A New Urban Fantasy Series by USA Today Bestselling Author Angela Roquet.
This boxed set includes books 1-3 in the Blood Vice series: Blood Vice, Blood and Thunder, and Blood in the Water.
When Detective Jenna Skye wakes up in the morgue to discover that her partner is dead and the human trafficking ring they were investigating has disappeared, she thinks there's no way her night could get any worse. That is, until she finds a werewolf squatting in her house and drops dead at the break of dawn. She always wanted to take a bite out of crime. Just not this literally.
A collision of supernatural crime, vampy romance, and a few loose screws—perfect for fans of Chloe Neill and Charlaine Harris.
USA Today bestselling author Angela Roquet is a delightfully macabre weirdo. She lives in Missouri with her irresistible BFF husband, their sweet, clever son, and a majestic marshmallow of a Great Pyrenees in a house stuffed with books, toys, skulls, owls, and glitter-speckled craft supplies.
Angela is a member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association, as well as the Four Horsemen of the Bookocalypse, her epic book critique group, where she’s known as Death. When not swearing at the keyboard, she enjoys playing with her family and reading books that raise eyebrows.
GRAVEYARD SHIFT, the first novel in Angela's Lana Harvey, Reapers Inc. series, and BLOOD VICE, book one in the Blood Vice series, are now available for FREE on Kindle, Nook, Kobo, iBooks, & Google.
Normally after listening to three books in a series in a row I need a break, but this trio of books left me wanting more, thank goodness there are more books in the series.
Waking up a vampire can't be easy so I was impressed with how well Jenna handled it. She's a very likeable main character and how she goes about handling her new situation and the people around her make these books very enjoyable. The characters as a whole are well developed, they feel real and have their own likes and dislikes and plenty of quirks.
The world building is also well done, the vampire and were cultures are distinct and detailed.
As long as this trio is I had to force myself to stop listening so I could get enough sleep so I'd be functional at work.
The narration is excellent, great character voices and the delivery is smooth and well paced.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.
I am very impressed by BLOOD VICE and the first three volumes of Angela Roquet's series are definitely worth it. They're a series based around Jenna Skye, police detective turned undead. She is a hard luck vampire as she wants to do the right thing but continually fumbles it throughout. This is a light cozy mystery series and full of fun. These are not particularly terrifying vampires but still drink blood while being killed by sunlight. It reminds me a bit of BLOODSUCKING FIENDS: A LOVE STORY by Christopher Moore combined with the BLOOD series by Tanya Huff.
Didn't want too put these books down! Enjoyed that there is a romance aspect but it didn't take over the story line like some adult fantasy books tend too.
This series continues to surprise. Jenna is finally getting some control over her new life.as a vampire, She now has three blood donors who keep her comfortable but she still has the problem of earning a living........ Her savings are not going.to last forever after all................ Jenna and Mandy her werewolf friend have been accepted into the next training course to join the Blood Vice department ............. Which polices the supernaturals ........ It's a three month intensive training program that vampires with fifty years under their belts struggle to complete and here's Jenna with just three months thinking she can survive the training............... and that's without the other trainees who don't think she deserves to be there and whoever it is who's trying to sabotage her,..........
Slow start in book form 1, but picked up and held my interest
I originally set the first book aside. The realization of her undead status and learning the supernatural was real seemed to drag out for me. So, when I saw books 1 to 3 in a bundle, I decided to give it another shot. I also grabbed the audio of all three in one. I was prepared for the slow beginning and skimmed over the early chapters. I'm glad I did. I like Jenna and Mandy. I like the cases that have evolved in each book. I enjoy the developing story arc of the series. I will continue with the series. There is an interesting cast and I like the Blood Vice aspect of the series.
What an awesome series! The author, Angela Roquet, is very good at doing that authoring thing. Lol Book one captured me right away. I found that book two dragged slightly near the middle but did pick up. Book three was a whirlwind of fantasticness from the beginning, and then even got better by the end. As soon as I finished book three I immediately went to Amazon Kindle store and bought the book 4-5-6 omnibus. ( only 9.99 in the Canadian Kindle store.) I highly recommend this series to any fan, every fan, of urban fantasy. This is a five star series...(so far!) lol
Blood Vice - Blood and Thunder - Blood in the Water: Love Jenna, she's almost as awkward as me. Laura seems like the vapid narcissist most soap opera stars seem to be. I don't like Vin, even from the start, he struck me as the overbearing type, wouldn't surprise me if he became a stalker. I honestly expected Jenna to come back from Denver to find he's used her blood on himself. Roman is a teddybear in disguise. I absolutely adore Mandy, really wanted her to be able to keep Duncan. Looking forward to continuing with the series.
Audiobook review: Books 1-3 of the Blood Vice series are interesting with plenty of action, intrigue, mystery, a little romance, and a lot of baby vampling naivety. The storylines were interesting and the characters are likable. The narrator did a nice job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This author sort of resembles Ann Rice, but her characters not as well defined. The plots are OK and these vampires not like those in most novels in this genre. It was an interesting selection of the books and should be read in the chronological order since it is a continuation of the same plot. I found them entertaining but not so spell binding to make me want to read more in this series.
This is my second reading and it still held up. The main character is so moral and human despite being a vampire through no default of her own. Romance is also on the table.
Good character development. Excellent plots intertwining with character personalities. Couldn't stop laughing, thinking and analyzing . I'm on to the next 3 books in the series!
The characters were hard to accept at first, and a "real" understanding didn't come until book 3. Now I want more romance, suspense, mysteries and to hear more from the characters, especially Msndy.
Loved the dynamics between the main characters. Especially between Roman and Jenna. Then add a werewolf in the mix. The first 3 were great can’t wait to read the next 3
Jenna Skye is a newly minted detective, on her first bust, when things go, well, badly. She now has to move through life as a new vampire, with no one to help but a surly werewolf teen, and her estranged sister. Throw in a highschool crush and a mysterious FBI agent and Jenna has her work cut out for her. Will it all go "fangs up?"
Angela Roquet is a new author to me. I loved these books! There were laugh-out-loud moments and heart breaking ones, but all put together as easy to read books. I didn't want to put them down! Looking forward to the next one!
As Vampire stories goes go Fresh Blood is refreshingly different. Acceptance , Friendships, Romance, Murder & Politics all rolled into one. Sit back relax and enjoy a good read .
What a brilliant read Angela, Jenna is quite a formidable character, I felt her pain in book 1, she has grown to be likeable vampling! I hope that she doesn't lose her human side the older she gets, Roman is such an asshant, the they are cute together!
