Sudden realization while reading through the rest of the reviews:
I'm probably one of the only teenager reading through this series.

Oh well.

The Stone Warriors is the fourth book in the TombQuest series, which follows Alex Sennefer (a boy who was deathly ill and only just escaped death because his mother used the Lost Spells which in turn, brought a bunch of evil Death Walkers back from the afterlife) and his friend Ren. They're trying to stop the Death Walkers by finding Alex's mother who went on the run to protect the Lost Spells from the order.

Alex. Alex, Alex, Alex... He has caused so much trouble, probably more trouble than good.

Is Alex going to get any less ignorant in this series?

Alex’i boğmaya çalışması, Alex’in nefesi ile güçlenmesi falan korkunçtu. Ren onu kurtardı ve Alex’in onu korumak adına yaptığı saçmalıkları düşünmesi hoşuma gitti. Kitap boyunca hatta seri boyunca Alex hep kendini suçladı. Ama Bastet’in gelişi mükemmeldi. Onun kedisine kimse zarar veremez cidden. Ölüm yürüyüşçüsü hak ettiğini buldu. Çok ağladım. Gerçekten ağladım. Maggie ve Alex’in buluşması beni mahvetti. Maggie “senden kaçamadım. Daha fazla yapamadım bunu.” dediği an artık kendimi tutamadım. Küçük tavşanım dediğinde ise bitip tükenmiştim. Sana seni hatırladığıma dair işaretler bıraktım falan dedi. Kadın daha ne yapsaymış cidden. Bir sms atabilirdi aslında ama olsun. Kitap boyunca Alex’in babası kim sorusu kafamda çok döndü. Lider olduğuna emindim ama son darbeyi Maggie indirdi. Gerçekten de lidermiş. İsmi cismi hala belirsiz. Hala nedense bilmiyoru. Maggie keşke kayıp büyüler’i patlatabilseydi.

The Stone Warriors is a very good book that sets the friends, Ernst Todtman, and Alex's newfound mother in the prison of The Order somewhere in the desert. After a while, Ren has made a homemade lock pick and has escaped her cell and is trying to find Alex who is in a completely different cell. Eventually, she finds his cell and unlocked his door. Then after some more time, they find Ernst Todtman (Favourite character) and Alex's mum. the two friends unlock their doors as well and find that Ernst and Alex's mum have been beaten up, Alex's mum has a broken rib and Ernst has lost his walking stick.

They walk down the main prison corridor until they find a guardhouse with a guard and a vault set into the wall. They disarm and tie the guard and unlock the door with the guard's keycard. They find their amulets in the vault as well as Ernst's stick. Then with all their supplies, they walk even further until they find a big open room with two sarcophagi. The statues that are next to them are the same images as the two most powerful members of the secret society called The Order. They recall from the 2nd book that statues, usually placed at the front of the room or next to the sarcophagus, usually represent the occupant to great detail. They were wondering what could this mean?

This book was very good there is lots of action, one of my favourite books I have read so far. My favourite part is when they find who is in the tombs and then get thrown in an execution chamber with an ancient death walker.

As Alex and Ren, along with their quirky friend, Dr. Todtman, search throughout Egypt for not only The Lost Spells, but also Alex's mom, danger is becoming increasingly ruthless at every step along the way. Encountering Death Walkers, Stone Warriors, Peshwar, and The Leader, the trio has a unified goal...stop them from finding the Spells first and thus saving the world.

Each with their Amulets securely in place, they manage to fight off and escape danger on their quest. Yet, finding The Lost Spells and stopping their power also could have severe consequences for Alex...will the life that he was given as the spells were unleashed be taken away with their imminent destruction? Only time will tell...they must find those spells!

In Book #4, The Stone Warriors we have more the same action and adventure, but what makes this incredibly fascinating is the secret that is revealed in the last two pages...oh my word! Who knew? Now, I cannot wait for #5, The Final Kingdom to find out what will happen to Alex, Ren, Dr. Todtman, and Maggie Bauer. YIKES!

Book #48 Read in 2016
Tombquest: The Stone Warriors by Michael Northrop

This is the fourth book in a middle school/young adult series that has elements of mythology, history, adventure and mystery. Alex is still trying to find his mom before the bad guys do, while the bad guys are also trying to find him. This book spans Egypt to Vienna and back again. It is a quick action-packed read that middle school boy and girl readers will love.

eaders of the 39 Clues, Infinity Ring and Kane Chronicles will enjoy Northrops series as well. Kids who want to read the mythology based series like Riordan's works, but can't yet handle books of that length will enjoy TombQuest immensely and can work their way to others later. There is an online game to accompany the book series. Best for grades 4-7.

Inhalt:

Recently, I have been enjoying TombQuest by Michael Northrop. I started it a couple of weeks ago and am on the last book now. The story is sort of like Percy Jackson meets The Infinity Rings.

The story centers around Alex, a boy with a mysterious illness who is suddenly cured when his mother uses an ancient Egyptian artifact to save him. Unfortunately, while Alex is saved, his mother's actions open a rift (for lack of a better word) that allows an old Order to return and gain strength. Before he knows it, Alex is and his friend Ren are in a fight to save the world, battling beings from ancient Egypt as well as human foes.

There are several aspects of this story that I like. First and foremost, I love the relationship that Alex has with his mother. He really respects her and loves her; he appreciates the sacrifices she makes for him. Second, I like Alex and Ren's relationship. While they are good friends, they do have disagreements (in one book they have a pretty big argument.) Most of the time in stories, you find that best friends get along perfectly. This story shows you that you can be best friends, have an argument, realize you were wrong, forgive each other, and move on. Third, I like the emphasis on forgiveness. I can't really say much about this without spoiling something. But not only do Alex and Ren forgive each other when they disagree, there is betrayal in this story and forgiveness. Fourth, I like how Michael Northrop infuses humor into the serious situations. I think it is cleverly done. By just adding a word or phrase, Mr. Northrop breaks up the tension just enough to take the edge out of the situation.

I am adding this to my list of "favorites" for pre-teens and adults with a childlike heart. I will caution that the author does not hesitate to kill characters in his book. (Mini Spoiler: so far, he hasn't killed any main characters, but there are minor characters that die.) So, if you have a child who is particularly sensitive to death in stories, you might want to steer clear of it until they are older.

Alex and Ren barely survived their last run-in with the order and now they're thrust right back into the mess. But the danger they're facing is nothing compared to the revelations that Alex must conquer. The desert holds secrets and answers he may not be prepared for.

As we near the end of the series, each book is getting progressively darker, which I have been enjoying. I have theories on how it's going to end because we are having Alex and Ren face more mature situations and consequences so the last could truly end with a punch.

This one though had us reading through some uncomfortable bugs and had a Star Wars family reunion moment. Also, hoping my favorite character is brought back, just sayin'.

I'm looking forward to finding out if my reader buddy and I are reading the bread crumbs right and predicting the end of the series. We shall see.

Would recommend.

I don't think the image portrayed on the cover of the book (Alex leaving an Egyptian tomb through a wall and into a city) happens in the book itself. I think it happens in the last part of the previous one.

¿Llegarán a tiempo?

This fourth book in The Tombquest series follows Alex, Ren and the eccentric Dr. Todtman as they continue the search for Alex’s mother who holds the key to The Book of Lost Spells from the Egyptian Book of the Dead. They are all targets of the Leader, the Death Walkers and the dreaded Stone Warriors who also want to use the book as a means to world domination. Their adventures take them to Vienna, Egypt and other portals as they unravel clues to complete their quest. Fans of the series will be happy with the non-stop action in this installment and the shocking cliffhanger that will be addressed in the final Book 5. The easy-to-read narrative and the added elements of Egyptology will keep intermediate readers interested. As with other titles in the series, there is the Tombquest Code for readers to find related activities online. Fans of the series and action/fantasy stories will enjoy this title.

The Stone Warriors was an amazing book because of the detail the author put in and the character description of Alex and Ren! My favorite character is Alex because he survives all the things that happen to him and how he saves the world from being taken over by the power hungry order and Ren or as people at school call her plus ten Ren, also I can't believe that Luke got an amulet! And speaking of Luke, Luke was Alex's traitor cousin until they found him in one of the orders prison cells and saved him. I also liked Todtman, a friend of Alex's mom who is an amulet keeper or as Ren calls them the "book club".
Conflict: The power full lost spells are what brought Alex back to life and now the order wants those spells to raise a dead army and take over the world! Wich is horrible because if the order uses them theres no way to stop them!

Alex and his friend get captured in this book at the end. This book written by Micheal Northrop called The Stone Warriors. This book has Egypt cities like Cairo. Cairo gets taken over by the order. Alexandria seems to have a mummy problem. Every day there seems to be at least one mummy on the street in day light. Luxor's famous pyramid bricks is getting taken by the order. The main characters are unforgettable. They saves London and New York in the first two books. And in the third, they cool things down in the Vally of the Kings. They banished three death walkers that is how they safe the two cities and cool things down in Egypt. This book is different from one of the other series Spirt Animals. Spirt animals is about spirt animals. Tombquest is about a quest to save the world. This book would be enjoyed by everyone.

I ended with questions that need to be answered. The lack of adventure in this book was why I didn't give it five stars, but the questions I have gave it more than three stars. Why did Maggie have Alex? Did she know he was going to die so young? What is the Egyptian gods' perspective in what the Order is doing? Especially with Bastet in the picture, but not the big four.

This book picks up right where the last left off, and takes our intrepid duo across several landscapes as they struggle to evade The Order and the Death Walkers, all while still striving to find the Lost Spells and a lost mother.

Overall very well done, with an exceptional use of the false doors. Some revelations were as expected, but still an excellent book.
