Welcome to Spellbound, where paranormal is the new normal.
It's the first annual Spellbound Day and the community has come together to celebrate recent seismic changes. Local lawyer Emma Hart is on top of the world, reveling in her new marriage and her promotion within the coven's academy.
When residents begin acting strangely, the entire town is thrown for a loop. With the help of Sheriff Astrid and the rest of her friends, Emma sets out to uncover the cause. Is it simply a negative response to the influx of new paranormal residents? Or is there magic at work?

The spell that keep residents locked into Spellbound has been broken. The border is open and old friends are off to visit other magical towns, and new paranormals are coming in. Some of the most popular townsfolk are suddenly acting mean and hateful. Emma comes to the rescue.
When a brew is angry lol it was funny how this one effected some people and not others reading about the sweetest people in town turning into hateful shrews was funny and horrible at the same time...lol
Quick Info Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standalone Part of a Series?: Yes ---------------------------------- Meeting the Characters Emma Hart Daniel Starr ---------------------------------- What happens? Emma realises something is amiss when her best friend and the normally sunny major start acting awful towards people they normally wouldn't. Nobody wants to believe her that there is a spell at work but she knows these people don't always act like this. Her law client for this case is a Succubus arrested for prostitution. With the town no longer blocked for new residents by the curse the Succubus moved to Spellbound to start a new life and ends up getting herself involved in illegal activity. Final thoughts Nice read. I really enjoyed this book; I had been putting it off but its the same style but its sort of her HEA story you always want when your favourite series ends. Theres no drama between Daniel and Emma so that is a relief. Would I read again?: Yes Would I read this author again?: Yes
The opening to the outside world is going to have a lot of effects on the town. People will leave, people will move in. It's going to be a sort of cultural clash going on. The people in Spellbound have been used to being a tight-knit group for hundreds of years.
They have developed their own approach to things, their own culture, which without doubt has some major differences with the culture of those living outside of the town. Cultural clashes can lead to violence and hate, but hey can also lead to understand and growth.
Sedgewick is worried he might become obsolete due to the new technology that will be making its way into the town.
The Harpies have an idea for an enterprise of their own. Emma and the other former remedial students will have to learn new abilities.
Suddenly some people start acting totally outside of their nature, being really nasty to others. Emma will have to deal with that before the new people coming into town think twice about moving in.
She also has a new client, a young women who is a prostitute. There's also a very dark ending to her search for the person responsible for others becoming nasty.
There's a lot happening and that makes sense with the magnitude of the change that is taking place for the town and those in it.
The curse on Spellbound has been broken, allowing residents to come and go as they please, as well as allowing an influx of new paranormal citizens to visit. In honor of the occasion, and to thank Emma for her part in breaking the curse, the town is holding its first annual Spellbound Day. But not all is rainbows and unicorns; some of the residents of Spellbound are acting wildly out of character. Emma is convinced that they've been hexed or victimized by a potion. The odd behavior is straining friendships and relationships, and Emma is determined to find the root cause and fix it.
To begin with, I did not realize that this is a spin-off of an earlier series by the author. I've read the first book in that series, then read this one, and I've unfortunately spoiled quite a bit of the original. Boo. My bad. Nevertheless, this was enjoyable, and I liked that the mystery didn't involve a murder, but rather a different sort of crime. Characters were fun and relatable (most of them, at any rate!), and the narrative was quick and straight forward. I would have liked to see more of Emma engaged in activities other than her investigating.
I'd love to award this 3.5 stars. Since I can't, I'll kindly bump it up to four.
(FYI I tend to only review one book per series, unless I want to change my scoring by 0.50 or more of a star. -- I tend not to read reviews until after I read a book, so I go in with an open mind.)
3.5 stars
Sequel series to Spellbound. The author does give you the info you need for what happened in the previous series, that's relevant. Though I suggest reading this after that series, for a better story.
First time read the author's work?: No
Will you be reading more?: Yes
Would you recommend?: Yes
------------ How I rate Stars: 5* = I loved (must read all I can find by the author) 4* = I really enjoyed (got to read all the series and try other books by the author). 3* = I enjoyed (I will continue to read the series) or 3* = Good book just not my thing (I realised I don't like the genre or picked up a kids book to review in error.)
All of the above scores means I would recommend them! - 2* = it was okay (I might give the next book in the series a try, to see if that was better IMHO.) 1* = Disliked
Note: adding these basic 'reviews' after finding out that some people see the stars differently than I do - hoping this clarifies how I feel about the book. :-)
Emma has a case, a mystery to solve and magic abound helping new residents settle. There is also an encounter with the current Warden of the West ending in a hilarious event not to be missed.

SPOILER if you have not read the Spellbound books then do not read the following.
Spellbound is now open. Spellbound day unveiled something Emma is not keen on. I hope the change it for a better one. Some residents are leaving, some new residents are arriving. Much is up in the air due to the large changes. Some of the council are going ahead and bringing in new things without the ok from the council.

The books have not lost their fun and wit. These are just as good as the previous Spellbound books.
I enjoyed most of the Spellbound series, but this Spellbound Ever After is not hitting the mark for this reader. Emma and Daniel returned from their honeymoon to see Spellbound had grown greatly as a community with newer paranormals. This particular book lacked humor that the other series had. Lucy and Begonia, as well as possibly a few other drank sampled tainted brew potion on Spellbound day. The potion flipped their personality making it awkward-especially since sweet Lucy began to be very negative and throwing a shoe at her assistant at one point. For Emma to be a defense attorney, she had her nose in everyone’s business as usual. Maybe that’s why the new town statute was so large. This is NOT a book I’d recommend. Perhaps it was the influx of other paranormal creatures, too many too soon trying to be incorporated into the storyline, or Emma and her lack of attention to her new husband. This reader just found it dull.
Loved it. She loves her job and her new husband but just wishes that he and her vampire lodger would get along better. The celebrations for the town's creation can't come to soon. However the after effects are a bit hard to swallow. Most of the people at the celebration seem to have gotten a personality transplant. What on earth? When it shows up in her new husband she knows she has to investigate. Will she be able to pinpoint the problem? Is this tied in any way to the new arrivals in town. Humour and zany antics make this a fun read. Plus it's always great to meet up with all the inhabitants of Spellbound especially Agnus (loved the pole dancing bit).
The curse forcing everyone to stay in Spellbound has been broken and everything is changing. There's an influx of new paranormals and some older residents are leaving. Emma and Daniel arrive back from their honeymoon in Greece just in time for the new annual Spellbound Day celebration where a statue of them is unveiled to her embarrassment. She's officially he town sweetheart and heroine. But trouble can't leave Emma alone and she knows something is wrong when some of the sweetest people she knows start behaving in an insulting and belligerent manner to wards everyone. Determined to get to the bottom of it Emma has no other choice but to become involved in a hunt for the answer and solution.
The curse on the paranormal town of Spellbound has finally been broken! Suddenly, residents can travel outside town limits. They can visit and vacation in new places. And people from other places are charmed by the old timey ambiance. But someone must not be happy. Because quite a few friendly, even keel residents have turned so rude and mean they are at risk of losing jobs, friends and true loves. Not to mention the new residents who are shocked at Mayor Lucy’s behavior. It could be a potion, a spell, a curse.. Emma needs to find out, before irreparable harm is done.
If you read the Spellbound Series then reading Spellbound Ever After is just a visit with some of your favorite character friends. Emma is now married to love of her life and of course ready to figure out the mysteries, and with Spellbound’s curse gone and the border open, there are way more paranormals in the mix. This first book has us looking for who has done the spell, or is there a spell and things are jot as they seem? Emma, Daniel and the other Spellbound characters are here to figure it out and you get to meet new characters that I am sure will be relevant here after.!
Much has changed in Spellbound, now that the borders are opened. People coming and going, with new businesses opening. Emma Hart is on the case when suddenly the nice people were becoming mean and nasty. Saying whatever comes to mind, without worrying of consequences. No one knew the free ale during the ceremony was laced with a potion. Its up to Emma to find the truth and uncover the culprit before the damage is permanent. This is a feel good.. always has a happy ending. With quirky characters and a message of love and hope.
Emma and Daniel are back from their honeymoon and they discover new paranormals in town Not to mention new businesses.... The town has a special day to celebrate the broken curse with free ale samples from the 2 new brewer's in town... Emma has a new client one of the new paranormals was arrested... Something is wrong with a few of the town's residents after the town party...the paranormals are a bit testy to others Can Emma help her client stay out of jail and can she figure out why people are being rude & snappy?
.. move into Spellbound there's trouble afoot.. not just from CRAPI but from the new residents who don't realise that the law in Spellbound is rather antiquated. Some of the existing residents seem to believe that they are above the new regulations over car's and technology so when it appears that several people including Mayor Lucy and Begonia have been spelled or potioned to make them unpleasant it falls to Emma to find the guilty party while Sheriff Astrid tries desperately to keep on top of things with all the visitors.
Married life has not changed Emma Hart but the town has a few residents that have some changes that are not too pleasant. After the first Spellbound Day people start acting out of character for themselves and there is no idea why. With the influx of new paranormals arriving in town, you would think some people would welcome that but not all is as it seems. Why did this happen? Who was responsible? Time is of the essence if Spellbound and its residents want to be accepted to the outside world.
Annabele Chase has another winner on her hands. I enjoyed catching up with old friends and getting to know some new ones. Worth the read.
Wow this is a fabulous fallow up from "Spellbound " still amazing writing but a new series with a lot of the same vibrant and colorful characters that I enjoy so much and now new ones as well. YES.I couldn't put it down once I started reading I was entranced until the exciting ending the mystery entranced and entertained me further while the plot kept me turning page after page. Acquire " Crazy for Brew " so you yourself can enjoy it as much as I have. Kat
Welcome to Spellbound 2.0 now that the curse has been lifted things must be better for Emma back from honeymoon and ready to chill. Unfortunately that's not going to happen, with the influx of new residents and businesses things go south fast. With even more zany characters magic mayhem and hilarity abound, laugh out loud with this latest in the series, not to be missed, Baz.
OMG what a wonderful kickoff to this new series. If you haven't read the first series where Emma comes to Spellbound, you need to go do that first. This was absolutely amazing. Unfortunately Emma was only one who figured out there was something going on. I love the end where Mickey goes to the care home. The thought of Agnes on a pole is just wow! I'm off to read the next book I'm really enjoying this series.
The first book of this series picked up from the end of other one. Emma and Daniel broke the spell over Spellbound and the town is getting an influx of new paranormals. Emma is back to her sleuthing but this time there’s a bit of urgency as some of her closest friends seem to be affected by a spell or something else causing them to be rather unlikeable. A great start to this series and I can’t want to read the next book.
I appreciate this series starts off where the other left off! Emma sees a difference in her friends but no one sees it the way she does. After the curse broke, everyone is overwhelmed with new paranormals arriving to Spellbound. Emma has got her work cut out for her. I love how she sticks with her gut to find out what happened. I can't wait for the next one! Great job Annabel Chase! You have a gift and I hope you keep writing!
The characters seem real with even greater potential. The story begins telling us of momentous breaking of a curse that held the members of the community there for millennia. The plot is easily followed and the premise is finding out what is making certain normally sunny individuals act quite unlikable. The answers are unfortunate, but the problem is taken care of. I most definitely recommend this book.
I had wondered how the influx was going to affect the townspeople. I thought we were going to get more of a direct events right after the wall fell, but I can see why she skipped ahead. I'm also glad she focused on the mystery as the relationship stuff had seemed to be taking over.
I have loved each book in this series, and I continue to love the characters and town. But I have to admit to some eye rolling at the conservative prosecutor \ pro-immigration foil. While the topic is certainly relevant at present, there's plenty of it in the news already.
The curse has been broken. Spellbound is now open to the rest of the supernatural world. A great cozy mystery series set in a supernatural town that is part of a larger magical world in an urban fantasy cozy mystery series. Great cast of characters always extremely fun and entertaining. Check them out
The borders are open and people are coming and going from Spellbound. Emma and Daniel are back from their honeymoon, and things are a little crazy at home. This book continues building the world of Spellbound. The characters are personable and the plot keeps you reading. I love this world!
This is a fun series to read by a very talented author. The characters are varied, but I love that sweetness and intelligence perseveres over time. It is a fun mystery that gets solved.
I love the main character that is so full of heart, but strong when needed. Her husband is a little weak for my tastes, but seems to complement her well.
Wonderful story filled with plenty of excitement, surprises, suspense, danger
Wonderful story and mystery filled with plenty of excitement, surprises, suspense, danger, magic and wonderful friends. I would recommend this to everyone who enjoys reading magic, a good mystery and a wonderful story.
