this one had some great supporting characters. We learned a lot more about Merc, the cop who helped Nix in book one. Merc also helped Animal quite a bit and had wanted to adopt him at one point, though his wife didn’t want to and when he threatened to divorce her, she threatened to ruin his career because he was having an affair (most likely with Nix’s mother, for which Ember was the result) and later the murder of Nix’s mother when his father found out Ember wasn’t his.

Though I had more problems with this book than the first. In the first book, I loved the fact that Becca was always the woman for Nix. I thought this would be the same since T and Animal had such a strong connection when they were younger, though even after they found each other again, Animal wasn’t in love with T and was still a huge player. I didn’t really like that, especially knowing that T had feelings for him. I almost stopped listening when there was a long steamy scene with him and another woman.

This book is told in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Rose Dioro and Benjamin Charles. I like Rose Dioro quite a bit. She has a kind of small, feminine voice that is very pleasant, and she shows emotion through her voice really well. I don’t think I had ever heard narration by Benjamin Charles before, his voice matched Animal very well, though I sometimes had trouble since he talked pretty fast, but when he smiled, you could hear it in his voice. And Zachary Webber chimed in as Nix, which was great.

I can not believe this! I was looking forward to hear story of Havoc. Somehow around second hour of the audiobook, I give up.

The time frame back and forth is very confusing. I have to listen carefully and guess the time frame is now or past. I do not have the patient to continue.

Havoc is the first book I’ve read by this author since 2012. I’m not sure why it’s taken me this long to read another book by this author because I remember loving her book, Poughkeepsie. When a friend suggested I read this book I didn’t hesitate.

Even though this book is supposed to be a standalone I went ahead and read some friends reviews of the previous book (Mercy) because the characters are in both books. It helped me get the backstory on them.

I’m a reader who likes my characters to be together and unfortunately, for me, that wasn’t the case for the majority of the book. The hero didn’t view the heroine as a love interest but more as a family member (like a sister). Also, I wasn’t a fan of reading a detailed sexual escapade he had with someone who was considered the enemy. Overall, I found I just couldn’t connect with the characters or get behind the journey these characters took to gain their love story.

Havoc is a standalone that exist in the same world as Mercy. This is a story of two people who had a hard start in life. One was in foster care and the other was basically homeless. Their childhood friendship held them together into adulthood where life became even messier for them.

Well, this book ruined Animal for me. In the first book, he's so cute and charming. He cares a lot for Nix and helps as much as he can. But in this book, he sleeps around constantly, even when he knows T cares for him and it's right in front of her face. It made me mad and I thought T was too good for him. Then later when he realizes he loves T and wants her, I'm thinking 'Too bad! You fucked that up.' I just was disappointed in Animal and kind of wish I never read this since my opinion of him plummeted. T is awesome and I felt bad for all the heartbreak she went through. She deserved better!

What did you do to me, Debra Anastasia?!? HAVOC wrecked havoc on my heart and I still feel its crash. My heart raced from this roller coaster of a romance with all the thrills, chills, and heart flutters. PURE EXHILARATION! Havoc was MY HIGH, my delicious drug, and I was ADDICTED to every word of this thrilling, twisty and tender tale. The PARALYZING INTENSITY pulled me in—dark spun with light—piercing me everywhere. Intense. Intriguing. Dangerous. Daring. Sweet. Sexy. Emotional. Everything. Havoc was and is EVERYTHING!

With its brilliantly-written plot tangled in twists and turns, Havoc nearly tossed me over the edge—dangling me over an emotional cliff—where I contemplated biting off a nail or ten. The flow of this romance is flawless—paced to perfection. The characters are charismatic and compelling, a mix of superhero and vigilante, the definition of bravery and badass, and oh did I bow to them.

His name was branded on my quivering soul.

Havoc branded MY soul.

Animal and T are friends on fire and I felt their burn. I felt their every move. I felt their every word. I felt their everything!

My soul would always know hers.

With their hearts of gold under their tough demeanor, Animal and T MELTED ME! I adored and admired this true hero and heroine so much. I don’t know whose story shattered me more: T’s or Animal’s. These soulmates spoke to my soul and hijacked my heart.

”I love only once, Animal.”

Havoc grabs you from the first page and never lets go. Slowly but surely, piece by piece, this story shattered my soul while simultaneously hugging my heart. Havoc spun my emotions like a merry-go-round. Oh mercy, this roller coaster of a romance brought the best kind of HAVOC to my heart, and I LOVED EVERY MINUTE! I was WRECKED in the best way! I NEED MORE.

Love was pain where I was from. And I was in so much pain I wanted to die.

I’m a little torn on this one. I liked that Animal wasn’t portrayed like an 80-yr-old gma, but I REALLY struggled with the T/Animal match-up. I’ve mentioned this in the last review, but sometimes I felt like the author didn’t have a clear path of where she wanted this to go, or which lane she wanted to drive in. There’s some heavy stuff, but I wouldn’t call it dark. There’s a second-chance romance element, but it’s not romantic, nor is a romance really developed. T is super resilient, but acts like a bathroom mat. Animal is supposed to be an anti-H, but he’s not super tough… he’s also Havoc now. T’s a homeless runaway, but now she’s an ass kicking, hacking, investigator ninja. It’s sort of all over the place. I can get down with pretty much anything, but I need to know where I’m going, and I couldn’t find a groove. I’m going to spoiler the rest, so stop if you plan to read this.

"Love was pain where I was from. And I was in so much love I wanted to die."

I've been waiting for Animal's story since I finished MERCY a few months ago, and Debra Anastasia delivered a story that I devoured in no time!

Just like with Becca and Nix's story, I loved the atmosphere of this spin-off. It's dark, but not as dark as you might imagine. It's dangerous, exciting, sad and sometimes hugly, definitely compelling.

HAVOC is about family ties: the family you have, the family you deserve and the family you build. It is about love: T and Animal's is the kind of a lifetime. They met when they were only kids, the storytelling going back and forth between then and now, the flashbacks intertwined with the present, giving a really enjoyable pace. Their love grew slowly but strongly, from friends to lovers, they are each other's match. When life interfers through tragedies, for T, the little homeless girl and Animal, the little foster kids, happiness is a long bumpy ride away.

I have been agreeably surprised by the characters personalities, with T, totally badass, and such an endearing young woman! She is selfless, strong, determined and ...lethal. She can take care of herself and of her loved ones. And when I say LOVE, it's a loaded word since she claims she "loves only once", which is beautiful. Kind, charming, animal radiates, people simply like him. I loved his dual persona, the "business" partner, ruthless and resolute, and the sweet friend he can be as well. Not to mention his incredible abilities in the bedroom ;)... I've been  a little mad at him for not seeing what was, has been, right under his nose until it was almost too late but he certainly made up for that!

Gritty, raw and noneless sweet, Havoc, along the same lines as Mercy, is definitely the kind of thrilling  journey that I enjoy. If you like a strong family / tribe vibe with some action and a healthy dose of emotion, don't wait any longer! Happy reading!

As we'd already met Fenix "Bones"and his Becca in Mercy, it was just obvious we'd get his best friend and saviour of sorts, Animal his own book. He was extremely intrigu8ng, insanely sexy, brute lover of a man, managing a nefarious business organisation. Their journey was documented in Mercy but this one is Animal's story. His childhood, his best friend and companion/best friend-T. It definitely had meat, I mean when you're associated criminal and earning boatloads of money, and ridiculously handsome at that, you'd be leading a glamorous life, wouldn't you. Girls, money, drugs, the whole shebang. But it's far, far from truth. In fact, Animal keeps his senses all the time, and is just using women, a lot of women, to just offload and destress !. His life is missing a meaning because he has had toughest of childhood.

He desperately wanted to belong, to be loved and love somebody....anybody! Too bad that the people he loved, couldn't reciprocate, and the people who did, he couldn't find love for in his heart. He would've fallen into the system cracks and ended up in juvie and prison, had it not been for Merck, the Good Cop, who saved his ass multiple & crucial times and guided his life.
On his way to adulthood and success, T steps in and out of his life. They're the classic NOT meant-to-be couples!!
she knew my deal, and I knew hers. We tried to watch each other's back it was hard though, we were tied to separate rafts in the middle of monsoon. we were trying to survive
Theirs is a disturbed relationships. She has paranoia and claustrophobia ridden life, he has abandonment issues and disassociative disorder.
she was a runner. some people couldn't take locked doors . she wanted an open door or a cracked window, when she was locked in she started dying .

A very interesting dynamic entails their story. She's a single minded, driven and disciplined warrior. A strong woman, who shields her heart, yet is very upfront about her feelings.yet her loyalty and Love is unquestionable and steadfast
I only love once, Animal

I found many improbable happenings and story holes. I really needed answers to them. The plot is rich but fell a little short of the usual Debra Excellence
But still go and read the book

We first met Animal in MERCY. He’s the best friend of Nix — his brother. Animal aka HAVOC is a ladies man. One, two, three he’s not fussy, he’s the king in the bedroom and in his business but he’s also a fierce protector of those he loves. When someone from his past turns up, she too falls under his protection. The thing about T is she’s fierce and protective herself and will do anything for those she cares for; for the man she loves.

Havoc is a story of two halves. First its Animal and T as kids. It’s about hardships and survival against the odds. The second part is about accepting your place in someone’s life, being the best friend you can be, learning your own heart, learning to live when your life is over.

Havoc is a rollercoaster. It. Will. Break. You. Luckily, Debra Anastasia loves a happy ending so while you think you might not be able to breath properly, at least it’s temporary.

Animal and T’s story is a hard fought battle. It’s utterly gorgeous— a big warm hug on a cold day. It’s— sublime.

A very worthy 5 ⭐️

ADORABLE!
I just loved Animal & T!
And of course Nix and Becca and Ember and Merck too!
Such an amazing family! Different. Crazy. Criminal. Loving. Perfect.

This was such a great book. I loved the teenager chapters. So heartbreaking!
The romance part was a bit lost in all that criminal activity and other stuff... but it was still very adorable!

Animal is so sweet and smart and ... I just love him. The way he loves his family, his brother. The way he calls Nix baby or Sweetness - adorable! And T. Such a sad little girl. She had to be so strong since she was a tiny kid and she became a badass woman! ♥

Amazing story!

Can't wait to get started with Ember's book now!

I have been wanting Animal's book since we met him in Mercy - and here he is!

It is a stand alone, however you will revisit characters from Mercy so you might like to read it first?

Animal and T's story is heartbreaking, Our lovelies are both emotionally broken, and even apart they are looking out for each other.

The first half of this book is exceptional. I couldn't put it down, I wanted to throw my kindle to the side, asking out "why?". Animal and T are so strong and I just want to hug them both, make it all go away.

The middle fell away a little for me. I wanted to nut punch Animal, and I wanted to slap some sense into T, tell her to run run run as fast as she can. Their love is a bit toxic at times, and the way Animal treats T with so little respect makes me hate him a little.

It did come back together for me towards the end again though, and I really enjoyed where they ended up.

Gut wrenching, heart breaking, yet full of hope - that's what Havoc felt like to me.

Now I need Ember (Nix's sister) and her story. Please don't make me wait too long Ms Anastasia.

Havoc
By: Debra Anastasia
3.5 I only love Once Stars

Havoc is a spin off book from the characters we met in Mercy. Although it’s a standalone, I would personally recommend reading Mercy first to get the full experience.

Animal and T’s story is a wild ride. One that spans over many years. In this book, holes are filled and we find out so much about these two. What they will do for each other just to survive.

This is a very intense story! One that at times I found myself having to go back and reread what happened so that I could get it straight. Some scenes that I felt were hard to image or believe.

Overall, I enjoyed the book, but not as well as Mercy.

Mercy was the shit. Okay. Mercy was everything.
And here in HAVOC, we get Animal's story.
At first, your girl was like wait, hold up. So who is his love interest? I stand behind my original though that we should eliminate every damn body and just put Animal and Nix together. I love their love. I ship their love. Yes, it's a lonely ship. But IDC, give me an Animal and Nix romance, damn it. I mean, dude was gonna die for dude.

DO. YOU. HEAR. ME?

Okay, fine. So it's not the Animal and Nix love affair my greedy heart ached for, but I was still here for this. Was not a fan of the shit Animal got up to before he finally pulled his head out his ass, but I still loved his crazy self and enjoyed his book.

I haven't read the first book in this series so I can't speak for the "other" Animal that a few other reviews have mentioned. I only just met him in this book. For the most I think he was the only thing I liked about this book. The story had several holes and other things that left me a bit confused. I think the biggest thing that is affecting me rating this higher is the female lead. She was waaay to doormat for my liking, she took so much more than I would have expected her too, she never connected to me as a reader. I didn't mind him so much though, I mean several things he did really pissed me off but other than that he was so so. I don't understand the detailed sex scenes between the other woman. The fact that he did that wasn't the part the bothered me it was the fact that we had to live through pages of him doing it. Typically we are told the guy did something and that's it. I agree with that way of doing it. I don't feel the guys cheat on the female lead when something happens before they are even together or even if they are split up. I mean come on let's be honest here, it ISN'T cheating just because you don't agree with it. What bothered me about this instant was that we had to see it played out over and over again but the chick I'm suppose to be rooting for didn't get anything till like 85%. How am I suppose to want them to be together or root for them when I don't see any "moments" or whatever till the last 20% of the book. I don't mind her writing or any of that it's just this story that was a nope for me.

My review while reading the book :

May 3, 2018 – "WTF. Why didn't someone warn me this book contains sex with OW. It has Cheating with capital "C". The H has sex with so many women three/four after meeting h when she was living with him. The detailed sex scene with the supposedly enemy HELL NO. It was disgusting. Easy way to lose points in my book.I really hope this book is awesome or else I have just wasted my time. M furious. Heroine is a doormat. Really hating it"

My review after reading the book :

Nope, still didn't like it. Ending was good but still couldn't get over the fact that the H had sex with OW despite h telling him not to . Now, I know that their were not a couple when he had sex with Other women but he could have been more discrete when he was going on prowl after knowing she loved him. He could have been more sensitive.

I found the h stupid and bitchy. In one scene she tells him she wants him to find true love like she has for him and other scene she like its ok as long as he had menage because that meant his heart was not involved and felt afraid and insecure thinking about him with one woman because there were chances he might fall in love with some OW. Seriously, if you are a bigger person and ready to walk away for the chance of his happiness then why are you angry and jealous instead of being happy for him ? When he tells her loves her she says she knows. Really???? like he proved his love for her every step of the way {snort}

To make matters worse, sex with the supposed enemy was more erotic and steamy than with the heroine.

I would have given it more stars if the sex with OW was not so detailed, so erotic, so steamy, so panty melting, so kinky, so ..... everything you want in a perfect sex scene .

So, nope. Even though they were not a couple, still couldn't get over the sex scene with OW and how queasy that made me.

*DNF at pg 135 (this page very much has to do with why I DNFed this book)

This has to be one of the most disappointing books I have ever (partially) read. I loved Animal so much in Mercy because of his loving LOYAL personality, and I could definitely see those personality traits shining through in the first part of Havoc. The first 100 pages details Animal's rough childhood where he bonded with a homeless classmate named T, who is the heroine of this story. Animal and T get tragically separated, but finally reunite during the timeframe that Mercy (the first book in the series) took place. When they reconnect T confesses that she is in love with Animal, and Animal says he doesn't reciprocate, but clearly plays with her feelings henceforth (this book has me so mad I am using words reserved for 18th century douches). Animal has sex with countless women after T's confession, all the while emotionally manipulating T, but the final straw was the detailed sex scene of animal and another woman that T SPECIFICALLY WARNED ANIMAL AWAY FROM. Animal claimed to put T first and trust T's opinions above all others, but he clearly doesn't. What sucks the most is that this tarnishes my feelings of Animal from Mercy. Animal went from being the best character in this fictional world to the worst AND FOR WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. I m so mad right now I don't know what to do feuigwnhduo

T is not like other women, the girl just surprises Animal over and over again, “yup, that’s the place. I like guns. They turn me on.” Animal really wants to go that extra mile for his woman, "T was here, naked in my arms. Spent in my arms. I wanted to kill something and eat the heart in front of her. I wanted to start eight fights and win them all, just so she could be impressed." I loved this book, Animal was well an aminal.

description

Buona continuazione, ragazze.
