Sigh.

That was... not good. Unfortunately.

The first two books frustrated the hell out of me, but I persevered because it was an intriguing premise and I hoped it would grow into that promise.

And for the first third to half of the book, I thought it just might. That first part - that took place in Ariziadia - was the best of the trilogy I think. The most interesting, certainly, though it still had it's share of writing problems, pacing issues, and a TSTL heroine.

But once the book hit the halfway mark, it really fell apart. It was as though the authors just ran out of steam and couldn't be bothered to finish the series. Instead, they just cobbled together an extended outline, and called it done.

The pacing was way off. Many key scenes that should have been part of the book were completely missing. Plot threads were just wrapped up with a paragraph or two of exposition. The MC continued to run around doing the STUPIDIEST things. So dumb that she would even have inner monologue with herself about what a bad idea it was, then kind of shrug and say to herself she just had to because she was curious. Or some other such nonsense. All so the authors could get her where she needed to be.

And then it just ended.

Oh, except for a really bad epilogue that ended with a strange, disjointed family dinner.

Ugh. Avoid this series if you haven't already begun.

(Honestly, I would have given it 1 star, but the first portion was decent, so I was generous.)

UPDATE PROGRESS NOTES:
87% - Oh wow. That’s the most ridiculously dumb ending. First - a mark that only did that is idiotic. Second - terrible cliched ending. Gah.

85% - "It hasn’t done glowed like that before." (Nice English in that quote!)

81% - “You won't have to worry again. It's finally over…” Uh no, you moron. There’s still an open portal and followers to deal with. (Well, they mentioned wrapping up the followers with a couple paragraphs later, but never any mention of the portal.)

79% - “So foolish. Such a dumb, difficult runt…” Yep! She is!

78% - Worst fight ever. Badly written and illogical. If Kenzie realized she could read his mind to predict his attack, why the eff wouldn’t she continue to do so? Stupid.

75% - Omg...even stupider. This girl takes the stupid cake. I was kinda going along okay with this book until she decided to just go on her own, despite all the followers with Alaric, and being worried she might die. If you had half a brain, you’d want help, girl.

74% - Guessing this is one of the original Ariziadians and this is not gonna be good. But we’ve already established Kenzie’s an idiot, soooo... “Thank you for the information, Earth child of mine,” she lets go of me suddenly, watching me with calculating eyes. “You should leave now, but we will see each other again soon.” (Uh, and nope, no return to this at all.)

72% - Oh god. Stupid strikes again. (And illogical author plot convolutions) I mean, all your allies and lovers are in the water below, being attacked, but instead of helping you are going to wander off after a flutter of material you see ahead of you? Riiiiiight. “Spotting a flicker of material swishing around a corner and darting through a gap in the stone walls of this underwater cave, I decide to follow it. What's the worst that could happen?”

72% - Why the hell are they all just running from it instead of killing it? If they can’t kill a fuggin sea monster, how do they expect to kill Alaric and his minions?

71% - This is really a silly plot point to make such a big deal of - even worse not actually telling the reader :( Quote: “Really? That’s it? I think I’m sticking with Daniels,” I chuckle in slight shock. I expected his name to be super sexy, but it’s pretty normal.

67% - Dunno why Kelly wouldn’t heal them. Not like there are other things for her to do.

64% - Why even bother with stupid thoughts like this? Who cares that everyone parked haphazardly? Certainly not worth wasting a whole paragraph describing when everything is already too rushed.

57% - “He [Ryan] was my only future on Earth” Indicating, of course, that there is some potential other future that is NOT on Earth or from Earth. But again, this is a plot point that was never resolved. Hinted at, maybe, but not resolved.

57% - “I won’t love again, it will always be Ry for me” This is silly when most marked have multiple mates. Why would Kelly be any different?

48% - “…happen to be in a cave with.” Again, consistency issues since she was described as being in a room with white painted walls and no exits.

47% - “Why are you sat there crying?” Great English :( Lots of these sort of issues in this book.

44% - “I know I shouldn’t just follow a disembodied voice, but I’m too curious not too.” Oh, the stupid illogic (and grammatical errors)! Sure, Kenzie IS that dumb...but even more this feels like the authors just didn’t take the time to write any believable reason for her to separate from the others. Would have been better to have left her alone and had this happen than have Locke and East find her and she walks off.

44% - “doesn’t take long for us to rip our clothes off, and for Locke to slip inside of me” All this no protection sex, Kenzie is gonna be pregnant in no time. At 18-19?

42% - One of the twins singing a soothing song to Kenzie that their mom used to sing to them really feels like a rip-off from Veil Diaries.

40% - Yeah. Darting back through the hole he came in...in the fucking ceiling (that he fell through and landed on the floor). LMAO. This book clearly needed more time with editors/proofers/beta readers. It is choppy and full of errors.

38% - God, did I mention that Kenzie is a moron? Taelon tells her she needs this tube in her quest to find her marks and to listen carefully. But the first time she hears something she doesn’t want anything to do with the tube anymore and refuses to take it? Idiot!

34% - Not even a thank you to Taelon, Kenzie? God you are self-absorbed!

31% - Yep, they are. Rude and stupid.
“It's very funny. You Earth marked are so strange. And quite rude as well. You haven't even asked for my name, and yet, you expect me to fly you to the edge of the path to Zarrci Honzel,” he says, folding his arms. His bulging arms. Gods, why are the marked here so huge? East decides to save me from further embarrassment, and he steps up so he is in line with me.

25% - Bleh...wall of expository backstory. Hate history lessons like this one explaining the history of Ariziadia and Earth.

23% - Why would Kenzie wonder if any of the Ariziadians have the twelfth mark hidden under their trousers when the twelfth mark is back of the neck?

9% - Uh huh. A purple grass floor in an underground cavern with no light? Riiight. Moss, maybe.

Ugh!

I am giving the whole series 3 stars because I liked the first book and I liked the first half of this book.

This book was rushed and thrown together with so many editing mistakes.

The big climax fell short and I am pissed that we don't even get Daniels first name.

The sad thing is I have enjoyed books by both of these authors.

My whole reaction to this book was: ehhhhh...

It felt like the writers just wanted to wrap it up, so they did it as quickly and neatly as possible, in a very boring and anticlimactic way. Nothing really exciting happens, I mean there are things happening that SHOULD be exciting, but it just doesn't feel that way. Lots of sex at the worse times ever, just to get the sex with the different characters out of the way.

They are in the new planet where the marked originated from, but even though theoretically you know they are in danger, at no point do you FEEL like they are. It is basically a summary retelling of what is happening. Oh, also you know exactly what is going to happen (how she gets rid of her father) before it does since it is spelled out for you in a prophecy... Why? It's like a big spoiler in the middle of the book... The book gets completed in the same exact way, no deviation whatsoever from the prophecy... Why would you spoil your own ending?

Then there are a lot of newly introduced things that never get developed. What is up with the underwater temple? What about the marked that came through with them? What about the families of the main characters (not the heroine's)? There are so many things unanswered. Also the relationships do not get developed. Just sex happens with the guys she still hadn't had sex before, but at no point do you feel like the relationship is deepening, so it came as a surprise when she starts telling people that she loves them, uhmm ok....

All in all,I liked the first book, then it kind of went down from there, to this horrible conclusion. I at least finished it (it was pretty short) so I am giving it 2 starts instead of 1.

Everything was too rushed in this one. This series had so much potential, but the last book really fell flat for me.

This book was short. It feels as though the authors broke this into 3 books just to charge more money when it could have easily been all combined into a single full length standalone. That is a bit annoying and feels shady. The 3 books together are $11.00. Combined, it is not worth that at all but since they had significant cliffhangers, I had to know what was next. But then once it was over and done, I was disappointed with the amount I paid for these.

Also, ust a heads up, this kindle book ends at 87%.

I did really enjoy the story and was hooked and committed from book 1 through 3. I loved the characters and loved that it is a reverse harem.

I hated that the prologue for each of the 3 books was a chapter from later in the book. I don't want previews, I want to be surprised as it happens. Once I discovered that is what the authors were doing, I just skipped the prologue entirely for books 2 and 3.

This book needs another round of editing, especially in the first 25% or so where I found multiple mistakes.

I give Marked for Destruction 3.5 stars. I give this series 4 stars overall. If these happen to be in KU, I highly recommend scooping them up. If not, it's a good story, but not $11.00 good.

I added the whispersync to the first two books but it wasn't available for this book. I'll keep an eye out though so I can have the completed story to listen to in the future.

Okay this was a pretty decent series, it was a little short but other wise not a waste of time. I did enjoy the series but I'm thinking it could have been better since it was co-written with someone else... who knows where else this could gone ... there were some holes I wished the authors would have touched on more. I also felt the ending was a little rushed... IJS 😏

Anyway overall rating:

I am disappointed by this book. I loved the first one so much but then, it went downhill from that and Marked by Destruction just wasn't good. I've read some reviews before diving into it so I knew what to expect even though I hoped I would like it. Unfortunately, it wasn't the case here.

This book felt rushed and I didn't care about anything or anyone. Nothing was exciting even though it should have been. The sex wasn't interesting and the 'I love you's were thrown in there just because they had to be there to wrap everything up, ya know??

I don't care about Kelly or about reading more from this world so I'm stopping now.

These aren’t bad....but they do lack depth. The stories or plot points could be more fleshed out. I feel like the characters are fleshed out but not their plot or actions. Things get mentioned and then dropped. Everything happens relatively easily. There’s conflict but nothing major. The tension is minor. It’s just all very average. I’m also disappointed we didn’t get more with her because there’s potential for more on what Kenzie is doing. I see the spin off is about Kelly but I’m not sure how I feel about this. I just find myself wishing for more.

Mediocre I guess.

First of i want to say that overall i liked the whole story(all three books) :)
My issues:
Everything that happen in this book was extremely rushed and it was questions that i didn't get answers to even until the end.. like why did Kenzie lose all of her brands/powers? And what happen between Kelly and that dude Taelon or whatever is name is?? And we also didn't get to know mr Daniels real name😞 i thought we would

i also felt that the "epic" fight that has been the talk was so quick and didn't feel epic at all.. it was just a basic fight and yeah end of that.
The test was also not as hard test as they said it would be or atleast made you believe that it would be a hard test.

I liked that we got to read from all of their PoV, i always thinks it's Interesting to read from their PoV to get to know them better.
But Holt crap that ending... dude Noo you can't leave me hanging like that, i want to read more!!! (Yes i know it's the last book, but you can wish)

I’ll give it two stars for the happy ending but the series in general is about a 1.5 star rating, if that.

This series had SO MUCH POTENTIAL. But it succumbed to being shallow and insignificant. The third book was rushed, short, hell I thought I was only like 1/4 of the way through and then I see I’m actually almost done with the damn book.

Total disappointment.

AND AGAIN WHO THE FUCK EDITED THIS BOOK. The number of blatant and cringeworthy mistakes I saw really put a damper on the book. I skipped like the last quarter of the book and went straight for the epilogue.

I wasn’t captivated. I wasn’t dying to know what happened. Everything was pretty predictable. Not a single death would have drawn a tear because let’s face it- there was ZERO emotional attachment from the get go.

Terrible writing if you ask me, sorry to say.

Five Marked Stars!

With Kenzie and the guys going through the portal to the world of the marked, they don’t know what’s ahead. They must find their way back to each other to so they can defeat Alaric. If Kenzie could get her marks back on the way, that would be great. What they find isn’t in this strange world isn’t anything they expected. They find marked people, but they have hundreds of marks insted of the 12 that they are used to. When they are sent on a quest to return Kenzie’s marks, they also gets tons of new marks. Now they must make their way to Earth to kill the father she doesn’t know, and doesn’t want to know. But will she survive?

Plot
This was such a great ending for such am amazing series. I’m sad to see it go 😥 Especially with that ending. It wasn’t a cliffhanger but I to see how it all plays out! I loved seeing all of the relationships continue to grow with all of the guys. I’m going to suffer from withdrawals with out those 5 sexy and sweet guys!

Character

Kenzie- I didn’t like her as much in this book. She thought she could just kill Alaric by herself. Which is stupid!! Then she tied East up! While she was only trying to save her guys, she still shouldn’t have gone by herself.

Mr.Daneils- I swear, the authors did this on purpose!! I need to know his name. He was still the bossy, over protective broody guy that we all love. I think he had a good reaction to the news at the end, but I’m not sure. I hope he did!

East- I’m kinda mad at him for trying to lock Kenzie up to stop her from fighting. He was trying to protect her, but there are other ways. But I still love him.

Logan and Locke- The twins were once again the joking light hearted ones. I loved how Locke was getting on Daniels nerves at the beginning.

Enzo- He turns into a badgerl! And a cute badger at that. Then Kenzie wanted to cuddle with his basger form. 😂

Kelly- I didn’t really like her. I didn’t like her in the first two books either. But in this one she was acting really weird and like a know it all. Yeah, she can see I got the future but that doesn’t mean you have to brag about it and then drags people along without explaining it to them. Then she wouldn’t look at Kenzie. They were supposed to be best friends, but they never really seems like BFFs.

while I gave the first 2 books 5 stars I could not give this one more than 3 to my own disappointment.
It just did not live up to my expectations. The book was extremely rushed. We dont really get to know anything about Ariziadia, the test Kenzie had to go trough wasn't hard at all if you really knew Kenzie at all, also I would have loved to see some of the others and their "hard test" Also what is Mr. Daniels Name? I mean come on give a little. Also the fight with her dad lacked extremely! It was over to soon, while I don't mind her mom killing the dad I mean she saw it in her vision, I wanted more fight, it was not really a fight at all. Then there is the ending, Really you stop with that? I love a good epilogue but I wanted to see everyone really getting into the dynamics and I wish the ending was greater.

I really am sorry to give it just 3 stars because I really liked the series, and this book disappointed me.

Three and a half stars for me. I was sooo excited to read this book after waiting for it to come out because I loved the other two. I was let down honestly. The book answered all of my questions basically but it left me wanting big time. It was majorly rushed, scenes that deserved a lot of description got half a page or 2 pages. Lots of errors in editing (which isn't a really big deal for me). The ending gave me a little happiness but not much because the book didn't bring out my emotions from why I was supposed to be sad, it was mostly mentioned here or there but it just didn't bring me to tears or almost tears so I could enjoy that happiness. Rose got the curse of the final book rush, not sure why she rushed it or if she even intended for it to be rushed but it happens too often and it sucks. It's worth the read even though it is rushed so you can have that closure though.

These authors know how to end a series!

I get tired of being let down or disappointed with an ending to a series when I’ve invested a lot of time a s energy into the characters and story. Well, I’m excited to say that I was very satisfied and happy with how this one ended. It’s a middle length book but packed a lot of action, romance and family life.

I expected more.

Compared to the other two books this was a shame, I expected more of the called “fight”, it was just disappointing.

We never get to know Daniels name which I expected three books for, and still here I am waiting.

I wish I had my 5 on 1 scene. And also I didn’t like the end. It was just pointless.

The third and final book in the series and it’s exciting and full of danger, with twists and turns galore. Kenzir and her guys need to save earth, but first they have to get back there

This has been an absolutely fabulous series and it ends with a bang, I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope these two writers team up again

3.5. This is quick easy read,it kinda clears the mind for a more in depth book. I did not give a four do to the grammar mistakes and I feel like the book needed a little more, more of what I don’t know( hence why I am not a writer).

Marked by Destruction is the final book in the Marked Series. And it is a fitting end to a series with lots of twists and turns. We start off pretty much where marked by Pain ends. Kenzie is reeling from her brothers death, but finds determination and strength in making their father pay. You feel through out the book her sadness as well as Kelly's, my heart broke for them. May have shed a tear or two. I don't want to give any spoilers, but there is a lot happening in this book. Very action packed, Kenzie's relationship with them all is as strong as ever, and we get answers. I don't have a lot I can reveal that does not give something away, but I can say that in Marked by Destruction CeCe and Gem stepped up their game. There is information coming in left and right, lots to process. These two together know how to create a world and characters where you can get lost in, and I look forward to more of their collaborations. Yes they will be doing more, in fact they have several more series planned. Also we will be getting a spin off, so I cannot wait to see who it will be of, although I have an idea. Also guys, I have to say, the ending was perfect! Loved it!

RH MMMMM/Superpowers/Academy

SYNOPSIS (of Trilogy): This story is set in a world where humans and the „Marked“ live side by side but humans are not aware. At the age of 17 the Marked go to the academy and find out how many marks they have been gifted. Each mark represents a power and there is a total of 12 - which no one has received in recent memory. The FC, Mackenzie, is gifted all 12 marks. That puts her in the middle of 3 factions, the Magic Council, the Rebels and those who want to kill her. Few people know exactly what the 12th mark does but the Rebels want to use her to take over Earth and reveal themselves to the humans. The books cover Mackenzie learning how to use her marks, developing relationships with 5MCs and fighting against the rebels.

🌶️🌶️/🍆 - There are only a few sex scenes and these are not over the top, lengthy or particularly hot.

This was an OK read with Book 1 being the best of the trilogy. I was skim reading by Book 3. There are quite a few typos and editing issues but they do not impact the story too much, they‘re just annoying. The characters are all young (17/19years) except for one teacher and they all act young. I found the FC came across as particularly childish and she never seemed to grow. It was hard to understand why she was the heroine as despite all her powers (and those powers being powerful) she never appears to be able to use them properly or learn how to use them. She is just constantly getting saved or beaten. As a result I didn’t particularly like her. It seemed like another FC who the author felt that just telling readers she was powerful and had all these men who thought she was amazing (despite any supporting evidence) would be sufficient to create a kick ass heroine. It didn‘t work for me and was all quite superficial. It was a shame as Book 1 started with promise.

The relationships happen quickly and there‘s no real development, its just insta attraction with the MCs just falling for the FC and going on about how pretty and amazing she was with no reason given for them to think so. There‘s a little bit of angst and mean girl bullying but it‘s quite minor.

This could have been much better. Books 2 & 3 are quite short (about 150 pages each) and rushed. There are a lot of plot holes and the climax felt too manufactured and lacking. There was limited information as to how everything was resolved and limited comeuppance.

On the whole average. I enjoy academy romances but the characters were just too young and the story lacked thought.

Still conflicted

Again here I am at the end of another Marked book and I still feel conflicted. I really enjoyed the story. I thought it was unique and creative. I just wish it was more developed. There were so many elements that could have been expanded. I needed to know how this whole series ended and once we get into the third book I honestly felt this was going to have a 4th book. Not that I wanted a 4th book but once we see the magnitude of the possible corruption with Alaric and enter Arizaida I thought the story would go deeper. So I was surprised at how fast it moved. The sudden ending gave me whiplash too.
Here's what I would have liked. Possible spoilers ahead. I wanted to see some of the battles with Alaric. I needed some kind of deeper connection to Airizaida. It's legendary and real but we never get to see it move further in the story. Did they form a bond? Are they going to be less hostile? Introducing us to Taelon and making him so mysterious, leading me to think he's kelly's fated mate, then to cause him and his storyline to just disappear was disappointing. I was really looking forward to that going somewhere. Bummer. Also, I know Ryan and Kenz are siblings but Ryan was working for Alaric in the beginning. He also kidnapped her so I wasn't too cut up about him. Lastly we get a relationship with 4 of the 5 "boys" but no relief with Daniels. I believe book 1 leads us to believe Kenz is his fated...his alpha female as she can turn wolfy but that part of the story keeps its loose ends there too. We never touch that topic again and it just feels so disconnected.
All in all it was an interesting read. I just needed more.

“MACKENZIE CROWE, grab your weapon and meet your fate…”

I cannot believe this is the end. I was kind of hoping for more, I guess.
Everything that was happening was extremely rushed, the "fight" was practically nonexistent and the "tests" that Kenzie had to pass in order to regain her powers did not seem as difficult as they were made out to be. I also don't understand why she lost her powers in the first place.
We only got a glimpse of Ariziadia and did not learn nearly enough about this new world they found themselves in, which is definitely a shame.
And whatever happened with Kelly and that guy..Taelon? Why create a new storyline if your just going to leave it loose? Ugh
And, for gods sake, what the fuck is Mr. Daniels name? That's just plain ridiculous that the books are over and we still don't know it.

Overall, the end of the story did not live up to the expectations I had for it.

Wow what a fantastic third book in this series, and what a great way to end the series about Kenzie and the guys. The books starts off right where book two finished and I loved the alone time that Kenzie and Enzo got to have!! In this book we get to see Kenzie get so much stronger and face her father, but it is so hard to read about her and Kelly going through the lose of Ryan! This story is truly captivating and once you start is impossible to put down! It is action packed and moved at a fast pace that keeps the reader intrigued all the way through. And who can forget the dragons...love this addition!! This series is a well written and classy RH that is highly recommended! Once again great job by G. Bailey and Cece Rose, when these two write together we are left with gold dust! Hope to see a spin off about Kelly in the near future!

I have been waiting for this to come out. And it was amazing. I am totally sad that this is the last book. Kenzie gets her happily ever after and I’m definitely hoping that the spinoff series is where Kelly gets her.

I finished this book over the course of one day being as I had to go to work today. And I am so happy and mad at myself for reading it so fast. But it was dabomb.com lol
Side note, I would personally still like to know Mr. Daniels name. I mean seriously it is not fair. We go three books and still don’t find out. Now that is just wrong.

But if you have read the first two then you will most certainly love and hate this last one. Love because it’s so amazing and Alaric is dead woop woop. And hate because it’s the last one and there will be no more Kenzie and her guys.

So enjoy.
