So I moved on to the light novel from the manhwa (couldn’t wait for S2 to arrive when the light novel is already completed!!) and lads, they both are just as brilliant as each other. I mean y’all, this is one of the best Yaoi “enemies to lovers” stories I’ve ever read this year. I just loved the art and both unique personalities of Jangwoo & Jaeyoung are just *chefs kiss*. I have no doubt that the kdrama will be just as great as the other materials.
Just read this gorgeous Yaoi everyone, you won’t regret it!
It's a korean web novel ( bl) about a super serious guy whose world gets shaken after a senior comes into his life who's like the exact opposite of him in every way. I don't read romance really but it was so cute I love it.
I don't know it's intentional or just a coincidence but it's so obvious that sagwoo is autistic coded. As an autistic person it makes me so happy.
I read the first season of the manhwa on one go and I loved it so much I ended up reading the webnovel hehe.
This novel is not my cup of tea. I read a few chapters, the story did have a great flow and did have a nice plot. The novel really expressed the character's feeling due to that, I deeply sympathize with Chu Sang Woo when his life/schedule was disrupted. Jang Jaeyoung's way was very unsettling to me, let's leave at that. I dropped the novel, chances that I read this again is low.
ohhhh, finally an autistic MC!!! i’m loving the (so far unofficial) ASD-representation!😍
oh, and FYI? i’m completely OBSESSED with this manhwa. i can’t believe how turned on i’ve been for the past… two hours or something. the sexual tension is NO JOKE!!! they’re so awkward and clumsy with each other, i love it. and, once again, it’s so refreshing seeing some ASD-representation! even though they haven’t explicitly said anything about that or whatever… but as someone with autism herself, it’s been clear as day since chapter one, lol. amazing. this just keeps getting better and better! so excited for the future. <3
edit: it’s finally complete now! reading this has been such a joy. i adore this couple.✨

Strong characterization and an immediately engaging plot marks a top-notch first season of Semantic Error. It’s the old Apollonian personality type - scientific, rational, rigid - being attracted to its opposite, the Dionysian spirit of free flowing, emotional artistry. (While I’m an artist, I’m also a university administrator, so I find myself swinging between these poles on a daily basis).
An online colleague recommended this title to me, and I’m glad she did. It’s available on Manta, a relatively affordable platform for manga and manhwa. The storytelling, both visual and narrative, is excellent. Soori Jeo has clearly mastered the medium, and I’m very much looking forward to season 2.
UNFORTUNATELY, ALTHOUGH THERE IS NO EXPLICIT OR OBJECTIONABLE CONTENT (other than it being BL/Lgbtq) AMAZON HAS THIS BL MARKED AS “UNDER REVIEW.” Amazon is now in the position of being an international censor and arbiter of what information we are permitted to access. The problem is that, unlike major publishing houses and brick and mortar bookstores, which historically have extensive editorial review processes, Amazon has essentially no curatorial or editorial process for identifying truly problematic content from perfectly acceptable content. When asked, Amazon refers to its mysterious and mercurial “community standards” as the guide for determining which content is permissible for the public to access. THE PROBLEM is that there really are no community standards other than some religion-obsessed nut case freaking out over a book they’ve never read and complaining to Amazon to get it removed (I’m exaggerating here, just to get the point across. In reality, complaints from both the political Left and Right can result in Amazon censorship, albeit its more likely that such complaints come from the narrow-minded Right, which currently has the emotional maturity of a melodramatic pre-pubescent tween).
For instance, some perfectly harmless and indeed positive BL - stories of perseverance, honesty, and deeply ethical characters who happen to be the same sex - ARE CENSORED AND DROPPED by Amazon, even as shockingly explicit, morally dubious content (often heterosexually oriented) is sold and promoted. There is NO RHYME OR REASON to their decisions. Why? Because Amazon blindly offers huge numbers of titles by using international databases of books and other materials.
THE PROBLEM: anyone can contact Amazon and object to a title, and Amazon, blindly, moves to drop the title based on no editorial standards and no real community standards other than allowing program algorithms to decide what we can and can’t have. So, a neurotic fundamentalist shacked up in an underground bomb shelter can decide what I can or can’t read. (See a Washington Post article on this subject at: https://www.washingtonpost.com/entert...)
loving it ! they are both pissing me off but it's refreshing ? i mean i just want slam their heads together because they are hardheaded and awfully stubborn. the art is amazing !
This is easily one of my favorite bl comics. The characters are just written so well and I love their dynamic. All I want is for season 2 to come out already.
I know the manwha is still going but I thought hmm have I added this to my goodreads it's literally so good gonna get my pace up and go watch the kdrama too needs to be done
i actually ate this series up omfg it was so good. i read the manhwa in 1 day. this series is so good it’s like opposites attract enemies to lovers. i usually only read the smutty ones but this one was so cute and the writing was actually good.
This is such a cute story! Enemies to lovers is always my favourite in a romance. And its also an opposites attract story which is cute. It's just killing me that the whole series isnt finished so I cant continue with it until its all released in english.
I loved each and every page of this Manhwa. The truth is that I never expected that I liked it so much (I do not have a specific reason, but I am very prejudiced with what I am going to read)...
But it easily ended up being one of my favorite reads this year. The aesthetics of its pages is probably what kept me so in love from the beginning to the end 🥰🌈💯
Another aspect I love is the main characters.🛐✨ Sangwoo quickly became my favorite character; because I loved his attitude very much, everything in general. And to some extent I felt quite identified with him and his situation at the beginning. 😅🌟
And Jaeyoung definitely started with its overall design (I'm very observant with this kind of thing). Then I saw his personality and it was not entirely my liking, but still I could like it a lot; and I got to like it quite a bit. Finally the key moments of both characters arrived (I will not specify) and it was when I fell in love with Jaeyoung ... And even more with Sangwoo 🤓✨🔥
4/7/21: Currently at Ch28 Jang Jaeyoung is a fine lookin' stud! Poor Chu Sangwoo, he was getting bullied yet, I couldn't stop laughing! Can't wait to see what happens next. Also, I did see the first 3 episodes of the anime. Sucks, that there's no Eng translation yet. The artstyle is different from the manhwa but, I still like it. So far, there is more man-on-man action in the anime than the manhwa and I'm here for it lol
Sangwoo Choo is a computer science major at Hanguk University. When his groupmates fail to help with a group presentation, he purposely deletes their name off the project. Sangwoo is unperturbed about the consequences of his actions. He needs to find a replacement graphic designer to replace the one who bailed on him. Unfortunately, Sangwoo finds out the designer he wants is one of the groupmates he wronged. The senior is intent on harassing him as payback and destroying his orderly, routine-oriented world. Jaeyoung Jang is a charismatic and talented design major – who intends to study abroad in America once he graduates. His plans get dashed when a certain underclassman deletes Jaeyoung’s name off a necessary project. When he tries to confront the student, the young man refuses to answer his texts and messages. An opportunity arrives for Jaeyoung when Sangwoo tries to hire him to work on his video game. He decides to mess with Sangwoo. However, things start to change between the two men. Sangwoo reminds me so much of Sheldon Cooper from the television show, BIG BANG THEORY. They have the same demeanors, need for routines (and behavior when that gets disrupted), and their interactions with others. I can understand why many of his fellow classmates and professors did not get along with him. His personality is one many would have trouble with. Jaeyoung is fun! And he is Sangwoo’s complete (aka polar) opposite. People gravitate towards his carefree, friendly personality. However, he tends to be on the lazy side and procrastinate. That, in no way, affects his artistic talent. I love his interactions with Sangwoo. Yes, at the beginning, he disrupts the younger man’s orderly life. Yet, Jaeyoung starts to pick up things that people either overlook or have no interest in bothering to notice. I have heard of the manhwa for some time. It is a highly recommended read in the BL fandom. I just never got around to reading it (because I could not find it in paperback format. My preference). I watched (and enjoyed) the live action. So, when I saw the novel form offered in Netgalley, I decided to give it a try. And man, how it ended made me want the next volume immediately.
Semantic Error (시맨틱 에러) by Jeosuri, Ill. Angy Type: Manhwa (Anime and Live-Action Adap.) Genre/Tropes: BL, Comedy, Romance, Shounen-ai, School life, Slow Burn, Yaoi Where: RidiBooks, Manta Languages: Korean, English Warnings: Sexual Themes Status: Completed Description: Computer science major Chu Sangwoo is the epitome of an inflexible and strict rule-abiding person. While working on a liberal arts group project with freeloaders who don’t put in any effort, Sangwoo reasonably decides to remove their names from the final presentation. But he didn’t imagine how involved he would become with the person whose study-abroad plans were messed up because of that project. The involved person: the campus star who everyone knows, Department of Design’s Jang Jaeyoung. He has everything from skills, looks, family background, and good relationships except for 1 big problem: Chu Sangwoo. What happens when an engineer and an artist whose personalities are like oil and water have to work together? Jang Jaeyoung is like a semantic error in the perfect world of Chu Sangwoo. Will Sangwoo be able to debug this? - A semantic error, in the context of programming or language, refers to an error in meaning or logic, where the code or statement is syntactically correct but produces an incorrect or unintended result
This includes plenty of enemies-to-lover banter and it is some of the best haha but don't worry the relationship is not toxic like most bl romances are nowadays. You follow Sangwoo who seems to have very high intelligence which often leaves one lacking in social skills. And Jeayoun is a gorgeous popular God of a man who does not like to be ignored. The perfect recipe.
This was just so funny and swoon-worthy. For someone like Sangwoo who never acknowledged anyone was suddenly looking for Jaeyoun. My heart melted. And the bold red of Jaeyoun, a person who does not like being looked over made sure Sangwoo could never forget him. It was brilliant.
I blushed and laughed so much. The romance was a very slow burn, and awkwardly beautiful. So much so that when they kissed my heart raced. Often times it was sweet and playful then it would suddenly drive off a cliff into primal territory. I loved it and coupled with the Manhwa the characters were easy to picture.
Jaeyoung was the unpredictable to Sangwoo's perfect world. Red underwear too omg I had no idea in the Manwha. That's why novels are always better. And when Jaeyoung found out his weakness and tortured him in the best way possible with playful flirting. *swoon* I just couldn't get over how flipping cute this was.
Jaeyoung Imprinted himself on Sangwoo and me as well. And when Jaeyoung obviously got nowhere with the chasing, he decided to use his handsome face as bait. You just can't get better than this. I very much appreciated Sangwoo's character arc. You sadly don't come across this seemingly emotionless character in books often. It gives another side into how they thought process and how they are not lacking in emotions at all. They just express themselves in different ways.
I just need the rest of the story now. The manhwa too. This was a fun and exciting new love story.
Left off on Chapter 15.12 and really wishing I could read Korean.
Cute scene engaged:
A folder named 'Jang Jaeyoung'. Was it a collection of documents preparing for a lawsuit?
This is one of the most mind blowing mangas / BL or whatever you want to call it. I was so prepared to be unphased with the romance aspect of this book. I mean let's be honest, most of the ppl who read BL on unofficial sources are rly only there for the explicitness and pay little attention to the romance. But this manga actually portrays the romance really well by reducing the explicit scenes but never actually reducing the explicitness of their relationship. You barely see them have sex but you get glimpses of them doing it so it isn't out of the story completely.
Even if you disregard how explicit the manga is, the characters themselves are very compelling and lovable. They're very interesting characters to watch and observe. Their dynamic is just perfect, and I'm not just talking about the general enemies to lovers thing. I'm talking about them specifically. Sangwoo and Jaeyoung have this give and take that personally immerses me in their life. Their affection and love for each other is soooooo good. I love them so much
I actually read the chinese translations for the semantic error novel and it was so goddamn well translated I was blown away.
this is peak poetry????
The pacing was good but I did feel that the ending was kind of dragged out with unnecessary plotlines but I still really enjoyed the story. Sangwoo is categorically classified as autistic by many of the readers even though it's not explicitly stated by the author and you can clearly see why. He displays autism indicators, problems with socialisation, binary thinking, trouble with empathy etc. I mean yes it gets frustrating at times due to his inability to recognise his own emotions and communicate but despite his behaviours and quirks he is a very honest and lovable character. Regardless I'm not here to discuss too much about the technicalities, I just enjoyed this novel a lot and I think it's worth a read.
Uuups, I actually stopped reading this a while ago.
Basically: The adaptation (comic) is better than the original (book) sometimes. I fought my way through season 1 and wanted to continue with the second part of the books, but honestly, I don't care enough - which is really strange since I really enjoy the comics. Also, I'm kind of done with the fandom after reading the car scene everybody always talked about - just to find out that it was pretty much sexual coercion and a gross overstepping of boundaries.
The comic has the same issue but I am not yet willing to drop it, because Angy seems much better at engaging readers and using stylistic devices that fit the characters to make the comic unique and interesting. (Also, very happy that Jaeyoung comes to his senses and stops pressuring Sangwoo).
