My goals for my final year at university were:

1) Kick ass at my internship
2) Keep hiding from my family
3) Stop frying my phone battery by accident with my powers.

Then I walked into the first day of my internship at a hot indie record label to find that my old life had collided with my new one.

Five hot guys in a band called Phoenixcry, I’m supposed to manage them, and oh yeah, PS, they’re werewolves. I’ve left the magic world behind, but I’m still a witch and witches and werewolves don’t mix.

But doing the wrong thing was always my M.O., so now I’m out on the road with a band full of sexy, growly werewolves. But the magic world is one step behind us: there are hunters on our trail, and if they catch us the boys are dead and I’m back at home under lock and key.

Oh, one more thing, I think I’m falling in love with them. Not just one of them, all of them, and to make it super complicated, I think they feel the same way.

So I had to revise my goals for this year:

1) Kick ass at my internship
2) Don’t fall in love with the band
3) Stay alive

Sounds easy, right?

==========

Meet Darcy Llewellyn, fourth year university student, music intern, and secretly a witch. This is the story about how she meets and falls in love with the werewolves that make up the band Phoenixcry: Finn Gunner, Elias Gunner, Charlie Gage, Wesley “Ace” Rivers, and Cash Legend.

This steamy Reverse Harem Romance is over 80,000 words in length, and is the first in a series about Darcy Llewellyn and her pack of werewolf lovers.

It was pretty good but too long. The 260 pages felt like one thousand and I kept looking at the percentage hoping it would go up faster.
Nevertheless, the writing was very nice, the characters were well drawn and Darcy was a good heroine. I'm not sure how I felt about the guys, though.

Gah I freaking LOVED this book! It made me feel so nostalgic, not the magic or werewolves lol but the band stuff. In my early 20’s I managed a band so reading this took me back to a really cool place in my life. It made me realize I kinda miss it. Ok but enough of that! Back to my actual review! K.T. freaking blew my mind with this book she nailed the touring aspect for a small band and the feeling you can get from an amazing song. Also I loved Darcy and the Phoenixcry Guys! I hope we get more info the guys back story and am looking forward to meeting Darcy’s witch family. And I hope we get to go on tour again!

A solid 3 stars for me

Okay, this one was a departure for me. I generally avoid the music scene romances (even RH) like the plague. Just doesn't do it for me. But this one had the band as werewolves and their manager as a witch, so I thought why the hell not?

The plusses:

+ This is an incredibly real glimpse of life on the road as an opening band on tour. Clearly the author is writing what she knows. And does an amazing job of conveying that to the reader.

+ The story is polished and cleanly written, creating an immersive read.

+ The harem has a lot of potential, though I have to say that it is still unrealized (see below). But they are hot and their backstory is a REALLY interesting hook into a potentially great series (that is now going to be 5 books apparently).

The negatives:

- The MC, Darcy, can be irritating at times. She is rather passive, extremely insecure, and does not communicate with anyone. She lives in her head all the time. A few times, these traits became overwhelming and upsetting. But most of the time, it was manageable and the story interesting - and something I will stick with IF the author has her show some growth right damn quick in the next book (due out in 3 days).

- The boys, hot as they are and as much potential as there is, were a little distant. There were a couple super scenes with Cash that the author then pulled so far back from that it was frustrating. And Darcy and Finn getting close is a little...soft. Just not quite feeling the guys as much as is needed to really "get" them. Need to develop their characters a bit more.

- Book 1 ended on a terribad cliffhanger, and I'd be pissed as hell if the next book weren't due to drop in a couple days. (Not to mention the stooooopid ass decision Darcy is making at the end of the book! Seriously, can't the girl THINK before she knee-jerk reacts?)

Overall though, it was a worthwhile read - if for nothing else than the really cool glimpse of the band life, and the potential this has as a paranormal RH romance.

UPDATE NOTES:
95% - Okay, and here is where the series may have lost me. What a twit, Darcy! Come ON.Totally stupid. Does she not know how to talk to anyone? Ever? And the knee-jerk reactions. Ugh.
“No.”
“Then you need to think about that. Really carefully.”
“I can’t.”
I needed to not think. Thinking was a privilege for the people who weren’t walking around with half their heart dragging on the ground behind them.
88% - Couldn't stop laughing at this one. LOL
"We piled out into the fresh air, blinking into the sun like a group of disheveled mole-people."
87% - LMAO!! This was perfect
“Just fuck her already,” Charlie snapped from his bunk. “The two of you, just fuck and shut up. Some of us, very obviously not fucking, are trying to sleep.”
76% - First evidence of any relationship/interaction with the headline band, Glory Rev. Nice!
"My phone buzzed and I pulled it out, checking it quickly. It was Aaron. I forgot to say you’re a class act. Loyalty is everything in this biz. Take it from a road warrior."
58% - Phase/faze AGAIN! grrrr
“I’m okay, big guy,” I promised. “I’m a tough cookie. I can hold my own against someone like Charlie. He doesn’t even phase me.”

OMG this book was SO GOOD. The boys of Phoenixcry are entirely swoon worthy - Finn, Eli, Ace, Cash, and Charlie. You can’t help but wish you were Darcy and get to hangout with them all day. Then there’s Darcy herself, who is also awesome and a pretty relatable character despite being a witch. This book has got it all: witches, werewolves, intrigue, danger, and HOT rockers. Loved the entire story and the end will make you want to preorder the sequel ASAP!! Must read.

I honestly can’t even believe this was just the first book that KT Strange has written! It was so well written and professional it didn’t feel like a debut novel at all.

I seriously fangirled over this book so hard and you will too!!

I was so lucky to receive an ARC copy of this book and oh my I couldn’t put it down!!!
Who knew witches and werewolves would make such a sexy combination!!! With so many directions this book could go in the cliffhanger at the end just has you screaming for more!!!
I can’t wait to see what else happens in the next book, it has left me wanting more of these sexy werewolves and their flighty witch!

So far this is somewhat PNR lite. We have a mostly non PNR plot, but with a sprinkle of non shifting werewolves, and a witch who barely has magic.

I do like the book and how Darcy is doing, but I think she jumped the gun and being an adult or professional she should have discussed her problems or what she was inferring. I was disappointed in that ending and I couldn’t understand why if she was estranged from her family, that at the first sign of some hardship she immediately returns home? Based on the preview of the next book they have no idea that’s what she is thinking. They think she is scared, not that she feels betrayed. Idk if Charlie really likes her as he didn’t speak up about anything.

The pacing was slow, and some of the writing was telling not showing which gets annoying.

I may or may not read the next book I am not sure right now.

I was really enjoying it until the heroine, out of the blue, made a big TSTL choice right at the end. I'm going to give it a tentative 3.5 stars, because there's so much I like about it. We'll see where it goes.

I feel like "Seriously Amazing" or "A Must Read" sounds so overused these days. But they're all I can come up with for Strange's debut. I read this over the course of two days, but dammit, if life hadn't made me put it down, I wouldn't have. Darcy is so freaking relatable that you're rooting for her from the start. And the guys? Fantastic. And better yet, each main guy is distinct. Too often I read books like these and they just ... are cookie cutters. I struggled to pick a favorite, but honestly, I adore Charlie. I cannot wait to read the next one.

I loved everything about this book. Once I started I couldn't put it down. Darcy was a great mc. She was trying to live her life as a normal person after running away from her witchy family then gets hired as th whenever of a werewolf band. I loved all of her guys. I really enjoyed the tour stuff and the ending just about killed me. I am desperate for book 2.

I can't believe I've only just discovered K.T. Strange!

This was such a great RH book. It steered clear of my pet peeve, male first POV, so we got to focus on Miss Darcy Llewellyn: music intern, exile, and mediocre witch. By the way, that last thing is my favourite aspect of her. Too often in paranormal we get the special-snowflake heroines with unprecedented powers, so it was lovely to read about a witch who's barely a witch instead. Darcy was slightly too flaky to be completely to my taste - she was great at doing a runner whenever the going got tough - but I really liked her, on the whole. Her narration is gripping and very readable.

Her werewolf rockstar harem was awesome too. She gets five of them - Eli, Finn, Charlie, Cash and Ace. While their personalities are all very distinct, at the beginning it was hard to tell who looked like that. Four of them are blond, four have blue eyes, but the brunet isn't the brown-eyed one... I'm probably just dumb but it took me a while to be 100% sure that Cash is the brunet with blue eyes and Charlie is the blond with brown eyes. Still, at least I've got it straight now!

This book concentrates mostly on Darcy's developing relationship with Finn whilst being the band manager for the wolves as they go on tour to escape human hunters, who have wiped out the boys' pack. K.T. really knows her music-industry stuff here (or at least so it seemed to me, who knows very little) so nothing felt jarring.

I'll admit it was a little weird at first to read that Finn was like 50. Huge age gaps in paranormal is a given, but normally it's like 300 years to 21; 50 is still within a normal human lifetime so I found it a bit off-putting first. But Finn (and Ace and Charlie) are funny and sexy, so like, whatever. Eli and Cash are still arseholes at this stage but I'm eager to see how that changes. Onto the next one!

Darcy’s a witch posing as a mundane, and she’s been accepted for her first choice internship at XOhX Records.
But what she’s doesn’t know is that she’s going to end up managing the hottest upcoming band, who just happen to be 5 extremely hot werewolves.
Rules are about to be broken since werewolves and witches should be near each other. And that’s not the only rule being broken and mistakes to be made.

What a little heartbreaking cliffhanger at the end.

Phoenixcry is fabulous, steamy, butterfly inducing start to The Rouge Witch series, and I highly recommend this reverse harem series.

Witches and werewolves oh my. It started off a bit rocky. The book kept referring to mundane people as Monday. I thought the MFC got over her fear and wariness of werewolves a little too quickly. But it got better and by the end I was dying to know what happens. Look forward to the next book

I really liked this book, though I had moments where I could have thrown my kindle down in frustration over how immature the MC was being. Sometimes she comes across really mature and level headed, I mean she has made such big choices in her life. And at other times she just seemed plain dumb.
Anyway, I was going to give this less than 3 stars due to how frustrating I thought Darcy was but the rest of the story was so well delivered that I kept the stars. Plus, I know I’m going to continue the series, so there is definitely something keeping me reading...

Decent story, uneven characters

The story is there but it needs major tweaks. The characters were very uneven, not much on romance. Heroine was kind of whiny and week.

Normally I wait until the end o my review but I’ll go ahead: I highly recommend you read this book!!! Seriously ~ like, right now! You know how sometimes first in the series books can be ehhh maybe the next one with be better, this was good but just needs more? That is absolutely NOT this book. The writing is so good. The words wrap you in a cocoon and the story envelopes you completely. The characters, oh my, the characters. Eli, Finn, Charlie, Cash, and Ace I want to lick them all while soothing every hurt they’ve ever felt. Intense, interesting, passionate, at times broody, and some closed off with others eager they are everything you want and more. I’m a favorite picker but here I just can’t do it. They are equally beautiful and equally flawed. Darcy, Darcy, Darcy. What can I say? She makes me feel all the feels. She makes me want to hug her and shake in equal measure while maintaining her likability. KT is truly a talented writer to offer us such a story with such brilliant characters, main and secondary, that we root for and cry for and love. I said it before but I’ll gladly say it again, I highly recommend! For those that might have made it this far, what are you doing and why haven’t you one clicked and started reading?

I read Phoenixcry until 3am on a work night, I could seriously not even contemplate putting it down.
This is such a strong debut for K.T. Strange, I cannot wait to read more of her work.
You can certainly tell that Strange has experience in working with bands and being on tours, everything was so confidently delivered.

Darcy and the guys are so complex and lifelike. I am hoping we get to actually see the pack be able to shift shape in one of the books, but I love that Strange incorporated their wolf side into their daily lives without it becoming over the top.

I also love that Darcy is not afraid to stand up for herself, no matter if it be human or werewolf. I am not a big fan of the still a virgin trope, however it did not play a huge part in the story and I can understand the reason why Darcy would not be quick to jump into any form of intimacy with a guy.

The only negative, for me, was that there were a few grammatical errors. However, they were small and did not detract from the story - hence the 5 star rating.

Phoenixcry does end on a cliffhanger, but, as Strange points out in her acknowledgement, the next book is out in a few weeks. THANK GOD!!!
If you’re a fan of werewolves, witches, bands, and reverse harems, then do yourself a favour and one click this one.

Phoenixcry is a story about a young witch with minimal powers who has run away from her family and her coven in hopes of finding a life as a regular human woman where she will be able to be around people who believe what she has to say. While starting an internship at a music label, she is assigned to manage her own band. Little does she know, she didn't get as far away from the supernatural world as she thought because this isn't just any band, this is a band with a twist, they are werewolves. Witches and werewolves don't mix, they just don't, at least that's what Darcy has always known. Now she will have to work through her fears of werewolves and her fears that maybe her parents will pull her back home and not let her go while falling in love with these 5 strong men she can call her own. If you love a story with sexy werewolves or hot rock bands, this is the story for you. This story was well written with a flow that just captures the readers attention and doesn't let go. If your thinking of purchasing this book, just do it. Join Darcy and her men in a world of love, music and magic.

My goals for my final year at university were:

1) Kick ass at my internship
2) Keep hiding from my family
3) Stop frying my phone battery by accident with my powers.

Then I walked into the first day of my internship at a hot indie record label to find that my old life had collided with my new one.

So I had to revise my goals for this year:

Story: I really liked this story. The main character bugged me off and on. 3 of the guys were great! Finn, Ace, and Charlie were great. I had high hopes for Cash but he let me down. Elias I just don't have a good sense of him yet. The end was a bit of a let down for me. I understand why Darcy is doing what she's doing but I just don't know how I feel about it. And yet again, Cash let me down.

Narration: Darcy Llewellyn, Finn Gunner, Elias Gunner, Charlie Gage, Wesley "Ace" Rivers, and Cash Legend
This is one of the best audiobook productions that I've ever heard. I loved how all the characters had their own actors. I loved the parts where you could tell someone was talking on the phone and the singing parts. I think there were some other sound effects that I enjoyed as well. This is one of my favorite listens of the year.

UGH! I think I have finally awoken from my book hangover after this masterpiece!

Phoenixcry was an amazing read, from the way that K.T. Strange wrote to the characters themselves. It's easy to see how Darcy can fall so easily in love with not one, but five amazingly talented werewolves that should be off limits. It's great to read a story and be able to immerse yourself so far into their world that you forget what reality is really like.

While the cliffhanger at the end can go jump (excuse me, but WHAT?!), it just makes the next book so much more exciting. Can't wait to see where we go in book #2 Phoenixfall: A Reverse Harem Romance! K.T. keep up the great work!

I received a copy of this book from the author for review consideration.

Im in love Finn, Eli, Ace, Cash, and Charlie are amazing and the fmc Darcy is my new favourite she's incredible and I feel like I could relate to this character Her being a witch made her that much cooler. The book was written soo good that it felt like I was living right along side them. I love the feeling of escaping in to a story and this one didn't disappoint. This book has got it all: witches, werewolves, intrigue, danger it will definitely keep you hooked till the end. Only downside is that I need more book 2 can't come soon enough. KT Strange for her first book has done brilliantly the story being RH is just a huge plus amazing she has a huge fan in me and I can't wait to read more from her

I loved this book soo much highly recommend go get your copy now

I had really been looking forward to this book and I really enjoyed it. It was well written (only a few little grammar issues) and who wouldn't love to read about a werewolf band and their witch manager. I gave it four stars instead of five because I kind of felt like all the guys didn't get equal page time. It seemed to focus more on Finn, not that there is anything wrong with him, I just wish the others could have got more attention. Especially because they are all awesome (even though they all made a few mistakes). And that cliffhanger... gah! I can't believe it. The guys really need to find her and have a serious conversation, straighten everything out. Anyway... Can't wait for book 2. I need Darcy and her guys to make up.

I received Phoenixcry as a free copy from the author/publisher. The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion. What a unique story line! With simple worldbuilding, Strange has created an interesting dynamic between weres and witches- with vague hints regarding the historical reasons for their racial animosity. Imagine Darcy's surprise when she finds herself assigned as the manager to a werewolf band, and circumstances keep her on the job. Over time, she begins to see the werewolves in a different, more sympathetic light. The action was fast-paced, with sub-plots to keep the reader guessing what would happen next. I enjoyed the characters and the steady progression of the relationships-- well done. I'm definitely interested to see what happens next.

It's not often that I'm completely blown away by a new-to-me author, but it hastened with this story. Then tension and the story builds and builds, so that you focus more on the characters and not the smexy. Then, it happens and then instead of just focusing on that, it's woven so beautifully in the story, and I'm just completely blown away. I'm falls there will be more books (honestly I'm not a fan of the cliffhanger), but I wish they were all out now. I can't wait to see what the next pay off their journey entails.

If you ever wondered what it would be like to be on tour with a rock band this book gives you a great idea.

Plenty of relationship drama and a slow start to the magical part of the story but it was still a good read.

Very well written, the story flows smoothly with some cute fake screenshots of Darcy the main characters twitter doing her bit to promote the band.

Definitely not for younger readers.

It was a good read.

I had skimmed past this book multiple times before I actually read it. I finally said what the heck and went for it. I am not disappointed at all! I was intriguing and kept you wanting to know more. The author brought the characters to life before your eyes and man are the amazing characters. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book to other readers.

Wow. This book was hard to put down. Starts off light with two best friends then gets intense when the guys show up. Being a witch who doesn’t have much control over her powers,Darcy, is someone you’d want to be friends with. Just like the werewolf boys, she is protective of those she cares about. Max and the boys become her family/pack. Being a manager of an all werewolf band has its challenges, question is, how are you going to get through it?
